Reinstalled OS, now iPhone won't sync with iTunes library

Hi all,
I recently had to reinstall Tiger on my iMac G5 because Leopard kept crashing it. The iMac is where I have all of my photos and music (I use Leopard on my macbook but I don't have the media on there). When I try to sync my iPhone now, iTunes tells me that this iPhone is registered to a different library and if I want to sync it with this library, I need to erase everything on the iPhone. I do not wish to do this, so I have two questions...
1. Is it possible to back-up EVERYTHING (notes, web apps, photos not taken with the iphone camera, ringtones, etc) onto my computer so that I CAN do an erase and install?
2. Is there a way to get the library and the phone to recognize each other as having the same owner as they did before so I can just sync the two and not erase anything?

The recently installed os replaced the iphone settings in itunes so when you connect the iphone to the computer now, itunes has no record of it being previously connected.
So, the only way to sync it to the computer now is to let it erase and re-sync.

Is synching over wi-fi viable? I've never done it, but when I tried something similar back in the old Palm PDA days, it was S-L-O-W, slow as molasses. I realize that the i-device are far more modern with faster processors, but wondering whether it's even worth exploring doing this.

iPhone won't sync with iTunes. It just says, "waiting for sync to start." But no matter how long I leave it like that, it never syncs. Wirelessly or via USB. I have restarted both my computer and my phone. I have deleted and reinstalled iTunes. I have installed the latest version of iTunes and the software on my phone is up to date. Nothing seems to work.
Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

Did you check your secuirty software settings? iTuens needs to contact Apple during the sync process.

First off try and go into your IPhone manually through My Computer and cut photos or anything you can through the device to be able to free space up so that you can continue to do what you want to do with ITunes. This way you will be able to create a backup or do what you have to do to manage your information, photos and texts on your device a little better.

My iPad or iPhone will not sync with iTunes. I have googled it and none of those suggestions worked. I don't see the device listed in the sidebar or on the top. It doesn't recogonize the unit when I first plug it in as to what I want to do. I have shut it off and turned it back on but nothing happens. All the software is up to date.

If I plug my phone in before I open itunes, it says "verifying iphone" and itunes freezes up forcing me to close it.
If I plug my phone in after I open itunes, itunes recognizes the iphone with playlists in it, but will not sync anything. I bought this less than a week ago, and have re-installed itunes twice.

I'm not sure what happened, but iTunes won't sync with my iPhone 4 anymore at all. I changed my DNS server settings on my Mac and iPhone (because of stupid Comcast) and now I can't sync using wifi or usb. I reverted all my settings to how it was before and it still doesn't work. I'm all out of ideas and its starting to **** me off so any help at all would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)

Iphone won't sync with iTunes 10.6

After upgrading to iTunes 10.6 my iPhone won't sync, neither with wifi or usb. Thephone won't even show in iTunes, even if I connect it via cable. If I go to the setting on my phone I'm told that the sync will resume as soon as my computer is avalible.
Anyone know a solution for this problem?

My new iphone won't sync with itunes

I bought the iphone while on holiday in the US, promised by salesperson that the phone was unlocked. Back home in Australia, put my Virgin SIM into the phone. No service. Tried to sync with itunes, no go. Message says that SIM is not authorised. Does this mean that the sales person lied to get a sale? How can I get it unlocked if this is the case?
I have downloaded all the latest updates for iphone and itunes.

Apple began selling the iPhone as officially unlocked via their online store on June 14th and I assume the same was/is available via Apple's retail stores as well. This is not available via Apple's official retailers in the US such as at Best Buy, Walmart, and Radio Shack stores.
Doubtful if this mobile shop in NY is an official Apple retailer for the iPhone but regardless, they would not be selling the officially unlocked iPhone.
There is nothing indicating ATT anywhere on the retail sales box?
If it shows ATT as the carrier when selecting the phone icon - I'm not sure what this means since my iPhone does not show ATT when I select the Phone icon with my iPhone which is carrier locked with ATT, this obviously means you did not purchase an unlocked iPhone. If this iPhone is unlocked, it was hacked to be unlocked.
The Apple store there will not help. The iPhone's warranty is honored in the country where the iPhone was sold officially by Apple only.
Why didn't you purchase an iPhone in your country where it is sold as officially unlocked and where you would have Apple support and a warranty?

My iPhone won't sync with iTunes

Hi, I am looking for help asap!
I have had my iPhone now for about 9 months with no previous problems. All of my music is kept on an external hard drive but was put onto my iPhone originally with no problems. Everytime I went into iTunes I kept being prompted to run an update but never had the time to bother with it, until I did over Xmas and since then I have had huge problems.
Firstly the phone restored my contacts, photos, etc but not my music. When I now try to drag music across to my iPhone via iTunes the song is greyed out, and keeps saying it is updating but nothing happens. Similarly I cannot even add the song to my iTunes library, then onto my iPhone. When I plug in my iPhone, it also keeps saying that it is preparing to sync but nothing happens for a few minutes until an error message appears saying that sync has failed.
iTunes does however recognise when my iPhone is plugged into the computer via a USB.
I restored the phone to factory settings but this hasn't done anything, and now I have a phone with no contacts, etc and now it won't let me put back on my apps anymore either - meaning my phone is pretty much useless now.
Please can somebody help or shed some light on my problems and what I need to do to resolve it.

Hi, I have tried every possible tab I can see and still can't solve it. When I plug my iPhone into my old computer, it goes through 5 stages of syncing which I think is normal but on my new computer it just goes through 1 stage which takes about 5 seconds and doesn't update anything :-( Have booked into the Genius Bar at the Apple store to try and solve it but do you have any other ideas?

I haven't updated my iphone 4 since I bought it last year. My phone was plugged into the computer and sync'd into itunes. I got impatient and reset everything on my phone "erase all contects and settings" while the phone was plugged in. All of a sudden, my phone went black with the exception of the apple icon.
I now have my phone plugged into the computer, but itunes won't even recognize my phone, and my phone won't even turn on now!

You can sync music and video, or you can manually manage music and video. You can do one or the other, not both at the same time.
Were you syncing music and video, or manually managing music and video with iTunes on the computer you were previously using to transfer iTunes content from?
If syncing is selecting for your iPhone sync preferences, when changing to manually manage music and video, all iTunes content on the iPhone will be erased first. If manually manage music and video is selected for your iPhone sync preferences, when changing to syncing, all iTunes content on the iPhone will be erased first.
Regardless which you had selected for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes on the computer you are no longer using to transfer iTunes content from, you should have received a warning message that all iTunes content on your iPhone will be erased first when trying to transfer iTunes content to your iPhone from another computer.

HT1386 Iphone won't sync with Itunes

I have my Iphone hooked up to the computer via USB, and it shows the Iphone on Itunes, however, it is not giving me an opetion to sync the Iphone or to Transfer my purchases. It's also showing that 5.88 gigabites of my 8 gb Iphone 4 is used with the "Other" tab, leaving 313.8 mb left, which I know is incorrect because most of my storage on my Iphone is with music and other audio files. .

Make sure you have the Latest Version of iTunes Installed on your computer ( v 11.1)
