Reinstall Photo booth

I accidentally uninstalled photobooth when trying to uninstall another program. How do I reinstall it? Where can I find the application?

Hi sfriff & welcome to discussions...
If you boot to your Snow Leopard install DVD, you can elect to do a 'custom install' and the choose to just the applications...might be easiest for you in the long run.
Photo Booth is not part of optional installs and can not be installed this way.

How do I reinstall Photo Booth?

I know this is an old thread and you didn't state why you wanted/needed to reinstall Photo Booth, but I have the same question because the Photo Booth on my iMac now says "Photo Booth couldn't save your photos" when I launch it. The message continues "Photo Booth encounterred an error when trying to save your photos. Your photos cannot be saved at this time." The option at this point is to click "OK." But when I do that I get the same message.
I used Pacifist to replace the app from the OS installler I have on a USB flash drive and it seemed like everything went fine. There were no messages to think otherwise. After Pacifist replaced it I tried to launch it but got the same message I did before.
With Pacifist you have the choice of either updating the app, or replacing the the app, and I chose "Replace." I wonder if the outcome would be different if I had chosen "Update," but having already replaced it I don't think updating will serve any purpose. I'll try that but in the meantime if anybody has any suggestions I will surely appreciate them. Thanks for any help you may give me.

  • Photo Booth new effects are not working on Lion

The new face-tracking effects for Photo Booth are not working for some reason. They just look like there's no effect for them. I've tried rebooting my iMac and I know my mac can support Lion because everything else works fine. Is ther any way i could fix this? Maybe uninstall then reinstall Photo Booth? I was really excited for this feture and im so dissapointed that it's not working

In my case, IMac OS 10.7 Lion, I can't use Photo booth which it said "Check with the developer to make sue Photo Booth works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstll the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X."
    Should I reinstall the program?

    (1) If you have not already done so since you reinstalled Photo Booth, I suggest you use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions and then try Photo Booth again. If you have never repaired permissions before, be patient. If your disk requires much repair, the process can take up to several hours the first time.
    (2) If your Photo Booth problem persists after repairing permissions, backup all important information on your Mac before restoring again. If you need help with backup, see your Mac's Help or
      http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1553
    (3) After you have backed up your Mac, reinstall Photo Booth again.
If your Mac came with OS X 10.5.x, the easiest way to do this is to reinstall all of your Mac's Apple bundled application software by using the DVD that came your iMac. (The software restore disk for another kind of Macs doesn't work.) Photo Booth is one of the applications that will be restored.
If you need help with this restore process, follow the instructions in the User Guide manual that also came with your Mac. If you do not have access to your User Guide, you can download it by finding your Mac here and following the links for "Manuals" for your specific model:
      http://www.apple.com/support/imac/
If your iMac came with a version of OS X earlier than 10.5.x and you upgraded to Leopard, use your Leopard upgrade DVD and instructions to reinstall the Leopard bundled apps.
I suggest you *repair permissions* immediately before and after restoring your apps.

  • Photo Booth crashes after starting: Kern protection failure

Photo Booth does not start - it crashes before it has fully opened. Selecting Restart or *Resetting preferences and restart* does not work. The iSight camera works fine in Skype. I reinstalled Photo Booth using Pacifist (going back to version 2.0 from 2.0.1 of Photo Booth), but the same error appeared.

I can't find Photo Booth, it is off the dock, can't find in in applications, it is nowhere to be found. Please tell me where else I can look or how to reinstall it. My family and I miss it. Thank you.

    My ideas for your consideration...
It would seem that either someone moved it (not a good idea for any OS X app) to a different location or deleted it from the disk. As all users if they can show you where it has gone.
If you cannot locate it on your disk and move it back to the Applications folder, you can reinstall Photo Booth in one of three ways I can suggest. They are listed below in order of how easy reinstallation is to accomplish:
      (a) Restore from a working version on a backup disk
      (b) Use your Mac's install/restore DVD to reinstall Photo Booth (or all bundled applications).
If you need help, see the instructions in the User Guide that came with your MacBook.
      (c) Alternatively, if you want to reinstall ONLY Photo Booth,
you can use Pacifist to install only the Photo Booth app.
Once you have Photo Booth back, you can add it back to the dock by merely dragging the Photo Booth application iCon from the Applications folder to the desired location in your dock.

  • Photo Booth Broken!

I have a huge Photo Booth problem. One of the image filters - specifically "thermal camera" isn't displaying a picture at all when selected. In the effects menu, where you have the grid showing all the different effects that can be applied to the picture it shows up fine, but once I select it, Photo Booth just shows a blank black screen.
If I take a picture with it like this, and select the picture to view it, then Photo Booth doesn't even show the black screen, it just looks like this (click the link):
    http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/6818/picture1kd0.jpg
I've tried reinstalling Photo Booth from the OSX DVD, I've tried trashing various preferences and nothing works. It happens with every user account, too.
Here's a screen of the effects menu showing the thermal effect working properly there.

    Help!

Hi, it's just the one option in Photo Booth that doesn't work in this way, yes. By the way, the screen I get is solid black, not green.
At the moment, it's looking more and more likely that I'm going to have to reinstall my system, which would be absurd.

  • Photo Booth start up without a videowindow

Does anybody know how it is possible that Photo Booth start up without a video window and cause of that i can't take pictures or video's. Videochat works normaly. I deleted com.apple.PhotoBooth.plist, but that didn't help. MB details: MB white (Nov 2006, May 2007), OS X 10.4.11. Kind Regards Nina.

    Welcome to  Discussions, Nina
If your 10.4.11 Mac's Mac OS X Maintenance is not up-to-date, do it now and see if your problem goes away.
(For other readers, my 10.5.x Mac runs the Chrons automatically whenever needed as soon as it wakes from sleep. However, I must force the chrons on my 10.3.x and 10.4.x Macs unless they are kept awake 24 hours a day.)
If Maintenance is not your problem, it seems to me that you need to reinstall Photo Booth. There are three ways to do this in order of how easy they are to accomplish:
    (0) Copy from your backup disk (if you backup your system or have more than one 10.4.11 Mac)
    (1) Reinstall all Bundled Software that came with your Mac. If you need help,
see page 51 of the User Guide that came with your MacBook.
    (2) If you do not want to reinstall ALL bundled software, you can use Pacifist to install only the Photo Booth app.

Some other things you can try if necessary:
    (1) Use Disk Utility to repair permissions, restart your Mac, and test whether the problem persists.
    (2) Try all relevant suggestions from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
    (3) If you updated using your Macs'  > Software Update... feature,
use Disk Utility to repair permissions. Then download and install the
    Mac OS X v10.6.2 Update (Combo): http://support.apple.com/kb/DL959
Immediately after the restart that completes the update, repair permisssions again.
Then test whether your problem persists.
We will watch for your status update.

  • I've deleted FaceTime and photo booth how do reinstall

I've deleted FaceTime and photo booth and can't seem to reinstall them.ive looked in app store the ones that came with my iPad are not on there! How can I reinstall deleted apps please help x

Try this as well - go to Settings>General>Restrictions. If you turned on restrictions you may have disabled those apps - or at least Facetime - and they/it will not appear on the iPad until you turn off the restrictions.
You will not lose anything if your restart your iPad.
Swipe to the right from your first home screen to get to the iPad Spotlight search. Type in FaceTime or PhotoBooth and hit go on the keyboard. If they show up - you will know they are on the iPad somewhere.

You can call Apple Customer Support 1-800-767-2775, provide the Serial Number and specifications of the Mac, and for a fee, a replacement set of system discs (if available), can be ordered.
However, the discs will be for the original version of OS, that was pre-installed, when the Mac was manufactured.

  • Reinstalling Front Row and Photo Booth?

    Hi,
I had a hard drive failure a couple of months ago on my 20" G5 iMac. The Apple store replaced it in a day and reinstalled the OS. Thanks. Only after I had my entire computer set back up with all my apps, music, movies, etc., I realized that Front Row, and Photo Booth were not installed. How can I get them back on my machine without reinstalling the OS again? I tried Pacifier, but I don't know all of the different files and packages needed to intsall those two apps. Anyone know of a different solution?
    Thanks

Hey there ... Go search for a program called Pacifist. Its a shareware but it will let you do the job. I used it before to Install Mail which I accidently trashed it. It should absolutely work for Front Row too. Hope this will solve your problem. Sawadee Krub

  • Photo Booth freezing/crashing Mavericks OS. How can I fix this?

I downloaded Mavericks via Apple on November 5.  Before installing it I made sure my Mac system was totally functional: ran disk repairs, checked if I had installed apps that wouldn't run in Mavericks, etc. Everything went well during installation, and I was able to use my laptop for two days UP UNTIL I tried to use Photo Booth! I got a message that Photo Booth was gathering my images (presumably to move it to a new location based on new configuration of Mavericks), and there was also a progress bar. Suddenly I realized that the progress bar would not advance and that my MacBook Pro (mid 2007) had frozen. I restarted it, only to have it freeze upon startup.  I tried resetting the PRAM, and that only allowed me to make it to the desktop, but with no visible hard drive on my desktop, no dock at all, and I couldn't access any of the menus in the Finder window, not even to restart or shut down. Then I tried several options:
Hard reset and tried to boot in safe mode. NOTHING. It was just impossible to safe boot it. At times I'd get up to half of the progress bar and then it'd freeze. Hard reset Command + S
    Hard reset Command + V
Hard reset and reset the PRAM again, etc.
Eventually I'd  make it to the desktop, the dock would show up, also the files on my desktop, but it'd not take longer to freeze again. It was all very odd because there was always a point when it'll would just freeze.
Then I decided to try Command + R to repair disks. I Verified and repaired the discs. Then I restarted, and it froze. I decided to reinstall the OS through the Recovery mode screen. I did it. No success the problem persisted. I redid all this last steps again: Command + R, verify/repair disks, reinstall OS X. Once completed: MBP froze. The whole process was so time consuming that I gave up and just turned off my computer. The next day I was able to turn my computer on with success. Some of the folders that were open before the Photo Booth crash were on open. I closed everything and turned my MPB off using the Finder menu. Then I turned it on again, and once I got to the desktop and found no folders open, and I reopen Safari because I remember I was using it before opening Photo Booth. To my surprise it opened and all the pages I was visiting before the crash were there as if Safari resumed just how it was before the crash. I turned it all off again using the Finder menu. I was wondering if those Safari and the folders that were left open were for some reason conflicting with the system's start up. Then I turned it on again and this time I proceed to work with my computer but not before verifying/repairing the disks through the System Preferences menu.
Everything went well. Later that day I decided to open Photo Booth to see if it'd work smoothly. It didn't open very smoothly but I was able to play around with it for a while. I turned it off and everything was great. The system was a little slower than what I was used to but I guessed it's because Mavericks demands a more advanced hardware. Then the next day the problem restarted!!! I was able to get to my desktop normally and decided to open Photo Booth to complete the task I wanted it to use it on the day of the first freeze/crash. And it froze my computer and it all restarted. This time, even redoing all the steps and even after reinstalling the system 3 times, I still can't get my computer to work. But at least one thing I know: this problems is being caused by Photo Booth! I'm desperate and I don't want to format and do a clean install because I will lose some important files. Does any of you have ANY idea of what's going on and what can I do to fix this? It's unnerving to have it fixed once (not knowing how) and suddenly find myself dealing with the same problem again!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report — they're very long and not helpful.

Do you have a backup you can try to restore from? If not, you will need to reinstall the OS.
Do a backup. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors.  Then re-install the OS.
