Reinstallation of Itunes / missing purchases

I had to reformat the drive of my windows pc due to a virus. The backup of the disk is not okay, therefore I hoped that Itunes can reload all the sound files. It did not. How can I proceed to get the bought files again into Itunes' purchases directory? The Iphone 4 has not been modified at all - there I have all files, but no more at Itunes.
The second problem I have is re Tomtom for iphone 4. I was able to download it to Itunes. Iphone tried to install it, but after some time it told me that there is no space left on the disk - it was indeed zero - there must have been a preliminary file on the disk. I was not able to delete it - so I deleted tomtom from Iphone. Although I tried several times to synchronize my iphone - the tomtom file is not installed on the disk at all. What can I do to install that paid program again?
Thanks for early reply
Wolfgang

I keep rec'g "app error, try again". Did so three times and was unsucessful..
Try again now, bo. I was getting that error too, but the download page is displaying properly for me now.

    Hello there, Capricious13.
There are great pointers in the following Knowledge Base article. Depending on where you see the content and where you want to get it to, this should guide you to putting it in the right place:

  • Synced new ipod to itunes, now missing all but itunes store purchased music that is already on my phone

Synced our new ipod nano today to itunes. I don't know what happened but now all but itunes store purchases are in the library, my playlist is gone as well as all the music I had downloaded from my CD's. The iphone 5 still has everything on it but not on my computer. Frustrating!!   Now I'm scared to sync my phone, thinking I may lose all of my library off there as well. How do I get my library back on to my computer so I can transfer that music to my ipod?

Look into iTunes Match, a service from Apple that uploads your music in itunes to the cloud (not icloud) so you can download it to other devices.
    Try googling "itunes match"

  • ITunes songs purchased on iPod missing! help!

I purchased fours songs on my 16GB iPod Touch (a new Touch with updates included) using the iTunes application on my iPod. I've listened to them and they were fine.
Later, I synched the iPod to the iTunes (7.6.??) on my home computer (Windows XP, 2). I recall synching the "purchased" song folders. Now the 4 songs I purchased using my iPod are gone. They're erased, it appears, from the iPod. I don't know were they are or if they can be recovered. I have tried to become knowledgeable about my iPod, reading a guide book, web articles, etc. But I did not see this topic covered and didn't know to be cautious.
    So here are my questions:
    1) Is it possible the songs are still there lurking on my iPod (I don't see them when I look under "purchases" in the Music folder)? How to get them?
    2) How to avoid losing songs purchased on the iPod in the future?
    3) Will I be able to download them again without having to buy them again?

If they aren't shown on your iPod, then they aren't located on it.

Once you have chance to connect your iPod to the computer and if you have just purchased music from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store, then I would recommend you to transfer them immediately to your computer. Here's how to do so: [Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305465].

You can contact iTunes Customer Support. Use [this form|http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/browser> or the receipt received via e-mail. However you must understand that they have all right to deny a re-download, once it's responsibility to back up. Also the iTunes Store Terms of USe clearly states: *"All Sales are final"* .
    Hope this helps!

  • Why do I get a black screen in front row when watching some iTunes store purchases? esp Cars 2

We bought Cars 2 a few months ago from the iTunes store. The movie won't work in Front Row, we only get a black screen (except for the blue Front Row controls at the bottom) although the audio comes through just fine. The annoying part is all of our other iTunes store movies work fine in Front Row. Just Cars 2 is broken. I don't think that it is an authorisation problem because it plays okay in iTunes, Quicktime, even via airplay to an appleTV or via Home Sharing to our iPad.
The movie is only standard definition so I am guessing that it is not an HDCP issue; I understand that there is only HDCP on HD movies. We are playing it on a Mac Mini (core 2 duo) on a Sony Bravia via a VGA connector.
After a little bit of complaining, apple let us download the movie again in case the file was corrupted, but unfortunately the same problem with the new version.
The computer did have Perian installed at one point, but uninstalling and restarting made no difference.
I have found lots of reports of movies with missing picture in Front Row but these are all ripped videos, never with an iTunes Store purchase.
Apple won't refund our money as the purchase was more than 60 days ago by the time I gave up troubleshooting and reported the problem.

Yeah! Problem solved: It's a QT issue.
Cause: Mac Update Software downloaded a faulty QT.
Solution: Download QT from Apple's QT site.
Great to have the Video back

  • How to recover missing purchased items from my old region???

    Hi,
Before 2 months ago I'm tried to change my region in the Apple Store and I was have a problem it I can not change the area until the reset my balance to 0 and it was I have a balance of 0.40 pounds, I contacted with the technical support at Apple and they told me should reset your balance to 0, but the balance was only 0.40 pounds and I can not buy any product because that amount is too little, So they suggested me to reset my balance to I can change my region and I have accepted this and they have already reset my balance to 0 and then was able to successfully change the region .
Now I have another problem which I can't to recover missing purchased items from my old region !!!
How to recover missing purchased items ????
    Regards,
    Aziz

You cannot use the iTunes store there any longer just as you can no longer use the food store you used to visit.  Unless you can change your country back to the one you used to use you no longer have access to purchases made there which is why it is important you keep backups of all purchases made there.
The iTunes Store in a country is intended only for use by that country's residents, and only while they are in the country. To use the iTunes Store in a country you need a credit card (or other card type if acceptable in a country) issued in that country, billed to an address in that country, and also be physically present in that country when using the store.  You are also restricted to waiting 90 days between country changes.

  • My pc crashed and erased my itunes songs purchased from the itunes store. How do i get that content back without having to purchase them again?

my pc crashed and erased my itunes songs purchased from the itunes store. How do i get that content back without having to purchase them again?

I have somewhat of a similar problem. After iTunes last update, I am missing some of my purchased files of music, ringtones, and TV shows. Possibly movies, but just thought of that and did not look yet. Seems everytime there is an iTunes update, something happens, but usually an easy fix by just deleting music files from CD's that I loaded onto iTunes and no longer recognized after an update and reload from the hard drive. This time I do not have a current back up of all the music, ringtones, and tv shows I have purchased.
So I am also wondering how can I redownload purchases without being charged when there is no file left on the hard drive. It just stays listed in iTunes though.

  • Missing "Purchased By" Info

I am unable to play a few of my songs from an album I downloaded a while ago.  The album includes over 100 songs, so I didn't notice until now.  These songs include the "Account Name" info, but not the "Purchased By" info.  This seems to prevent me from listening to them, as iTunes thinks I'm not authorized to play them.  Even if this is not the problem, all of the songs that are missing this info cannot be played.  Does anyone have any advice as to how I can fix this?  Thank you in advance.

iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases
Under some conditions you can just delete the particular track from iTunes, then re-download it for free if permitted in your country.

  • Missing purchases, playlists, recently played, recently added, etc

After opening iTunes today, all of my new purchases(last 3 or 4 months)are gone. The icons for recently added, recently played, playlists, and everything else in the lower section are gone. I tried a few of the suggestions like looking in the recycle bin, and searching my computer for the files didn't do anything. I also re installed iTunes to no avail...

The default playlists are just Smart Playlists and you can recreate them. In iTunes go to File>New Smart Playlist
    "90s"
Match the rule "Year">"is in the range">"1990">to>"1999"
    You can do 50s, 60s, 70s & 80's by adjusting the range
    Recently Added:
Match the rule "Date Added">"is in the last">"1">"Days" make the days and the interval to suit yourself, you can have days, weeks or months.
    Top 25 Played:
Uncheck the "Match the following rule" box
Then check "Limit to">"25">"Songs">selected by "Most often played"
    Recently Played:
Uncheck the "Match the following rule" box
Then check "Limit to">"25">"Songs">selected by "Most recently played" make the "limit to" to suit yourself.
    Top Rated:
Match the rule "My Rating">"is">"5 Stars" You can make that as many stars as you like from 1 to 5. Or you can make your rule "My Rating">"is greater than">"3 Stars" for example.
    Video:
Match the rule "Video Kind">"Is">"Music Video" You can also have Movie or TV Show
For all of these also check the box "Live Updating"
If your purchases are definitely gone and if you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on any of the links on this page you'll find a space at the bottom to email your query: iTMS Customer Service
If you have an iPod, the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

  • Losing itunes previously purchased because of reinstall of windows xp

I have only maintained one itunes library; however, on two occassions, I have had to reinstall the operating system and itunes. Now I have songs on my ipod which I cannot return to my library, because itunes repeatedly gives me a message that my ipod is synced with another library. Again, I have never had another library. So, even though I paid for certain songs from the Itunes store, itunes is telling me that I must erase all songs on my ipod in order to update and sync. This means I will lose some of the previously purchased songs. Curiously, most of the songs previously purchased are still there and are contained in my library following the reinstallation of itunes.
I am also frustrated because there is no itunes support. Its anti-theft software is so strident that it makes the software cumbersome. I am thinking about returning to Mp3's and might purchase a Zune--even though I despise Microsoft. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Here's how to get music back off your iPod. If it's an authorization issue, then this probably won't help much!
From another thread, try this post by Jeff Bryan:
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
    BACK TO ME:
If you have iTunes 7.0 or higher you should be able to transfer your purchased music on an iPod back to your computer. Try this advice from Apple:
Use your iPod and iTunes 7
With iTunes 7 you can transfer iTunes Store purchases that are synced with your iPod to any authorized computer. Let's say from your home to your work computer. Here are the steps to "reverse sync" purchases from your iPod.
Make sure that you are using the latest version of iTunes 7 and iPod software.
Authorize your computer by choosing Authorize Computer from the Store menu in iTunes.
Attach your iPod to the computer that contains purchases.
From the File menu, choose Transfer Purchases from iPod.

i purchased the play two tickets feature for one of the bingo apps the other day for $.99 but it never downloaded and i was still charged for it. Does anybody know how to either find missing purchases from the app store or just fix it in general? If you could help me, that would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Missing Purchases/Digital Copies - HELP

    Hi,
I recently noticed that I was missing about 20 or so out of over a hundred digital copies in my itunes account. These are a mix of Itunes store purchases and movies added via digital copy from a blu ray purchase. I regularly stream these on my Apple TV and use to redownload to my ipad and iphone. I contacted support and they basically told me that i wasnt entitled to them and should have them backed up. Some of these movies were newer and some have been in there since apple started adding movies to the cloud.  Wasnt the purpose of apple added these all to the cloud was for the purpose of streaming and redownloading content you already own? Has anyone had this issue? Suggestions?

    Hi MBlevins
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. If you are having issues with getting content to the iPod Touch, I would check the resolution for the movies. High Definition movies are only compatible with iPod Touch 4th Generation and later.
iTunes: Sync purchased HD videos to iPod or iOS device

There is another way you can get those movies to the iPod Touch as well. You can download directly from the iPod Touch.

  • Missing Purchased TV shows

We are missing several TV series & individual episodes from our iTunes that we purchased via iTunes in the cloud. We still have access to some TV purchases but not to everything which we have bought.
We are unable to see the missing TV shows on any of our devices - PC, iPad, iPhone or Apple TV 2. Most of the purchases were made via either Apple TV or IPad.
This has been going on for a month and we have been in contact with iCloud support who told us to contact iTunes support. We contacted iTunes support but their response was a cut & paste from the support page - effectively suggesting to reboot the Apple TV which we already have done numerous times.
Having searched on the web, we have found that there has been other cases of this happening but I have not yet come across a satisfactory response from Apple.
Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone found a solution? Has anyone else had the same dis satisfactory response from Apple Support?
This is very frustrating as the lost content represents hundreds of dollars.

    Hi Everyone
After a month of going between iCloud & iTunes support on this - where we even were even at the point that iTunes attempted to restore our purchases but it still wasn't restoring all missing purchased episodes & those that were restored weren't appearing on all devices, we found the answer to our problem... And I bet it will solve your problem.
Log into our iTunes from your computer
Go to the store via iTunes (this worked on iTunes 11)
    Click on your account
Under your account, there is an option for "Hidden Purchases" - click on this
Under each media tab it tells you what purchases have been selected to be hidden
Choose the media where you have purchase missing - for us it was TV Shows
Choose the individual episode / series / item
There will be an option to unhide - click on this button for each item
We found for iPad / iPhone we could see most of why was lost. On Apple TV 2, we had to reset / restore
This actually fixed our problem - I should point out that at no point did we select for any of our purchases to be "hidden" in the cloud and I would say this is a bug in iTunes / iCloud that Apple needs to address. I also think that an option for hidden purchases makes no sense for the majority of iTunes / iClouds users.
Hope this fix works for you - Cheers.

  • I have one apple ID for multiple devices in my family.  I'd like to keep it that way for itunes/app purchases.  I would like a simple step 1, step 2, step 3 response on what I need to do to separate all other features like imessage, contacts, emails, etc.

I have one apple ID for multiple devices in my family.  I'd like to keep it that way for itunes/app purchases.  I would like a simple step 1, step 2, step 3 response on what I need to do to separate all other features like imessage, contacts, emails, etc.
I have been reasearching how to do this on the internet, but I haven't found an easy explanation yet.  My family is going crazy over each others imessages being sent to others in the family and not being able to use FaceTime because of conflicting email addresses.  I have read that if each person gets their own iCloud account, this would work.  However, I need to know what to do after I set everyone up with their own iCloud account.  Do I make that the default email address to be contacted or can they still use their hotmail email addresses.  Any help- with easy explanation- would be much appreciated!!

We do this in my family now.  We have one account for purchases, so it is used to share music and apps (I think that is in Settings/iTunes & App Stores).  Each iDevice has this configured.
Then, each of us has our own iCloud account that is configured under Settings/iCloud.  That then allows us to have our own Mail/Contacts/Calendars/Reminders/Safari Bookmarks/Notes/Passbook/Photo Stream/Documents & Data/Find My iPhone/and Backup.  That Backup piece is pretty sweet and comes in handly if you replace your iDevice.  You can just restore from it.
So we all share the Apple Store account but we all have our own iCloud accounts to keep the rest seperate or things like you mentioned are a nightmare.
In answer to what iCloud does for you: http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/
Think of it as an internet based ("cloud") area for all of those items listed in my response.  What you need to remember is photo stream only maintans the last 1000 pictures so don't count it as a complete backup solution for your pictures.  Even though I rarely sync with a computer these days, I do still try to sync my phone with iPhoto (I have an iMac) so that I have copies of all of my pictures.  1000 may not stretch as far as it sounds.

Want to separate contacts, messages, mail, etc. I cannot change iCloud address on 4s iPhone. Also, when I tried to change iMessage I got a message that if I deleted my id (which seemed to be the only way to get my husband's I'd there), I would not be able to receive iMessages on any device.
Would someone kindly tell me how to set up th 4s for my husband so that we can keep our info separate? It would be most appreciated! Thanks!!

    Hey Fagen!
You will want to see the following article for guidance on achieving the result you wish to achieve:
What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5661
I would just follow the instructions from this article to give your unused 4s to your spouse. Since you have already started using your 5s, you will still be receiving iMessages on that phone and will have no need to receive them on a device that has been replaced. Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!
