Reinstall Aperture 3 to be legal

I was using Aperture 2 illegally, I didn't pay for it. I purchased Aperture 3, installed it and moved 27,000 photos easily. After I was done I realized I was not asked to enter the serial number. I am thinking my Aperture 2 was upgrade with the borrowed serial number. I want to use the serial number I purchased so Aperture 3 is properly registered. Can I delete Aperture 3, keep the updated library and reinstall Aperture 3? Is the library a standalone database that will work with the newly installed Aperture 3? Thanks for your thoughts.

  • Reinstalling aperture 3.4 (on OS 10.8) from DVD version 3.0

Having issues reinstalling Aperture onto Mac with OS 10.8. Aperture running absolutely fine til yesterday when got message saying "error with library." Trashed aperture, then reinstalled. Now getting message that says: "the library in X cannot be loaded because it is from a newer version of Aperture.
What is the best way around this? I have DVD install disc, version 3.0
I saw something about needing to install trial version and then upgrade to 3.4 and THEN try to open application. But apparently apple no longer offers trial verison.
    Any help very appreciated!
    Thanks.

I would first make a backup copy of your library. Then there are a number of things you could try:
    1. Start Aperture 3.4  holding down the option key and create a new test library. There will be nothing in it. Then try to import your photos from the questionnable library. This might work. If it does, then continue using the test library. You can eventually rename it.
    2. Do you have an up to date copy of iPhoto around? If so, try opening the questionnable library with it. The program libraries are now cross compatible. If iphoto opens it you may be able to save or export it as an iphoto library and then import the pictures back into Aperture. My aperture sometimes hangs on opening the library, but iPhoto will open it.
    3. Trash Aperture and all associated plists. Reinstall 3.0 then update to 3.4 and try again.
    4. Repair your disk and permissions, try again.
    5. Reinstall Mountain Lion over itself and do software updates. Try again.
    6. If none of this works and you've already repaired your library it may be damaged. You may be able to recover your photos by "showing package contents" in finder and drilling down until you find them, but this is normally not recommended.

  • Reinstalling Aperture 3

I have been using Aperture 3 for about a week now with no issues. I formatted my drive last night and I reinstall Aperture 3. I then used time machine to restore the pictures folder that contains all my pictures and the Aperture 3 library. When I open Aperture one Project seems to be bad, of course it's the one that contains 90% of my work. When I click on a photo in the project a box outline and the name of each photo shows in the browser but no image. Each one has a yellow exclamation mark. If I select locate referenced file it says the selection doesn't have any referenced file. Similar message if I select update from master. The master files exist, in the same folder as before. I tried deleting the library and importing from the backup library, but same problem. I tried older backups, but same problem.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My original installation of A3 was storing photos externally. When I reinstalled A3 it defaulted (or I set it, not sure which) to copy photos into A3 library. Because of this, A3 could not find the photos (which were external. So nothing wrong with A3, just had to make a change in the settings.
    Thanks

  • HT4007 I reinstalled Aperture 3. Do I have to install every single update files or only the latest one?

    Hi All.
    I just reinstalled Aperture 3.
I'm just wondering do I have to install every update files by in order? or do I just need to install the latest one?
    Please let me know.
    Thank you.

Just run Software Update (or from the App Store) and let Apple do the rest.  It should bring you completely up-to-date.

  • Reinstalled Aperture after a computer erase and re-install and now it will not open. Anyone have a solution? I'm operating on 10.6.8 and have an older version of Aperture (2010)

I re-installed Aperture after a computer erase and disk repair. Reinstalled from my back-up hard drive using migration assitant. Now it will not open. The message I get is this: Aperture cannot b opened because of a problem. Then goes on to say "check with the developer blah blah blah..." even though this is an Apple product. These are the things that drive me to distraction. Anyway, does anyone have a suggestion for a fix??

    Your Aperture version?
Is your signature Mac OS X (10.4) current?
Reinstalled from my back-up hard drive using migration assitant. Now it will not open.
Aperture is best be reinstalled by running the installer, not by migrating.
Before you spend money, reinstall Aperture from your installation media (or from the Trial version download  Aperture 3.1 Trial     , if you are running Aperture 3)
Then update it immediately from the Apple  menu> Software update, launch it, and enter your serial number(s).
Are you really sure that there is no crash log?
The message you are quoting is usually a part of the crash report, when Aperture crashes directly on opening. Do you see this?
Aperture cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure Aperture works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install available updates for the application and OS X.
This report will be sent to Apple automatically.
And what we would need to see, are the first 50 lines of the  "This report ...."

  • Problems reinstalling Aperture

I first installed Aperture 2.1.1 (dvd) on a Macbook Pro running os x 10.5.8.
I then purchased the dvd to upgrade to Aperture 3 and I recently downloaded the update 3.1.2  (no more updates available for os x 10.5).
I just installed os x 10.6 (sorry for delay) and updated it to 10.6.8, and here is the problem: Aperture doesn't open anymore.
I tried to disinstall Aperture following these steps (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805):
" On Mac OS X v10.6. Snow Leopard:
    Open the Applications folder.
Drag the Aperture application to the Trash.
Open the Utilities folder within the Applications folder.
    Open the Terminal application.
On the command line, type the below command (which is case-sensitive) and then press Return: sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.Aperture
When prompted, enter your user password and press Return.
Insert your Aperture disc and install Aperture.
When finished, choose Software Update from the Apple () menu to update your software to the latest version.
For further information on settings or installation, please refer to the Aperture documentation available on your installation discs. "
but, after typing " sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.Aperture ", and putting the password, I get the following error:
    Unknown error Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=4 UserInfo=0x10025f3d0 "“com.apple.pkg.Aperture.bom” couldn’t be removed.".
    Forgot package 'com.apple.pkg.Aperture' on '/'.
Does anyone know what I should do? Can I go on reinstalling Aperture 2 and then upgrade to 3 using the dvd I have or may I have some problems in the future?
    Really appreciate any help.
    Ric

After upgrading to os x 10.6.8, I opened Aperture (version 3.1.2) and got a message saying Aperture and the os x were not compatible.
Ric, did this message contain something like "certificate expired"? The older installers on the installation media sometimes are not accepted by the newer MacOS versions - security issues. If this happens again, change the date in the System Preferences, so MacOS thinks it is still before February 2012, then the installer should work.
But great that you could solve your issue, and now have a working Aperture 3 installation!

how to reinstall aperture 3.3 lost when reinstalling loin

If you purchased Aperture from the Mac App Store, just RE-DOWNLOAD it, from the Mac App Store. The re-download should be FREE.
Mac App Store: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
If I have already downloaded an app from the Mac App Store, can I redownload it for free?
Yes. You can redownload apps from the Mac App Store as long as the app remains available. You may be asked to enter the Apple ID and password you initially used to download the app.

  • How to reinstall Aperture purchased online, after changing AppStore?

After upgrading to mountain lion I have to reinstall Aperture, which I purchased from the Thailand AppStore. I now have moved to the Indonesia AppStore and cannot access / reinstall Aperture, as it doesn't list under purchases in my Indonesia AppStore. There are no trial versions anymore available... Help would be much appreciated, cannot wasit to get back to my photo library...!

Even if it works with a least expensive app, there is no guarantee it will work with anything else. This advice is a call-driver to iTS which causes the customers to be frustrated as to why they are charged again. I've also seen iTS refuse to refund as this will be considered an ACCIDENTAL purchase!
I agree it MAY work, and it MAY not. We are gambling here. I would contact iTS first, and discuss it with an advisor first before burning 80 bucks.

  • Reinstalling Aperture without paying again

    Hi,
I purchased Aperture back in 2010 upgrading from the trial version. My HD died and I didn't back up the old installer. Now I'm having to reinstall Aperture, but it seems it only exists in the App Store and I'm only presented with the option to buy it again.
    Any advise?
    Thank,
    Nic

I was using Mavericks and the current latest version of Aperture
The latest version of Aperture is 3.5.1 and is only available from the MAc App Store.
When users upgrade to Mavericks there were able to switch their Aperture license to the MAS and download 3.5
So if you were running Mavericks and the latest version of Aperture you should be able to download it again from the MAS. Just make sure you log in to the MAS with the same Apple ID you used when you upgraded to Mavericks.
If you were not running 3.5 then you will need to wait and see if Apple can help you.

  • How do I reinstall Aperture with only serial number?

I had to have a new hard drive installed and due to software corruption on my old drive I had to erase any software.  My photo library was in Aperture and I can not access any of my images.  I upgraded from a free trial and only have a serial number for version 3.2.4.  How do I reinstall Aperture without having to repurchase the download?  Thank you for any advice!

Try if this download link for the trial version still works: if yes, you can install Aperture 3 from this link, then unlock it with your serial number:
    http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/Aperture/061-8328 .20101020.AprE3/ApertureTrial3.1.dmg
Then use software update to upgrade to 3.3.
Keep a copy of the Trial installer, just in case you ever need to reinstall.

  • Reinstalling Aperture?

    Hello,
Had to reinstall my operating system and now Aperture will not launch. If I reinstall Aperture, what will happen to the image editing settings on the 100s of photos I have edited?
Is there any way to preserve them? Any ideas why Aperture would not launch after reinstalling and updating my operating system?
    Thanks, Drew Harty

    Hi,
there are two different places where Aperture stores your personal settings.
    1. General Preferences (those are the one you can set from Aperture>Preferences menu) are in <your home folder>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.aperture.plist - Those are not overwritten by an reinstall. However you might should give it a try to rename this file and see if Aperture works now.
    2. Images, Image Metadata, Image Corrections and Keywords - Those are things that are related to your Aperture Library (If you did not change anything this file is located in <your home folder>/Pictures/Aperture Library.aplibrary). This file will never be touched by the installer.
So by reinstalling you should not lose any of your custom settings/edits.

  • How to properly reinstall Aperture

    Good morning to you all;
I have been using Aperture for over a year and like the way it works. However, lately one of my plug-ins started acting strange and since me and the developer have exhausted all solutions, I would like to reinstall Aperture and see if it helps. As my library holds 15000+ pictures (98% of them referenced) and is around 60GB in size, I have a lot to lose.Mind you, I have it double backed up, but still would like to do the reinstall properly. *Could you pls advise me as to how to properly reinstall Aperture?* Thank you

Jade; thank you for your reply. I, indeed, only wanted to reinstall Aperture. No reimporting etc. Too much work. In the mean time I found the below info which covered all my questions. My problem is that when I select (cherry pick) several photos (lets say 80+) and try to upload them via Aperture to Picasa Web Plug in from Ubermind, the plug in tries to log in and then freezes. I am talking to their support guys and they are in deed very fast in replying. I just wanted to have a clean reinstall of Aperture to make sure there was no corruption.Any ideas are more then welcomed.
For reinstalling Aperture, I found these tips:
Another approach you might consider is reinstalling Aperture. To do this
effectively, you need to remove the application and its receipts, then
install Aperture and use Software Update to install additional updates. You
don't have to remove everything that was installed with Aperture. Follow
the steps below to completely reinstall a fresh copy of Aperture.
Note: Make sure that you have your installation discs nearby before
    starting this.
    1. Open the Applications folder.
    2. Drag the Aperture application to the Trash.
    3. Go to /Library/Receipts.
    4. In the Receipts folder, select the "Aperture.pkg" and
"ApertureSampleProjects.pkg" files. Note: If you have Aperture 1.5
    also select the "PluginManager.pkg" file.
    5. Drag the those .pkg files to the Trash.
    6. Insert your Aperture installation disc and install Aperture.
    7. When finished, choose Software Update from the Apple () menu to
update your software to the latest version.
For further information on settings or installation, please refer to the
Aperture documentation available on your installation discs.

  • HT4007 How to reinstall aperture 3.0 on new hard drive.

Need to reinstall aperture. Hard drive crashed!!! I have the key for aperture 3.0 but I can not find anywhere to download it. What do I do?

I originally downloaded the trial version of aperture 2.0, then I bought the upgrade key for 3.0.  I still have the serial number. There is only a buy option on the app store. I need to download it the old way and then enter the serial number but can't figure out how to do that.

  • After reinstall, Aperture 1.5.1 doesn't show vault images from backup drive

    Hi folks,
Okay, I am stuck. For some reason Aperture would not start when I double click the icon, so I reinstalled it from the disk and upgraded it to 1.5.1. I have all the images I was using before the crash backed up in a vault on my back up drive but when I open Aperture the folders and project do not appear in Aperture. I right click on the vault and say open with Aperture.app but nothing happens and I can't seem to access the files with Aperture.
If anyone can help, it would be really great and appreciated.
    Thank you
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
Have you checked the Aperture - > Preferences and library location?
    Default should be ~/Pictures/Aperture Library.aplibrary
    Is there a ~/Pictures/Aperture Library.aplibrary in Finder?
If so, how large it is? does it seem to contain the images(sizewise)?
    Restoring vault:
Have you tried opening Aperture, select File - Vault - Restore Library
