  • Trying to reinstall Adobe Acrobat Pro after a crash

My laptop crashed last week and I lost everything on it.  Every.  Thing.  I’m dying over here and desperately need a break…
Anyway, I’m rebuilding, much like New Orleans after Katrina.  One program at a time.  I want to reinstall Adobe Acrobat Pro, but my original key is invalid (I assume expired?)  What do I need to do to get a new key to reinstall it?  I appreciate any assistance or kind words anyone can offer.

If you have a key or S/N, they are indefinite and do not expire. It may be an issue of the version you are trying to use it with. The key is tied to a specific version (9, X, XI as well as Pro and Std and Upgrade). There may also be an OS issue if it is a new machine. So information on the version, upgrade (or not), and OS would help us give you some idea of the problems.

  • I had to reinstall adobe acrobat x after microsoft uninstalled windows 7 system and replaced new sy

    Help needed in Carolinas

    Hi,
It seems that Acrobatder has not been set as default to view the pdf files.
Right click on the pdf file and go to 'Properties'.
Under 'General' tab, opens with > click on 'change' button
A new window called 'open with' would pop up on screen asking you to choose the program to open the file.
Select Acrobat and at the bottom make sure 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file' is checked and then click on 'Ok'
This should set Acrobat as the default program to launch the pdf files.
Let me know if this worked for you or not.
    Regards,
    Ravi

  • Reinstalled Adobe Acrobat XI Pro after upgrading to windows 8.1 and now cannot scan

Reinstalled Adobe Acrobat XI Pro after upgrading to windows 8.1 and now cannot scan through Adobe, although Scanner says its combatible with Windows 8. Cannot reinstall drivers because Brother claims they're built-in. Help!

    1. Re: Reinstalled Adobe Acrobat XI Pro after upgrading to windows 8.1 and now cannot scan
    Anubha Goel
I am using a Brother MFC 8460N and on Brother's site it says its compatible with win 8.1 and that the driver is already installed. When I try to scan I am told there is no preset (there was with win 7 though) and I have to "custom scan." When I try that, I hear a sound as if the printer is trying to scan, but the feeder can't pull the paper through. I then get a blank .pdf as my scan. Thanks for your advice. I will try that.

  • Reinstalling adobe acrobat 7 prof after upgrading OS but fails create pdf port

Used download manager to reinstall adobe acrobat 7 professional after upgrading OS to windows 7. Install ends but fails with error "Warning 20225. Adobe Acrobat 7.0.5 set up was unable to create a new item Adobe PDF Port & Printer". Adobe is installed but I can no longer print to pdf nor use Adobe directly to create pdf from file. This feature was available before this reinstallation.
    How do I fix this?

    Hi myee.somers,
Acrobat 7 is a 32-bit application and while it can successfully be installed on a 64-bit machine using SysWOW64 (which enables 32-bit apps to work on 64-bit machines), there are some known limitations. One of those known limitations is that 32-bit printer drivers will not work on 64-bit machines.
So you can install the main Acrobat 7 application, but you won't be able to installer the Adobe PDF Printer Driver.
Support Policy for Adobe Acrobat 7.0.x (Windows XP x64)

    Kb for error 20225: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/error-warning-20225-or-no.html
Even in the 64-bit versions of Windows XP  the Acrobat 7 printer driver was not supported.

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro crashes in 30 seconds

    Hello everybody,
I've got Acrobat X Pro 10.1.1 installed on my PC running Windows 7 64-bit (Corei7 2600K, 16GB DDR3. I got the Creative Suite 5 Master Collection and Acrobat X separately and installed them one after the other on the same day. A problem I've just noticed for the first time cropped up about a week ago. I normally used to have Adobe Reader as my default program to open and view PDF files, but recently when I tried to open PDF files in Acrobat for the first time since installation, the program crashes. The program will start up perfectly and display the PDF correctly, but after about 30 seconds, every time I've tried, with different PDF's from different sources and different sizes and versions, Acrobat X always crashes. I can use the program fully within those 30 seconds, for example, resizing the image, selecting text, finding text in a document, etc. all works perfectly, but every single time the Acrobat X Pro opens, it crashes after 30 seconds with the usual Windows 7 Program Crash dialogue box that reads:
    "Adobe Acrobat has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
The only option the dialogue box gives is to Quit, so I click that and it closes the program fully but nothing else happens. Now Adobe Reader still works fine so I've had to revert to that to view all my PDF files, but I can't edit or properly interact with them.
I understand that this post is somewhat vague because I have no error code or anything to identify what is happening. If there is a way to obtain this information, and if said information might help anybody reading this to assist me in repairing the issue, please let me know what to do.
If some crash log isn't required but somebody has come across a similar issue or heard of anything like this, I would be much obliged to hear possible causes or solutions to the problem.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you all very much,
    Akbar

    Found the answer at http://www.computertutoring.co.uk/hints-tips/acrobat-help-stopped-working.asp
    Worked for me!
    Here it is:
Use the control panel to uninstall Acrobat
In Windows Explorer, ensure that all of the Acrobat files are deleted by going to c:\program files\adobe\acrobat\ folder. Trash any leftover folders.
Using the control panel, create another user account giving it administrator priviledges and use this account to reinstall Adobe Acrobat from the installation CD. (Careful you don't reinstall all the software or you could be waiting a long time).
Hope it works for you, too.

    Hi.
Does this only open on that specific site?
In any case, you may want to:
    - instruct Firefox to handle PDF files in a specific way by going into Tools > Options > Applications and selecting the option you want for the PDF files
    - reinstall Adobe Reader and its Firefox plugin
    - install another reader instead of Adobe Reader. I recommend Foxit Reader ( http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader/ ), since it's free, VERY light, VERY fast, safe and also has a Firefox plugin (make sure you don't have both Adobe Reader plugin and Foxit Reader plugin enabled/installed at the same time in Firefox)

  • Adobe acrobat 8 professional crashes in mountain lion

I just bought a new IMAC with mountain lion. I realize some of the older programs no longer work with it but I reinstalled adobe acrobat 8 professional and it does not seem compatable. I tried downloading an update and a patch but it constantly freezes, trying to use the text edit doesn't work and crashes the program or locks it up. I need to be able to edit PDFS and the program no longer works. Any suggestions?

You could try using spotlight to search for PDF files... short of that, you may have to ask Adobe.

  • Reinstall adobe acrobat 8.0 standard

    Dear Adobe,
I need to reinstall Adobe acrobat 8.0 standard after formatting. Unofrtunately I have not a backup. I have the serials but not the original install files. Is there anyway to download somewhere the files?
    Many thanks

The link provided by Mylenium eventually leads to
    http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
Only the Acrobat 8 Pro for Windows link is available there and entering your Acrobat Standard serial number into the Acrobat Pro installer will not work. A separate Acrobat Standard installer is required.
Are you trying to reinstall on a Dell? If so, you can get the software from https://smartsource.dell.com
Other than that, I'm not aware of any links for Acrobat Standard 8, sorry.

  • ReInstalling Adobe Acrobat 5.0

    ReInstall Adobe Acrobat 5.0
I had to reinstall windows and now I have to reinstall acrobat 5.0 (I know all the other versions are newer, bigger, badder etc. but I only use this about twice a year for completing forms and so it is quite satisfactory.)I have my disk and my codes, but I cant find the manual. Online searches provide information about the newer versions
Now my problem is I cant get it to install. Apparently, there is no auto install. Exploring the CD fails to find any obvious instructions that I can access Thanks to Microsoft office refuses to open that early version of word documents, and the HTML instructions are really great They consist of:
    - Make sure you have at least 120 MB of available disk space for a Typical installation of Adobe Acrobat 5.0.5.
    - Make sure you have turned off all anti-virus software before beginning the installation.
    - Install Adobe Acrobat 5.0.5.
    Duh!
HOW DO I INSTALL MY ACROBAT 5.0?
(and lets use the installation for dummies version)
(Ive got the hard drive space and the anti-virus is turned off)
I have the CD in my drive, and using explore I find the Acrobat 5.0 folder
Looking inside I find setup.exe but clicking on it produces nothing it doesnt run
Likewise the only other exe program in the folder ISDel.exe- same result
Clearly something else has to be done, but when your installation instructions consist of:
    - Install Adobe Acrobat 5.0.5.
Adobe makes it tough and their manual isnt even written in Japlish.

I have the same problem as described by Steve Burrage above. Except that nothing seems to resolve this issue. I am just unable to run the Setup.exe file to install Acrobat 5.0.5 on Microsoft XP. I am able to install the CD on other XP machines but not on mine.
It is a new laptop which I got with Vista on it. AA 5.0.5 couldnt be installed on Vista and after I converted the machine to XP it is still not working.
I tried after removing Adobe Reader and shutting off the Anti virus program. It just doesn't work.
I hope someone can suggest a solution.
    Thanks

  • Adobe Acrobat Distiller 9 crashes on start

I recently bought a new notebook with Intel Pentium dual-core processor T3400 and Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed.
This weekend, I have been installing some software, including Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended.
Actually, I bought Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro just for having Acrobat Distiller (not: Distiller Server), to use in book publishing with Corel Ventura 10 and PostScript. The version I got is Acrobat Distiller 9.
However, when I now start up Acrobat Distiller 9 it shows up for one or two seconds and then crashes (just vanishes from the screen without an error message).
I found the same problem described for earlier versions of Distiller (in XP and Mac) in various online fora, but thus far I have not seen a solution described anywhere.
It seems to be a common (and long-standing) problem, certainly there must be a fix?
(I already uninstalled an reinstalled Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and also tried "Repair Acrobat Installation" under "Help" in the programme. To no avail.)
Let me know if you have an idea. Thanks.

Got Distiller to work. Seems the problem was with software activation/licensing. I got different software - and a free update to Acrobat 9 Extended - from my merchant and installed it. Distiller now does not crash anymore when starting it up and appears (thus far) stable.
However, I still get an error message at start up:
    Adobe PostScript software version: 3018.101
Adobe PDF Settings file read error in PDFX4 2008.joboptions:
    /CheckCompliance out of range
A quick web search shows that this is also not a new problem. Some say that Distiller is not able to create PDF/X4 files and that the error is thus a bug in Distiller itself. Is that true? (I can't find a joboptions file of that name in my system ...)
Do I need to do anything about it or can I just leave it?

  • I have updated my Adobe Acrobat plugin three times today but the firefox plugin check says it is out of date, a problem as I repeatedly encounter "The Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed" when I attempt to download pdfs.

I am attempting to download pdf's from a library search on JSTOR. I can view the pdf but cannot download them as they say "The Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". I have been to the firefox plugin check and have updated Adobe Acrobat three times in the last hour, but it still says my plugin is not up to date. This leads me to believe that this may be the source of my crash errors.
I updated Adobe Flash from the same firefox plugin check page and after one try it now says I am up to date, so my system is obviously accepting these updates.
    Help!!!!!

The following solution is useful for people who have the full version of Acrobat 9, but are getting the error message "the Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". You probably want the features in the full version of Acrobat, but still need to be able to open PDF files from your Firefox browser.
Go to Tools > Options > Applications. Scroll down and change all of the Adobe Acrobat files to open with Acrobat 9 (or whatever version you have) instead of "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)". This may not be as handy as having it use Acrobat inside the Firefox browser, but it will still let you open PDF files without having to uninstall the full version of Acrobat. Hope this helps.
