  • Reinstall Acrobat 8 Professional, Macintosh

    Acrobat 8 Professional, Macintosh
I have my license and I need to reintall due to a hard drive failaure. (I am reinstalling all my software.)
I can not find a link to download.
    Thanks

if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here: http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a problem starting the download, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com or initiates the download of an incorrect (eg, current) version.

  • Do I need to follow a procedure for reinstalling acrobat 7.0 professional?

I need to perform a system recovery on my laptop and I wonder if I am going to have any issues reinstalling acrobat 7.0 professional.

Or if you can deactivate before the recovery it might do the job. Sometimes a recovery is not needed, but you can reinstall the OS without recovery. To do that you will find instructions on the new, but if you follow the install button rather than recovery you should reach a screen that gives you a choice to reinstall or repair. The repair is more likely what you want. In that case, system files are replaced, but your system retains most other parts of your setup.
Here is a link with directions for XP (Note the page where it says to NOT use the restore). http://pcsupport.about.com/od/operatingsystems/ss/instxprepair1.htm
Similar processes are available for Win 7. The steps that MicroSoft provides that suggest to use Restore to repair your machine are misleading. The repair you want is part of the install process (review the screen shots in the line). I have done this several times and it is a life saver for someone like me who has a lot of software that is not part of the original installation included in the system -- in fact most of the software I use regularly.

  • Activation screen missing after reinstall of Acrobat 7 Professional

Acrobat 7 Professional ran fine on my XP (SP3) computer for several years. Recently, upon launch, it started to display an Adobe Activation window with an error message telling me that it couldn't continue and to please reinstall it. I finally got around to reinstalling over the holidays, but the same window with the error message pops up. The regular activation screen (the one with my serial number and an activation code) never appears.
I've reinstalled and "repaired" at least 10 or 12 times. I've also read all the tech notes on activation problems and tried 90% of the suggestions (ran a check disk on the hard drive, defragged disk, deleted old Adobe Reader programs, reinstalled to the root directory instead of the default Program Files, ran a Registry Cleaner, etc. etc.). I ran the Adobe License Manager 2.70 patch, and I still get the error. I even installed Acrobat on my laptop (Win 2000) to make sure the Acrobat CD wasn't damaged (it installed fine and I was able to activate it from the activation screen). The only suggestion I didn't try was "reformat the disk and install only Windows and Adobe software." No, thanks.
When I launch Acrobat on my desktop and get the Activation error window, the Task Manager shows two related processes: Adobelmsvc.exe and Adobelm_Cleanup.0001. The Task Manager on my laptop, on the other hand, shows Adobelmsvc.exe and Adobelm_Cleanup (not with the digits 0001, although the difference may have to do with the difference between Win2K and XP). I don't know if this has any significance.
The Activation error pops up almost instantly after launch, but I've tried to quickly open the Help drop-down menu before the error appears, and I notice that the Activate option is grayed out.
This is a legit version of Acrobat that I purchased directly from Adobe, and I feel sure if I could just get the activation screen to appear, I could activate with no problems. I tried calling the phone activation folks at Adobe, but they sent me to Tech Support. Natually, Tech Support told me the software was no longer supported and to search the forums, which I've done.
Before I totally give up on this, I was hoping someone could suggest an activation solution.
    Thanks,
    AKT

    Okay, problem solved.
I uninstalled my Comodo Firewall. Apparently recent updates to Comodo are incompatible with Acrobat.

  • Can't open or reinstall Acrobat 9 Pro

I recently moved to a new Macbook Air (from an older PowerBook) and I transferred all my applications and settings to the new computer using a restore from Time Machine.
My entire Adobe Creative Suite 5 works just fine on the new computer ... EXCEPT for my Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional:
    1. When I tried to open it I got the error message that I had to open it as part of a suite, and to open another CS5 application .... which I did, but it still didn't work.
    2. Following the advice of another forum, I uninstalled Acrobat Pro from the new machine and tried to reinstall it from the disk. I'm getting error messages that the licensing is no longer working for the software.
Please help! I need this software to do my work ... any advice?
    Thank you!

I have exactly the same problem but with a windows 8/1 system. I ran the LicenseRecovery.exe; but, it only returned a "?"
Not much help, So, I have the original disks and serial number; Iuninstalled with the plan to reinstall. But, Windows wont let me, telling me that the software is already installed.
    Anything you can recommend

  • Need to reinstall Acrobat 7.1 Pro on Panther

I'm running OS X 10.3.9 and meet all other system and hardware requirements for CS2.3 Premium, which I recently purchased and installed.
The instructions for CS 2.3 Premium installation said to skip Acrobat 7 Pro and install Acrobat 8 after the Suite install.
    Word-for-word from the instructions:
    4. Select the components you would like to install, except Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional, and click Continue ...
    7. ...insert the Creative Suite 2.3 Premium Upgrade with Acrobat 8 Professional DVD.
    8. Copy the Acrobat 8 Professional folder onto your hard disk ...
My set of 4 disks had no options for a custom install, so I proceeded to install everything and uninstalled 7 later, then installed 8 as instructed.
When I realized Acrobat 8 won't run on Panther, it was too late. In the Read Me file on the Acrobat 8 disk, it said I would need 10.4.3 or higher. Why wasn't this stated in the initial Suite install instructions?
There's some misleading info here. I opened a case with Adobe, and the case was "Withdrawn." Here's the response I got:
"A Technical Support specialist has reviewed your support request. We regret to inform you that complimentary support for Adobe Creative Suite 2.0 Is not available and/or has expired." (Form letter?)
But they kindly provided a link for service contract sign-up. I also received an email promoting new products...
I have already run an uninstall for Acrobat 8 and ferreted out and trashed all Acrobat 7 files using Adobe's instructions on this site.
Is there a way to reinstall Acrobat Professional 7 without moving the entire Suite to the trash as described in the Adobe Creative Suite "Read Me First" file?
When I put in the Suite install disk, I get this message after entering my admin. password:
"The application Adobe Installer has unexpectedly quit"
Could my disks be defective after only one use?
I also ran some maintenance and found out I have a corrupt user Pref:
    /Users/USERNAME/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.ami.installer.plis
(No "t" at the end on log report)
I've searched this site and haven't seen that anyone has had a similar problem. Does any of this sound familiar? Any words of wisdom?
    If it helps ...
    Current hardware/software:
    G4 450 APG, with 1.75 GB memory.
Hard drive (new, Maxtor STM320080A) OS X 10.3.9 on the 1st partition (98.18 GB) OS 9.2.1 on the 2nd partition (29.92 GB)
Purchased & installed CS 2.3 shortly after replacing hard drive and installing Panther.

Thank you for your input. I realize now that the problem is bigger than that. I've done a lot of research since I wrote the initial post, and I think there are compatibility issues.
All my other CS2.3 applications erred out after uninstalling Acrobat 8 and the remnants of 7. After doing some research, I found that when installing from the Suite, some programs have shared files that can be deleted unintentionally after uninstalling individual apps.
I ended up deleting the entire CS2.3 Suite.
In the CS2 Read Me First file, that the recommended OSes for CS2.3 are Mac OS X v.10.2.8 through v.10.3.8 (10.3.4 through 10.3.8 recommended; G5 requires v.10.3 or later.) 10.3.9 is never mentioned. I was sure my OS was compatible when I purchased the Suite. Wrong, obviously!
The packaging on the Suite says 10.4.3 is required. The upgrade disk in the Suite for Acrobat 8 is the only app. that requires 10.4.3. If you follow the Suite installation instructions, it says NOT to install Acrobat 7. There is no word about system compatibility on the initial Suite instructions, and Read Me First files weren't updated with the Suite package (I'm sure the "Premium" marketing didn't included thatjust a repackaging of the original Suite with some add-ons.)
I have decided to reformat my hard drive and install OS 10.4.3.
There are also upgrades and patches available on Adobe's site that need to be made to ALL the CS2 applications. I have downloaded these and will save them outside of my machine so I can update as soon as I reinstall CS2 on the reformatted drive.
Many sites I've gone to show numerous problems with the CS2 Suite (CS3, too), many due to different issues than mine.
I still welcome any feedback about this and if there's anything I've overlooked, please comment.
I hope someone can learn from my mistake. This takes a lot of time and research, and I guess I didn't expect it to be this troublesome! And I am still researching ...

  • Where can I find a download site for Acrobat X Standard, and Acrobat 9 Professional.

I purchased Acrobat X and Acrobat 9 Professional, and no longer have media to re-install.  Where can I find a site that will allow me to download?  I have serials/license codes as they are both registered with Adobe.
    h

I have same problem as above, managed to get through the jungle of Adobe stuff took me long to find a link to download of Acrobat 9 Pro which I purchased long ago (for another strange reason the re-download link is not available from my order history page in my account). When I click on the Acrobat 9 Pro download link (on the page above) this is what I get:
    Access Denied
You don't have permission to access "http://trials2.adobe.com/Applications/Acrobat/APRO/9/trials/AcroPro90_efg.exe?" on this server.
    Reference #18.27174b17.1371522008.cc20b12
    Any ideas what to do?
    Thanks!!
BTW It is absolutely impossible to get hold of a customer service in Adobe, I recall once chatting with someone asking how to reinstall my product (which I paid money for!) and was told off by a "customer service officer" that I cant reinstall it if I dont "deactivate" on another machine, which crashed long ago and was disposed of, he was very patronising and the whole experience was very unpleasant. This is just to share experience.

  • Adobe acrobat 8 professional crashes in mountain lion

I just bought a new IMAC with mountain lion. I realize some of the older programs no longer work with it but I reinstalled adobe acrobat 8 professional and it does not seem compatable. I tried downloading an update and a patch but it constantly freezes, trying to use the text edit doesn't work and crashes the program or locks it up. I need to be able to edit PDFS and the program no longer works. Any suggestions?

You could try using spotlight to search for PDF files... short of that, you may have to ask Adobe.

  • Reinstalling Acrobat 8 Pro from CS3 Design Premium, asking for Photoshop Elements 6 CD??

    Hi.
I use a Macbook Pro with Leopard OS X version 10.5.8, 2.6 Ghz Intel Core Duo, $ GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
I use Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium which came with Acrobat 8 Professional. Now, for a while I've been having issues updating Acrobat because it said it had been modified blah blah and something about plugins being disabled, so to rectify reinstall and run updates. I've seen alot of people on forums with this same issue.
For a long time I ignored this as the program was still working, but today it urked me enough to unistall (which I did by dragging it from the applications to trash) and try to reinstall.
So I tried. Put the CD in, selected only Acrobat 8 Pro for reinstallation, all went well until it asked me to put in the Photoshop Element 6 CD.... which I never had. Although the program does come on the CD. So i'm left confused, without acrobat pro and wishing i had never uninstalled!
I hope this makes some sort of sense. Any help would be much appreciated!

I resorted to using the live chat feature that Adobe have on the website. We found that once everything was uninstalled and then just reinstalled Acrobat alone, I wasn't asked to insert the Photoshop Elements 6 CD to continue and everything was fine. No problems. But, when I tried to then reinstall the rest of the suite, it asked for the CD.
So, the way to avoid it asking for the CD was to uninstall CS3 Design Premium completely and then reinstall all the programs. And everything seems to be working fine.
Maybe this was an obvious solution, but I didn't want to risk uninstalling all the programs only to be asked for a non-existent CD when reinstalling.
Anyway, hopefully someone else will find this helpful.

  • Reinstalling acrobat 8 pro via ftp link from adobe??

Hi, I need some help in reinstalling acrobat8, I did the trial on acrobat 9. I had to unistall 8. The people at adobe sent me a FTP link to reinstall 8 as I have misplaced my 8 disk. I can't get the download to start from  the link that was emailed to me, Acrobat_pro_8zip from ftp.cs.adobe.com Any suggestions. Thanks

Hi, hope you can help me with this. I have down loaded the zip file and extracted the files and tried to reinstall. I have talked with eleventeen different tec's at adobe and the only postive feedback I get is Thank You for calling Adobe and can I do anything else to assist you, I've never been an angry person till now. One of the Adobe tec's had me download a cleaner and create a new user account on my computer. In the new user account I clicked on the C drive and unziped the Acrobat Pro 8. Still not working and receiving error message "A serious error has been detected and Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot continue. Please reinstall the application and try again." Adobe tells me that it should be working, but for a $39.00 charge they will get me up and running. I had no problems untill I uninstalled Acrobat 8 to try the free trial of Acrobat 9 and tried to reinstall Acrobate 8.

  • Need to download Acrobat 9 Professional

I have purchased in the past a download license for Adobe Acrobat Professional 9.  I had to wipe the computer that this was installed on and now I need to reinstall it.  Where can I get a download for Acrobat 9 Professional for Windows?

Assuming you are using Windows you can locate the download at http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html.

  • Acrobat 7 Professional - PDF Writer errors out in Print Queue

    Hello,
I'm an IT Technician.  We've just imaged many of our machines and several of our secretaries use Adobe Acrobat 7 Professional so I re-deployed that application, along with the 7.1.3 update.  Everything works fine for me, including some of our test accounts.  For this secretary, though, every time she goes to print something to 'Adobe PDF' the progress bar flashes quickly, it errors out in the print queue, and no document is created.  If I log in, or use another account with similar rights to her's, it works just fine.  I have removed Adobe Reader from it, done all the update, even gave her full control over that printer but still no luck.
    Any ideas?  Thanks!

When you print to the Adobe PDF printer, it normally creates a PS file in a specific location and AcroTray then notes the PS file and proceeds to finish the job of calling Distiller. Doing the Print-to-file was just to check that the basic functions work. If they do not, then which one fails - the print to file or Distiller. These steps should help isolate the problem and give you some direction to go. Sometimes it is just easier to reinstall or repair the current setup. If the person is not logged in as an administrator, is it possible that the installation restricted the application to only administrators?

  • Acrobat 7 Professional Uninstall

The Acrobat 7.1 update says that it includes all previous updates and that all you need is 7.0.0.  I have Acrobat 7 Professional on XP Professional that is giving me all kinds of fits.  I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, and manually apply updates.  I cannot open the program or any associated with it, distiller, etc.  I am able to apply update 7.0.1 and 7.0.2 and 7.0.3 without error code.  There is no 7.0.4 and when I apply 7.0.5, which is supposed to have previous patches included, I get error message, "No valid sequence could be found for the set of patches."
I get error message, "Internal Error 2716. Comp_PDFmaker_Office" every time I turn on the computer or try to open any window, browser, My documents, Control panel.  The list goes on.  I have uninstalled Office.  I believe I need a cleaner to get rid of all instances of Adobe on my computer.  Any Suggestions? or links?

Do you have Acrobat Reader also installed on your system? If so, you should also remove it using the Windows Install Cleanup Utility. Adobe strongly recommend that you not have Reader installed on the system where Acrobat is also installed.

  • Can Acrobat 8 Professional coexist with FrameMaker 8.0?

I run FrameMaker 8.0p273 on a Dell Latitude D630 laptop running Windows XP Professional Version 2002, Service Pack 2.
When I try to install Acrobat 8 Professional, I get a setup message stating "Setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed. Setup will now terminate."
I also have Adobe Reader 8.1.2 installed. (I had thought that Reader might have been the application that Acrobat was complaining about, but uninstalling Reader didn't help.)
I have created PDF files from FrameMaker 8 in the hopes of using the commenting and sticky-note features, but the PDFs that I create do not have that functionality.
Should I uninstall FrameMaker 8, install Acrobat 8 Professional, and then reinstall FrameMaker?
Or is there some other way to get the full functionality of Acrobat 8 that my FrameMaker installation seems to think I already have?

Thanks, Arnis: Your suggestion worked well. Here are the exact steps I took:
    1. Uninstalled FrameMaker 8, the PDF Creation Add-On, and the two FM patches I'd installed (8.0p266 and 8.0p273). (I might not have needed to uninstall the two patches, but I wanted a clean slate.)
    2. Installed Acrobat 8 Professional.
    3. Reinstalled FM 8 without the PDF Creation Add-On. (There was a separate window to choose the latter installation, which I declined.)
    4. Reinstalled patches p266 and p273.
    5. Restarted my system.
    6. Restarted FM 8, opened a FM file, and successfully created a PDF file (File > Save As PDF).
    Thanks for your help--
