Reinstall help Word 2010/ Win 7

I recently had to replace the system drive on my desktop computer.   I have a desktop and a laptop.   I purchased separate copies of Word2010 for each of them, but of course I didn't mark the CDs as to which one went where.  Is
there a way to tell from the installed software which CD it was loaded from so I get the right install key for the reinstallation?  Thanks.

Hi,
I agree with Stefan, if the two copies are the same version, don't worry about mismatching the disc and key.
The Activation Wizard will appear if you’ve made significant changes to the hardware on the PC. If you haven't, you don't have to re-enter the keys at all.
If you have trouble re-activating the products, please contact Customer Service and explain to the service (human beings) your scenario.

  • Importing a .doc file into RH7 using Word 2010?

They recently upgraded me to Office 2010 here and now I can't import word files (even the older .doc style for Word 97/2003) into RH HTML. I get this error message:
"The Import Word Document Wizard cannot locate a supported version of Microsoft Word.
Please install Microsoft Word 2000 or newer."
I'm assuming this is because RH 7 doesn't support Office 2010? Are there workarounds for this?
    Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the Importing topics on my site as the HTML of the topics created may need some cleaning up.
For the benefit of anyone else, yes you do need a compatible version of Word to import a document that is in .DOC format.

  • RoboHelp 9, Win 7, Word 2010 : Macros not running due to Security Settings

I've just upgraded from RH7, Win XP, Office 2003,  and cannot get RoboHelp for word to run on new Laptop running Win7 and Word 2010.  By not running I mean the program will start and open Word OK, but try and run any RoboHelp command in a pre existing project and the dreaded "The MAcro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your Macro Security setting" warnign is presented :-
This is despite settings macro settings appropriately in Word 2010 trust centre :-
Oddly enough an installation on a Network with Windows 7 starter does not present this as an issue.
I have Admin rights on both machines, can anyone suggest were else I go and/or what else I can try to cotrrect this issue ?
    Thanks.

    Peter,
Thanks for the prompt response and usual sage advice.  Firstly in answer to your question this was a 32 Bit version issue.  That I was accessing via a company system account with Admin Privileges.
Before posting I had reviewed the thread you suggested, after reviewing it again I set about spending another day trying to reslove this issue.  This included, test installations on 2 seperate PC's with Windows 7 (32 Bit) and Office 2010.  Both seperate installations were flawless, so one has to assume there was something wrong with the initial PC.  Back to basics, conducting a system restore on the fault installed PC to a known good point, Completely uninstalling RoboHelp 9 including deleting all templates, file remnants and registry settings. as per Adobe Uninstall instructions (http://kb.adobe.com/cps/881/cpsid_88189.html) , followed this by a complete Windows scan to correct any incorrect file systems / structures, Cleaned registry and created local Administrator account on the PC.  Via the local administrator account conducted a "repair' over Office 2010 to ensure  file structure integrity, Run Word and set Trust centre and file permissions as per the 2 working instructions (Note as I was using some word documents based on word 97 templates I made sure the permissions on those te,plates would run (Un ticked)), conducted clean install of Robohelp 9 and tested.  No longer getting Macro errors. Program running correctly. Re-booted and  Logged back into machine using company account setting, and problem fixed at that location.  (There was concern that company account policy may have been causing the issue)
As company Sys Admin had initially installed the software I am uncertan as to what machine profile they used.  I suspect s installing under a Local admin profile assisted in correcting the issue.
As a final step, although the program runs OK in normal mode, I set the start up to always run as "Administrator".  This alters the toolbar options within Word with RoboHelp commands being present via a specific "RoboHelp' Tab rather than grouped in the "Add Ins" tab.
I know you will also say (As you have advised me some years ago when I raised another issue that you assisted in) that I probably shouldn't be working in RoboHelp for Word and better to be working in HTML, however I dread the thought of migrating what are fairly large projects and staff accessng the final results much prfer the older Help format rather than the CHM or web based formats of now.  From an administrative and distribution viewpoint our environment likes a single file distribution system that the older systems provide.
Thanks once again for the and direction.  Hopefully other users, should they be confronted with a similar issue find this as some help.

  • Reinstalling Acrobat Pro Add In to Word 2010

I had to reinstall my office 2010 on my computer.  I am also running Acrobat xi Pro which was fine and did not need to be reinstalled.
When the installation and updates to Office 2010 were completed I noted that my Acrobat xi Pro add-in for word was gone.
I need to reinstall it.  How do I do that without reinstalling the enite Acrobat xi Pro application?
    Gordon Jacobson

Sorry but your response is incorrect.
One does NOT have to reinstall Acrobat Pro to fix this problem.  I figured out that all one had to do was run the Repair tool which can be found in the Help pulldown menu.
BTW, the add-ins were NOT disabled.  They had been removed.

  • Lost temporary file in Word 2010. really need help

    I did two stupid things:
    1. I downloaded a word document from gmail but I chose to open it directly instead of saving it and then opening it.  I am sure this created a temporary file somewhere.  I had to Enable Editing afterwards.
    2. I made several edits to the document and then didn't save it.
A few minutes ago, my Microsoft Word window just CLOSED.  I don't know if it crashed.  There was no message about any errors, it just disappeared from my taskbar.
I would assume that Word would continue to autosave with a temp file just as it does with a standard file, but I guess I am wrong.  I tried checking the Autosave directory for Word and found nothing.  I believe I opened the file using Internet
Explorer 9, so I checked the temp internet files folder in Internet Options and also found nothing.  The file does not show up in my list of recent documents, and opening Word did not show me any prompt to restore Autosaved files.
Can anyone give me some guidance on how I can get back my document with all of its edits?  It must have been stored as a temporary file SOMEWHERE.  I am trying to use Recuva to see if I can find it as a deleted file, but some professional guidance
as to which folders I should focus on or what the file might have been named would be helpful (do Autosaves of temp documents get some obscure name, for instance?)
For example, I tested by opening a text file from an email in gmail, and then I tried finding where that text file exists and I could not locate it nor did Windows Explorer search find it, so I'm hoping the file is hiding in that same place.
I'm running Word 2010 on Windows 7 Ultimate.  Thanks.

I found the file.  It was located in \user\appdata\local\microsoft\windows\temporary internet files\content.ie5\gibberishdirectory\.  The strange thing is that I can only browse up to \windows\ in that directory path in Windows Explorer and then
\temporary internet files\ does not appear.  I do have "Show hidden files and folders" on, so I don't understand why I can't see it.  Windows Search was not helpful either.  I finally found the file by downloading and installing the freeware
"Super Finder" which located the file and the secret directory in about 30 seconds (I told it to search in \user\appdata\ because my hunch was I'd find the file there).  Maybe it has something to do with IE9's protected mode?

  • I cannot sync my contact groups from Outlook 2010 (Win 7) onto my iPad.  Can anyone help please ?

I cannor sync my contact groups from Outlook 2010 (Win 7) onto my iPad.  Can anyone help please ?

  • When opening .doc from website link, FF appends .docx extention to file & does not open in Word 2010, with incorrect file format error. Pls Help

I'm using Firefox v12 to open a hyperlink from a website that points to a filename.doc MS Word Document for download.
We are then asked to open the file with MS Word (Default), which our installed version is MS Word 2010.
Firefox then renames the file appending a .docx to the filename e.g filename.doc.docx. MS Word 2010 opens with error 'incorrect file format', which is correct as Firefox has renamed it.
Is there a fix or workaround for this?

    Hello Jscher2000,
I can save the file and it opens fine.
It's when I open it directly, Firefox appends the 'docx' extenstion to the filename.
If I continue to reopen from the web link, Firefox renames the file as so
    mydoc.doc-1.docx
    mydoc.doc-2.docx
    mydoc.doc-3.docx
I can open a .doc from a Microsoft site ok.
I have the feeling it's the way the web server is reporting the mime type to Firefox.
The link in question works fine in Internet Explorer.
    best regards,
    Youngielinux.

  • Word 2010 to pdf in Acrobat X under Win 7 64: numbers and letters added to bookmarks

In some documents I convert, the bookmarks are prefixed with what appear to be 'internal' codes like 99B; in others -- based on the same template, and with the same formatting -- the bookmarks are created appropriately. It's clearly a Word 2010/Acrobat X interaction, but I cannot pin down the source of the problem. I've copy/pasted text from an offending .doc file into a fresh file, based on a different template, without success. Any advice will be gratefully received.
    Thank you,
    JGH

There is nothing to activate the AcroTray.
Most if not all are running 32-bit.
Are you talking about the coping the whole 'Abobe PDF' directory in the All Users.

  • Blank Page appears after converting MS Word (2010 on Win 7) document to PDF using Adobe Acrobat XI

    Hi,
Even after updating to the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Pro XI (11.0.2). While converting a MS Word 2010 .docx format document to .pdf, the cover page with text, image and background color, appears blank with only the background color.
Apperciate if someone can give me a resolution for this issue.
    Best Regards

The coverpage gets converted in Acrobat.com cloud service. Is Abobe going to fix this bug in the Acrobat XI version too?

  • Calandar Help For Microsoft Word 2010!

In Microsoft Word 2010 how do I add a calandar that already has every holiday on each month that it's suppossed to be so that I won't have to type or write it on there and how do I save it as a template in Word 2010 so that I can use it every time I need
to and also be able to start with any year and be able to work with one month at a time and then print out the 12  months separately thereby working with each month separately and type in any day of the week and then go to the next month from there and
type on it as well each separate day of the week?
    Bryan

    Hi,
Do you mean the Calendar template in Word when you click File > New? If so, I'm afraid there is no build-in template which meets the request in Microsoft Word. I've found a template for Excel, but nothing for Word.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/templates/any-year-calendar-with-holidays-TC104014201.aspx
You may need to find some third-party templates to achieve the goal.

  • Acrobat x and Word 2010 NOT Compatable

I have three computers with idential build. The only difference is one has acrobat x standard, one has acrobat x pro, and one third has acrobat 9 pro
    Using X.
When making pdfs through word 2010 two things happen. Either word freezes, shutsdown, and then tells me the add on is corrupt. Or it will make the pdf but it is very slow and images or text or shaded boxes disappear. I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled without success. This happens onboth computers using X.
If i go to the computer with 9 the pdfs are quick and works without issue. The only reason we upgarded was because 9 was not supposed to be compatable with word 2010. Apparently X is not either.
Please help if you have any suggestions.
    Thanks

  • RoboHelp for Word installed from RoboHelp 10 won't work with Word 2010

I have a Help project created in RoboHelp for Word 8.  I recently upgraded from Word 2007 to Word 2010 and discovered that RH8 for Word won't work with Word 2010.  So I purchased RoboHelp 10 and have installed RoboHelp for Word from it.  Alas, RH for Word STILL won't work with Word 2010.  When I try to open my project, I get this message:
Before I bought RH10, I live-chatted with an Adobe sales person who assured me it was compatible with Word 2010.
BTW, I tried to roll back to Word 2007, but I was getting weird behavior running Word, so I have reinstalled Word 2010 and want to stay there.
    Any ideas?

I have just installed Rh10 for Word on a new machine and initially I got this message.
I wonder if you have followed those instuctions? I changed the setting to Enable All.
The other possibility is what do you have set for the default version? If it is 2007 and that no longer exists on your machine, then Rh will not be able to proceed. The dropdown should show 2010

  • Problem embedding pdf as object in Word 2010 64-bit

Wonder if there is a similar solution / upgrade / patch / hotfix or the like for Pro X

    Hi Dave,
Maurice's thread was locked because he is using Office 2010 Beta, and his post is in the forum for Office Beta, since the Beta is past due, the whole forum is locked.
Let's go back to your question.
Have you installed the Office 2010 Service Pack 1? The service pack fixes many issues, you should try if you haven't.
    Download
the Microsoft Office 2010 Service Pack 1 64-bit package now.
I may to metion is that all I know the Office 2010 64-bit will work smoothly with Windows 7 64-bit, cause I'm using it for my daily work.
So, the problem you met with mostly caused by the 3rd-party add-ins/services.
Have you tried to open the document by holding the Ctrl key? This will open the document in safe mode, if you are able to do so, this will help us to narrow down the root cause.
If it will crash even when you start it in safe mode, let's try to run a clean boot to check this issue. In a clean boot, lots of service will be disabled, if we wouldn't get problem in a clean boot, then we can enable the service little by little, then
we can find out which service might cause this issue.
For a detail instruction, you can refer to this kb:

  • MX885 causing cursor flash in word 2010

For some weeks my mx885 multifunction printer is causing constant and very annoying cursor flash (changing constantly from busy to normal and back) under word 2010. (WIN 7 x64 Office professional x86) If I change printer to anything else, evene mx 885 fax, this phenomenon disappears, but whenever I really want to print I always have to make the printer change procedure to avoid this.
Is there a driver version where this flaw have been corrected? Or is there one to await in the near future? Or any other solution to solve this?
    Thank you for your help!
