I need to see how to reinstall Elements after my hard drive was replaced. My version of Elements was a download from Adobe.

Did you make the backup of downloaded software? Generally people tend to make backups of all software they buy digitally including a record of the necessary serial number for events like you are describing.
If you try to login to your account at Adobe then you might find a link and the serial number otherwise try thios link:

You will need serial number to activate this product otherwise it would be a complete waste of time downloading such a big file again.

C Drive irreparably crashed. The PSE8 catalog folder was in C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Adobe, etc. and was backed up on a different drive (Yay Me!). The Pictures were in E:\ Elements Pictures\ (117 GB). When Windows was reinstalled, the Drive Letters were changed by the reinstall program, such that the Windows boot drive is now the E drive and the Pictures are on the D: drive, but still in their original folder. (Ultimately, the plan to get a new Drive, rename it C, and reinstall Windows on it.)
It appears that I cannot use "Backup and Restore" as is the common response to "How do I move Elements and Pictures to a new Computer?"
I can reinstall PSE8 on my E (boot) drive, then replace the new catalog folder with the old one which has my data. How do I then get that catalog to look to the Pictures on the drive which has a new letter (D)? I cannot reinstate the old drive letter, as that letter is now in use as the boot drive letter.
Am I better off just waiting for the new C drive, reinstalling Windows there, replacing the catalog folder, and relettering the Pictures drive to its old Letter? It may be awhile before I get the new C drive as I am waiting for Seagate to replace under warranty the dead drive, and would like to if at all possible continue to use PSE8 in the interim.

My hard drive recently crashed and I have an all new one now. My comp is running Mavericks and I need to reinstall Lightroom 4 (that was the latest version I was using, and I downloaded it, no cd). How do I reinstall it?? When I go to "My Orders," the download option is not available.

I believe this might of worked after all. I did like you said and double clicked on the My Catalog file. PSA and it just put in the timeline and dates on the pictures but had a ? mark and no picture. I then chose to dowload files from the My pictures folder that the downloader was directed to for each download. It seems to restoring the photo's and putting them with the tags and all. I am so relieved because I had 37,500 pictures that would of been untagged and out of order. I learned my lesson to do a backup more frequently! Thanks for your help. If I would want to update to PSE 9 is it compatible with windows XP?

Reinstalling Adobe CS4 after Hard Drive Crash

Hi, I am a student and I bought the Adobe CS4 Design Premium Student Licensing Editon a few months ago and recently my hard drive died on me and I had to get it replaced. So, I was just wondering if I had to deactivate my serial number for my CS4 suite first before installing it again on my new hard drive. I've contacted the adobe customer service and the adobe technical support and they both told me I could just reinstall it with no problem. I just wanted to confirm this a third time before I do it, and to note, I didn't buy the product directly from Adobe, I bought it from a website called JourneyEd.com.
Also, the technical support person I contacted, told me you could install the student licensing edition on two computers. (I thought it was just one) Is this true?

You can install it on a million computers. You can only activate it on two computers for your own non-simultaneous use.

You can just install CS6 directly. You will be prompted to enter your qualifying serial number from CS3 during the install process.

Syncing iPhone with Outlook 2007 after hard drive crash.

I recently had a hard drive crash. We were able to retrieve the .pst files for Outlook 2007 and I sync my iPhone with Outlook for contacts, calendar and such for business. The iPhone of course, was not affected. I downloaded iTunes on the new hard drive, and backed up the phone. (I sync music and apps on my husband's laptop.)
Now, in trying to sync, though, I get a lot of nebulous messages that really don't explain what the outcome will be.
Box says:
The information on the iPhone "Susan's iPhone" is synced with another user account. Do you want to sync this iPhone with the information from this user account instead?
(Choices: "Merge Info mergest th einformation on this iPhone with the information from this user account. OR "Replace Info" replaces the information on this iPhone with the information from this user account. )
My best guess would be 'Merge info" but then, will I end up with double everything? I have many hundreds of contacts and years of calendars.
It seems with Apple I'm always cleaning up one mess after another. Today when installing iTunes, it corrupted my Outlook and I had to repair Outlook. So it would be a nightmare to have double of everything on my phone and on my computer.
Does anyone have a clue as to what to expect?

On a PC with Windows or with Paralels iTunes 8.2 has an option for Outlook which works with Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 (if it works - see my post on a case where it doesn't ...)

Can I install Snow Leopard over Lion to install old software after hard drive crashed?

My hard drive crashed and I lost everything. I have a new hard drive, but when the repair shop installed my operating system, they installed Lion and I no longer have my prior updates. My computer had been updated a few times. I have a lot of software that only can be installed up to 10.7 such as Adobe Photoshop Elements 10, Office Mac 2011, etc. I was wondering if I installed Snow Leopard over Lion, would I lose Lion? Should I install Snow Leopard and then Lion again? I don't want to damage my like new computer and I don't want to have to go out and buy all new software. Is there a solution? Thanks in advance!

Sounds complicated! If I repartition the drive and install Snow Leopard onto the blank volume, will Lion still be there? Or, will the computer basically have two operating systems that I have to go back and forth from. Is this something a novice like myself can do?

Restoring 10.7.X after hard drive crash

My 2007 Macbook had a hard drive crash. I replaced the drive, reinstalled 10.6 (and updates) from the purchased disk, and restored all of the original software.
I was previously running 10.7, Lion, but now I am unable to find this on the App Store. I originally purchased 10.7 from the App Store by download, but I do not have a hard copy of the OS? I would like to get it back to 10.7. I understand that the Macbook will not be compatible with Mountain Lion.
How do I do this?

Restoring after hard drive crash

Hi- I had a hard drive crash. I had everything backed up on Carbonite. So I've reinstalled Lightroom 4.2 and am a little confused on how to restore everything back to Lightroom with all my metadata and changes etc
I am using Windows 7 and have already restored my files back onto the computer. I've done some research but it makes my head hurt and have seen several different ways to do it . I just want to make sure I don't mess it up. Can anyone help, please I would be very appreciative.

Cannot sync iPod after hard drive crash

Hard drive crashed last week so reinstalled new from Dell. Data all backed up. Since new drive in cannot sync iPod. USB cable OK, iTunes "sees" iPod name and can download to iTunes but no sync. Do not get any kind of error msg that iPod registered on "another" computer (which it was). Still under warranty.

Try restoring the iPod in itunes. This should assure that it sync with the current computer it's hooked up to.

yes, a few times. the number of authorised computers decreases and increases from zero to one and vice versa accordingly. yet I am still being told that it cannot sync.

Time Machine after hard drive crash

Recently, my MacBook's hard drive crashed. Fortunately, I had most of my data backed up via Time Machine. So, once Apple installed a new hard drive, I "restored all" with Time Machine. Now when I launch Time Machine, my archive only goes back a few days, to when I initially "restored all" -- before, my archives went back to November. Where did all of my backups go? How can I get them to show up in Time Machine?

when TM does the first backup after a full system restore it sometimes does a complete (or nearly complete) backup. This happened to me once. this creates a big space demand to accommodate that backup and if there is not enough space TM will start deleting old backups to create space. To check this open TM drive in finder, go to Backups.backupdb->computer-name folder. all available backups will be listed there chronologically. how far back does it go?

After hard drive crash, Pages app brought over, and upgrade to snow leopard installed, Pages would not launch. Re-downloaded the 3.0.3 update and Pages launched, but will not open any documents or start new document.

I do not have the disks and the computer was given to me by my son with iWork 08 installed, so I do not have the ability to re-install using Purchases. I re-installed the update 3.0.3, which I already had, but thought it worth a try. That enabled Pages to launch, but it will not open a new or old document. I can see in preview the document, but it will not open. Any suggestions besides repurchasing Pages. I've just put out a lot of money for a new hard drive and retrieval of apps and docs from the old hard drive and would like not to have to put more money in it.

You can not simply drag over Pages, particularly if it was perhaps damaged in a crash.
As it was only Pages '08 it may be time to upgrade to Pages '09 from the App Store. It is not that expensive and will allow you to install it on any Mac sharing the same Apple I.D. and protect you from a repeat of this problem.
There are free alternatives to Pages if you are hard strapped, it depends on what you are using Pages for, it is not the only option by far.
