Reinstall not working

I have Tungsten e2 and gave it to my son. As I tried to install the software installation cd on his computer, it keeps holding up about 85% through the installaion process and will not complete ( have tried 5 times and it stops at the same exact spot). However, if I remove the cd, the Palm desktop and quick install icons show up on my desktop.A bigger issue is I cant find Docs to go anywhere on the computer, or in the Palm desktop and if I recall from my install and what I read here, it should be installing from the cd. While I can open Palm desktop, there is nothing there about documents so I'm pretty sure not everthing was installed. Anyone have any suggestions?  I have had no other issues with the computer and its XP home with plenty of ram and hard drive avalable.
thanks

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forums.
Not sure what's happening with the software installation issue, but you might try doing a "clean unininstall" and try it again.  Instructions for a clean uninstall are found in this thread.
As for Documents To Go, this desktop application does not install automatically with the rest of the Palm Desktop software.  You have to do it separately...typically when you install the disc it will present you with a menu to install additional software.  If it doesn't, you can find the desktop application on the disc by using Windows Explorer and browsing the folders on the disc.  The application file will look something like dxtg.exe but since I don't have an E2 (or an E2 disc) I can't tell you its exact location.

  • PSE 6 Reinstall not working

I'm a new user of PSE 6 and was recently experiencing problems with it opening. I would click on the icon and nothing would happen. I just discovered that I should have come here as there is a patch that I should have installed to fix the problem. It appears I have now made the problem worse by uninstalling it and trying to reinstall.
I can't seem to get the reinstall to work and have done it several times. It runs thru all of the steps OK but when it gets to the registry section and the little green bar starts along the left hand side of the screen, like it's doing its thing, it then imediately jumps to the screen saying the install is finished. To me, it looks like it skips it before it's done. It never asks me for my registry info and I'm assuming that I should have to enter that in, just like I did when I originally installed the software.
Once it tells me it's done and I close the window, there are no icons placed on my PC for PSE and when I go to the programs folder of my C drive, there are no application icons there either. There are some folders with PSE info, but nothing to run the software. Any idea what is going on?
    Many thanks,
    Tracy

    Hi Tracey,
There is an Adobe Tech doc not sure whether it will fix this problem, but is related with reinstalling PSE on the windows machine.
Check the point 9 "Reinstall Photoshop Elements in a simplified mode." mentioned in the http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402603 link and see if that helps.

  • ID Deactivated by Adobe; Reinstall Not Working

Right now my frustration level is very, very high.
My copy of InDesign (CS6 version) was deactivated by Adobe on Monday. I contacted online tech support and they told me to reinstall, so I reinstalled.
The control panel, tool bar and all panels are still not working, meaning they are not even selectable. I called Adobe, got a case number and was transfered to another number. After 20 minutes I was disconnected. I called back and was told the wait was between 5 and 10 minutes. Thirty minutes later, I was disconnected AGAIN. Nice. Almost a week dealing with this problem, no closer to problem solved.
At the college where I work, the username and password associated with the software was changed by IT (without any notification, of course) and when I went to activate the software again, I put in the old username and password. I brought the laptop to the college, reinstalled ID and had IT put in the new username and password, but the software is still won't let me access the Control panel, toolbar, or panels.
All I know is InDesign was working just fine, then Adobe deactivated it, and now it isn't working. IS THERE SOMEBODY OUT THERE WHO KNOWS WHAT IS GOING ON?

Dear Peter, thank you for your reply.
I am getting ready to leave the college and am heading home where I will try out your forwarded information.
I really hope it works! - really hope it does, though we had other people using Illustrator and Photoshop that had similar problems to what I am experiencing. For whatever reason(s), their issues were easier to fix than mine, seemingly solved when the new Adobe user ID and password were updated to the serial number.
I will let you know (and become your devoted admirer if it works).

  • I can't open iPhoto after yosemite upgrade - tried to reinstall, not working! Help!

    Hi
Im new here so please bare with me if I've not included everything needed but I'm really struggling an after trying everything else on every other link I've found Im stuck!
I installed Yosemite a few weeks back. I have tried everything I have read on forums etc... to try to get iPhoto to work but nothing is helping. What am I missing out?
I upgraded iphoto in the ap store. I have tried uninstalling iPhoto as per advice from a other thread and when I re download it it still just has a grey screen with the circle going round an doesn't do anything. All I can do is force quit it.
I have my photos backed up. Im not concerned about getting them or them being wiped from my machine. My theory was to uninstall it and reinstall it fresh as new and just start again. My photo library was huge (talking well over 100,000 photos) so thought it might take a while but left it overnight an still nothing. iMovie and other programs working fine after the update. I just now have nowhere to do quick edits and view my pictures.
    iMac (27-inch, Late 2009),2.66 GHz Intel Core i5,4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
How can I just start again an have a nice fresh iPhoto for me to upload my photos from my backup drive?

    Hi, Léonie,
My iphoto is having the almost the same problem except that these are old iphoto files from 2010-2013... And I backed them up in external drive.
So, after upgrading and letting it repairing, iphoto asked me to quit the application. I'm sure it could be open with older version of iphoto...
Below is what I see step by step.  Please help, I've got quite a few years memories there...
    THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

  • 11.1.14 install   reinstall not working

Tried to do the 11.1.14 update last night for my Windows 7 laptop. It failed to install. I shut down for the night.
This morning I got an 'MSCVR80.DLL missing' notice even before my desktop was fully operational. Got it later when I tried to open iTunes several times.
Uninstalled iTunes and have tried installing the 11.1.14 version of iTunes twice now and I get 'Service 'Apple Mobile Device' Failed To Start'. Tried retry and ignore but just get that same message again.
Anyone have a solution for this yet? Can't exactly wait for the next, corrected, version to come out. Disconnected from my music (200 albums or so) and my tv episodes.

    I tried this:
    http://server/HRPortal/faces/pages_home
and Rebuild Model.jpr and ViewController.jpr. Also followed the instruction here : http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/shermanrelnotes-405777.html#wls
to make sure Fast Swap is set.
But still, after I rebuild Model.jpr or ViewController.jpr, then refresh the page like this path: http://server/HRPortal/faces/pages_home,
    Got error:

Then I have to deploy and run the page again. I am hoping to see "Hot deployment" feature work to save some development time.

  • Deleted app, reinstall not working

I deleted an app ICON on my itouch, but i am not able to reinstall the app. It shows installed in the app store but no ICON to access the problem, I have tried to uninstall in itunes and re-sync no luck. any suggestions? thanks

    - Try a reset. Nothing is lost:
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Have you used the Spotlight search on the iPOd? Maybe y really did not delete the app?
    - Last would be to restore the iPod.

  • Archive and Reinstall Not Working

After downloading the lastest update for iTunes I now can`t open that application without it freezing up my machine. All other applications are fine. I took it to the store. Their only recommendation was to archive and reinstall. When i put in the disk to do that though it simply puts an install icon on my desktop. i was under the impression that a variety of options would pop up including the archive function but clicking on that icon achieves nothing. Help!

    Hi Shanksmare,
first of all: WELCOME TO THE DISCUSSIONS!
I tried restarting/holding down C but clicking on the icon does nothing but bring up a restart option.
This is correct and exactly what you want to do. In order to install you have to boot from the install DVD. The Archive&Install feature is one of the options you have within the installer application that starts automatically when you boot from the install DVD.
I suggest you do the following:
    1. Insert the Install CD 1 and reboot while holding down the c-key
    2. Once you are booted go to the menu and select disk utility
    3. Repair the disk and Repair permissions!
    4. Quit disk utility and proceed with the installation
    5. Under "options" select "Archive&Install" and check the box "keep user and network data".
    6. Install Panther
    7. Restart
    8. Go to the folder Application/Utilities and run disk utility to repair permissions again.
    9. Download (or open if you downloaded before) and install the latest Combo update: Mac OS X Update 10.3.9 (Combo).
    10. Restart and repair permisssions
    11. Go to the Apple menu and select "Software Update"
    12. Install all missing updates and restart.
    13. Repair permissions
    Good luck!

  • OS X Reinstall not working after Restore!

I need help. I bought the Macbook Pro several years ago and I have recently restored due to errors and lags, as well as frequent freezes. After I erased my data, I went to reinstall Mac OS X, but when I logged into my App Store account it said I hadn't purchased Mountain Lion. Now I can't reboot it and I cannot buy the Mountain Lion OS X, since it isn't available on the App Store anymore.
Anyone know the solution to this problem?

  • I've just updated my iPhone to the new iPhone OS and now it won't work and iTunes won't recognise that it's there.  I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled twice and it's not working.  Please help.

I've just updated my iPhone to the new iPhone OS and now it won't work and iTunes won't recognise that it's there.  I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled twice and it's not working.  Please help.

I have not had wifi since November when I upgraded to the newest IOS version.  I called the Apple help line and they told me some things to do and I tried them all and they worked for a few hours and then wifi shut off again.  I kept doing what they told me and it worked for a couple more days and then I could never turn it on again.  My blue tooth doesn't work either.  I had to actually increase my data usage with AT&T becuase of this.  When I did that in December I went to the Apple store and was told that it is a hardware issue and since my phone is out of warranty I would have to pay for a new phone because they could not fix the issue.  My upgrade isn't up until June 2014 so not only do I have to wait for the upgrade and I am not paying for a new phone but I have to pay $10 plus extra a month on my cell phone bill because I was going over on my Data!!!  I have been beyond upset about this and Apple is not doing anything about this nor did they offer up some way to resolve the issue because obviously it is not just some rare incident if several people are having this issue.  Who knows how many people out there have had this issue and have not said anything about it.  Now there is a newer update that I can't do because it requires wifi in order to download.
June can not get here fast enough and I may not go back to Iphone after dealing with this for so long with no help from Apple.

  • Windows error: iTunes crashes (uninstall and reinstall does not work)

    Hello all.
I (and another user) have had a problem with iTunes crashing when trying to open it. Windows just generates the typical vague error message that explains nothing as to what the problem is. Uninstalling and reinstalling did not work, and using the "Repair" option did not work either.
This was the solution. Hope it works for you. Cheers.
    C ;o)
Here are the steps, some might be redundant, but still follow them to try and get iTunes to work.
    1. *Extremely important* Close the QuickTime launcher in the tray on the right side of your Windows TaskBar (right-click on the blue QuickTime "Q" logo next to where you have the time and date and select "exit".) The QuickTime logo should disappear from the tray.
    2. Go to where your iTunes library folder is, copy it and put it elsewhere on yoour hard-drive. This is where you asked your iTunes to point to and keeps the full repository of the files sync'ed to your iPod. If you don't do this, you will have to re-create the full library of all the music and files you have put into iTunes.
    3. Unistall iTunes and reboot your PC.
    4. Go to c:\Program Files\Quicktime and delete this whole folder.
    5. Go to c:\Windows\System 32 and: delete the Quicktime FOLDER there; then (ii) scroll down and delete all other QuickTime related files (there should be 5-10 of them, I didn't count, some will have a name like QuickTMvr whatever).
    6. Empty Recycle Bin.
    7. Reboot your PC.
    8. Go back to Apple Website and download: iTunes, and (ii) QuickTime installation only (without iTunes).
    9. Install QuickTime FIRST (use newly downloaded version)! Check it works OK by opening it.
    10. Close QuickTime lanucher from tray, as explained above in step 1.
    11. Install iTunes (use the newly downloaded version).
    12. Open iTunes. If it opens fine (clap your hands and say "hurray", and actually I said out loud to my PC, "Please work" and it did - I don't know if this step helped at all. ;o) ), then close iTunes FIRST BEFORE DOING THE NEXT STEP. Go to where the new iTunes (and library) folder is, rename the new iTunes folder (as you might notice when/if you open iTunes, that it is all blank), and copy the old iTunes folder (from step 2) to the same location. Re-open iTunes. It should be the way it opened the last time.

    Btw.
Don't forget that, from my experience, most iTunes errors comes from malfunctioning instances of QuickTime.

  • Flash Player will not work even upon reinstalling it

    Hello!
I am having quite the time trying to get Adobe Flash Player
to work! Seemingly "out of nowhere", none of the youtube videos of
my nephew were visible on the site any longer, when they had
previously been working just fine. When I went to the page, using
IE7, there was a blank spot where the video should be. However, at
that time, I *was* able to view the video using FireFox. I thought
this was unusual that it would work in Firefox but no longer be
    working in IE7.
I checked to see if javascript was turned on in both browsers
    -- it was. I have javascript enabled in Firefox2 (tools/ options/
content/ enable javascript; under advanced settings "disable or
replace context menus" is checked, although I don't know if this
    applies), and in IE7 (tools/ options/ security/ custom Level/
    scripting/ active scripting/ enable).
Since this didn't seem to be the problem, the only thing I
could think of doing was to uninstall Flash Player. In my Add or
Remove Programs, I saw Adobe Flash Player ActiveX and Adobe Flash
Player Plug-In. I went to Adobe's site, and found a document
entitled "How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and
ActiveX control", which said you need to use an Adobe program for
the uninstall, which I did. I then rebooted the computer. Next I
installed the latest version of Adobe Flash Player ActiveX.
When I viewed the youtube videos, they now showed just fine
    in both IE7 and Firefox.
I closed down the computer and went to bed happy it was
    fixed.
The next morning, upon startup, I was dismayed to find that
the problem had started all over again, although now the video was
no longer viewable in *either* IE7 or Firefox.
In Firefox, I see the message "Hello, you either have
JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player.
Get the latest Flash player." In IE7, I see no message; just a
    blank spot.
Again I double-checked that javascript was turned on in both.
I double-checked my Add or Remove Programs, and I can see the
Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX was installed. (And I knew it to be
working before I shut the computer down.)
I feel like I am going bananas.
Does anyone know what could be going on? Might you have any
insight as to why it would first stop working in one browser, work
in both browsers upon reinstalling it but before turning off the
computer, and then not work in either browser upon starting up the
    computer again?
Thank you so much! I just appreciate your help more than I
    can say!
    Happy day to you!
    Karen

Thanks.  This worked for me, too.
And this is what I used to do the uninstall, so I could re-install from the webpage:
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe
I placed this .exe file in this install directory . . .
    {C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash}
. . . along with a ReadMe file that contained this notation:
    <uninstall_flash_player.exe> was obtained manually from:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/
...and not installed in this directory as part of the Flashplayer install.
This was obtained as part of an attempt to correct Flashplayer suddenly not working in MSIE.
Correcting this problem involved unistalling and re-installing Flash, but uninstalling via the normal Pgm.Accs+Dflts facility did not seem to work correctly; i.e., the subsequent re-intall failed to correct the problem: even though the download webpage indicated a successful install, the Flash animation did not appear. However, using the above .exe file does allow a truly successful subsequent re-install.

    Hello, Jdragone.
Thanks for the question.  Start with completely uninstalling iTunes and all of it's components in the order specified in the article below.  Once this is done, download and install iTunes.

  • How do I clean install?  I have tried the reinstall osx but still the other apps I have downloaded are still there.  And also the Safari is not working anymore... I have to install Opera to have a working browser since I reinstalled the OS... please help.

Hi Please help me to understand how the clean install works...
I have purchased this ultrabook hoping I can slowly learn how to work it... I am a windows user and would like to shift to linux based machines...
My first problem is that I need to run IE explorer and media player to play wmv files on a cbt nugget iso image... It's impossible to do it since Mac does not support WMV file format... so I need to install WINE to emulate windows OS inside OS X and run windows programs... I can't install it either by following this site...
    http://www.davidbaumgold.com/tutorials/wine-mac/
I can't seem to run wine after the last step, it has given me error messages.
Now I tried to uninstall it, not working either,
My last resort is to restore to factory default settings > power restart, press alt key as soon as you hear mac sound... choose HD on the right side, enter WIFI key and wait for 4 hours reinstalling os x Lion
I found out all the apps are still there.... is there something I missed????

What you're doing is reinstalling OS X over top of your present installation. If you want to reinstall "fresh", do this:
Reboot while holding down Command + Option + R, first use Disk Utility to erase your volume, then reinstall OS X.
Best done if you FIRST connect to the Internet using Ethernet...much faster than WiFi.
