Reinstall of HP 3512 DeskJet

Well i have to redownload my printer HP DeskJet 3512. I have done it once before, but something is really wrong with the drivers or something. Last time it went flawlessly not one problem. Now on the same computer i can't get the printer to be recognized by usb or wireless. Nothing takes it just keeps taking round and round and round in a big circle. So i need to download certain files, i do that. It says you should have your firewall, off well its off. What is going on, tried to install with the CD with the product. Nothing. Can someone tell me what happened. Seems like something got changed, becuase even the download drivers site isn't the same as when i bought the product, now they have some kind of install doctor. What am i missing, because i have done everything

@taylor1277, Welcome to the forums!
I hope to help you out with the issues you're having with your Deskjet 3512. It seems that the installation is not completing successfully so I would like to go back to hardware troubleshooting and start from there.
Could you try making a black and white copy and then a color copy from the front of the printer? If there is any issues with the copies, try a power reset and make sure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors, and try the copies again.
Reset Instructions:
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
Let me know what happens with the copies and we will go from there.

  • Lost my HP deskjet 3512 printer function when upgrading to Windows 8.1 - can't get it back!

I lost my wireless connection from my Hp A6 Vision lapptop to my HP 3512 deskjet printer when I upgraded to Windows 8.1.  I'm told it is installed but it is not responding.  I'v tried following instructions and even using the Hp wizard to get it up and running.  Is it even compatible with 8.1?  What do I need to do?

    Hi @periwinklejoy,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you lost your wireless connection to your HP Deskjet 3512 after upgrading to Windows 8.1. I am happy to help!
The printer is definitely compatible with Windows 8.1. As there are drivers available at this website, HP Deskjet 3510 e-All-in-One Printer Full Feature Software and Drivers.
    I would recommend the following:
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software. (In case there are old drivers still installed, if not then carry on to the next step).
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Re-install using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Then follow this guide, Installing the Printer Software for a Wireless Network Connection.
Hope this helps you, and thank you for posting!

  • Deskjet 3512 connected to wireless network but utility says 'Unable to find printer'

    1. Product Name and Number
         • HP Deskjet 3512
     2. Operating System installed (if applicable)
         • Windows 7 64-bit
     3. Error message (if any)
         Unable to find printer.
        Facts:
    - Printer is connected to network. Panel LED is unblinking blue and the status indicates the correct SSID for my network. Also the router config page indicates that the printer is connected with a correct IP (192.168.1.XX).
    - Wireless Network Test Results diagnostics of the printer states that all PASSED, except that the Internet says 'Not connected'.
    - Tried to ping the IP that the printer panel says, but cmd says: Destination Host Unreachable. Tried arp -a after that but it does not show the IP & MAC address of the printer.
    - Turned off: Windows firewall, router firewall (Telus Actiontec V1000H) and disabled MAC Address Control and uninstalled Avast AV and reboot.
    - Cannot access printer Embedded Web Server.
    - Tried the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it didnt find the printer. And when it did find it, it was by using the USB cable. After selecting the fixes, it came to 'Unable to Find Printer again'.
     4. Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred
         • No changes. Bought the printer and I'm having this issue.
    PLEASE HELP!

To start out sounds like this is a driver issue. I want to start with being sure that the removal of the software and reinstallation happened in the best possible fashion. I want you to follow my steps so I can be sure that we are both starting on the same page.
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it (this is important). Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
find and install the FULL FEATURE SOFTWARE if it is available :
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=5241114
Install that and let me know the result!
    Have a great day!

    Hi Alf2014,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.
Based on what I understand, it seems like you are encountering challenges while setting the printer up.
First off lets make sure that we have completely uninstalled the Printer Software by following the instructions found in this link.
Once done, proceed to this page and pick the link that best describes your setup (since your Operating System was not provided).
If the above mentioned steps does not work, please post the exact error message together with your computer's Operating system.

How can I reinstall my Deskjet F4180 if I do not have the install disk

Jerry, welcome to the forum. Since you didn't mention which OS you are using, I provided the Software and drivers page for Win 8.1.  It provides the HP Deskjet F2100/F4100 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver.  This will install the printer.  If the OS is not correct, you can provide the correct one. Please click the "Thumbs up + button" if I have helped you and click "Accept as Solution" if your problem is solved.

  • HP Deskjet 3510 Series (3512) only printing in black and yellow.

    Hello.
My HP Deskjet 3510 recently ran out of ink (or so I thought.)  I purchased new 61xl color and black cartridges and replaced them.  However, the printer is only printing in black or yellow.  I am unable to get any red, blue, or grayscale.
I have cleaned the printer heads several times, and alligned the printer several times but this has not helped the problem.
I am looking for any suggestions on what I can do to get my printer working once again.
    Thank you.
    Sara C.

Hello @sarajo0531 , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're running into print output issues.  I would like to help!
I'd start by removing the ink cartridges, and performing a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would then suggest following the steps laid out in this document:

  • HP Deskjet 3512 - Can't enable ePrint

    Hi,
We just bought the printer over the weekend. Set it up yesterday. We have no problems printing through USB or wireless. The ePrint can't be enabled by the Setup Assistant or on the printer itself.
Message kept popping out saying that proxy address is needed to connect but we do not use or have any proxy to connect to the internet.
    Device OS: Mac 10.8.3
    Printer software: Deskjet 3510 series v12.2.23 (12.23)
We appreciate any help. Thank you in advance.

Let's set a static IP address and external DNS for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
    - Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS. This is Google DNS. You can choose another external DNS if you wish.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

but now as i click on the icon, it gives only printer options, if i right click on it, i get an option to scan

Hello @garydavis61 , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand you're having issues scanning from the software. I would love to help!
I would recommend performing a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
