My iPhone was recently restored by accident. Is there a way to get back my ringtones and apps without purchasing them again?

Restoring an iPhone isn't easy to do by accident but regardless, ringtones and 3rd party apps should be in your iTunes library on your computer along with all other iTunes content - music, podcasts, and video.
An app can be re-downloaded by iTunes on your computer and you won't be charged again for a purchased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the app that was used to purchase the app originally. Music, video and ringtones are a different story, which should remain in your iTunes library on your computer and be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data.

I'm not sure if it charged when I hooked it up to my roommate's computer, but it definately didn't register either. If I put it on the dock it plays so the port is fine, but that still doesn't help me sync it to my computer. -
Since I installed ios 6.1 in my iPhone 4, I can't sync it with iTunes. Can annyone help me? I have already reinstalled iTunes and reseted the iPhone, but it still doesn't sync. Thank you.

It sounds like you are constantly needing to restore your phone because it keeps going into recovery mode. Usually putting a device into recovery mode and restoring it can help isolate an issue to your iPhone hardware if an issue persists afterwards. I would try manually putting it into recovery mode and restoring it 1 more time:

No matter what. I have reinstalled it and done a soft reset but still happening. Any ideas.

I have an Ipod Touch 2 and rebuilt my laptop. Reinstalled ITUNES and can't find my applications on ITunes after login. I tried to activate Itunes again but it didn't. How can I get my applications to display on ITUNEs?
It sounds like you essentially have a new computer and unless you restored from a backup your iTunes library would be empty. You can transfer your iTunes purchases from your iPod to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
SInce you changed syncing computers. after you move the stuff you need to restore the iPod to factory defaults and sync the stuff back to your iPod. If you had the iPod backup file you could restore from backup.

I am running OS 10.5.8. Tried reinstalling, restoring, and resetting both with installation disc and without, but to no avail.
I recently upgraded from 1GB memory to 4 GB. It ran great for a couple of weeks, when I eventually powered it off, it would not come back. With installation disc, I did get to the utilities and tried repair and even reinstall original OS (several updates down from 10.5.8). At one point, I was able to restore a previous session, but it only lasted for about 3 days until I powered it off again, then back to square 1. I have verified the Macintosh HD disc and repaired it, I have reset everything I can find that might need resetting... Still nothing.
SO, is it toast, or is it possible to install OS 10.6 and get it to boot?Erase the drive then install OS X:
Drive Partition and Format
1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
If you are preparing an external or a non-startup drive, then open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
If this doesn't work then the drive is probably bad or some of the new RAM you installed is marginally defective. -
Need to do a clean reinstall, but need to keep applications and documents
I know that to do a clean reinstall of 10.6 you must first erase the hard drive using Disk Utility. I want the reinstall to be clear of all old settings, except that I need to carry over my applications and documents. Could I use Migration Assistant to backup just the applications and documents to an external hard disk, reinstall the OS, and then use Migration Assistant again to restore my applications and documents from the external drive? I've never used Migration Assistant.
Why can't you just delete the current settings?
But if you really want to erase everything and reload 99.9% of it, use +Setup Assistant+ after you install OSX on the empty volume. By default, it will transfer your network settings, but you can omit them. Am running Tiger 10.4.11; just got Snow Leopard 10.6.3 (regular OS disk, not upgrade). When I install Snow Leopard, will it wipe everything? overwrite Tiger? Do I need to make backups of applications and files to reinstall after Snow Leopard Loads? thanks!

No it doesn't erase anything by default, it does what we used to call an Archive and Install feature, which can give you a new OS, yet preserve your files and settings if you have enough room on your HD...

But it does it automatically unless you specifically erase the Disk, but will replace Tiger completely for the OS & several Apple Apps like Safari, Mail, etc, yet preserve your old settings for those!
If you think you may need Tiger to run any APPs that do not work in SL/10.6, then clone or backup first.
I would recomend 2 things before installing though...
Make sure you have enough RAM & HD space.
Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
General requirements
* Mac computer with an Intel processor
* 1GB of memory (I say 2GB at least)
* 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
If it's a core Duo & not a Core2Duo, then it'll only run in 32 bit mode.

2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)

3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Im running windows 8 on my desktop. i tried to reinstall itunes and when i open it i get the following message " Apple Application Support not found, Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes". I have a folder on my desktop that has files in it that says Apps removed during refresh and there is Apple files in there. Im guessing this could be a windows issue but Im not to good with computers. Any help would be great.

Hi all. I upgraded to 7.1.2 on my IPad yesterday. I cannot now get these apps: facebook, iPhoto's, iBooks and some others. I can't update the Economist or Bloomberg apps. I cannot delete the apps and reinstall. I did a reset. Any ideas?
Are there any parental controls on the iPad or iTunes?

I just bought a 27" iMac (3/2012) and migrated the data from my Mac Pro into the new iMac. It's now overloaded with the settings and files that I should have just put on an external drive, but I didn't. I want to erase everything and start with what OS and applications when I purchased it. It is running Lion OS X Version 10.7.3. Before the app store I understood how to do this when there was a recovery disc for the OS and Applications but need help on how to get it back to a clean new system (and I do not need to save any settings or information on the new imac).

If possible backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.

You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer. -

i am sorry, i am new to mac plisI would certainly back up everything to an external drive, preferable a bootable clone using CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper! before installing Lion.
You shouldn't have to reinstall yopur apps though.

My iPod nano 6G stop working suddenly; After i reset it and even afetr put it in "stand by" mode by accessing deagnostic mode, it is still not working; Now i can access it sometimes (the main screen), but is not playing and is too slow. How can i fix it
If you do not find a solution in the iPod nano (6th generation) - User Guide, suggest that you call AppleCare if still under warranty or take a trip to your local Apple Store or AASP.

I've installed Lion over Snow Leopard and all my non Apple software is still here - you may want to check if your software will work with Lion and I would definately recommend having a bootable backup in case anything goes wrong
