Reinstalling Acrobat 8 Pro from CS3 Design Premium, asking for Photoshop Elements 6 CD??

Hi.
I use a Macbook Pro with Leopard OS X version 10.5.8, 2.6 Ghz Intel Core Duo, $ GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
I use Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium which came with Acrobat 8 Professional. Now, for a while I've been having issues updating Acrobat because it said it had been modified blah blah and something about plugins being disabled, so to rectify reinstall and run updates. I've seen alot of people on forums with this same issue.
For a long time I ignored this as the program was still working, but today it urked me enough to unistall (which I did by dragging it from the applications to trash) and try to reinstall.
So I tried. Put the CD in, selected only Acrobat 8 Pro for reinstallation, all went well until it asked me to put in the Photoshop Element 6 CD.... which I never had. Although the program does come on the CD. So i'm left confused, without acrobat pro and wishing i had never uninstalled!
I hope this makes some sort of sense. Any help would be much appreciated!

I resorted to using the live chat feature that Adobe have on the website. We found that once everything was uninstalled and then just reinstalled Acrobat alone, I wasn't asked to insert the Photoshop Elements 6 CD to continue and everything was fine. No problems. But, when I tried to then reinstall the rest of the suite, it asked for the CD.
So, the way to avoid it asking for the CD was to uninstall CS3 Design Premium completely and then reinstall all the programs. And everything seems to be working fine.
Maybe this was an obvious solution, but I didn't want to risk uninstalling all the programs only to be asked for a non-existent CD when reinstalling.
Anyway, hopefully someone else will find this helpful.

  • I want to upgrade from cs3 design premium to cs6....how do i do that?

I want to upgrade from cs3 design premium to cs6....how do i do that?

You cannot. There is no upgrade path from CS3 to CS6 any more. That window closed a couple of years ago.
    Your options now:
Buy a full new version of CS6, or
    Join the Cloud

  • Can I upgrade from CS3 Design Premium to CS6 Design Standard?

I'm looking to upgrade my CS3 (and may need to as I'm upgrading my Mac OS X and not sure about compatibilty)... of course I know I can upgrade like for like, i.e. go from CS3 Design Premium to CS6 Design and Web Premium but I don't really need Dreamweaver and Flash so just wondering if I can upgrade to CS6 Design Standard?
Also, as I'm still relatively new to this arena and have never upgraded before... how does it work? Do I need to keep my CS3 software (i.e. disks) as well as the new software/disks? i.e. if for whatever reason I may need to re-install down the line...or can I get rid of the CS3 once I get the CS6?
    Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can do that. But you only have a few more weeks. You may want to look into Creative Cloud instead. You'll need the CS3 serial number to upgrade to CS6 but the CS3 apps do not necessarily need to be installed.

  • Flash application missing from CS3 Design Premium disk,OSX?

Does anyone know if the Flash application is missing from the CS3 Design Premium disk,OSX? I installed all the programs a while ago and never opened the Flash program. Now, when I do, I can't open the application.  There are other folders for Flash, but no application. It seems that it is missing.  I tried to reinstall it from the original disk, but the installation is interrupted by a message that asks that the Fireworks CS4 disk be inserted. I had downloaded a trial Fireworks CS4, but do not have a disk.  I uninstalled Fireworks ( according to adobe's instructions) and tried to install Flash again, but keep getting the same 'Fireworks CS4 disk be inserted' message.  Does anyone know anything about this?  Any help would be appreciated!

Yes, you unisntall the whole suite. It only uninstalls the programs, any user data and configuration is unaffected. If you wanan back it up, regardless, check your Users:You:Preferences:Adobe and Users:You:Documents folders and copy the stuff there toi a safe location.

  • Upgrading from CS3 Design Premium to Illustrator CS6 standalone

    Greetings,
I have Adobe CS3 Design Premium (I think-- it's one of the complete suites that includes Illustrator CS3). My license is an Education license. I also own Photoshop CS6 (standalone) with an Education license.
I'm wondering if i can purchase an upgrade to the standalone (not Creative Cloud) version of Illustrator CS6, at the Education price? If so what would the price be and how would I purchase it?
    Thanks.

    NorthOEK,
I am afraid the educational license of any kind is (still) outside any upgrade system.
You may try your luck on the download pages, or ask somewhere over there:

I have been looking at my error logs to try to see what my problem is and it only says the word error once at the bottom and I can't really tell what the error is for. It says successful on one line and then error on the next line. Is tehre anyone here that knows these logs well and can tell me what my problem is by reading my error logs?

  • Want to upgrade from CS3 [Design Premium] to CS5

    Hi,
Want to upgrade from Design Premium CS3 to CS5 and saw there's a difference in price from upgrading from CS4 & CS3. Dumb question: If I bought the CS5 upgrade, would I be able to install the suite or would it ask for the previous CS4 version? If it only asks for CS3 I would really save some $$$$$$.
    Can you help,
    Ellen

What do you mean, there is a difference between upgrading from CS3 and CS4? An upgrade is an upgrade, there is only one price for an upgrade.
In CS4 (and CS5) Adobe introduced tiered upgrade pricing for suites only.
    http://www.adobe.us/products/photoshop/photoshop/faq/
What is Adobe's tiered upgrade pricing policy?
Adobe's tiered upgrade pricing policy offers customers who upgrade at every release a lower upgrade price relative to customers who upgrade less frequently. This means that customers upgrading to Creative Suite 5 from Creative Suite 4 will pay a lower upgrade price compared to customers upgrading from an earlier version of Creative Suite.
Why does Adobe offer tiered upgrade pricing?
Customers who upgrade regularly have long requested better pricing compared to those who upgrade infrequently. Adobe introduced tiered upgrade pricing in 2008, with the launch of Creative Suite 4, to reward these customers.
Does tiered pricing also apply to individual Creative Suite components?
No. The tiered upgrade policy applies only to editions of Adobe Creative Suite and not to upgrades to individual components, such as After Effects, Flash Professional, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and so on. Customers can upgrade to the CS5 version of individual CS components from up to three versions back. The only exception is Adobe Premiere Pro; customers can upgrade to Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 from any earlier version of Adobe Premiere.

  • Upgrade from CS3 Design Premium to CS3.3

I downloaded the upgrade file and ran it, which de-installed Acrobat Pro 8 and installed Acrobat Pro 9. This went off without a hitch, so that's good. Is that it for the upgrade? I remember there being much more to do with the CS2.3 upgrade.

I don't understand why is it so difficult for some to find out what CS3.3 includes. When you click on the link to it from the main page you get an Adobe Store page which clearly states:
    "Combines Adobe InDesign® CS3, Photoshop® CS3 Extended, Illustrator® CS3, Flash® CS3 Professional, Dreamweaver® CS3, and new Acrobat 9 Pro, and also includes Adobe Bridge CS3, Version Cue® CS3, Device Central CS3, and now Fireworks CS3."
So what's the problem? All this information is very easily accesible and very clear.

  • Reinstall Acrobat X Pro from CS6 suite?

I already have Acrobat X Pro installed (I bought the program separately a while ago) and I just now purchased the CS6 suite (which comes with Acrobat X Pro). Do I install the CS6 suite without Acrobat, or do I uninstall the standalone Acrobat that's on my Macbook Pro and reinstall from the Acrobat that's on the DVD? Does it even make a difference? If I could leave the installed app in place without a problem, I'd much prefer that.
Most grateful if someone could let me know.
    Thanks in advance!

In terms of functionality it makes no difference, the programs are identical and you can leave the existing one installed.
The only situation where it would matter is if you want to move Acrobat onto another computer (separate from CS6) - you could deactivate the standalone copy and register it on the new machine, then use your CS6 license to install the bundled copy in its place.

  • Reinstall Acrobat 9 Pro from CS4

    Hello all.
I know this is to do with Adobe and not an Apple product
but the help messageboards at Adobe have been useless and I've had
good experiences with the help on here—so I hope someone can still
help, despite the misfiling of my issue.
Basically the version of Acrobat 9 which came with CS4 (iMac)
hasn't been able to update for a good while and upon researching
the reasons for this it looks like the best diagnostic is to reinstall.
But I need help understanding how to go about uninstalling and then
    re-installing from the CS discs?
Can this be done? Can you reinstall just the one program from the
    whole CS lot?
I've looked for help pages online but they have also been useless
    and just confusing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ben.

    Hi dlavin999,
The disk 2 usually is meant for Acrobat 9.  You can insert the disc and check for yourself.

  • Acrobat 9 wants licence - CS4 Design Premium license doesn't work?

I have CS4 Design Premium that I upgraded from CS3 Design Premium. It has been installed and all programs working for quite some time.
Recently I uninstalled CS3 and CS4 wanted the license re-entered. I found my CS4 box and entered that license number in, but it also wanted the CS3 number as the elegible upgrade. I couldn't find it.
Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Acrobat all of them kept asking for the license, so kept clicking past the dialog that said, I only had "x" days left. When it got to "0" days, I had to dig through the back room until I finally found CS3.
That made the entire suite work except for Acrobat. Acrobat seems to have a different activation than the rest of the suite, but it won't take my CS4 number.
    What can I do??

  • CS3 Design Premium won't install - Asking for CS4 disk 1

I own both CS3 Design Premium and CS4 Production Premium on my iMac with Snow Leopard. Mac OS X 10.5.8
I have all CS4 programs installed.  I only have Dreamweaver installed on CS3.
I need to use InDesign and tried to install from CS3 Design Premium disk.  After disk one runs for a short time, the program asks me to insert disk 1 from CS4 Production Premium.  After reading that disk, it asks to put CS3 disk 1 in.  These messages continue and I can't get anywhere.
Anything I can do?  Uninstall both programs and reinstall?
    Thanks

Inserting the disks over a dozen times a piece finished the installation.

  • What is the procedure to reinstall Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro from the CS4 Design Premium discs?

I have uninstalled Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro from my hard drive but I'm not sure which disc to use to reinstall.  The CS4 discs are marked "Application 1," "Application 2," "Content," and "Learning Adobe Creative Suite 4."  I'm on a three year old Imac running Mac OSX 10.6.8.

    Hi dlavin999,
The disk 2 usually is meant for Acrobat 9.  You can insert the disc and check for yourself.
