Reinstall/repair adobe reader 11.0.08 on win xp pro sp3 - ole trouble.

Hi,
i want to reinstall adobe reader 11.0.08 on win xp pro sp3.
Reinstallint using setup seem to work, but ole is not working: e.g. from word , I do insert object, click ole , select adobe acrobat object, then app freezes.
2 processes are created dor adobe reader and I have to do "end-task".
Inserting another ole object (e.g. excel) works!
I tried uninstall from control panel.
I also downloaded and ran acrobat_ittools_cleaner_p1_061713 and acrobat_ittools_cleaner_p2_061713 (downloaded from your web site), then reboot and reinstall. No change!
Any hint?

Hi albourg,
Try disabling the protected mode in Reader and check the performance.
You can find the option at: Edit > Preferences > Security (Enhanced) > Enable Protected Mode at startup

Rave

  • Problem reading SD card on T400/Win XP Pro SP3

I have an SD card, which reads just fine on an olde T61. When I insert it into T400, I can browse the contents of the folders with no previews. When I am trying to copy a picture from the card to the computer, I have error message:
"Cannot copy <name>: The path is too deep."
I have all the updates installed through Lenovo update tool, and all windows updates installed as well.
Is there a solution to this problem? Has anyone experienced something similar?
    Thanks

I just got off the phone talking with Lenovo rep. He suggested the problem is caused by some incompatibility of SP3 with the SD card driver. The suggested fix is to follow the instructions here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itproxpsp/thread/b435c934-112b-4142-8bc5-496482c2c8...
Did anybody try this? I am quite hesitant to mess manually with the Win drivers. Any more ideas?
It seems strange, because the problem on that forum was reported in January, and apparently it has not been addressed by MS/Lenovo since then, with some automatic update.

  • Adobe Reader XI does not run using Win7 Pro

Trying to run Adobe Reader XI on a PC running Win7 Pro, but it starts, gives gray screen, then shuts down.  However, I can read pdf docs within Google Chrome.
I was running Reader version 10 with no problem, went to upgrade to 11, and now no versions work, as I've tried to uninstall and reinstall ver 9,10,11 but none work.  Help!

I ran the script but does not fix issue.
When I run Adobe Reader or click on a .pdf file on my drive, the Adobe reader program starts, but gives a gray screen while my hard drive spins, then program closes.
    any ideas?
    Thanks,

  • Installing Adobe Reader 9.3.4 Update in Windows XP SP3

I WAS UNABLE TO COMPLETE THE ABOVE SUBJECT.  I RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING NOTICE: UPDATE FAILED.  THE INSTALLATION SOURCE FOR THE PRODUCT IS NOT AVAILABLE.  VERIFY THAT THE SOURCE EXISTS AND THAT YOU CAN ACCESS IT.  ERROR: 1612.
WHAT IS THE INSTALLATION SOURCE?  THE ERROR CODE 1612 REFERS TO A ROBOPDF 3 WHICH SEEMS TO BE NO LONGER OBTAINABLE.
CAN ANYONE PLEASE ADVISE ME OR HELP ME WITH THIS UNEXPECTED PROBLEM?  THANK YOU.

Just adding to what ʇɐb ɹəuəllıʍ has said above, after cleaning the  corrupt installation :
         •download the 9.3.3 installer http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3.3/enu/AdbeRdr933_en_US.exe and run it;
•download the 9.3.4 update http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3.4/misc/AdbeRdrUpd934_all_incr.msp and run it.

  • Can I run Adobe Reader 7 or later with Acrobat 6 Pro?

I currently have Acrobat Pro 6 installed, which works fine. But I am now getting a message appearing prior to opening some pdf's that the document may not display or format properly as they were made by a later version - these aren't the exact words but hopefully you get the idea.
Rather than upgrade to Acrobat Standard or Pro 9 I was going to install Adobe Reader 7 or later. Will Adobe Reader 7 or later work alright with Acrobat Pro 6 or will I get conflicts?
Operating system: Windows XP Pro - SP3

Adobe does not reccomend to have both Acrobat and Reader installed in a same Win machine, as they share some files and are most likely to conflict.

  • Uninstall Adobe Reader 9.3.2 in Windows 7 Pro

In Windows 7 Pro I have the Adobe Reader 9.3.2 three times and want to uninstall 2 Readers.
Over "Add or remove programs" I cannot remove the Adobe Readers, because no one Reader is existing there.
In the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility version 5.5 I find only one Reader. I can it remove, but after this the Reader is on its old place. And the second Reader, I want to remove, appears not. Is the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility not suited for Windows 7?
What can I do to uninstall 2 from 3 Adobe Readers?

Many thanks for your helpful advices!
Now I know, that after 9.3.0 first must be installed 9.3.1 and second 9.3.2. I see, this was the error and not the en_US/german problem.
I have prepared 3 screenshots of my Windows 7, to show you, that I have 3 Adobe Readers in my Adobe folder under C:\Program Files (x86).
Please see snap0003.jpg with the three Adobe Readers. In snap0004.jpg can you see my Add or Remove Programs: Adobe Reader is not existing.
In snap0005.jpg is a screenshot from Secunia PSI. I had the Adobe Reader 9.3.0 and they offer me the update to 9.3.2! That brings me an update error.
But my problem is, how can I uninstall 2 of 3 Adobe Readers. What can you say me to this problem?

  • My installation of Adobe Reader XI keep crashing on my MacBook Pro

    Hello,
I have a MacBook Pro running Lion 10.7.5 & Adobe Reader XI
95% of the time when I run Adobe reader it crashes.  Every now and again i works fine.
I've tried this with all external devices disconnected.  I've also re-fitted the origina 4GB that came with the machine & of course restarted the machine several times.  So far as I can tell  have no other issues with thr laptop or any of the applications installed
Has anyone else got this problem or can help me with it?
    Thanks

There are a lot of spammers who send fake update notifications to get you to install malware along with Adobe Reader (or instead). Perhaps, just perhaps, you got one of those.
If the notification was in email it was certainly a scam.

  • Adobe Reader 11.09 unstable on Win 8.1 in Company Network

Today I started rolling out Adobe Reader 11.09 in my company network.
Installed on 4 machines I have difficulties on 2:
    - 2 machines with Windows 7: no Problem
    - 2 machines with Windows 8.1: Adobe Reader is very unstable and slow
I tried opening pdf-files from a network share (as I read a different thread here) and from local hard drive.
Both times Adobe Reader gave no Response for minutes.
After changing back to 11.08: no problem.
    Anyone any idea?
If you need more detailed information just ask.

Not that anyone cares but I´ve solved the problem.
It has nothing to do with Windows 7 or Windows 8 but if the proxy in system settings is enabled or not.

  • Adobe Reader X 10.1 Install Failing on XP SP3 and Windows 7 (64 bit)

After using the Customization Wizard 10 to create an .mst and executing the install via SCCM 2007 which I have done many times before, I am getting the following error on both the XP SP3 and Windows 7 (64 bit) machines in the Application Event Log:
    Product: Adobe Reader X (10.1.0) -- Error 2229.Database: . Could not load table 'ServiceInstall' in SQL query: SELECT `Name`,`DisplayName`,`ServiceType`,`StartType`,`ErrorControl`,`LoadOrderGroup`,`Dependenc ies`,`StartName`,`Password`,`ComponentId`,`Directory_`,`FileName`,`Arguments`,`Description ` FROM `ServiceInstall`, `Component`, `File` WHERE `ServiceInstall`.`Component_` = `Component`.`Component` AND (`Component`.`KeyPath` = `File`.`File`) AND (`Action` = 1 OR `Action` = 2).
I used the following .msi to create the.mst:
    AdbeRdr1010_en_US.msi
Does anyone know where to go from here?
    Thanks, Sandy

I have found another possible bug affecting network printing with 10.1.2 in Protected Mode on XP SP3 machines that has not been previously documented:
A number of users in one office were not able to print with 10.1.2 in Protected Mode (even with the printing hotfix/patch previously released) to their default printer; however they were able to print fine with 10.0.1 in Protected Mode OR by disabling Protected Mode in 10.1.2.  They could print to Microsoft XPS Document Writer, however.
The cause was determined to be an issue with capitilization of the printer name in the registry!  10.1.2 in Protected Mode seems to be sensitive to this for some strange reason, though other apps don't care.
Check the following keys and ensure the capitalization of any references to name of your printer (or UNC path of the printer share) is consistent:
    HKCU\Printers\Connections
    HKCU\Printers\Settings
    HKCU\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\windows\Device
In our case, the reference to the name of the default printer was in lowercase, while the printer path recorded under settings was in UPPERCASE.   Changing this to match immediately fixed the problem.

  • Adobe Reader 8 compatible with Acrobat Standard and Pro 7?

Our organization has Adobe Reader 7 deployed to all users. Some users also have Acrobat Standard 7 or Acrobat Pro 7. We want to upgrade all users to Adobe Reader 8 (or maybe 9) but do not want to upgrade Standard and Pro users yet.
I have not been able to find any information about compatibility issues with Reader 8 and older versions of Acrobat, but last time we did an upgrade in similar fashion we experienced issues. Any insight?

Thanks for the reply. I stumbled across something today after posting. I had already known that If the ARX user also had one of the other products (AAXS or AAXP), then they would get the dialog box. Here is what I just figured out: if the user uninstalled ARX and re-installed (still having both ARX and AAXS or AAXP in the end) then they no longer get the dialog box. It seems like perhaps its an issue the AAXP and AAXS are overwriting something in the registry.
