Reinstall Acrobat 6 to Windows 7 to reinstall Acrobat 9 upgrade

How can I reinstall Acrobat 6 standard to Windows 7 (not compatable) so I can reinstall online previously purchased Acrobat 9 upgrade

I downloaded and tried to install the 9 upgrade and use the serial number on the CD case for Adobe 6,  it gives me an error of invalid serial number.  Checked the number several times.  Still no luck.
Any other idea?

I had two laptops stolen and the reinstall is a real pain. This also applies to reformats and changeovers to Windows 7, etcetera.

Windows 7? Then don't waste your life minutes fumbling with an Acrobat 8 - Windows 7 combination.
If you are to be using Win 7 you'll need the current release of Acrobat (XI). "X" will function but it is no longer marketed by Adobe.

Simply go ahead installing CS5.5. All you need is the CS3 serial number for verification.

• Windows media player stop working after upgraded from firefox 6.02 to Firefox 7.01 yesterday.

windows media player stop working after upgraded from Firefox 6.02 to Firefox 7.01 yesterday.
the plugin for win media player is already installed and working fine in FF 6.02 before upgrade. i have Google this issue without any result so far. so i reinstalled the old version 6.02, until fix is found.
anyone has the similar issue with Firefox 7.01 in Win 7 32 bit ?

The issue was not with FF 7.01. VLC player version 1.11.1 is conflicting with windows media player when FF 7.01 tries to play media files! Which was not happening before in FF 6.02.
VLC and plugin media player need to be uninstalled first, then uninstalled FF 6.02. Install FF 7.01 and then win plugin media player again.

• Windows 7 won't validate on upgrade.

A friend of mine called me last weekend in desperation, having had a serious multiple virus attack on her (XP Pro) PC.   The system was trashed, so we decided to install Win 7.   The PC came with XP Pro, and the sticky label is still on the case.  However, in view of the viruses we weren't prepared to take the risk of leaving anything on the PC, so I wiped and reformatted the HD and installed "afresh".  She bought an "Upgrade" edition, since she has a legitimate XP licence.
I waited for "please insert your XP CD" which didn't come.  Then I waited for "enter your XP valildation code" which didn't come.  Finally, it asked for the Win 7 vaidation code which it told us (with no explanation) was invalid.   I phoned MS to get a telephone activation but ended up with an Indian call centre operator who hadn't a clue.
Do I REALLY have to wipe the HD, reinstall XP, then upgrade?   What does that do for anyone?  It'll take me best part of a day - for what?  Surely it isn't beyond the wit of MS to provide the "enter the old CD" or "enter the old code" as was the case with previous upgrades and was was promised for Win 7.
I read a while ago from an MS employee that
Windows 7 upgrade will be able to do a clean install as long as you have a valid and legal copy of Windows XP or Windows Vista to show during the install. A prompt will appear asking for the cd-rom and product key.

Microsoft Windows Client Team
Sadly, it seems Jessica's wrong.  It didn't ask for either - it just refused point-blank.  The installation completed, but will not activate.
What now?

Hi Andy,
Yes, I'd have reinstalled XP before installing Win 7 if I'd known that was required.  And yes, she did have Windows XP on the computer before installing Windows 7 via the upgrade media.  Conditions of EULA met.  However, that Win XP installation was infected with several different viruses and we agreed that it was not a good idea to leave them there and install Win 7 over the top.  So we wiped the hard drive.  That didn't invalidate the EULA, it was just part of the "safe and sensible" install process.
Unfortunately for your argument, there is a post on this very Forum (claiming to be from a Microsoft person, but maybe a forgery - cited above) saying that wouldn't be necessary.
Also, the last time I did a "wipe and reinstall" (from Win ME <spit> to XP Pro) all that was required was to put in the install disk from the old version of Windows to prove I had it, so Jessica's statement seemed logical.   If the illustrious Jessica isn't from Microsoft and/or speaks untruth, then that post should have been instantly moderated to say so.  It's on a Microsoft website, and it says it's from Microsoft, and nobody's added a warning from that day to this so I think I'm justified in believing it to be Microsoft policy.
Then I spent another 4 hours installing all the other software Gillian needed, and configuring it all (who in this day and age keeps all their documents and stuff buried deep in Drive C?  Yet MS still defaults to that rather than asking "What drive for Documents, for Pictures, etc?").   Everything is working as it should, her "stuff" is all on the PC and in the right places - where she can find it - and there is virus protection, a decent browser and mail package, and her specialist "stuff" as a lawyer - which is what she does.  She's not computer literate, which is why I fixed it for her.   I have no desire whatever to do the whole job again.
Reinstalling now should not be necessary: in the year 2009 Microsoft is quite capable of setting up a routine to "enter your previous version key" if it wants to.  The way this is done is more typical of the behaviour of Apple - which is the primary reason I don't use a Mac.  I'm rapidly coming down to the conclusion Linux may be the way to go next time around.  Win 7 is excellent:  I like the product - but not the attitudes.
I will assuredly NOT be undoing all that work, so it will be telephone to MS Support.  That is, if we can ever get past the forest of "Press 1 for this, 2 for that, enter the 64-digit number on the Ooglefloofle Screen".   I had to enter the same 64 digits into a small telephone three times yesterday before I could get through to the Indian lady who didn't have a clue anyway.   User-friendly?   About as user-hostile as it can get.   The arrogant and inflexible attitude on activating an upgrade shows the same.  It's what bankrupted General Motors (another company I know well).
Fortunately, there are folks of intelligence about, and the link above offers me three ways of fixing it - one of them that I will use if the telephone method fails.
I'm sadly disillusiuoned by the whole palaver, though.  Gillian's deeply embarrassed that I spent six hours yesterday to "sort her problem" and that most of it seems to be wasted because of a wacky, conflicting and illogical attitude by Microsoft.  All MS has to do is to have people who answer telephones - not Indians with a set script from which they may not diverge, but people who know, who can ask you to read them the two keys, and give you a third key to enter to activate.  I even remember that happening many years ago with a different MS product.

• Question on Acrobat X upgrade version

Here is my situation:
One of my users has a copy of Acrobat 7.0 Standard.  He recently got a new laptop with Windows 7 on it.  Acrobat 7.0 doesn't get along well with Windows 7, so we have decided to purchase Acrobat X Standard for him.  What I want to know is if it's necessary for Acrobat 7.0 to be installed before installing the Acrobat X upgrade?
As best I can tell, Acrobat 7.0 does install on his computer, but the pdf printer portion does not.  Still, I do not want to be in a situation where my upgrade license doesn't work because the install is incomplete or damaged due to incompatibility with Windows 7, and I do not have time to try it and then go through hoops with customer service to send the package back if it doesn't work.

In order to upgrade you don't need to install the old version at all, you
just need to have its S/N at hand because you'll be required to fill it in
during the installation.

• Adobe Acrobat 8 upgrade

I have Adobe Acrobat 8 on a windows laptop. we have now purchased 2 MacBooks. I want to install Adobe on the new laptops but obviously the discs are for windows machines. I assume the upgrade purchase from 8 to XI is still available even though it goes on to a different OS?

I would be sure to contact Adobe. It is possible to "crossgrade" but it may not be automatic. The install will check your old serial number (clearly, the old product can't be installed), and might not accept one from the "other" platform.

Hi, stig2013.
I would recommend the steps in the article below.  See the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
If you are receiving an error message, find the exact error number that you recieved in the article below and process the steps.
iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if you manually disconnect the device during the restore process. You can resolve this issue by using USB troubleshooting, using a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

• Acrobat 11 upgrade issue.

I just downloaded the Acrobat 11 upgrade. When I click to open the application it automatically shuts down. Multiple tries, same issue. Any solutions?

Hi Wendy,
I have few questions for you:
Was it working fine for you before?
Have you updated Acrobat to v11.0.07?
Have you checked the performance a new Admin account?
Try the following:
Move the cache.db file from the location Macintosh HD>Library>Application support>Adobe >Adobe PCD>Cache and move the cache.db file on to your desktop.
Close and reopen the application, you will get a prompt to enter the serial key, enter it and check if Acrobat is still crashing or not.
