Reinstall fcp

can I reinstall just fcp without installing motion, stp, etc...

Yes, of course.
But are reinstalling to a volume that has Motion, etc. already installed.
Just use the customize button as the installer progresses.

  • Snow Leopard 10.6.2 upgrade stopped FCP... reinstall FCP fixed the problem

Very strange fault occurred after upgrading to 10.6.2: Final Cut Pro 7 crashed immediately at startup with:
    Exception Type: EXCBADACCESS (SIGBUS)
    Exception Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE at 0x0000000000000000
I tried a number of fixes, none of which made any difference. A few others seem to have had problems with FCP & one source recommended rolling back to 10.6.1 by reinstalling 10.6.0 and then upgrading to 10.6.1. This I was loathe to do. On a hunch I reinstalled FCP after turning off what extras I could, such as the audio content to save time. It took a while but fixed the problem.
I have no idea why the program failed in this way, of course.

  • Trying to reinstall FCP 3...asking for original CD

    Hello all-
Maybe someone can help. I'm trying to reinstall FCP 3. I'm getting a message asking for the original CD. When I pop it in the same message comes up.
    How do I fix this?
By the way, I'm on 10.4.11
    Thanks

I do not believe FCP 3 will install under 10.4
You need to either upgrade FCP to a current version or revert your osx installation to 10.3

  • How to uninstall and reinstall FCP 7 ?

I just found out that my FCP 7 on Mac Pro is corrupted and wouldn't capture DV format although it would capture HDV without problem. FCP 7 on Mac Book Pro works fine.
What's the most efficient way to uninstall and reinstall FCP 7 from the Final Cut Studio 2 upgrade?

  • Remember When?  Pitfalls of reinstalling FCP 4.5

I primarily edit for personal use and pleasure, not for a living. I'm one of those who has a system that has worked for me and I've stuck with it. But, now, a problem has developed that requires attention.
I can no longer capture footage. My FCP system properly edits previously captured footage but the system freezes when I try to capture new footage. It freezes whether I use capture now, capture clip or batch digitize. I get the spinning beach ball and have to shut down my computer to escape the freeze. I end up with a hugh, unusable file that I have to trash. I am playing back on a Sony Beta SP UVW 1800 deck and digitizing through a Blackmagic Decklink SP card at 8 bit uncompressed.
I've noticed, leading up to the inception of this problem, that FCP was not retaining all of my settings all of the time. I would quit FCP, reopen it and it wouldn't open to the last program I was editing. Often the capture settings would be changed. And occasionally, upon starting FCP, the window requesting that I register FCP would pop up. I registered when I purchased the system.
I have rebuilt the permissions, run Tech Tools and Disk Warrior, trashed the FCP Prefs (manually and by using "FCP Rescue") and unplugged all of my external drives to attempt to capture to the internal hard drive. Interestingly enough, when I tried unplugging the external drives I was able to capture properly on the first attempt but the computer would freeze on the second capture attempt.
I am guessing that now I should try reinstalling FCP. I've never done this and am nervous. I've searched this forum and printed out suggestions on how to remove the FCP application and preferences. My question is this: Are there pitfalls to reinstalling for which I should be aware? I'm concerned about loosing QuickTime. Should I be? As you veterans will remember, FCP 4.5 doesn't play well with QT 7.X. Do I need to be concerned about the rest of the production suite? Motion-Live Type- Soundtrack-etc. And, finally, what don't I know about reinstalling that might prevent a disaster?
Thanks for any help anyone might be willing to offer.

clean wipe and install of os X?
is that necessary....im afraid of this problem of not being able to run compressor, snowballing into a problem of not being able to use the computer for anything. in backing up critical files...how do i know what files are associated with an application for example....i have some programs that i no longer have the software for...how do i know what files i need to archive in order to return them to the drive later and guarantee that they will work?
basically...at this point i could care less about compressor...i need to get final cut HD working and i need to protect all the other applications currently on my computer.....
is htere any possible way of just tooling around with FCP related files instead of doing a system reinstall?
    thanks.

  • HT4928 I need to reinstall FCP X

I need to reinstall FCP X but in the app store it says I installed it and I do not have the possibility to download it again. Same with iPhoto. I have paid for these apps. Any suggestions are welcome.

  • Uninstall Reinstall FCP X Missing Projects, Events, Libraries

My situation is a mess. Once I updated FCP X to Mavericks, it went bad. FCP would not export. It would not stop rendering. I had no option but to uninstall and reinstall it. Prior to doing so, I went to "movies" and copied "FCP Events" and "FCP Projects" and pasted them to an external. Well, as you all know, the updated FCP so brilliantly (heavy emphasis on sarcascm) created this library crap that I don't quite comprehend yet. I reinstalled FCP and I pasted projects and events into movies. I cannot access events and projects that I previously had. I know that I must still have them (right?) because I copied and pasted everything. But FCP is not reading them for some reason. I don't know how or where to properly paste the prior projects and events into the framework of the new version in order to make them accessible.
Secondly, how do I go about storing my FCP media on an external so that FCP reads from the external. I am editing on a Mac Air (I know I am an idiot for buying an air for editing) and my hardrive is almost full.
I know this is no where near to being as clear as need be to illuminate my host of problems. You patience, further inquiries and answers are more than appreciated.
    Thanks!

You have to use the update function to update the old projects and events to libraries.
Copy your current projects and events folders to the external drive into folders called Final Cut Projects and Final Cut Events. Run the update function and select the external drive to be update.
There is a great deal of information available online about this update. You might start

  • Reinstalling FCP will force "Reconnect Media"?

I was advised to reinstall the full version of my FCP because there seems to be something corrupting my FCP files. General Error and other issues have made many of the files unreadable or corrupted.
Will reinstalling the full program do I uninstall the entire FCP first before reinstalling FCP?
Or jus reinstall the full program?
Will the newly installed FCP cause any problems like recognizing the "Capture Scratch" files? Or does the new install version continue working with all the files on both internal and external drives?

    Uninstall everything using this utility:
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcs_remover.htm
Then reinstall. Whether or not it will work no one can say, you'll have to wait and find out.

  • Can I install ONLY Compressor 1.2.1 without reinstalling FCP 4.5?

I need to reinstall Compressor 1.2.1 (the earlier version before I update) because of the dreaded "cannot connect to background process" (paraphrase) error. I can get to the custom install screen and uncheck everything except Compressor, but I can't uncheck the FCP app itself. Do I have to reinstall FCP, too, just to reinstall Compressor?!?!
I have 4.5 HD and am using a G5 dual 2 (NOT Intel) with 1.5GB of RAM, and am running OS X 10.4.8.
    Thanks in advance...
    Lloyd

Thanks... just one more quick question:
After I re-installed Compressor 1.2.1 and restarted, I got an error message saying "An item in the Startup Items folder ("/Library/StartupItems/Qmaster") does not have the proper security settings." and then the rest of the message... My question is, do I need to have Qmaster running if I'm not using a cluster? It seems like no matter what I do now, I can't get Compressor to work (reinstall it without my Ethernet cable attached, reinstalling only the Compressor .pkg file/bundle, etc.). Do you have any idea what I might be doing wrong or what I have to do to get this to work? I tried to bypass Compressor and let DVDSP 3.0.2 handle all the encoding, but no matter how low I make the MbPs, I still get an error message that it's too high. I also have chapter markers, so I'm not sure of a work-around.
Again, I'm using the FCP 4.5 HD package. Is this common? I'm thinking of using iDVD...it's not as professional, but at least it works.
    Thanks,
    Lloyd

  • Reinstalling FCP...

Trying to reinstall FCP Studio 2 over an older bootleg version of studio 2. I have the real CD's now, brand new. I tried to reinstall it but it never asks me for the new serial number. It only updates the old FCP. I go through the entire process and it still uses the old version in the end.
I have tried deleting every Final Cut Pro file on the computer through "Find and Search" but I cannot get rid of all of it.
Is there some secret preference folder somewhere with FCP files? Can someone please tell me the places to look I am not looking to delete the old FCP?

    Try moving/deleting this file:
Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/ProApps/Final Cut Studio System ID
Substitute the name of your system drive for "Macintosh HD" if its different.

  • I recently downloaded / installed FCP X before reading to NOT install it on a volume containing a previous version of FCP. I installed FCP X in the same Applications folder as FCP v6. I have moved FCP 6 to the trash, but now, should I reinstall FCP X?

I recently downloaded / installed FCP X into the same folder as a previous version of FCP before reading to NOT do that. I've trashed the older version of FCP, but now what? Has there been damage done? Should I trash FCP X and reinstall it?

Hi Andy, You say that when installing FCP X the old FCP should move to a new folder called Final Cut Studio. I have just installed FCP X Trial and checked in the applications folders and nothing has changed. Final Cut Pro is where it has always been.
Hmm. I din't have experience of the trial version - maybe it doesn't move legacy FCP.
Make a new folder (Final Cut Studio) in the Applications folder, and drag FCP there.
I have also found that the sound effects in FCP X keep disappearing and I need to re start FCP X for them to appear again. This has happened several times today.
This could be a case of a conflict with Final Cut Pro. What do you think?
I doubt it, but FCP X is a fickle application.
If moving FCP doesn't fix it, post a new topic to ask about this.

  • Can You Reinstall FCP 7 Over An Existing FCP 7 Install?

I know this must seem like a stupid question, but my exisiting FCP 7 install has gone south and is acting squirrelly as all get out. Is it possible to throw in my FCS discs and just reinstall over the exisitng install? Will I lost my plugins in the process?
Or should I use something like Digital Rebellion's FCS remover first and essentially do a "clean" install?
    Thanks for all comments.

Before you do either, have you tried to trash your FCP preferences?
Digital Rebellion also makes a free tool to do just that:

  • How can I reinstall FCP 7?

Final Cut 7 is crashing on launch. I went through the usual recommended troubleshooting steps to no avail. Following suggestions, I used FCS Remover to start from scratch. I reached into my cabinet to reinstall from the origianl FCS 2 disks but they won't work with the current generation OS Mavericks. So I tried to reinstall from my FCS UPgrade disks, but since FCP has been removed in previous steps, the installer won't allow that upgrade :-(
    Any thoughts?

    MtD,
Thanks for taking time to reply. The following is a screen shot of the FCS installer:
Up to this point I have not been asked for any serial #s. As you can see, the Final Cut Pro option is greyed out and therefore not selectable. I don't need to reinstall the other apps as I no longer use them. I only use FCP 7 for legacy projects. When I go forward and deselect those files I don't wish to install, it still doesn't allow FCP to install.

  • How do I reinstall FCP X?

Having trouble with FCP X since latest update and need to reinstall. App store says 'installed' even though I've put FCP X in the trash.

    Hi ..
    Try this...
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed  then click Install.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
The App Store has no way of knowing that you have moved the app to the Trash. The only way to delete an app and all it's associated files is to use a utility like > Download AppCleaner for Mac - Uninstall your apps easily. MacUpdate.com

  • Reinstalling FCP Studio

    Hi,
I'm having some trouble reinstalling the FCP Studio. My system was giving me massive amounts of kernal panics, so I reinstalled the OS. I then started reinstalling the Studio. I got about 4 discs into the install when I got an error message saying that the instalation couldn't be completed and that I should try again. I did that and got the same error message except much sooner this time. I tried dumping all of the installed Studio files and starting over, but got the same result. Could this behavior be connected to the earlier kernal panics or is this something new?
Any help or insight is very much appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Dual 2.5 G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Here's my update:
I was finally able to install FCS. I don't know what I did differently, but the last time I tried to install it, the whole thing took. So, that's good.
I downloaded Rember and ran single tests on 12 different chip combinations (Chips A & B, Chips C & D, Chips B & C, etc...) All tests failed. I plugged in the original RAM that came with the computer, ran Rember and those chips failed the tests. I set Rember to test to infinity and left it running for the night. When I came in this morning, the Kernal Panic screen was up. So, is it possible that every single memory stick in the office is bad, or could the RAM be failing because of a larger problem?
Should I download Memtest and go into single user mode to test the RAM that way?
    Thanks!
