Reinstallation

I recently had my computer tuned up and afterwards, could not read PDF files. When trying, I got a screen that instructed me to remove all Adobe programs and reinstall them. I was successful deleting the programs, but could not get the download replacements to install. I had been using Adobe Acrobat Standard version 9.5.4, and also had Flash Player 11 plugin and activex, and Adobe Air 2.5..1.17730. Can you direct me on how to reload and install the software?
Thank you

  • Can't access any songs after reinstallation of iTunes

Not very good with computers or anything, so please be gentle.
I got stuck with the whole Version 5 bug and had to re-install my iTunes software in order to be able to use it. I got through that okay, but now I have another huge problem.
Every time I try to listen to one of the songs that I bought off at the music store before I had to reinstall iTunes, a message pops up saying that I'm not authorized to play that song on this computer (which seems impossible, as I downloaded the song on this computer in the first place, but you know, whatever). It tells me to log on in order to authorize the playing of the song and when I do, it redirects me to a screen in the Music Store that tells me to "please downoad version 5," which obviously I really do not want to do as that's what screwed up my iTunes in the first place. Then when I try to go back to the song to actually play it, thinking I must have authorized it by now, it tells me the song STILL isn't authorized.
I've tried this with more than one song and none of them work. I've also tried to use the music files I coped for back-up, just in case something went wrong during reinstallation, but those songs won't play either. I could redownload them all but that would be too much money for songs I already paid for in the first place.
Am I doing something wrong, or does Steve Jobs just hate me?
Pleeeeease help. I really, really want my music back. ;(\
Oh, and if it helps the problem any, my Ipod is a mini and my iTunes is version 4.6, I think. Not sure if that information is necessary but I thought I'd mention it anyway.
EDIT: Okay, I checked what Apple actually has to say about this whole authorization thing. IT says the problem is probably that I have too many computers authorized to play the song, but I know that absolutely cannot be the case, as I only use one computer with my iTunes.
Is there a way to check how many computer iTunes thinks the song is registered with? because maybe it thinks there's more then five when there's really only one.

You've probably already got things figured out by now, but since I just saw your post, and the same thing happened to me, I figured I'd tell you how I fixed it just in case. My instructions are kind of long, but I wrote them up for me this way in case it happens again.
    1.     If you just authorize again, like it asks you to do, you will probably use up 2 of the 5 authorizations that you’re allowed. (You’re only allowed to play your purchased music on 5 computers. If you get a 6th computer, you have to de-authorize one of the others. If you sell your computer, you should de-authorize it first while you still have access to it or you won’t be able to.)
    2.     Quit out of the error box, without authorizing.
    3.     Click on ‘Music Store’ in your Source column.
    4.     Click once on your account name; under the eye, to the right of ‘Account.’
    5.     A box comes up asking you to enter your password for your apple id.
    6.     Enter your password, then click on ‘View Account’.
    7.     The screen that comes up will tell you how many computers you currently have authorized to play your purchased music.
    8.     If it says: “Computer Authorizations: One machine is authorized to play music purchased with this account”, then something is wrong because it obviously isn’t letting your one machine play music.
    9.     So, you need to go ahead and de-authorize your machine and reauthorize it to keep it from using up 2 authorizations.
    10.     Click on ‘Advanced’ on the top menu bar of Itunes, and then ‘De-authorize Computer…’.
    11.     Make sure the top radio button is selected, next to De-authorize Computer for Music Store Account.
    12.     Click ‘OK’.
    13.     Then go back and repeat steps 3-7, to look again to see how many computers you have authorized. It should now say ‘0’.
    14.     Then, try to play one of your songs that was purchased. You can always click on the ‘Purchased Music’ link in the ‘Source’ column to find all of your purchased music.
    15.     The same box will come up asking you to authorize your machine. Go ahead and do it now because now it will only cause one computer to be authorized.
    16.     You only have to do this on one of your purchased songs. All the rest of the purchased music will work after that.

  • Windows Vista reinstallation disks for my 7387 A11 whose hard drive died

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.  Just over three years ago I bought a Lenovo 3000 J Series, model 7387 A11.  Last weekend my hard drive began failing to the point that it wouldn't let the machine boot.  So I bought a new PC and hooked up the failing hard drive to it as a secondary drive.  With much coaxing and rebooting I managed to copy all the files on the main partition of the failing hard drive to my new PC's primary hard drive.  Yea!
But now I've bought a new hard drive to replace the failed one in Lenovo machine, and am stuck at the stage of getting the machine to recognize the new hard drive, since it has no operating system.
I read on one of these threads that one option would be to call Lenovo and ask for reinstallation disks for the Windows Vista operating system.  So I called the phone number, but the message there says that since I'm out of warranty I should try to get help on the Lenovo website.  So here I am.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks,

  • Windows Vista reinstallation messed up hard drive partitions

I reinstalled Windows Vista (using the Recovery and Applications/Drivers disk) on a family member's Satellite A135-4477 laptop. However, before the reinstallation, when I went into My computer, it showed one hard drive as around 180 GB, and a smaller one (I guess its used by the system or something?). According to Google, this computer has 2 hard drives, one is 80 GB and one is 100 GB. After the reinstallation, it shows these 2 hard drives separately at roughly the sizes desribed above. I tried to use the Windows Disk Management menu (in he control panel) to combine them, but that failed. I then tried again using the command line Diskpart command, but it gave an error that it couldn't merge partitions from separate disks. So is there any way to combine them back into one volume, the way they were shown before? If not, is there a way reinstall Vista again, but tell it to install on the 100 GB drive (It's currently on the 80 GB one)

  • Read-only filesystem after reinstallation,chmod failure

I decided to switch to a pure systemd init yesterday. Despite strictly followed wiki my system failed to init with switch to systemd emergency mode with no way to cure the problem. So I followed with reinstallation of my system (32bit on 64bit HW as recently). I went thoroughly according installation wiki, installed and configured the base system and correctly umount-ed chrooted environment. I have reformated primary root and boot partitions with ext4 and ext2 respectively and extended /var partition with reiserfs. My home ext4 partition has left unchanged. Grub has been configured OK when being compared with my two Thinkapd Arch installations. My fstab is correctly set using UUID and explicit rw option. After rebooting from Install CD all seemed going well to login prompt and successfull root login. Next proceedings failed on unchangeble read-only filesystem permissions.
How can I chmod the partitions to make them writable and add users and use pacman? One fail with systemd is followed with another one with unchangable read-only permissions... Courious and very frustrating... Any help, please? Thanks, Petr

  • Portege 3440CT Reinstallation of OS and NTLDR Error

    Hi all,
I have an Portege 3400 that I picked up a few years ago when starting a business. The machine was put through a lot and it won't boot anymore. I want to reinstall the OS - the only catch is I don't have the original CD Rom drive that came with the unit. I have a portable CD drive that I can plug into the USB adaptor port, but when picking a boot device it doesn't even try to look for the CD drive and immediately gives me a NTLDR error.
The only option for boot device that doesn't give me that same error is when I pick Network (Lan) but I have no idea how to set up my LAN so I can use it as the source for the reinstallation of the OS.
    Can anyone help me?

  • Can't find home drive after reinstallation of O.S.X

    Dear friends,
I have one ibook G4 and a Macbook Pro. Two days ago, the ibook G4 failed to start up, I tried in safe mode then pass through. Then I run Onyx-automation followed by restart, after that neither my desktop nor the sidebar of the finder window show the home drive icons,( I partitioned the internal hard disk into two drives). But when I run Disk utility and found both are there correctly, including the files and capacity, usage etc. it tested both drives "appears OK". Yesterday, I tried to reinstall O.S.X Tiger 10.4 without removing previous system via a firewire to my Macbook Pro which installed with Leopard( the disc drive of my ibookG4 corrupted last year).
finally, the hard drives are still invisible, I did tick the display options for hard disks from the preference panel of Finder. To the worse, the same problem happened to my Macbook Pro after I restarted it.
It seems a simply software issue, physically the hard disks are ok through the disk verify and permission verify.
    Headache! Please advise ASAP.
    thank you,

what happens when you enter commandshiftc in finder? that should show all the drives. if it doesn't, maybe the drive has acquired the hidden flag. run the following command in terminal
    sudo chflags 0 /
you'll have to enter your admin password which you won't see as you type it. that's normal. see if the drive shows up.

    hi, V.K.
after running the two commands, suddenly, The Macintosh HD icon showed up at both desktop and sidebar in finder, but the other drive (I partition into two parts) still not showing. Then I open Onyx and tick the "unhidden those hidden files", I found that drive. So I conclude it was hidden by sth. But I don't know how to unhidden it, the icon always in grey.
    Can you please instruct again.

aha, so it was a hidden flag after all. then run
    sudo chflags 0 /volumes/*
you may need to restart after that to make the second drive show up.

I don't have a source attribute for this (maybe I wrote it myself!):
There are visibility toggling instructions at [this web site|http://www.pinkmutant.com/articles/invisible.html] using Terminal or Applescript.
If you don't like Applescript or Terminal there is an application called [JuhOS X|http://www.saunalahti.fi/~juhruo/juhosx> that lets you toggle visibility on individual items. It does not have the most intuitive interface but your drive should appear on the first page. Check it really is invisible, then click on the drive and toggle visibility. Effects will not take place until you restart your finder, so the easiest thing to do then will be to restart your computer.

  • IMovie was lost in reinstallation of Mac mini late 2012 OS X Mavericks

    Hello everyone!
So I reinstalled OS X Mavericks on my Mac mini yesterday, and I even made a copy (?) of everything with Time-Machine.
Before the installation my external hard disk was being stupid and only showed me the Time-Machine copy of my MacBook Air and not the one I needed..
That made me reinstall OS X Mavericks because there is no other option, but when I started my Mac mini 'for the first time' (after the reinstallation) I saw iMovie and iPhoto where missing, so I went to the App Store and searched for iMovie first. It just gave me the iMovie page but instead of showing a download button it showed me a button that said 'Accept', so I clicked that and then a pop-up said 'Log in with your Apple-ID to accept all available apps'. I did that but nothing happened? So I went to the Apple iMovie site and opened the App Store via the button 'iMovie -> Open in App Store (to download)' and again that 'Accept' button... The exact same thing happened with iPhoto. Now I'm stuck and I don't know what to do.. I need iMovie tomorrow for an English project which I have to start all over again because my Time-Machine save/copy was gone...
    Please help me!

Had the same problem with iPhoto and iMovie. Try going to the purchases tab in the app store. You should see them there with an install button beside it. Go ahead and click and it should start installing.
