Reinstall of Server 2.2.1

So we needed to reinstall Server 2.2.1 onto Mountain Lion after a Time Machine reinstall of ML. When I click on the server app, it asks me to setup the server.
Does anyone know whether it will grab the files that were on the drive originally? I would assume those were reinstalled with the TM backup, but I don't know.
I really don't want to have to go through the process of creating all the links once again.

Are you using also new hardware or is it the same box like before? If you are using new hardware backup from TM is not recovering your old server data, Try "migration Assistant from time machine backup" (MA) during first boot of a fresh installation.

"It turns out that you can only restore a Time Machine backup on the same machine that made the backup. It will not restore a backup to a new physical machine even if the hardware is of the same kind. You have to use the Migration assistant. The root of the problem is that the latter doesn't migrate server data. I have escalated it to Apple, but don't expect it to be addressed soon"
But also if you have same hardware you can try a restore with:
- Clean fresh install of OSX
- restore settings from TM during first boot with MA
If you try this, you should experience that all icons should be checked and greyed out in the time machine recover screen.

Cannot Reinstall Site Server - SCCM 2012 R2

We just upgraded to SCCM 2012 R2. Everything went fine until the one secondary site server failed to upgrade. After fiddling for awhile we just wiped the site out, reinstalled the server and rebuilt the site (same Server Name and Site Code).
However, the fresh server is serving up the same errors as the old install attempt. It would seem that there is something leftover preventing the install. It is for sure not working because it cannot detect the .NET 3.5 and 4 we have installed
on the server and instead returns an error on the prerequisite checks. I tried using preinst.exe to delete the site and I took a look at the hman.box for the deletion list but there was nothing there.
Has anyone had this trouble before?

If I'm reading your comments correctly, I'm not sure what you were expecting preinst.exe to do for you. If a site fails to install due to not being able to pass the prereq checker, preinst has nothing to do with that.
It sounds like the appropriate features are not enabled in Server Manager for the .NET 3.5 and 4.0. Have you checked the documentation library for the requirements for a server to become a secondary site? They should all be listed. Until you get all those
additional features installed, then yes, you'll not be able to pass the prereq checker, and won't be able to install the computer as a site server.

You can reinstall and keep your applications assuming that you are installing to the same location. Follow the following steps:1) Rename bin directory (under /hyperion/essbase) to binold2) Check that there is an Essbase.sec for in this directory3) Run installation. If you mean restore as in reloading an existing config from a disk image. If you have a bootable diskimage on an external drive of your xserve, and if you have another Mac you may be able to boot the xserve in targeted disk mode and just use disk utility on the second Mac to restore the image from the external drive to the internal drive of the xserve. Restore without erase works the best for this...sometimes you will get a copy error on the last file...not sure what the error really means...but it does not seem to be a real issue.

HT4886 When I try to reinstall the Server App it just shows installed and the date it was purchased. How can I reinstall it?

I bought a Mac Mini Server and after set up I realized that it was not set up as a mirrored raid system. So I followed the instructions on how to do that - this erased my drives. Restarted and reinstalled the Mountain Lion software but when I go to the app store it shows the server sotware in my purchases but there is no option for reinstall - it just shows INSTALLED and the date it was purchased.

Seems to have become available once again while downloading the update for Mountain Lion. I guess youjust have to wait a while for it to check your system and then make it available once more.

Install new Windows Server 2012.
Note: Make sure it's not Windows 2012 R2. R2 is not supported for Exchange 2013.
Promote the server as DC, replicate the AD/DNS to new domain controller
Once the replication is done, install exchange server on the server.
Move all the mailboxes to new server, replicate the Public Folder to new server.
Test exchange with new server and make sure users are able to connect using outlook, Outlook Anywhere, OWA, ActiveSync, Mail flow is working internally and externally.
Once you confirmed it, shutdown the old server, and test the same again to make sure if you remove the old server it's not going to cause any issue to new server and new server will work find without the Old Server.
Again, try if you can get DC on different server and exchange on the member server.

Reinstall CSA Server 'Database schema has the wrong version' ?

Today we experainced some issues (Corrupt files) on our server that was hosting the CSA Server, I have had to reinstall the server and reinstall the CSA Server
The problem is that I have restored the .bak files from the backup and all went well, Until I restarted the server and the MC service failed to start.. I looked in the csa logs and got the following error
Management Center for Cisco Security Agent V5.1.0.91 starting...
Database schema has the wrong version - exiting
Service CSAMC51 exited (0).
How can I resolve this issue

What was the previous version of the CSA-MC.
I would recommend installing CSA-MC 5.2. I don't think you can go back, but you can go forward.

Unable to reinstall SQL server 2005

Previously, I have installed SQL 2005 developer edition simplyfied chinese
successfully. But yesterday, I tried to install mobile client software
factory. The installation process create a database as following:
Create DATABASE [AdventureWorksMobileStaging] ON PRIMARY

But today, when I start my notebook, SQL server could not be started.
Then I uninstalled the SQL instance by start->control panel->uninstall...The uninstall
process seems OK. Note that I only uninstalled the instance.Then I tried to reinstall
SQL 2005. However it was reported a Performance Monitor Counter registry key mismatch
error occures. I tried to fix it but failed. The problem is as following:
1, The installation process report a warning of low memory.
My notebook has 512M memory. I have reinstalled SQL 2005 once successfully. At that
time, the warning also shows, but it seems that this warning does not affect installation.
2, User type problem.
The OS of my notebook is XP professional, which is upgraded from XP home edition.
I login it using a domain user such as: "my company's domain\myaccount". I found it
curiously that although I assign myaccount as an Administrator, it will automaticly
changed to "SQL$...." account. I don't know why and when the account property is
changed. But everytime, when I found, I will assign myaccount as an Administrator
back.
3, Performance Monitor Counter registry key problem.
To fix the problem, I firstly tried to run lodctr.exe in cmd window but failed.
When I cd to c:\windows\system32 dir, I can ran lodctr.exe correctly.
I check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib,
the result is:
"Last Counter"=dword:0000149c (11128)
"Last Help"=dword:0000149d (11129)
Then I check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib\009
and 004, the result is confusing. I can find counter and help key,but both keys contains
really a lot of stuff as:

I could not find the maximum value of the Counter key and help key, so I could not repair
Last Counter and Last Help key as discribed at SQL 2005 help. Which item correspond to
maximum value of the Counter key and help key?
I tried to correct Last Counter and Help key as:
"Last Counter"=dword:0000149c (5276)
"Last Help"=dword:0000149d (5277)
But it also doesn't work.

Reinstall Zen Server - what do I need to remove?

In trying to add more space to /opt, it became corrupt and all the data was written to the lost+found. There is about 5 GB of data in there and I'm not sure how to restore it and it would probably take forever. I'm hoping I can just reinstall Zen. The server is 64 Bit SLES 10.4 and we are on ZCM 10.3.3. I'm downloading the 10.3 media and I'm hoping I can successfully re-install. Is there anything else I need to manually remove? Do I need to do anything with the server object in Zenworks Control Center? This is not the primary server - its the 2nd primary. Darn reporting server install!!!
Anyone have any suggestions?

The SQL DB is backed up so hopefully no worries there. Everything in ZCM seems intact and workstations are still contacting the Primary. This server is the 2nd primary.

Problem reinstalling App Server 8.1 2005Q1

I installed App Server 8.1 and run it successfully. Later I had to uninstall it, but then, when I want to reinstall the App Server it fails. When I set the installation folder and press next, nothing happens.

Can't reinstall VersionCue Server

Hey guys,
just a little question here.
A few weeks ago I forgot my version cue login-data ;-)
I removed version-cue with appdelete, cause it didn't know, that it is that complicated to remove it the clean way. After removing it with appdelete, the installation was damaged, so I uninstalled the whole cs3 with the CleanCS3-script.
Now I want to reinstall the whole cs3. That works good, exept that the cs3 installation wont install the versioncue-server :(
It seems that there are still versioncue information on my system, which brings the installer not to install a new versionue server.
What can i do now?

i have a mac mini running lion server. I want to erase all the date and start fresh. When i try to reinstall Lion it does not show anything about lion server but jut Lion. I want to make sure I do it properly. It is also asking me in which hard drive to install Lion but im unsure.

Check in the app store under purchases both lion and server should show up there to download again.
No need to erase both drives for a clean install just the drive you are using for the OSX. Though if you are truly starting a fresh then erase and reformat both.
As for Upgrades. Yosemite is the only upgrade now available through the app store as is Server 4.0 for Yosemite. I have not tested the latest server yet and can not comment on it's reliability.
Any server you set up should be thoroughly tested on a closed network before going live.

Reinstalling lion server but keeping users/groups including their home folder, mail, etc

I need to reinstall my lion server due to some changes in the DNS. I have a time machine backup of the server.
Is there an easy way to transfer/migrate only user data (home folder, mail, calendar, address book).. I do not need to recover the whole server as some services need to be reconfigured.
Can I use the installtion program as there is an option to migrate from other serves? If so, can I select what to migrate?

Migration can be handled by the installer or run post-installation by launching /Applications/Utilities/Migration Assistant.app. You'll get three checkboxes: User accounts, applications and "other data." You can exclude certain users from migration, but you can't otherwise alter the list of files brought in from your backup.
You might choose to migrate users and applications, then, post-install, mount your Time Machine backup as a volume and copy over whatever arbitrary data you want to recover. Don't forget to turn Time Machine off so you don't risk clobbering your backed-up data.

OAS Enterprise Manager shows false Hostname after reinstall the server

we have an OAS 10.1.2.0.2 with and 10g (10.2.0.1.0) Database.
Ater a systemcrash we had to reinstall the DB (the dbf-Files are from an backup) and OAS.
we decieded to rename the server.
But now we have the following problem: the Enterprise Manager show the old Hostname.
I see the thread for OAS Re: Oracle Reports Stop Working after Join the Server to the Domain !!!
which points to the script "cmd /c chgiphost.bat -mid"
Is there a similar "Script" for the DB?
(I searched whithin the dbf-files and found lots of old hostnames...)

For database is a different procedure, chgiphost is for OAS only, if you want to check this for database, you could, either go to DB forum and ask same question, or look in the admin guide for the DB you are using. There is going to be the way to make this changes.
