Reinstallation of Windows 8

I have bought "Windows 8"  1 year and a half ago. Of course, I have my product key. For reasons I do not summarize in this first message, I have installed Ubuntu and I don't have Windows anymore. I would like to reinstall it now but I don't
have any cd (I have only the product key). Does exist a method to reinstall it without spending other money?

They are saying that Windows 8 should be installed first because of the bootloader.
So, in any way, you would have a hard time getting it right.
The best solution would be to wipe out Ubuntu, install Windows 8/8.1 and then, if you want, install Ubuntu.
This way you'll have two freshly installed operating systems on a PC.
here are some links where you can read a little bit about it. it is really well explained, guys had put a lot of effort:
Installing Ubuntu on preinstalled Windows 8 machine
Install Ubuntu after Windows 8

  • Reinstallation CD Windows XP

Hello, I just bought my macbook pro and got it in the mail a couple days ago. I want to run bootcamp but im not very familiar with it. Can I use a reinstallation cd of microsoft xp to put on my macbook pro through bootcamp?

    Hi,
yeah, no way to use that CD. It is bound to only use with that Dell.
I'm from Germany, so sorry I am not familiar with places outside it for buying XP.
I would suspect that 'the usual suspects' should still offer Windows XP.
Avoid any kind of 'Upgrade' discs, they don't work.
Try to find OEM versions as they are substantially cheaper than the Full versions without lacking any features compared to them.

  • Error copying file when reinstalling Windows

I saw where someone had posted a similar question, but saw no answers. Anyway, IBM sent me a set of recovery disks and a new hard drive (unit it still under warranty) and when I try to reinstall using the recovery disks provided, it stops during disk 2 of 6. The progress bar stops just short of the end of it, and the total progress bar stops about 1/3 of the way through. I used an identical set to reinstall the operating system (IBM sent me two hard drives and two sets of recovery disks, one for each unit) on an identical machine and had the same problem. I received this error message each time in a "recov32" window that popped up:
    An error copying file D:\RECOVERY\CM2ZCUS.002
ERROR 23: DATA ERROR (CYCLIC REDUNDANCY CHECK).
What does this mean and how can I resolve it? When I hit "OK", it goes on to ask for disk 3 of 6, and so on.
And while attempting the installation on both systems, it asked for a supplemental product recovery disk (the disk says product recovery supplemental disk) just prior to insertion of disk 1 of 6.....I put that disk in the drive and scant seconds later., then iit asks for it again after disk 6 of 6 has been installed.  Is that normal? Then when it tells me to power up again, I can't do it using the restart button on that page.....the window is not responsive and i have to it shut it down buy manually pressing the on button. Appears to repeat the installation all over again.
At any rate, both installations have not been successful in restoring Windows XP Professional on these machines, and I'm in dire need of a solution!!

Sorry about the caps....didn't realize it'd be difficult to read.
Anyway, regarding the possibility of scratched/damaged setup disks......I have two sets, one for each laptop, and both give me the error when I try to reinstall. Seems pretty coincidental that both sets would be damaged, unless IBM makes it a habit to send out faulty software. But I tried again, got the same error when Disk 2 was installing....I went ahead and clicked OK, it asked for the third disk and darned if it popped up with the same error, but with a different file (BKD047A.IMZ). However, I'm continuing the installation in spite of the errors, but don't hold out much hope that it will be successful. If it isn't, I'll try a set of XP Pro boot disks. If that fails, I'll try an installation CD for another laptop. After that, I don't know, unless I call IBM again and have them send me replacements for the two sets of disks. Unless anyone else has another idea??

  • Screen Resolution trouble on Toshiba Satellite l775-s7307after reinstallation of Windows 7

I was having troubles. Had browser malware that couldn't be contained, and I had other issues, such as, getting the blue screen of death on a regular basis.....I wiped the HD, and reinstalled Windows 7-32 bit, and downloaded and installed all the drivers for this model from the Toshiba website, but I seem to be struggling with readjusting my screen resolution to where it should be....It won't set any higher than 1024 x 768.
    Any ideas?

In the future, I'd recommend performing a system recovery rather than reinstalling a clean copy of Windows. A system recovery will include all applicable software.

"Is a Win 7 32 virtual client an option?"
    What VC are you using?
I use VMWare Player (free) and use it to create virtual clients as needed.  Typically the virtual clients are "clean installs" from ISOs.  VMWare has it so well mechanized that there's not much to it.
It's pretty quick and easy to install Player and give it a try.  Another advantage to that approach is that there's only a single OS at the top level and backups can capture the whole mess w/out having to deal with 2 or 3 different OSs and their partitions.

  • Upgrade from M58p to M90p - without reinstalling Windows? sysprep?

    Hi,
I have a M58p which currently has Windows 8.1 installed. I have the opportunity to upgrade to a M90p but I dont wish to go through the hassle of re-installing Windows and Office plus other applications.
I have read on a few sites that I may be able to just take the HDD from one PC and plug into another and Windows will most likely install the new drivers and work away. A few have mentioned running "sysprep /generalize / shutdown" to reset the installation to a vanilla i.e. remove drivers etc before making the move.
Has anyone here done something similar to the above and did it go OK? Any issues worth noting?  Does the sysprep help?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Update just in case it helps others.
I tried sysprep /generalise /shutdown which started the sysprep tool but it reported after while that it could not complete the process and aborted.
I decided to shutdown and proceed regardless.
Swapped the HDD from the M58p to the M90p and it several minutes to complete the boot up and initialisation process before I got the Windows login screen.
Logged in and everything seemed ok - all drivers were installed correctly etc and pc has been running fine.
So, it looks like Windows 8.1 is pretty good at updating drivers etc after a motherboard upgrade - assuming not too much changes between the motherboards.

  • Problems after reinstalling windows 7

my hard drive failed and i installed a new one and ordered the recovery discs. I finally finished the install and after windows finally loaded the Toshiba configuration thing came up and after finishing it said it was restarting. When it restarted it wouldnt do anything but it had some lines on the screen. I think its graphic card drivers but nothing is working and toshiba wants a crazy amount of money for tech support. I need some help.

This part is consistent with failed video hardware. You are using the vga driver when in Safe Mode.

  • Reinstalling WIndows 7 64

    Hi all.
Redoing a friends Toshiba Satellite A660 which CAME with Windows 7 Home 64bit, but he never did a recovery cd. He got infected with a virus bad- tried doing a F8 repair disk install and such, but it was pooched from the virus. So I backed up things to a USB thumb drive and went on to reformat his drive.
I used my Windows 7 Home 64bit and used his license key sticker on the bottom of his laptop and reformatted the laptop as a clean install (reformat).
Went fine, Windows 7 installing, and then when it goes to the (2nd?) reboot about name, network, etc...the computer hangs, unable to proceed. Tried reinstall without a key as well and same thing, hangs and BSOD's.
Even changed RAM, but same thing.
    #$&@$%!!!
I wanted to get his system up and running for Christmas, so I put my Vista Business on it. Loads fine, reboots, fine, works fine...but want to get it to his Win7Home.
So I try to do a UPGRADE from within Vista Home to Windows 7 Home.
Again, Windows Vista starts installation, does the installation, and Windows 7 reboots. On the second/final reboot it says Windows 7 cannot be installed and reverts back to Vista.
So I'm sitting at Vista and trying to figure how to upgrade to Windows 7 for him.

This site is for US computers. As CB says, everything for that Canadian model is here.
Best to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery discs. That restores 64-bit Windows 7. All the drivers and utilities are properly preinstalled. Windows is preactivated.
Since the recovery discs were not created, you should obtain them by calling 800-663-0378.
See the section Restoring the pre-installed software from your created Recovery Media on p. 1-16 of the User's Manual (attached).

  • Reinstalled Windows 7 home from Windows 8 now touch screen keeps droping (not working)

Had to reload windows 7 home on my TM2 2151nr.  Touch screen worked but had to install updates to get the wireless to work. After updates installed touch screen and wireless worked. Got up this am and now the touch screen is no longer working.  Check and no other update had been installed had the update option turned off after both the wireless and touch had been working.
I have been trying to get the touchscreen to continue to work after having to install updates for the wireless updates.  Reloaded windows not 3 times, but each time the touchscreen function stops working.
    What next?

Here are the factory specs for your HP TouchSmart tm2-2151nr Notebook Computer.According to the specs, this model shipped from the factory with Windows bit installed and a means to create your own set of "HP Recovery Discs". Provided you created these discs and used them to return the computer to a "factory like state", all drivers and software should be automatically installed.
    If, however, you are using a standard Windows 7 installation disc, you will need to load all drivers yourself. Most HP provides drivers for this model should be located on the HP TouchSmart tm2-2151nr Notebook PC Drivers page. If you are unable to locate some drivers please post the Windows Device Manager's "Hardware Ids" for any missing or unknown devices as shown in the example below;

  • Oracle9i reinstallation on Windows XP Pro

    Hello,
I am having a problem of re-installing Oracle9i on my PC running WinXP Pro. Using the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI), at the Installation Types step, I select the Enterprise Edition and then the progress bar appear up to 31% then the OUI drop out, without any other message!
I am not sure how I removed the old Oracle (same version) but I did follow the Oracle preinstallation guide to check for the old directory, registry entries, environment vars, etc. The only thing I notice is the existence of this old directory:
    C:\oracle\ora92\inventory\Components21\oracle.java.ojsp\1.1.3.1.0
which somehow contains the file named "context*xml". This file (hence the entire directory) cannot be deleted because of the invalid character "*". Does this have anything to do with the failed installatation? If so, how can I get rid of it (other than reformat my hard drive)?
I appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

    Hi all
