Reinstall QuickTime X a very COMPLICATED ONE TRUST ME!!!!

People I'm such a loser, accidently I trashed my quicktime playex X while cleanig my macbook pro 13 inch using the Mac Keeper software. Obviously if you are such a lucky guy as I am, you would go to your Mac OS Snow Leopard or Application install DVD and using Pacifist or other application you would download your Quicktime in minutes and everything would be fine.
BUT when I try to do so, my Mac OS or Application DVD WOULD NOT READ. The funniest thing is that i never used the **** DVD's this is my first time andit seems they don't work, now it coul be because now i live in argentina and my DVD driver got stock in DVD region 4 (for latin america) i bought my apple in Vegas back in 2010 and it was region north america, wich I think is region 2, but anyways the DVD won't work, I have NO warranty, NO money right now to buy the quicktime X and I know is not legal but i for sure try torrents etc, NOT.
I just pay internationally and called to apple support in USA and they said that the good thing is that I can go to a Apple Store and they would try my DVD's once they see it dosen't work they might install quicktime X for me. BUT in argentina the govertment does not aloww companys from USA to manage any king of bussiness in there own, so here in argentina THERE IS NO APPLE STORE only a place called MACSTATION that is a retail company that charge even the air you take inside the store. I know that i can use Quick time 7 Pro, BUT I'm a filmmaker student and I just recently bought my Final cut Pro X Suite (I save lots of money for that) and the only way that software works in full is by using and sharing skills wih the quicktime X application. WHAT SHOULD I DO????? there sould be something for this particular case! THANKS

QuickTime is not an application. It is a structure embedded in the operating system. If you had actually actually trashed this structure, it is likely you could not use most applications installed on your system since virtually all process/display image content in one form or another. On the other hand, The QT X Player and the QT 7 Player are both "applications." Therefore, it is most likely that all of the routines you require for FCP processing are sill available for your use—assuming you have not deleted your FCP "pro" codec components.
My recommendation would be to download and install the QT Player 7 app or MPEG Streamclip for temporary use while you try to locate a copy of the QT X Player app if you really want it. For instance, if you have it installed on a secondary Snow Leopard platform or have an external Snow Leopard start-up drive connected to your main system, then it would also contain a copy of the QT X Player which could easily be copied from one "Applications" folder to the other.

  • Blue screen crash reinstalling quicktime on notebook

Can anyone help? for a month and a half I have been trying to reinstall quicktime and itunes on my toshiba window xp laptop. Everytime I get a blue screen crash at the end of the quicktime install around where it says something like initializing quicktime types. When I submit this error to microsoft the report says it is due to Antivirus software, I am running Window onecare live. I have tried every fix I can find out there including removing onecare and I still get the crash. I really do not care to rebuild the system. Please help, I am getting tired of the music on my ipod! Thx

I have been having this "problem" since running a QuickTime update in January 2007. I've spent countless hours de-installing anti-virus software, minimizing my hardware footprint (removing printers, scanners, etc.), detoxing my system with Microsoft Uninstallers, Registry Cleaners, and running Windows XP in a minimized manner.
On Thursday April 10, 2008 I spent four hours on the telephone with a competent, qualified Microsoft XP engineer (plus an XP supervisor in the background). Microsoft was very diligent and completely hospitable working with me to resolve this issue. In the end, Microsoft recommended I talk with Apple directly.
On Friday April 11, 2008 I spent one hour with an Apple engineer. Once again, the customer service was excellent, but the results are the same. Microsoft and Apple engineers are "Befuddled". We've tried eliminating all Apple software from my PC via files and the registry, rebooting, and then attempting a fresh install. The PC reboots when "Initializing Quicktime Types" is displayed towards the end of the installation process.
We've even set up a new user and attempted to install Quicktime on a USER with no associated "software overhead". No success.
I've tried the Quicktime Only install, and Quicktime with Itunes installation. Same results. I am taking my PC to Baybrook Mall (Friendswood, Texas) on April 20 for the MAC Genius Bar people to review this problem on my PC. My expectations are very low... since I'm usually much more PC and XP competent than most people. My background occupation is Information Technology from 1975 to date. I evened owned and operated computer stores with "New Build" and "Repair" shops. I'm very seasoned working on PC's and associated software, and this is the first problem where I join the "Befuddled".
If anyone has a solution for this problem, please contact me and make a posting for everyone else.
    Thanx.

  • Help! I need to reinstall quicktime-

I ran into trouble after I downloaded Perian and Divx, hoping to view and (eventually) save avi files from my rca small wonder camera as quicktime files. At first it worked, but very quickly quicktime began to crash when I would try to open one of these files - and the next day it began to crash whenever I tried to open any files at all. These included standard .mov files. So I got desperate and thought I'd better get rid of Perian and Divx for mac, which I did. Quicktime still crashed. So then, just now, I decided to uninstall and then reinstall Quicktime. I did what I had done with Perian - searched for "quicktime" and trashed everything I found. This was a mistake! because, when I downloaded Quicktime 7.5 from the Apple site, it's just an updater, and there is nothing to update. How do I get the full program back?!!

    Thanks! It is working now.
BTW, what are people doing about mov files opening extremely slowly, dropping frames, and so on? That's why I installed Perian in the first place (and also to view avi files). But I don't want to mess up Quicktime again - so how can I fix these problems. Apologies for spamming my own thread - and thanks for the advice.

  • Can't open WMV files in Quicktime. How can I reinstall Quicktime?

For some reason I am unable to open WMV files in Quicktime even though I have Flip4Mac Player Pro (WMV files played fine in Quicktime until recently).
ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Quicktime X is a great little piece of software. However, Quicktime X is very finicky on which codec/file format it can decode/play.
Luckily, there are DOZENS of alternative video/media players and extensions available for the Mac. Some of them are even FREE. Some of the better FREE ones include...
    PERIAN (quicktime extension)
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/22923/perian
    QUICKTIME 7.6.6
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL923
    VLC Media Player
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/5758/vlc-media-player
    NICEPLAYER
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/15136/niceplayer
... And if none of those work, there is a possibility that, that video file may be corrupted.

  • Uninstall & Reinstall QuickTime Daily

I have Windows XP. Since I updated iTunes (to 7) and QuickTime (to 7), I have been having many QuickTime problems. I have to uninstall and reinstall QuickTime daily to be able to use iTunes, or any other applications which use QuickTime. If I try to open a program needing QuickTime, a box pops up saying that I cannot open the application because I need to install QuickTime 6 or more. Is there anyway to get around this? I am tired of uninstalling and reinstalling QuickTime every single day. I've tried turning Firewall on or having it off. It didn't seem to matter. I've also tried turning my RegCure & XoftSpySE off and that didn't seem to matter either. HELP!!! Anyone have any ideas what is going on?

Having the same prob reinstalling QT7.2 ('already newer version' etc.), but don't have the uninstall feature of 10.4/Tiger available. Does QT write a hidden file somewhere I can trash and make things all more better?
Have Tiger on my other DA-G4 and G5 Dual, but upgrading is out of the question on this, my work machine, as I'd have to upgrade the ProTools cards too - about $10k from what I'm told.
The problem appeared immediately after installation of the Nov11th QT7.3/iTunes update. My 10.3.9 ProTools G4 gets most of the way through the QuicKeys X3 v3.11 startup, then the rainbow spinner pops up and 'Application Not Responding' shows in the 'CMD-Shift-ESC' window.
Have tried reinstalling QuicKeys, preceeded by a drive search for word/letter combinations using the Finder search [i.e. no hidden file searches], but no luck. Even went with the default shortcuts just in case one of mine was corrupted but no difference there.
    TIA,
    Bruce

  • How do I reinstall Quicktime X or 7?

    Hello!
I am running 10.6.8 on an iMac with a 3.2 GHz Intel Core i3.
I wanted to use Quicktime 7 Pro instead of Quicktime X.
QT7 would not install with QTX present, so I deleted QTX by putting it in the trash.
This did not fully uninstall QTX, and now I am unable to install any version of Quicktime my computer.
How can I reactivate or uninstall QTX so that I can have some type of Quicktime program in use?
I don't care about which version of Quicktime it is at this point, I just need one of them to be present.
Thanks ever so much with any help you are able to provide.

Actually, you can probably use an App called Pacifist to reinstall Quicktime X.

  • How can I reinstall QuickTime Pro on Win7?

I purchased QuickTime Pro in September. Then this week, I upgraded my PC from Windows XP to Windows 7. In doing so, I had to wipe out my PC's partition and re-install every program back on my PC.
This has been a relatively painless process, except for QuickTime Pro. I re-installed Quick Time 7 (the free version) on my PC but there appears to be no way to upgrade the free version of QT back to Pro without purchasing this product all over again (and I refuse to do that).
I've tried talking to Apple's technical support. They've given me directions written for previous versions of Windows, but there appears to be no instructions for how to upgrade to QT Pro if you have Windows 7.
I've been on the phone with their technical support for the past two hours and no one at Apple appears to know how I could reinstall QuickTime Pro.
    I'm astonished.

Here's the link to retrieve your lost registration key http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2376
What version of QT did you have on XP? If you had QT version 6.X pro then you would have to purchase a new QT pro key for QT 7. As Apple releases complete new versions of QT they require a new pro key, updates to a version do not. In other words the pro key for QT 6 does not work with QT 7.
And if you were using QT pro 6.X you cannot revert back to that version. Because QT 6 doesn't support windows 7

When I try to play a downloaded TV show, itunes stops working and I get a error message "APPCRASH". I have updated itunes and removed and reinstalled quicktime.

Open your QuickTime control panel (either via the Control panels, or by going "Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences" in the Quicktime Player). In the Advanced tab, uncheck Enable Direct3D video acceleration:
    ... and click OK.
Quit the QuickTime Player if you have it open. Restart the PC and try watching the videos in iTunes again. Do they play now?

  • Hello there - I am sharing an iPhoto library across two accounts on the same computer - it works fine EXCEPT for Quicktime movies - they play on one account and claim I don't have the rights on the other - all permissions are on and ok?

Hello there - I am sharing an iPhoto library across two accounts on the same computer - it works fine EXCEPT for Quicktime movies - they play on one account and claim I don't have the rights on the other - all permissions are on and ok?

It should be in the Users/ Shared folder.
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Note the option to check and repair Library Permissions

  • More than one trusted resource for OIM 9.1.0.2

    Hi all,
I just heard that in OIM 9.1.0.2 it is possible to have more than one trusted source, as it is not necessary to configure it to Xellerate User Resource Object. Is that correct?
To configure OID Connector as Trusted Source on OIM 9.1.0.2 do I have to import its XML file?
    Regards
    Hossam

From what i recall, the OID connector does not come with a second object for the trusted one. I think it comes with the Xellerate User object updated.
To make a new trusted resource, create the resource object, check the trusted source box. On the recon fields, add in all your recon fields you want to use. On the recon action rules tab, set your rule for match not found to create a user, and entity match to link to user. Create a reconciliation rule for this object and the xellerate user object. Create a provisioning process defintion with no additional tasks. On the reconciliation field mappings tab, map all your recon fields to OIM user fields. You'll want to create any entity adapters/event handlers needed to provide required fields such as User Type, and User Role, and Organization and so on.
Now when you get a recon event for this object, it will be a trusted object and can create new users for you and update the OIM profile.

  • Need to reinstall QuickTime X - no disk

I have a MacBook that was came with Leopard but now has Snow Leopard; it received a new HD through AppleCare, and was given 10.6.3 during the repair. I was NOT given new install disks.
I now need to reinstall QuickTime X, which I (foolishly) deleted in a failed attempt to install QT 7 (to play AVI movies).
Downloaded QuickTime 7 will not install because my system says I have QT X installed.
How do I re-install QuickTime X (or install 7) to 10.6.3 without any Snow Leopard install disks?
    Thanks.

Until you get a Snow Leopard disk, you won't be able to find the files anywhere.
For your original problem, Quicktime 7 should have been installed in the Utilities folder. You can't install the QT7 from a download because it is not the correct version to run on Snow Leopard. If you had a QT7 Pro license, it will work with the version of QT7 that should have been installed.
