Reinstallation of CS4

After system recovery, reinstallation of CS4 failed. Followed "Uninstall color porfiles rollback error..." unsuccessfully. Now what?

We can't know. You have not provided exact system inforkmation and otehr details. As a start rund the cleaner tool and try again:

Plugins missing after reinstallation of CS4

After Effects CS4 was crashing on an office Mac, so an IT engineer came in to reinstall the software. Now many of the inbuilt plugins are missing, although they do appear in the plugins folder. Included in the missing plugins are EasyEase, Sequence, Moka, TIFF, WAV and Wiggler. We are also missing the Metadata browser.

Reinstallation of CS4 failing

I have had cause to rebuild my system following a trojan issue. I reinstalled CS2 from my cd ok but the CS4 upgrade is failing with 'Installation of the following components has failed' and it comes up for all components. There is no explanation provided.
What is happening and how do I get around the issue?

Hi Dennis,
I am sorry to hear that you're facing trouble with installation.
You don't need to install CS2 in order to upgrade to CS4. Also, most of the latest OSs are not compatible with CS2 and cause problems. If you have the serial number of CS2, start installing CS4 and enter the number of CS2 (when prompted) to qualify for the upgrade.
Now, i would suggest you to remove CS2 from control panel, remove the remaining files and folders (if you find any) and then install CS4 after rebooting the machine.

Procedure to upgrade to CS4 from CS3 without retaining CS3

I am running 10.5.5 on a MacBook Pro. I now have Photoshop CS3 on the MBP. My Photoshop CS4 upgrade DVD just showed up in the mail, and I can't wait to use it.
I would like to install CS4, retain the preferences and presets from CS3 (Photoshop, Bridge, Camera Raw), and get rid of CS3 from my hard drive.
I was unable to find directions on the DVD, Adobe's site, or the forum. I found references to the importance of uninstalling CS3 first before installing CS4 (installing CS4 first and then uninstalling CS3 supposedly would remove some support files required by CS4 and require the reinstallation of CS4).
But if I were to uninstall CS3 before installing CS4, how would the CS4 installer be able to find evidence of CS3 on my MBP, which I presume would be required for the upgrade to work? And, how would I be able to retain my preferences and presets from the Photoshop, Bridge, and Camera Raw in CS3?
I realize from reading some of the posts here that some people prefer to have both CS3 and CS4 on their computers, and others want to only have CS4. I am in the latter camp.

I can't edit that but I will report what happen.
It now appears I either logged in as a different user , did an archival reinstall of my system before install the CS programs or the installer will only allow you a one time install and you have either install everything or you have to install all the CS3 programs you intend with that one install.
That would mean I have uninstall the one of the programs of CS3 I have installed and reinstall that and photoshop CS3 at the same time.
Though CS4 install is much more robust there should be a way to install the last version as well. Eventually there will be no disk or even a download but there has to be a formula and reasonable policy for uses who need to use the current as well as the older version of Adobe software.
However no matter how or why this eventually manifest itself it does and I think it should not.

Unusual behavior saving files in PS CS4

I'm having problems with the way Photoshop is handling the saving of files and I suspect they are all related, specifically:
Issue 1:
Create a new file
Edit the file
Close file
Photoshop brings up "Save As" dialog
No way to abandon the file or close without saving
Issue 2:
Open an existing file
Edit the file
Close the file
Photoshop closes and saves the file without prompting
Issue 3:
Create new file
Edit
Save to a location containing file of the same name
Photoshop overwrites original file without prompting
OS: Windows XP SP3
Adobe CS4 Design
Full removal and reinstallation of CS4 has not corrected the problem. I've searched the web for hours and cannot find any hint of this problem from anybody else.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.

You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

Photoshop CS4 serial number flagged as invalid on reinstallation.

Photoshop CS4 Serial number flagged as invalid when I know it's OK. I have been transferring my software to Windows7 from XP by running two operating systems on separate volumes so I can keep working while dealing with compatibility problems. I have my original CD with serial number that I have been using for years. I have wasted a lot of time on this but I am now at the stage where I have deactivated and uninstalled PS from XP, reinstalled from download from Adobe on Win7. When I install I'm asked for the serial number which is accepted OK. When I try to run PS I'm again asked for s/n but this time it's flagged as Invalid. I have had to resort to running as 30 day trial while I trying to find a solution. I'm now desperate, Help Please!

BUT the good news is, I have tried again this new day and NOW it goes through. Go figure!

Cs4 reinstallation invalid serial number

Hello,
today i tried to install Cs4 Design Standard (after downloading the installation program from adobe) on my new mac pro. I bought CS4 in 2010, but my new mac has no CD Drive.
The serial number is invalid and i don't know why!
Could you please help me?

Magenta123 did you download the installation files from Download CS4 products? I looked under your account and it looks like you have a German Education version of Design Standard CS4 registered under your account. The installation files on this page should work for the German language.
Did you migrate/transfer/copy any applications to this new Mac Pro? Often the migration process can cause valid serial numbers to be seen as invalid.

After Effects CS4 reinstallation failure

I uninstalled Adobe After Effects CS4 from a Mac OS X 10.5 due to the program's continuous crashing. When reinstalling it, the following notice appeared after inserting all 4 discs:
"Installation of the following components has failed: Adobe After Effects CS4"

Please follow the mentioned steps:
1. Go to Application/Utilities/Adobe Installers and look for After Effects CS4 uninstaller. If present run the uninstaller and try to installing again.
2. Copy the content of the DVD to your desktop and try to install.
3. Run the Cleaner tool and look for After Effect in the apps list. If present proceed with uninstallation: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
4. Download the CS4 software from the direct link: http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html and try installing again.

CS4 Reinstallation Issues - Fireworks/Photoshop

Hello:
I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. I have recently had to uninstall and reinstall Adobe CS4 on my mobile workstation. Upon reinstall, Photoshop, Fireworks, VersionQue & Drive as well as the media encoder show an error and will not load. Adobe Support directed me to copy the contents of the intallation disks to my HD and try to reinstall, but I got the same error. Been through the install dialog about 12 times, but no progress on those programs and their associated components
Is there anyway to force the individual programs to load w/o the master setup.exe file on the main disk? Any suggestions?

I have already ran the cleaner tool after several install attempts. Prior to running that, Fireworks would load with the other programs except for Photshop and Cue, now it won't.

InDesign CS4 to reinstall after a system crash. I have bought CS4 some years ago in order to update InDesign CS2. Of course, I have my S/N for CS4 but, during the reinstallation process, I have to give the S/N of InDesign CS2 wich is lost !

I'm unable to reinstall InDesign CS4 which was bought as an update of an old InDesign CS2. I have the serial number of CS4 but I have lost the S/N of CS2 which is required.

Thanks a lot for your answer. In fact, I’ve really registered CS2 in 2002 (october 14th). But I guess that, at this time, my email address was [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> which is no more presently usable.
So, when the installation program of CS4 requires the S/N of CS2 (because my CS4 was an update of a preceding CS2, I’ve an answer (1037-0225-5711-8675-6584-4525) but this answer is not considered as correct by the program.
I guess this change of mail adress is the reason why I don’t find, on my personal file on Adobe, any information about Indesign CS4 (S/N : 1037-0005-3808-1893-0944-6511) nor PhotoShop CS5 (S/N : 1330-0000-7535-1483-5980-1567).

Adobe AE CS4 Help Menu nonfunctional

AE Help, Scripting Help, Expression Reference, Animation Presets, Keyboard Shortcuts are all nonfunctional under the Help menu. Registration, Deactivation etc. are functional. This AE is with CS4 Premium Production on Windows Vista. This has been a problem since initial installation. It remained a problem on reinstallation a year and a half later. Is there a file that did not load from the disk that I should be aware of? I was hoping for updates to correct this but that has not happened.

I resolved the problem in CS4 by uninstalling and reinstalling AE. Evidently when I installed it from disk it didn't all install. The AE I have is part of a suite (PP) and I probably reinstalled the whole thing. CS5 has the Help pdf popping up when I am searching from the application window. This is a hindrance. See my problem for December 2011.

CS4 Master Collection, Quits on itself while starting

Hello everyone.
Im posting a question that I couldn't find all over the net.
I had some troubles on my mac pro and it started crashing on itself.
After that series of wthat-the-crapness, CS4 does not start any more. It would start to load and quit on itself unexpected without splashes or crash report. I've try removing with the clean script about 5 times now with reinstallations in between all of the trials, and it still fails.
I'm wondering if anyone can help me out here..

OK, we're going to need a little more information.
What operating system are you using? There are known issues with Apple's OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and CS4. Apple solved this by releasing an update on November 9th (see the following "update to Snow Leopard 10.6.2")
Have you tried using the Master Collection in another User? Make a new user and make it an Administrator and try opening the Master Collection applications. If it opens in the new user, you need to trash preference files in your regular user's /Library/Preferences.
Also have you activated the software. Adobe software requires activation. If the software was deactivated somehow, it will quit before starting.

Premiere Pro CS4 does not handle AVCHD Files well.

Loaded the master collection of CS4 when it first came out. I had purchased CS4 for the AVCHD file format. I had no problems using Premiere Pro until I ugraded to version 4.0.1 in March of this year then all AVCHD file selections dissappeared. Hence, I could not create new AVCHD projects and the existing projects did not fuction properly. I have been through a series of uninstalls (and deactivations) and reinstalls. Reinstalls did not work. Had to delete by renaming the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\7e74552a59eaf9fafd13f90894ac9bd to get the reinstall to work. I have also used Windows Install Clean Up to remove all Adobe CS4 files that the windows "Add or Rmove Programs" did not remove. When I did get the reinstall to work, Premiere Pro would work for awhile then became slow to the point the project became unusable. Tried the all upgrades again and again the selection of AVCHD files dissappeared. I do not need the AVCHD Intra capability. The last uninstall I just uninstalled Premiere. I could not reinstall Premiere until I uninstalled the entire master collection than the reinstall of just Premiere succeeded. Premiere was totally unusuable.
Has anyone had similiar issues with Premiere Pro and AVCHD files and were you able to resolve the problem? I am considering removing all Adobe products, including past versions and trying the reinstall again, or create another profile and install just the Adobe products, or - the last resort - reformating my hard drive and starting over again. I would like to get Premiere Pro working again properly before reformating.
Previous versions of Adobe have worked with no problems.

Windows XP sp3
5 hard disks each with 300 mb free
Intel Quad Core @2.4GHz each
4 GB of Ram
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS

I have CS5 so read there, and don't REMEMBER any such complaints
You do know that CS5 is 64bit only... so you will need to get Win7 64bit... and have a 64bit motherboard?
