Reinstall OS9.2.2-CD start up freezes-cannot boot OS from CD to install

I recently had to trash the main drive due to a massive failure on my G4. The second HD has 10.4.11 installed on it. I boot from there. It does not have 'classic' installed. Tried to start up and got the message to install OS 9. Got out the install CD from the original PowerMac package that has 9.2 on it. When I try to boot from the CD it gets 90% done then freezes.
The CD appears to be OK.
What do I do now? I really need OS 9 for a project..
Maybe I should reinstall the original 10.1 from scratch on another HD and then do all the upgrades?

I am still stuck.
So far:
When I use the OS9.2.2 system CD the screen freezes as it tries to load Quicktime, at least that's the last icon that shows beofre it freezes.
Tried a retail OS9.0.4 CD and I got the blinking OS symbol and file folder with ?.
I erased the second HD and the utility asked if I wanted to install OS9 drivers, I did this.
Cannot get eother CD to load the OS9 installer. when I try to load 'classic' I get the 'don't have a system folder installed' message.
Tried the 'option' on CD start-up. I get the HD system and the CD as options. I select the CD and I am back to the freeze.
How do I verify the OS9 drivers were installed? Is there any way other than using an istaller to get the OS9 system folders on one of the hard drives to use?

  • WIndows failed to start. (0xc0000225); cannot run Safe Mode and no install disc

    Hello,
I am currently having a huge problem where my computer is stuck on "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the case. To fix the problem:..." (SEE IMAGE)
I have tried finding solutions online but none have worked. My computer DOES NOT go to safe mode if I press F8 nor do I have an 'installation disc'. In fact, I tried the recovery discs from my brother's laptop and the computer doesn't even recognize that they're
    in the disc tray.
My computer is an Acer Aspire M3470 running Windows 7 Home Prem OA.
If it helps, this occurred when I tried running Spybot S&D due to Malwarebytes refusing to start up (pretty sure I had a virus of some sort).
The other image is what shows before the error screen; pressing CTRL-F does nothing.
    Thank you in advance!

I have obtained an installation ISO and put it on both a disc and USB but neither work. I get a blue screen with the following text and cannot proceed no matter what I press:
"RECOVERY You pc needs to be repaired. The application or operating system could not be uploaded because a required file is missing or contains errors...
    File:\WINDOWS\system32\winload.efi Error code: 0xc0000225
You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media, contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.

  • Reinstalling OS9 Classic, You cannot continue, there is nothing to install

I am using Tiger on an Imac with OS9. I cannot open the OS9 for some reason. I notice in the preference window the OS9 disc logo is missing. Somehow I guess I messed up the software. I found the discs that came with that Imac, and when I tried to reinstall OS9, I got a message saying "You cannot continue, there is nothing to install"
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thank You,
    Bob

  • ITunes freezes when importing music from CD and also when playing,

Just recently iTunes has started to freeze when importing music from a CD - it just stops and the progress bar remains as it it. The whole mac then freezes and I get the spinning beachball. I can't use any other application. The same thing is happening when I play music - it's ok for a song or two and then freeze and the beachball appears. I've downloaded iTunes again and reinstalled and it's just the same. Using Safari and Mail etc is no problem at the moment.
I also have a problem getting the iMac to recognise external hard drives - it won't show them on either firewire 400 or 800. I can see my 1TB drive using usb ( it shows up on the desktop, whereas on firewire it doesn't do this) but if I try to open it and see the contents in finder, it opens, but doesn't dispaly the contents of the drive. I can see the disk size but just get a grey spinning wheel in the bottom right hand of the finder window. Timemachine does not work.

I have had the same problem & itunes crashes when i try to import a file. Now i can't even start itune. I've reinstalled itunes so many times, without a fix, I've lost count.
I did post and had no reply. I'll watch this post with interest.

  • Macbook pro freezing on boot up

My Macbook Pro suddenly started to freeze on boot up.  It takes a number of attempts before it finally boots successfully.  Sometimes the video freezes.

    Steve Zoom wrote:

I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro, and when I upgraded to Lion the freezing started. Genius bar was at a loss, but a Google search found a thread that said to turn off Automatic Graphics Switching. It's been 2 months and this solution seems to have solved the problem.
Thank you!! Just tried this and it worked. My login screen at startup would freeze up if I didn't enter anything for 30 seconds, then got worse to where I had to input my password within FOUR (4) seconds or it would lock up and I would get the beach ball and have to hit the power button to shut down and start over.  I just went to Apple > System Preferences > Energy Saver > uncheck the top box "Automatic graphics switching" then re-started the machine.  I waited 1.5 minutes and NO LOCKUP.  I've wasted hours on the phone with Apple Support, re-installing Lion (10.7.4), zapping PRAM, etc. etc.
Once again, NO THANKS Apple nor Microsoft -- YEA for Google searches and online support groups/ community forums like this one!!

  • Freeze at startup, cannot boot and access bios?

Guys, I'm in very weird situation. After resize one partiion in my hard drive (using Gparted), at startup, I press ESC to access the BIOS options menu, following info displayed on screen Processor Type: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHzProcessor Speed: 3200MHzL1/L2/L3 Cache Size: ...Memory Size: 4096 MB DDR3Channel 1 A: XMM1 4096 MBBIOS Revision/Date: v80.05 02/05/2015 Press the Esc key for startup menu Then the computer freezed, cannot boot to my OS (Linux Centos 7), I press Esc key but nothing happened. I've tried to reset the BIOS by removing the jumpers and CMOS battery. It works (OS loaded successfully) , but after rebooting, the same problem occur. I'm very confusing. I just bought this desktop recently. Please help me to figure this out. Thanks.

I would suggest doing what is known as a *Safe Boot* on your MacBook. To do this, hold down the shift key on your keyboard during startup. Among other things, this forces a check of your hard drive's directory, which is equivalent to using *Disk Utility* to repair the disk. It may or may not be successful. Note that the Safe Boot process takes a while. Keep holding down the key.
    Best of luck.

  • HELP! Started as freezing and now won't start!

Just to start, I have a Satellite P500 (P500-ST6822 to be specific).
    Specs:
    System Manufacturer/Model Number: TOSHIBA/Satellite P500-ST6822
    OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P8700 2.53GHz
    Memory: 6144MB RAM
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M
    Hard Drives: Hitachi HTS723232L9A360 - 320GB
At first my laptop just started to freeze every so often. The last major change that happened was installing Bioshock 2, but I really doubt that is the cause of my problems. I do not pirate, torrent, download sketchy files. I build my own desktops, but when I have issues I can normally just blame myself and figured out what's wrong. Because this laptop was built by someone else, I'm at a bit of a loss.
When things were working, but still freezing, the freezing would even occur in Safe Mode. Now when I try to start it up, the lights come on as if it's working fine, but nothing shows up. It's not just that the display isn't working, otherwise it would make the Windows startup noise at some point after leaving it. On 3 occasions of trying to start it the computer beeped a couple times. 1 somewhat long beep and 2 quick ones.
Because nothing even shows up I'm doubting it being just a HDD issue (wish it was since I could just get a new one and be happy...), not an issue with Windows 7, or any driver issues.
I'm really at a loss here. My first instinct is to open it up and try to figure it out myself, but I can't do that without voiding the warranty on the whole system. So, what do I do? Can anyone help me figure it out?

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

The files with submitted crash report ids are inside the ''submitted '' directory, from the directory you found the LastCrash.txt timestamp file.
The file names will begin with '''bp-'''
There might be more information from the crash report, but it might just tell us you are crashing the first time Firefox tries to use a font.
One thing I suppose you could do is select only those fonts you've got in Tools -> Options -> Content -> Fonts and Colors -> Advanced and then uncheck the '''Allow pages to use their own fonts''' option.
    See http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Options+window+-+Content+panel#Fonts_Dialog
To be honest, I can't find anything on this Netscape Font Navigator and it sounds highly dubious.

Now I've checked the forums and followed the advice of uninstalling all Apple applications, rebooting, and reinstalling iTunes.
This is not working. I've tried installing as Administrator but doesn't make any difference at all.
There must be a way to fix this? I'm not a tech geek but I want to avoid having to take my laptop back to factory settings to sort this out.

  • I keep getting this error message when i try to install the latest version of itunes, the program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. try reinstalling the program to fix this problem??

I am having trouble reinstalling my Itunes on my desktop which uses Windows 7 and I can download it but once it's complete i keep getting this error message...The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. Please help me.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
