Reinstalled Windows, Firefox, how do I retrieve synced bookmarks?

I set up syncing and have a sync key. Now I've reinstalled Windows and Firefox4, but cannot see at all how to retrieve my synced data. When I go to sync, it only gives me the option of adding a new device or setting up a new account, neither of which is what I need to do.

# Press Alt+T
# Click on Options
# Go to Sync Panel
# Click on Connect
# You will see option "Do you already have Firefox Sync Account"
# Click on connect
# Enter your email id, password, sync key
# Now your sync account is set up.
# You will see that after a while, all your data will be retrieved automatically.

My computer crashed and I had to reinstall windows 7, how can I get the playlist on my iphone onto itunes?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
If for some reason you have failed to do this, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchass from the ipod. File>Devices>Transfer Purchases

  • In windows 8 how do you make the bookmarks column "flexible"? I used to be able to make it narrower.

Windows 8 how do you make the bookmarks column "flexible"?

Is the problem with the Bookmarks Sidebar -- the one you can open and close by pressing Ctrl+b? It does seem to have a minimum width and won't get narrower than that, but I'm not sure whether you are running into that limitation or whether for some reason you are not getting the resizing arrow when you mouse over the thin border between the sidebar and the page.

  • How can I retrieve my bookmarks from when I was using Internet Explorer

I did not select move Bookmarks etc. when I downloaded firefox today . Now I realize that was a mistake. Can I retrieve them or do I need to dump Firefox and re-load it?

You do not need to re-load Firefox. You can retrieve your bookmarks and other data from Internet Explorer by following the steps given in this article: [[Importing favorites and other data from Internet Explorer]].

  • After upgrading to Windows 7, how do I get the Bookmarks from Windows.old to my present version of Firefox?

I recently upgraded to Windows 7. I have found my Bookmarks in '''Windows.old''', but I can't seem to figure out how to get them into my present version of Firefox. I know this must be possible, so how can I do it?

You can copy the file places.sqlite to the profile folder on the new set up.
The file places.sqlite stores the Firefox bookmarks and the history, so you get both.<br />
If you need other data like passwords then copy those related files as well.

  • How do I retrieve lost Bookmark icons most of which disappeared when I updated to Firefox 8?

After I updated to Firefox 8 I noticed that more than half of the itemsin my bookmarks list had lost their icons which were replaced by a dotted line in the shape of a square. I tried to go back to using Firefox 7 using System Restore. The restore was successful except that Firefox could not be opened. So I undid the restore and this allows Firefox to open and all seems ok apart from the fact that the majority of the items in my Bookmark list have disappeared and have been replaced as described. Can anybody help?

Hi everyone. At issue is that FF8, obviously due to a coding bug, no longer is retrieving the favicon from the root of a website's www directory website in some situations. I tried starting FF8 with all add-ons disabled, just to verify that an add-on wasn't causing the issue. The add-on Check Places will restore the missing favicons, but the favicon will disappear as soon as you visit the bookmarked URL if the favicon was missing after you upgraded to FF8.
Hehe. I am not too thrilled with Mozilla's new rapid development cycle. FF8 is simply a tweaked version of FF7 and as such it should have been a 7X upgrade. But I guess Mozilla wants Firefox to get up to version 10000 before Chrome does. Silly.

  • Albums disappeared (Elements 11 under Windows 7) - how to search/retrieve?

Completely frustrated, started to rearrange my photos into Albums after the functionality to sort after file name was unexplainably abolished. After having arranged 5 albums over a number of days , all of them have disappeard after start of Elements - is there a system file where they might be hidden? This is extremely frustrating after going through this work due to a missing feature in the new version - now I'm not keen to restart the work from scratch until I understand why and whereto the albums have vanished without visible trace in Organizer. Any hint/help is greatly appreciated.
I am in Folder not Tree view, I have extended the album view (little arrow pointing downwards and I ran a catalogue repair / repair anyway.

    Thanks Jon,
Fair enough, that was my first thought, the question is actually for my father, we are living on different continents, and I'm trying to help him via screen sharing. He is 76 years young and not quite that computer savvy, but he actually checked this first.
I have trouble helping him as he is using Windows 7 with PSE11 and I'm using the latest versions of LR and Photoshop on Mac, at work we are still with Windows XP so I don't know my ways around very well in W7. I have trouble sussing out what W7 and PSE11 don't allow you to do in comparison to the programs I use - e.g. having a safety copy of your folder/pics on import and other things.
I had asked my father a lot of questions of what happened and what he did just before the loss became apparant, there was nothing unusual (e.g. crash of program or PC), so I think this was kind of a freak catalogue thing, I have now instructed my father to save the catalogue on every exit to avoid future frustrations.
    thanks for your considerations
    Claudia

  • Switching from MSN to firefox, how do I retrieve my favorite bookmarks? I haave tried the procedure outlined but I am not getting my favorite folders.

I have tried to import my Favorites from MSN (Internet Explorer) but I am not getting the bookmarks that I have available on MSN

Go to the "Convert bookmark file" web page at http://www.linkagogo.com/go/Convert?informat=msn&outformat=netscape to convert the MSN Explorer file '''favorites.xml''' ('''input''' format) into a "Netscape (also Mozilla and Firefox)" HTML file ('''output''' format) . (If you have problems locating the "favorites.xml" file on your computer, read the "MSN Explorer users" section of the web page and [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_foldersthis article].) After converting, use "File -> Save Page as" to save the output. You can then import the HTML file you just saved into your Mozilla browser using the "[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Import_bookmarks#From_file Import from file]" feature of the Bookmarks Manager (see above). You can alternately try the MSN Favorites Export Toolkit, available from http://www.mainsoft.fr/en/downloads.htm to convert the MSN Explorer file (favorites.xml) into a Netscape bookmarks file (bookmark.htm) which you can then import into your Mozilla browser (details [http://www.tutorials-win.com/IE/favourites-1835/ here]).

  • How can I partly sync bookmarks?

    Consider this case:
    - Private computers use Firefox Sync to syncronize my bookmarks.
    - Some of these links are interesting for my work computer, and some of the onces on my work computer are interesting for my private computer.
    - But I do not want all my private bookmarks on my work computer and some work bookmarks only make sense in the working environment.
How can I set up Sync to have a common bookmark set between private and work without have them synced all?

    HI FilipL,
Currently there is not an option to sync partial bookmarks on one account. However it might be a considered work around to create separate profiles that have some bookmarks and not the other.

  • How do you retrieve saved bookmarks off of Time Machine? I tried to do it the same way I retrieve Safari but it doesn't work

Recently my Mac 0S X 10.6.8 was reconfigured to the original settings and I lost all my Firefox bookmarks.
I was able to restore my Safari bookmarks from my harddrive and using the same method attempted to restore Firefox.
    That method didn't work.
My harddrive does seem to have a Firefox Bookmark folder - how can I restore these?

You can try to restore an older copy of the places.sqlite file.

  • I exported my bookmarks to do a clean install, but now my exported file is nothing but pages of text. How can i retrieve my bookmarks?

I backed up my firefox bookmars, and the file that came out of it is no specific file type. Even in the properties, it just says "File type: File".
So now i'm trying to restore my bookmarks, but I can't open that file. If i try opening the file itself with firefox or any other browser for that matter, I get long pages of text. It does contain my bookmarks, but it's really hard to read. What can i do to fix this?

    That is a JSON backup.<br />
You need to rename the file and add a .json (lowercase) file extension to make Firefox recognize the file as a JSON backup.
*Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Restore > Choose File
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Backing_up_and_restoring_bookmarks_-_Firefox
Note that restoring a JSON backup will replace all existing bookmarks.
