Reinstall iSync?

I have somehow managed to delete the iSync application some time ago. Now I need it reinstalled but would prefer not to have to reinstall Tiger from scratch... (might as well wait for Leopard then).
I have two isync files left om my disk. iSync.pkg and iSync21.pkg. When I try to install iSync.pkg I get an error msg that it could not install, nothing specific. When I try to install the iSync21.pkg it tells me that a newer version has already been installed!
Anyone any suggestions on what I could do?

Found this thread here. Perhaps this helps?

  • Reinstall isync/ isync can't find phones - 10.4.8

iSync was somehow deleted from my machine recently. I'm running 10.4.8.
I tried to use Pacifist to reinstall it from the OS X install disk.
It launches fine but was unable to find any bluetooth phones. (even ones it worked and synced with previously).
    Any help please?

    Amber:
The brank new iMacs have process chips made by Intel and are therefore called Intel Macs. The older Macs have what are called PowerPC processors, made by Motorola and are called PowerPC macs. The install disks from one platform will not run on the other. Besides Computer specific or upgrade versions should be avoided since they are optimized for the computer to which they are specific and will therefore, very likely, cause problems during or after installation. On the legal side, it may be a violation of the Software License Agreement which statesThis License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on a single computer at a time. This License does not allow the Apple Software to exist on more than one computer at a time...

  • ISync Failing to Launch, Reinstall Unsuccessful

I'm having a terrible problem with iSync on a G4 Powerbook running 10.4.11. I removed Palm Desktop by hand following these instructions from Palm:
    http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=PalmSupportKB,CASE=31318
and afterwards iSync wouldn't launch. It bounces in the dock for awhile, and eventually settles but never displays a black arrow underneath it. So, I reinstalled the system software using an Archive and Install, but had the same problem. Next, I reinstalled the iSync app by extracting it from my Tiger disk using Pacifist and then running the 10.4.11 combo updater to update it, and it's still exhibiting the same behavior.
Is there any way for me to completely reinstall iSync and it's supporting files aside from a new, clean install of Tiger?

I would not have bothered to remove the Palm Desktop, but looking at the instruction set they provided, I see no reason that iSync would have been adversely affected. Are you sure that iSync is in its default location in the Applications folder?
If it is anywhere else, including within a subfolder in the Applications folder, it will not have been affected by the update you reapplied.

  • ISync disappeared...but I can't reinstall!

Somehow, in the process of trying to get syncing with a Palm device, I lost my copy of the iSync app. I downloaded the iSync 2.1 installer and tried running that, but I get the error message "iSync cannot be installed on this computer. A newer version of this software is already installed."
I tried deleting all other iSync files in order to reinstall from scratch, but I still get the same error message, even though a Spotlight search shows no remaining (visible) iSync files.
How can I install? Is there an installer for the newer version I need? I am running Mac OS 10.4.5. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

The only source for an iSync 2 installer is your original Mac OS X 10.4 Install or Upgrade DVD, or a later equivalent installation disk. [One also exists for Mac OS X 10.4.3, for example.] You'll need to use Pacifist to extract and install the application, as it's not otherwise visible on the DVD. You can download Pacifist here:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/systemdiskutilities/pacifist.html
Launch it, insert your DVD, and wait for it to mount. Then…
    • press the Open Mac OS X Install Packages button to load the Essentials.mpkg file
    • find the Contents of Essential.pkg package, and click on the triangle to open it
    • click on the triangle in front of Applications to reveal several files, including iSync.app
    • select the iSync.app file and press the Install button
Once you've reinstalled iSync 2, you can reapply the Mac OS X 10.4.5 Combo updater to bring it up to version 2.1.1. It must be the Combo—not the Delta—updater, which you can find here:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosxupdate1045combo.html

  • ISync won't even launch- MacBook

    I just got a lovely Macbook 17"
It's perfect but for one thing- I can't get my Palm Zire 31 to sync with the macbook, and I suspect this has something to do with the fact that iSync won't even launch. It bounces a few times, and then nothing when I attempt to launch it. I can see the iSync menu but clicking it to drop-down is useless. I have to force quit it.
    Please help!

You must reinstall iSync using Pacifist and an original Mac OS X 10.4 Install or Upgrade DVD. To do so, download Pacifist:
    http://www.charlessoft.com
Then, launch Pacifist and insert your Mac OS X 10.4.2 Install DVD. Wait for it to mount, then press the Open Mac OS X Install packages button. It will begin loading the Essentials.mpkg files.
Find the Contents of Essential.pkg package, and click on the triangle to open it. Click on the triangle in front of the Applications folder, and it will open to reveal a number of files, including the iSync.app file. Select the iSync.app file and press the install button.
You will then have to reapply the latest Mac OS X 10.4.7 Combo update package for your intel-based MacBook Pro in order to update iSync 2 to version 2.3. You will find that package here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxupdate1047combointel.html

  • Can't add any devices to iSync

Hi - i've recently stoppped using my Mac Mini and gone back to my 12" Powerbook. I'd like to be able to sync my phone to my Mac, but I can't. I have the latest version of OSX and iSync 2.1, and I know my Sony Ericsson phone is compatible because I've used it with the same software on my Mac Mini.
The phone pairs with my Powerbook, and I can use Bluetooth file exchange, but when I open iSync, and select NEW DEVICE from the menu, nothing happens. no windows appear at all.
    I've tried...
    - rolling back to an earlier iSync version (it wouldn't let me since there was a newer version installed
    - trashing iSyncs preferences (the ones i could find anyways)
    - reinstalling 10.4 and reupgrading
    - reinstalling iSync 2.1
    So any ideas??

Yes, I figured out that iPod syncing moved to iTunes.
However, iSync does NOT recognize my phone (v265) via the USB cable. System profiler sees the phone fine. I guess this is a problem since Tiger for my supposedly supported phone:
    http://www.macfixitforums.com/php/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Forum23&Number=676983& page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=31&fpart=1
So now I'll have to jump through all these hoops using USB Prober and self-editing of the app just to get it to work the way it did right before the upgrade to Tiger. Good thing I'm technically savvy. Others in my situation might not have it as easy.

    Powerbook G4 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
If you are correct in profiling your configuration, you have serious problems and it's no wonder that your Tungsten won't synchronize. In fact, I don't think that your setup could be any more broken than it is!
If you are using Mac OS X 10.4.4, you should have iSync 2.1.1 installed. iSync 2 was installed when you updated to Mac OS X 10.4 originally. You should not have installed iSync 1.5 or the iSync Palm Conduit 1.2 - neither one are intended to work in a Tiger environment.
The first step is to absolutely determine what is actually installed - iSync 1.5 or earlier or iSync 2 or later. If it is iSync 1.5 or earlier, you will need to remove it using the iSync Uninstall utility. It's no longer available for download from Apple, so send me an electronic mail message and I'll reply with a copy.
You will then need to reinstall iSync 2 be extracting it - using Pacifist - from your original Mac OS X 10.4 Update or Install DVD. You'll find that application here:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/systemdiskutilities/pacifist.html
There is no way to download iSync 2 or later from Apple. The iSync 2.1 package is an updater, not a full application installer. Do not install any version of the iSync Palm Conduit - the updated version is built into, and only available from, iSync 2 or later. It is installed automatically for you as one of several steps involved in configuring iSync 2 or later to synchronize with a Palm device.
    In summary, you'll need to…
    • verify which release of iSync is installed
    • remove iSync 1.5 or earlier using the iSync Uninstall utility
    • extract and install iSync 2 using Pacifist and your original Mac OS X 10.4 DVD
    • update to iSync 2.1 using either the Software Update mechanism or the downloadable iSync 2.1 package
    • update to iSync 2.1.1 by reapplying the Mac OS X 10.4.3 or 10.4.4* Update
Both the Mac OS X 10.4.3 Combo Update and the 10.4.4 Combo Update are configured to upgrade iSync 2 directly to iSync 2.1.1, so you could reapply whichever is appropriate for your configuration and skip the iSync 2 to 2.1 update step.
If you are unsure of any of these steps, stop and ask what to do. If you don't execute them properly, you will end up having to start the process all over again. [Apple clearly has not made this easy.]

  • ISync will install but will not open.

    Hi folks,
This is my first post and boy is it a doozy.
I am having a multitude of issues, of which, my own numbskulledry is the primary cause.
I am a Treo 680 user, and hence, I use Missing Sync.
All of my contacts are in Address Book within OS X and none of which are on my brand new 680 or in Palm Desktops address book.
My Macbook is also new. Now, before I bought the 680 I had a 650, and I had a rather old iBook. I have two phones, a smaller phone for my pocket when I am working, an older Moto . ON my new Macbook, I got all of my contacts off of the Moto via iSync. Now I have my new Macbook, and my new 680, I must admit, that until now, I never tried to use missing sync on the Macbook.
I have been unable to get Missing Sync and iSync to play nice at all on the Macbook.
Everytime I went to enable Palm Synching in iSync, iSync would tell me that something wasnt installed correctly. Someone suggested I trash Missing Sync and reinstall it and try again. Well that only made matters worse.
this is where things get stupid..
So I decided to Trash everything and start over. I trashed every file I could associate with iSync, Missing Sync and Palm Desktop.
So...long story short, when I went to the Apple site to DL iSync, to my surprise I find that the only version available for download, is 1.5. So, I DL'ed it and it installed, but it will not open. It just bounces in the Dock a few times, and then goes away, I've tried this both as a restricted user and logged in as the Admin; same result.
Any helpful thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks very much for reading.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
As a general rule, you should not attempt to manually remove synchronization components manually. At this point, you are well past that note of caution but, in the future, don't attempt to do so. As you have discovered, that approach does nothing more than aggravate the issues you face.
You must first do this: reinstall the Palm Desktop, using the package bundled on CD-ROM that you received with your smartphone. [It is important that you take these steps in the order I outline. Seriously.]
Next, you should download Pacifist and use that utility to extract and install the iSync 2 package on the original Mac OS X 10.4.x that was supplied with your machine. There is now other way to perform this properly, and you cannot download a copy of iSync 2.x, which is required for use with Mac OS X 10.4 or later. To extract and install iSync, follow these instructions:
If you need to reinstall iSync, you'll need to do it in a two-step process, initially using the Pacifist utility to extract it from your original Mac OS X 10.4.x Install or Upgrade DVD.
    Download Pacifist from here.
To extract and install it, launch Pacifist. Insert your Mac OS X 10.4 Install or Upgrade DVD in your optical drive and wait for it to mount. Press the now-activated Open Mac OS X Install Packages button. Wait for the window to appear—it may take some time to load all of the resources—then double click on the Contents of Essentials.pkg file to open it, double-click on the Applications folder, select iSync.app then press the Install button.
That will install a copy of iSync 2 into your Applications folder. Then run the Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo update for PowerPC or intel processor based machines—whichever is appropriate for your platform—to update it to release 2.4.
Those specific updaters are available at these links:
    • for PowerPC: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1049comboupdateppc.html
    • for intel: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1049comboupdateintel.html
Once you have done that, reconfigure iSync to support your smartphone by adding using the Enable Palm OS Syncing… option. You should also reset the synchronization framework by opening the Preferences… dialog and pressing the Reset Sync History… button. Quit iSync.
Launch the Address Book and use the built-in option under the File menu to back up your contact records. Do the same with iCal, using its built-in option to back up your event and task records.
At this point, if you intend to use iSync, initiate a synchronization event and choose Replace to overwrite the contents of your handheld, unless—by doing so—you would lose information on it that is not in iCal or the Address Book. If that is the case, you must instead choose Merge.
Once you have done that, examine all of the records in iCal and the Address Book and make any additions, deletions or modifications you wish to to your contact, event and task data. Back each set up once again.
Then reinstall the Missing Sync, and use the option to overwrite the contents, this one time, of your handheld with the individual Mark/Space Contact, Events and Tasks conduits. Once that has been completed, make any category or group changes to your records on the Palm, and synchronize as you would normally.
If you are stumped at any point or encounter something you do not understand, STOP and ask about it. And whatever you do, don't delete anything related to your synchronization framework except individual application preferences files, should that be necessary.

  • ISync.app has "Disappeared" ?

Both before and after the 10.4.8 update, I can't find the iSync application in the finder. I still have the circle arrow icon at the top of the screen (when I log on as User as opposed to administrator), and "Sync Now" seems to work with my Palm and .Mac account. And .Mac sync preferences works.
But I can't get to the program window to add devices, change preferences, etc.
The administrator account was never set up for synch-ing, so I can't do any of this as an administrator.
Spotlight shows me the iSync21.pkg, but execution of that file fails with a message that a newer version is installed on my computer.
Maybe someone can point me to a link to download just the newest app file, or tell me how to selectively extract it from the Tiger updater, or any other ideas?
    Thanks a lot!

There is no downloadable package. You will have to start by reinstalling iSync 2, which you cannot do that directly from your Mac OS X 10.4.x Install or Upgrade DVD, because the file is not accessible.
Step one: you will need to extract the iSync installer from that disc using Pacifist:
    http://www.charlessoft.com
Once you have downloaded and installed Pacifist, do this:
Launch Pacifist. Insert your Mac OS X 10.4.2 Install DVD, and wait for it to mount. Then press the Open Mac OS X Install packages button.
Step two: you must now update the just-installed copy of iSync 2.x to the current release: iSync 2.3, and that is done by applying this Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo update for machines—like yours—equipped with an PowerPC processor:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1048comboupdateppc.html
You must use this specific Combo updater, as neither the smaller Delta updater or Software Update will update the newly installed copy of iSync 2.

  • Isync not starting up!

Though I have successfully used i sync with my nokia 6600 before I now have problems with starting up isync. when I do so, a dialogue box opens and informs me that: isync cannot open because of a problem with a plug in. and explains: the following plugin does not work with this version of isync. It then gives me two options: to quit or to click on the plug in with which it seems to have a problem and prompts me to either move it or delete it and then re-launch the program. I have done so but unsuccessfully. Is there something I must do to solve this problem?

Hi I am also having a similar problem.
I double click on the iSync icon it bounces in the dock for ages and nothing happens not even the dark traingle appears in the dock showing it is active.
I then click and hold down on the dock icon and get the menu "Sync devices"
It says Synchronization is not enabled on this computer turn on in the preferences
I go up to menu and there are no preferences
    the manu bar just has
    Isync, - Help.
the sub menu for iSync which should have the prefs just lists
    services
    Hide iSync
    Hide others
show all (in grey so not active)
    quit iSync
I have used pacifist to reinstall iSync from the install DVDs I have tried to install the 10.4.8 combo but it says "You cannot install on this volume it does not meet the requirements for this update"
    I am on 10.4.9
    1.83 ghz intel
    AND FRUSTRATED!!!!
I used to be able to get the isync startup page but now absolutely nothing
It seems there are a lot of people going through similar issues.

  • ISync won't start

I'm reposting the question below in this forum in hopes of getting a solution. In the Tiger: Installation & Setup forum I got one reply (from user Niel) who suggested that I:
"Create a new Finder window and click on the item in the sidebar with the house icon; from here, open the folders Library, Preferences, and then ByHost. In the ByHost folder, locate the item that has a name starting with com.apple.syncservices and move it to the desktop."
Unfortunately, there's no com.apple.syncservices file in the ByHost folder, nor is there anything similar. And a Spotlight search turned up nothing as well.
Any suggestions would br greatly appreciated--thanks in advance for your help.
I tried .Mac for the free trial period, found it not useful for me, and let the trial period expire. In the interim, I turned off syncing in iSync's preferences, so .Mac would not constantly sync in the background. I also in the interim upgraded to 10.4.6, which upgraded iSync to 2.2.
All this was in my everyday user profile, which does not have admin privileges.
Now my iSync won't start properly. The program hangs and I have to do a "force quit". If I right-click on the icon in the dock and select "Sync Devices", I get a dialog box that says that synchronization is not turned on, and I need to turn it on in iSync preferences. But, because the iSync program isn't starting up properly, "Preferences" is not an option in the iSync menus. So I can't turn on the synchronization.
    That's the definition of a "Catch-22"!
Here's what I've done so far to address the problem:
--Tried iSync under another profile with admin rights. It works properly, which tells me that the problem is limited to this user profile.
--Tried giving admin rights to the user profile. No improvement.
--Used Spotlight to delete all iSync items including the program, reinstalled iSync 2.1 from my original OS X DVD using Pacifist, and reapplied the 10.4.6 Combo Updater to update iSync to 2.2. iSync works in the alternate profile, but not the everyday user profile.
--Tried using iSync 2.1 without upgrading to 2.2--it worked fine in the alternate profile but not the user profile.
Any ideas? Is there any way to use a Terminal line command to reset the iSync preferences in the user profile? I'm at a loss as to how to proceed.
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

An Apple tech called me last night to try to rectify my problem. After a further hour of trying various things, my problem is still unresolved.
What I think I need is for someone conversant in Terminal commands to give me the specific command for turning on synchronization in the iSync preferences. Here (I think) is the general syntax for such a command:
    defaults write {name of .plist file} {key} {-class} {value}
For instance, to use Terminal to put a Quit item in the Finder's File menu, you would enter:
defaults write com.apple.Finder QuitMenuItem -bool Yes
Although I'm very happy with Apple's proactive customer service, I'd like to get this fixed. Thanks in advance for any help that's offered.

  • Where do I find a copy of isync for 10.4.11?

During the process of getting my iPhone to sync with MobileMe we (me and my apple support specialist) discovered that iSync isn't working. It took forever to launch and then couldn't drop any of the menu items. Also, in preferences/.Mac, the sync button and advanced button are grayed out. So my calendar and address book on my powerbook are not getting updated from MobileMe.
I followed the discussion on the post "iSync won't lunch (sic)" and somehow ended up deleting my iSync program. After extensive searching I can't find a copy of just the iSync program for 10.4.11. It appears to be only available in system updates.
Can anyone lead me to a site where I can download a fresh copy of only iSync 2.4 or up? I know iSync 3.0 only works with 10.5 - or so said one download site.

iSync isn't available for download. If haven't kept system backups from which you can restore iSync, you'll have to reinstall iSync from your original Mac OS X 10.4.x Installation DVD using Pacifist, and then download and install the Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Updater to get iSync back up to the latest version.

  • Help!  iSync won't load properly!

I need some help with iSync. I've had this problem twice since my initial attempt at setting up Syncing through my Palm Treo650 and MissingSync / Palm Hotsync.
    Part I:
After my first install of Palm Hotsync, I was told by the installer to turn on Syncing in the iSync preferences. Immediately I go to open the program to set the required preference and iSync just bounces in the dock for a minute or two, followed by nothing at all. It won't crash, it won't reload, etc. My remedy to this (the first time) was to do an archive and install of 10.4.. I do so, which was fine (and well needed anyway).
    Part II:
With the fresh install, I first call Cingular for assistance, making sure i'm doing what THEY would expect someone with Mac OS to do for an install. Accompanying this call, they forward me directly to Palm, in which someone there helps me fully install the Palm software (while avoiding several errors and mishaps). Finally the hotsync works and everything is jolly. Now, second to this, I go an install MissingSync (the reason why I bought this $300 Treo was so that I could sync all of my contacts, etc. and MissingSync is the tool I was really looking to use). MissingSync installs, but then tells me AGAIN that I need to enable syncing through iSync and that the iCal and Address book and any other conduit which may sync through iSync is not working properly. So, yet again, I turn to iSync - it bounces in the dock for a minute or two, then nothing! But this time, it reads in the finder bar that iSync is open, however I cannot click on anything in the menu to gain working order. Oddly, if I click and hold on the iSync icon in the dock and then drag up and click to Sync, it opens a bar which reads "Syncing is not enabled, please enable in the prefs, etc..".. Which is my original goal - just being thrown in my face AGAIN.. Now, I gain access after that point to the menu bars in iSync, but the preference pane is not listed!!! SOMEONE HELP!!!
    Part II: (sub)
I called apple for assistance only to find that my 3 year apple care has expired and that you can't purchase a new one - only $50 per problem! NEVER have I ever been so ****** at apple! I love my powerbook and everything that apple makes, but that is AWFUL!

I guess that you either did not thoroughly read, or did not understand, the documentation which accompanies the Missing Sync for Palm OS. It clearly states that you must perform one final (which may also be your first) synchronization with iSync before installing, configuring and using the Missing Sync for Palm OS.
And, you were unfortunately misled by Palm representatives who insisted apparently that you install the latest available version of the Palm Desktop after installing—and without subsequently reinstalling—iSync.
    At this point, you should…
    • stop any attempt at performing any sort of synchronization
    • remove the Missing Sync for Palm OS using the Uninstaller provided by Mark/Space
    • reinstall, update or upgrade the Palm Desktop using this package, and be sure to read the instructions at the link before doing so:
    http://www.palm.com/us/support/macintosh/macdesk421revd.html
    • extract and install iSync 2 using Pacifist
    • apply the latest Mac OS X 10.4.x Combo update which matches your machine to update iSync to the latest version for that OS release. For Mac OS X 10.4.7 and a PowerBook, that is this package:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxupdate1047comboppc.html
You are still not ready to synchronize. You must now…
    • back up your contacts using the Back up Address Book option in the Address Book application
    • do the same for calendars using the Back up Database option in iCal
    • perform a last synchronization with the Palm Desktop (which may also be your first) if you want an archive of the data on your handheld. Do so by setting the applicable Palm conduits to Handheld overwrites Macintosh
    • open iSync and select the Enable Palm OS Syncing… option under the Devices menu
    • set the appropriate values in the iSync Preferences… dialog
    • perform an initial synchronization using iSync, preferably one in which you choose to overwrite the contents of your handheld, not merge data with it
    • perform a subsequent synchronization with iSync if the first is successful
    Now, you need to…
    • install the Missing Sync for Palm OS, understanding that you will no longer be able to use iSync to synchronize your Palm device, as this process removes both the HotSync Manager and Transport Monitor
    • set your Mark/Space Contacts, Events and Tasks conduits to overwrite your Treo just once
    • synchronize
From this point on, you will be able to synchronize your Treo successfully with the Address Book and iCal using the Missing Sync for Palm OS.

  • My iSync program simply doesn't open.

My iSync program simply doesn't open. I tried updating, re-installing... It doesn't open. I have the feeling it is some kind of conflict with some other application. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Yisel

All of you need to slow down and take a deep breath.
Don't conflate iSync with .Mac Sync: they are not the same thing, and—except to the extent that iSync lets Mac OS X 10.4 and later users interact with the 'invisible' truth database that is the focal point of the synchronization framework—they have nothing to do with each other.
To understand what is going on in the background, you should read this document.
There is NO downloadable update for iSync 2.x: you can only update it by installing or reinstalling a specific package or combo installer, using either the Software Update mechanism or by downloading and applying the appropriate combo update package which matches your specific OS and processor type. Do not download and apply the iSync 1.5 update, as this can only cause additional issues.
If your iSync application will not launch, it is an indication that either your synchronization framework or the application itself is damaged or incomplete. Either case requires that you reinstall iSync 2 or later—using Pacifist—then update using the appropriate combo update package. An original Mac OS X 10.4 DVD will install iSync 2 and a Mac OS X 10.4.7 DVD will install iSync 2.3, both of which must then be updated to iSync 2.4 if you are using Mac OS X 10.4.8 through 10.4.10.
If you need to reinstall iSync, you'll need to do it in a two-step process, initially using the Pacifist utility to extract it from your original Mac OS X 10.4.x Install or Upgrade DVD.
    Pacifist is available here:
    http://www.charlessoft.com
To extract and install it, do this:
Launch Pacifist. Insert your Mac OS X 10.4 Install or Upgrade DVD in your optical drive and wait for it to mount. Press the now-activated Open Mac OS X Install Packages button in Pacifist. Wait for the window to appear - it will take some time to load all of the resources - then double click on the Contents of Essentials.pkg file to open it, double-click on the Applications folder, select iSync.app then press the Install button.
That will install a copy of iSync 2 into your Applications folder. Then run the Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo update for PowerPC or intel processor based machines—whichever is appropriate for your platform—to update it to release 2.4.
Those specific updaters are available at these links:
    • for PowerPC: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10410comboupdat eppc.html
    • for intel: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10410comboupdat eintel.html
For those who want to update to a release earlier than Mac OS X 10.4.10, search the Downloads area at Apple Support for those combo packages. Remember that you must use a combo updater, as the smaller delta update packages and the Software Update mechanism will not complete this process successfully.
In addition, iSync must remain in its default location in your Applications folder to be updated properly, and—in fact—to work properly, under some circumstances. Do not move it out of the Applications folder or into a sub-folder within it.

  • "Isync cannot connect to this device" Yet phone has connected to other Imac

I have a Nokia 6230i and for ages I have been trying to get my Macbook to connect via iSync, I thought the phone was at fault, I had taken them both to a genius bar and was told the phone was at fault but last week I connected the phone to an iMac via iSync and it worked a treat. Unfortunately the imac is not my workhorse and the contacts I need to use are on the macbook.
I have reinstalled iSync by extracting it from the dvd but this also did not work. I keep getting "isync cannot connect to this device" every time
Why cant it be a bit more specific? Why not an error code or something that will let you track down the problem
Has anyone else had the same problem with iSync?

    Hi,
I had the same problem with a 6230i from a friend. After setting date and time on the mobile iSync had no problems anymore.
