Reinstalled iCal will not start

Question

Hello,
I was having problems adding new events and deleting some old calendars in iCal so like an idiot I nuked it and reinstalled iCal(from the OSX DVD), figuring I can just resync from MobileMe. Now however I can't even start the program. I get the following error and when I click OK the program exits.
"The file could not be saved because you do not have appropriate access privileges.
To view or change access privileges, select the item in Finder and choose File > Get Info."
Any ideas? Thanks!
P.S. I have run repair permissions. I also edited the permissions to include my account for read/write for all files in the package.

I suspect that editing the permissions in the package is the root of the current problem. I would not recommend changing the permissions in a package.
You should also refresh the iCal .plist file. Navigate to your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder, and find the com.apple.iCal.plist file. Drag that file to your Desktop, log out/in or restart and try to open iCal.
FWIW the permissions on my iCal Application package are:
system: Read & Write
admin: Read & Write
everyone: Read Only
The permissions for my Macintosh HD/Users/Library/Calendars Folder are:
username (Me): Read & Write
staff: Read only
everyone: Read only
Can you match the setting that I have listed?
It is my gut feeling that iCal will work in another user account. Let us know what happens when you try iCal in another user account.
