Reinstallation Problem PCI-1200

In troubleshooting a DAQ problem, I tried to reinstall the drivers for my PCI-1200 running on a Power Macintosh G3 running MAC OS. I followed the directions stated here and deleted all of the mentioned files. When I reinstalled the drivers, my card wasn't autodetected. When running the NI-DAQ Configuration utility, my card is no longer detected. What do I do? I noticed that the .llb files were not reinstalled again (#'s 5-8). Other than that I am stuck.
Your help is appreciated.

NI's website directions for uninstalling Ni-Daq 6.1.0:
* Delete the following:
1. NI DAQ Folder (ie the folder where you installed NI DAQ)
2. ystem Folder:Extensions:NI-DAQ
3. ystem Folder:Extensions:NI-DAQ Hardware Database
4. ystem FolderreferencesAQ Channel Wizard Preferences
5. :LabVIEW Folder:vi.libAQ:_daq301.llb
6. :LabVIEW Folder:vi.libAQ:dqchnutl.llb
7. :LabVIEW Folder:vi.libAQ:misc.llb
8. :LabVIEW Folder:vi.libAQ:zadvd.llb
* Note: If you remove the DAQ .llb files the NI DAQ installer will not install them again. They must
be present for NI DAQ to update them.
Uninstallation for NI DAQ 4.9.1 and earlier:
* Delete the following:
1. NI DAQ Folder(ie the folder where you installed NI DAQ)
2. ystem Folder:Control Panels:NI-DAQ
3. ystem Folder:Extensions:NI-DMA/DSP
4. ystem Folder:Extensions:NI-DAQ for LabVIEW (only for PowerPC)
5. :LabVIEW Folder:vi.libAQ:_daq301.llb
6. :LabVIEW Folder:vi.libAQ:dqchnutl.llb
7. :LabVIEW Folder:vi.libAQ:misc.llb
8. :LabVIEW Folder:vi.libAQ:zadvd.llb
* Note: If you remove the DAQ .llb files the NI DAQ installer will not install them again. They must
be present for NI DAQ to update them.

You will have to reinstall LabVIEW and its DAQ support to reinstall the DAQ LLBs. You may then have to rerun the DAQ installer to update these LLBs, depending on which version of LabVIEW you installed. The details are in the NI-DAQ for Mac OS Read Me. Regardless, not having these LLBs installed should not prevent the NI-DAQ Configuration Utility from recognizing your device.
What version of Mac OS are you running?
What version of NI-DAQ for Mac OS are you installing? The latest version is NI-DAQ 6.6.1 for Mac OS.
Please ensure that the following files are installed:
System Folder : Extensions : NI-DAQ
System Folder : Extensions : NI-DAQ Hardware Database
System Folder : Extensions : NI-PAL
Try deleting the System Folder : Preferences : National Instruments folder and relaunching the NI-DAQ Configuration Utility.
What was the original problem that you were troubleshooting?
Thanks!

    Hello,
    I've found the problem
    The PCI1200 has a chip 8255 for Digital I/O
If I use the bad VI, it reconfigures the port and all the lines go in a low logic state
so I'd to write only on the port or the line without reconfigure the port
So the good VI in the palett is: Port Write and not Digital Port write!
    See attached file..
    Thanks

  • Mac G4 crashes using continuous generation with PCI-1200 DAQ card

I've been trying to use a PCI-1200 DAQ card with a Mac G4 to create a continuous analog output signal. The problem is that the computer locks up after a while (a few minutes). I have been using the Generate Continuous Sine Wave vi, but the problem remains.
I've tried slow signals (10Hz) and fast signals (2kHz) but the computer still seems to crash. I have no clue what is going on!

    bissdp,
The first thing I would recommend is making sure you have the latest version of the driver:
www.ni.com > Support > Drivers and Updates > Current Versions > Multifunction DAQ
Another you could try is to determine what component is causing the computer to lock up. Use a process explorer utility to try to see what processes are locked up. A search in google might turn up utilities like this one: (http://www.clarkwoodsoftware.com/peekaboo/)
Keep in mind heat or speed issues. It may sound funny, but you may want to try opening the computer case and making sure the board has enough air flow to keep it cool.
These are just some ideas for now, I hope they help.

  • Win 98 forgets PCI-1200 config on reboot

Problem: When Windows 98 reboots, it seems to forget the configuration of
our PCI-1200 board - it looks to be OK in NIDA and device manager, but when
I run the test panes, I get the message 'The device is not responding to
the selected base adress' or similar. In some cases Windows crashes when
I try to launch the Test Panels (NI-daq 6.5). Deleting the PCI-1200 board
from the device manager and reinstallign it solves the problem - until the
    PC is rebooted next time.
AT first I thougt it was a defective board, but we have seen similar behaviour
with other examples. Has anybody any idea what's wrog? A solution?

  • Multi-port, bi direction DIO on older PCI-1200 card

Hopefully this is a simple request. I simply want to designate one of the (3) ports on a PCI-1200 card as an output port, and another as an input port. I seem to be able to do one or the other, but cannot initialize both. I'm attempting to run the dio_config to get (2) task id's. I'm beginning to think this isn't the correct approach. However, I haven't come across any examples where more than one port is initialized; one for output, one for input. Help!
    Thanks,
    -C

    Hello C,
The problem you are having is probably due to the fact that when you configure one port, it resets the other. Im attaching an example that shows how to configure all three ports without having them reset each other. The example sets them all the write, but should work when one is set to read.
If none of these suggestions help, or if Im not correctly understanding your issue, please post the software and versions you are using, the applicable portions of your code, and any other information that may help, and Ill be happy to look further into it.
Please let me know if this example doesnt work for you, and have a nice day!

  • Can I use a DAQ PCI-1200 with Labview 5.0.1?

I have a Labview 5.0.1 software, and I want to use PCI-1200 with it. Can I do that? My OS is Windows XP, but I can change it with Windows98/2000.

    Hello jhylee,
The latest NI-DAQ driver for the PCI-1200 is 6.9.3, which is compatible with LabVIEW 5.0.1. LabVIEW 5.0.1 supports Windows 2000, but not Windows XP (although it may still run).

  • LIGHTROOM 3.3 REINSTALLATION PROBLEM

Hi, LIGHTROOM 3.3 REINSTALLATION PROBLEM. I had an operating system problem with my pc. A friend took an image of my disc. I have the computer running again now but I dont have any of my Loghtroom edits. I was advised to get a .lrc (or something) file but that only had a copy of the very first backup that I did. I didn't backup using the Lightroom backup that pops up when closing te program. How can I retrieve all my edits, it amounts to many, many hundreds of hours work? I'd be very greatful of some help.

Thanks guys. I cant even find the disc image file so I am going to have to wait till me mate gets back from overseas to do any more.
I still have my image files but I am really worried about the edits. That is a heap of work. and I have sold heaps of images, I'm screwed if I get asked for a second copy, or anything for that matter.
My email address is [email protected] do you mind if I contact you directly? John is not due bak in OZ for a few weeks yet, then he's going to Japan for a couple of months.

  • Is it possible to install a BNC-2120 to a PCI-1200

SH6850, SC5068 and D6850 (cables for 50-68 pins adapters) do not have the PCI-1200 pinout. Is there any adapters to interface a PCI-1200 to a BNC-2120?

    Hello;
Unfortunately, the BNC-2120 is meant to be conneted to E-series DAQ devices only. It won't work with the 1200 series.

  • To access Kistler Dynamometer Amplifier (4 component) do I need to use PCI 4452 and PCI 1200 ( I have both of them) with DAQ/LAbview.

If yes How to relate them together both in VI and by Hardware.
    Thanks,
    Niraj

    "Thanks for your attention,
I have Dynamometer with four analog outputs to respective amplifier's,all of which I have to connect to NI's BNC 2140, which will be connected to PCI 4452, now I even have PCi 1200 which is also a DAQ card I suppose. I want to know whether I need to connect both of these together in anyway, and ultimatly will they appear on single VI together or seperatly. Like I have developed single VI for both, but Is it possible to Develop VI with access to both.
Also is it necesary to use both, I want to know whether my application will be handled by PCI 4452 alone,
I suppose I am clear this time about my application and things available with me.
please let me know if not,

  • PCI-1200 not recongnized in Labview 7.0

After upgrading the labview 7.0 to 6.1, my PCI-1200 cannot find a driver to use in Labview. It seems like the card is not supported by NI-DAQ 7.0. Is there a way I still can use the card in labview 7.0, like installing an older version of NI-DAQ along with the 7.0? Thanks!

    Hi Tim
The PCI-1200 is not supported by "Traditional NI-DAQ 7.0" or by "NI-DAQmx" (This drivers are installed with LV 7 when doing a default installation). In order to use your board, you've to uninstall the two mentioned driver and install NI-DAQ 6.9.x
You cannot use NI-DAQ 7.0.x and NI-DAQ 6.9.x on the same PC! Only one NI-DAQ version must be installed.

  • PCI-1200 counter function/connection

    Hi all,
If there's anybody out there that is
familar with the PCi-1200 please help me
    with this.
Somebody please clearify this for me,
    1)
    The counter function :
    ICTR_Read(devicenumber,ctr,count)
returns the counter (count) value to
the caller whenever there is a pulse to the CLK input pin , is this true?
    2)
What is the relation of the counter
value with the clock frequency or the
    pulse input?
    3)
If I leave the gate input not connected to anywhere, will it be consider
    always High?
That's all I can think of right now, if
you think there is anything else that I
should know please tell me also.

    Hi Tan,
First, use "status = DIG_Prt_Config (deviceNumber, port, mode, dir)" to configure
    the ports.
    Use these arguments:
devicenumber: as specified in the measurement and automation explorer
    port: 0 ( PA)
    mode: 0 (no handshaking)
    dir: 1 (standard output)
Then, call "status = DIG_Out_Prt (deviceNumber, port, pattern)", with
devicenumber: as specified in the measurement and automation explorer
    port: 0 ( PA)
    patt
    ern: 10000000 (binary)
See NI-Daq help index -> 1200 Series Device Function List ->DIG_Prt_Config
    / DIG_Out_Prt
    for more info.
In LabView:Tthe VI's will probably also be called something like"DIG_Prt_Config"
    and
"DIG_OUT_Prt". Enter these same arguments into the VI.
    Hope it helps,
    Walter

  • Would PCI-1200 card be usable for Mac G-5 with Mac OS X if I use DDK?

I am migrating from a old Power Mac with Mac OS 9 to
Mac G-5 with Mac OS X but still would like to keep the PCI-1200 perfectly working. Can use use DDK to make it work since NI-DAQ is not uptodate with Mac G-5 and OS X?

    Greetings,
According to the following KnowledgeBase, the PCI-1200 is not supported by the Measurement Hardware DDK.
KnowledgeBase: Measurement Hardware Driver Development Kit Frequently Asked Questions
Thus, you would need to use the PCI-1200's Register-Level Programmer Manual (link available below). If you want to use the Measurement Hardware DDK, you may want to consider replacing the PCI-1200 with an E Series device.

  • How do I configure ports for PCI-1200 using LabWindows/CVI?

I want to use 2 ports of the PCI-1200 DIO ports as oup ports. Whenever I write to a port using WriteToDigitalPort, the other port will be reset.
Shoud I congigure the ports at the beginning of the program? If so How do I do it?
    (LabWindows 5.5)

I would suggest using the lower level NI-DAQ functions instead of the Easy I/O functions. (You have a lot more flexablity this way.) To configure seperate ports use the function DIG_Prt_Config, then instead of using WriteToDigitalPort, use DIG_OutPort. Here is an example that writes to one port using these NI-DAQ functions. All you need to do to write to two ports is add two lines in; another DIG_Prt_Config and another DIG_Out_Port.
Good luck and let me know if this does not work for you.

  • Win98 forgets PCI-1200 config on reboot

After installing NIDAQ 6.9.3 then installing my PCI-1200 card the system works great. When I power down the computer and restart, I get the error "device is not responding to the base address" when I try to run a test panel in NI-MAX. Has anyone else run into this issue and is there a solution?
    p.s. It's a Win98SE system with Labview 5.1 installed.
    Thanks.

There are a couple of reasons that a device might fail this test.
Some times windows is not able to set up the appropriate resources. Try switching to a different slop in the machine.
It is possible for the device to be in an unsafe state that results in this failure as well. Open a new LabVIEW VI and place the Device Rest.vi on the diagram. Next, double click on the Device Reset.vi to open it up. Verify the device number is set to the correct value and run the VI. It should take about 5 to 10 seconds and the error status should still be 0. Now try running the Test Resources in the Properties page in MAX for the device or try running the test panel again.
When you upgraded to 6.9.3, did you remove the previous version of NI-DAQ first? This can cause
strange issues to come up, because it is possible to have parts of each version on the machine at one time. I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling NI-DAQ in this case and make sure you remove the device from the computer before uninstalling and reinstall the hardware after you have performed the reinstall.
    I hope this helps out,
    Joshua
