  • I need to reinstall CS2, downloaded from Adobe but when run get serial nr missing, even if I use the one Adobe is providing

Lost my laptop, and now I need to reinstall CS2, in order to install CS3. I downloaded CS2 from Adobe site but when I run the program I get an error message: Your Adobe Photoshop user name, or serial number is missing or invalid. The application cannot continue. I was using the serial nr that Adobe is providing on the CS2 download page.
    Any help much appreaciated

You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
You can make '''Firefox 7.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. • Reinstall CS2 via external hard drive

The Story: I have been running CS2 programs off of an external hard drive for over a year now with no problems (granted, I don't use it often). Recently, Photoshop (but not Illustrator) is telling me that I need to activate my copy of the program. I tried ignoring that, but now it won't let me use it at all without activating it. I tried activating it over the phone and it would not accept my activation code. I explained everything to customer service and they said I would need to reinstall CS2. However, the optical drive has been broken for awhile now, so actually inserting the disks into the laptop isn't an option. I have the physical disks, my laptop however will eat them. Customer service guy explained that wouldn't be a problem, I could simply copy the disks onto an external hard drive and install that way. Sounded shady to me, but he said that it would be very simple and easy.
So, I insert the disks into my other laptop, copy and paste them to my external hard drive and bring them over to the MacBook Pro. At first, it looked like it was working. I could open the installer, and the installation would begin. I select which components I would like to install, I select where I would like to install the program. However, as the actual installation begins it asks for me to "Please Insert Adobe Creative Suite Disk 1 to continue the installation". This is where I'm stuck. I've tried installing it via the file on the external hard drive. I've tried copying those files onto my desktop and running them from there. No dice.
LONG STORY SHORT: How can I properly install CS2 onto a MacBook Pro via an external hard drive instead of install disks?
Details: MacBook Pro running OS X, 10.5.8, 2 GHz Intel Core Duo. Adobe CS2 Premium (Education). Let me know if you need more details.
    Thanks so much!

Two things to be aware of.
    1. CS2 is completely unsupported under anything later than 10.4 and is not Intel native.
    2. CS2 is the earliest version eligible for upgrade pricing.

Hi, how do I download the replace CS2 acrobat professional 7?  I can't find a link for Mac. I reinstalled CS2 from adobe (as my old G4 Powerbook needed reinstalling), but it didn't install instal Acrobat or Distiller.  Adobe don't seem to have any contact mechanism.
I put my old acrobat back onto my machine (from a backup made before reformatting) but it wants the box serial number.  when I did that however, the replacement CS2 photoshop, etc, wouldn't work, so I had to install it again, but then, you guessed it - acrobat won't work again.

    Hello Alan,
Acrobat 7 is older version. Refer below link for more information and how to download.

Adobe has made earlier versions available for customer's convenience.
Hope all will go well !!

  • Reinstalling CS2 from downloaded 3 x .exe files (due to activation issues

I downloaded the 3 files from Adobe to reinstall CS2 but after disk 1 it asks for disk 2. If I click the exe file on the hard drive it wil not work. If I burn a disk adn put in the disks as requested it wil not work. Any help would be welcome - loading onto an XP system that had a correupted drive. Thanks

the 2nd file extracts to an incorrect directory.
to resolve, move each extracted disk's files to the directory created when the first disk extracts.  ie, extract all 3 files.  move all the disk2 and disk3 extracted files to the directory created when extracting disk 1.

  • Reinstalling CS2 on new hard drive from download. Disk 1 installs and asks for Disk 2 which I can't get to install.

I'm trying to reinstal CS2 on my newly replaced boot drive from a download. Disk 1 installs and then request me to insert Disk2. How do I direct it to the disk2 download?

move the unzipped contents of all three files to the same directory. then install.

    Hi,
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
Open Console in Applications>Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when trying to open CS2.

  • Adobe Bridge is not fuctiong correctly, I need to reinstall CS2

I have Adobe CS2, I recently took a ton of pictures in Large and Raw with my Canon Camera. When I upladed then to my computer and wanted to work on the .RAW images my Bridge will not allow me to adjust the .RAW images.  I am assuming I need to reinstall my CS2.  How do I do this with out losing my activation codes.
    Thank you

No, do not uninstall/reinstall.   What you need to do is reset preferences.   Hold down the Crtl key and start Bridge.  You will get a reset window, choose all 3 options.  That should get you back to normal.

  • Reinstalling CS2, and dragging/dropping files does not work

I have Photoshop CS2. Or at least I
had it. I had updated my operating system to Tiger, and it just caused a bunch of files to change, nothing really bad. It gave me an error message upon opening photoshop that "files necessary for running Photoshop were missing from the Application Support folder"
So I read the advice on this FAQ:
Scott Weichert, "Double-click/Drag-&-drop Photoshop files opens application but not file or I get a message saying that some files in Application Support are missing and I have to reinstall. (Photoshop CS/CS2/CS3)" #, 29 Dec 2003 2:45 pm
And did what it said. I trashed the CS2 folder, and now when I try to re-install it my serial number won't work. Is my $400 serial number now permanently registered on a nonexistent platform?
As an active photographer and graphic artist, I need Photoshop constantly. So any advice would be greatly appreciated as soon as possible. Thank you.

The problem you got into is a known problem after updating to Tiger. It is a small 4K file that gets trashed with the update. It is called the Adobe Unit Types. Both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements need this file to function.
One way to get it back is to reinstall Photoshop, the other is to add this file again.
You can get the file from here http://www.dd.se/Tips/bildbehandling/downloads/AdobeUnitTypes.zip
It is only 3,7 KB big.
You put the file you download here:
[hard disk] /Library/ScriptingAdditions. If you don't have a Scripting Additions folder, you create it.
As you trashed Photoshop, you need to completely deinstall it to be able to reinstall it.

  • How do  I reinstall CS2 on Windows 7?

I had to reformat a HD and reinstall Windows 7 and all my applications. When I try to re-install CS2, I get two problems. It doesn't let me install into its default folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe). There is a message that illegal characters are present in the file path. I believe that it was installed there initially (computer was purchased with Windows 7 - not an upgrade). I did install in the Program Files folder but it will not let me activate the program and says my 30 day trial is over so the program doesn't even give me a chance to enter anything.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

  • CANNOT REMOVE OR REINSTALL CS2  "Missing or Invalid Personalization Information"

    Hello,
I am having all kinds of trouble with CS2. My company aquired a copy of the web based version to replace the outdated CS2 product CD we purchased years ago. The copy we got from adobe support is the web based version which is supposed to work with windows 7. It will install fine on a fresh install of windows 7, but when I got to install it on another W7 machine that has previously had CS2/CS5 installed on it, it gets an error any time I try to install the web based version we got. I have removed the previous installations of CS2 and CS5 (this includes the manual removal of CS2 using support docs from Adobe, but somehow the program is still in control panel> program list. The error I get when trying to install on the problem child is "The installer could not start because of the following reasons: Missing or invalid personalization information. Missing resource library.". Like I said I have removed all of the files and registry entries for these programs that I can find manually, but this error keeps halting the CS2 web based version installer, and CS2 is still showing up in the program list, so there HAS to be some files hiding somewhere. This is when a removal tool is just a no brainer... but that is no where to be found on the interwebs. If anyone has any information to put me onto a fix for this WITHOUT reinstalling windows I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks

You have insufficient privileges to access the registry or your virus scanner is blocking it. Nothing Adobe can fix for you, you need to find the culprit on your system and/ or fix the registry permissions as explained here:

  • I cannor uninstall to reinstall CS2 - i've tried manually & w/ windows installer cleanup utility....

i have been using illustrator 10 & CS5 photoshop trial version fine on my windows vista (illustrator for 2 yrs on this computer). i got CS2 so i uninstalled both programs before installing the CS2. after installing i never got a finished window & it just closed. when i tried to open illustrator & indesign it closed as soon as it finished opening. photoshop did ask for registration info & then shut down/closed as well. i tired to uninstall from program/features in control panel but it doesn't work, it doesn't prompt me to do anything so adobe help had me install the windows installer clean up utility to remove programs not installed correctly. they are still not uninstalled & when i tried to reinstall the 1st cd gets to initializing & then stops. i now have removed all the adobe folders from my c drive & still cannot remove. i need to reinstall - HELP!!!! thankyou.

+it's essentially telling me I'm not the administrator when not only am I, but I'm the ONLY user on this computer+
Your sig says XPS. I assume that means XP. Your permissions must be corrupt in the registry, even though you are on an admin account. I got this same error when I upgraded my laptop to XP SP3. I had to run a tool from microsoft to fix it.
Scroll down to the advanced troubleshooting section on this page and run the subinacl stuff. I went and watched a movie while it ran - just be patient.

  • Reinstalling CS2 on a computer with new hardrive

As most of us know, I purchased Photoshop CS2 as a perpetual licence. However, Adobe shut down the activation server so I can only use the software for 30days and then I need to reinstall it.Every 30 days.
Adobe now claims to provide a work around by providing a non-activation version of CS2 for free for previous purchasers of CS2. I tried installing this version with the new Serial Number and the installation process took me through a successful conclusion so I thought. During the installation process, I typed the new Serial Number, Name and Organization as part of the installation process.
When I lauched Adobe CS2 on my computer, I get the following error message:
    Adobe Photoshop
Your Adobe Photoshop user name, organization, or serial number missing or invalid. The application cannot continue and must now exit.
    OK "button"
After clicking the OK button, the program shuts down.
I cannot get this to work on my computer as I tried many uninstalls and installs. The only way to get CS2 to work is the install the CD version which will only last for 30 days.
If anyone as a solution for this problem, I would appreciate it. By the way, I have this running on Windows 8.1 professional 64bit version. The CD version works fine but is limited to 30 days because of the activation limitation.
I think ADOBE should hold up to their bargain. I purchased a perpetual licence, Not one that expires after a fixed number years.

  • Reinstalling CS2.3 on a new computer

The computer I originally installed my CS2.3 crashed. I cannot reinstall on a new computer with the Installation Code that I had.
Adobe is not supporting CS2.3 anymore b/c it's 2 upgrades behind.
This is ridiculous. I paid for this software and need to use it. What is one supposed to do if they cannot afford an upgrade?
Can and shouldn't Adobe remove the licensing restriction when they don't support a previous version anymore?
    Any help, ideas?

It turns out i did what the article said unknowingly!!!
So the software is installed, however, my problem is that Adobe doesn't support CS2 anymore and I'm stuck w/o being able to reinstall my software b/c the 1 user license was already installed and I cannot get a replacement license for my new computer.
IF ADOBE DOESN'T SUPPORT A PRODUCT THEY ABSOLUTELY MUST REMOVE THE LICENSE RESTRICTIONS ON IT AND NOT TRY TO FORCE PEOPLE TO DISH OUT MORE MONEY FOR THEIR PRODUCT UPGRADES! MONEY HUNGRY CORPORATES.
    This totally sucks!

  • CS4 reinstall & CS2 serial number

My iMac has been fitted with a new hard drive & I need to reinstall CS4 Design Standard UPSL.
I have the boxed serial number.
I am asked for the serial number of my previous product to prove my upgrade route; I am given options to select individual CS2 components (eg. Illustrator, Photoshop) but not Creative Suite 2 Standard which is the product and serial number I have.
So it's a dead end. I am working by using the 30 day trial option but need to crack this urgently!
Any suggestions gratefully received, with thanks.
