I use Adobe CS4 on a MacBook Pro and need to reinstall IA and ID. For some reason my efforts aren't working so I need someone to walk me through it.

Yes please run the uninstallers indicated in message #1. If you continue to face difficulties then run all available uninstallers and then please run the CS Cleaner Tool. Also the installer will detect items in your trash can so please make sure to empty your trash.

For the most part this should work, but you will need to make sure to e.g. fix the permissions on the Library folder because 10.9 handles this differently from previous versions of OSX. And of course there may be any number of other compatibility issues that may require manual fiddling.

Please try the following basic troubleshooting steps:
> Enable the hidden Admin Account on Windows 7 ( Ref : http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-wi ndows-vista/ )
> Disable all Non-Microsoft Startup Services. (Ref : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/disable-startup-items-services-windows.html )
> Disable all the Antivirus softwares like CA, Norton,Mc Afee etc. temporarily from the computer.
Reboot and try installing in the new enabled Admin user account and check.

Adobe CS4 for Mac v Windows

I am starting out as a Freelance video editor. My sister is in fashion design. Due to our tight budget we plan on sharing the Adobe CS4.
I use a MacbookPro while my sister an HP laptop.
As a solution I thought of buying the Windows version of CS4 which I will run using Parallels.
Does it make sense? I had heard that there are significant performance impact when using a "virtual" machine than running it "native" on OS X. But then lately people have been telling Parallels is really good?
I am not too keen on having a CS4 Master for Windows instead of a Production Premium for Mac only. But if you people think there is no harm in it then it would save me a lot of money by buying one copy of multi-license Windows only.

As X says, you'll get better info from Adobe discussions. However - good though Parallels is, you will get something of a performance hit, especially when it comes to graphic-intensive applications. There is something of an overhead to virtualisation, although nothing like as bad as it used to be.
You could get round it by using Bootcamp if you don't mind the rebooting.
But go to the Adobe groups and ask someone who knows.

How do we reinstall adobe cs4 without the disc?

Our computer crashed and after we fix it, we were unable to open adobe cs4 back up. It asked us for a serial number. After we input the serial number is said it had expired and now the software "crashes" every time we open it. Unable to open and/or reinstall.

Reinstalling Adobe CS4 after Hard Drive Crash

Hi, I am a student and I bought the Adobe CS4 Design Premium Student Licensing Editon a few months ago and recently my hard drive died on me and I had to get it replaced. So, I was just wondering if I had to deactivate my serial number for my CS4 suite first before installing it again on my new hard drive. I've contacted the adobe customer service and the adobe technical support and they both told me I could just reinstall it with no problem. I just wanted to confirm this a third time before I do it, and to note, I didn't buy the product directly from Adobe, I bought it from a website called JourneyEd.com.
Also, the technical support person I contacted, told me you could install the student licensing edition on two computers. (I thought it was just one) Is this true?

You can install it on a million computers. You can only activate it on two computers for your own non-simultaneous use.

Can I Install Mountain Lion without reinstalling Adobe CS4?

Adobe CS4 edu version is difficult to get authorized and set up with seriel numbers.
I won't install Mountain Lion, until I hear that it shouldn't step on My Adobe CS4 Creative Suite 4 Design Premium.

You must have an Upgrade CD. It's only asking you for the serial number ("key") of the older versiuon you used to upgrade to whatever version you are trying to install.

Problem reinstalling Illustrator CS4 on Mac Intel

I had Illustrator CS4 installed in my Mac Mini Intel OS 10.6.8 and it worked fine, but I had to reinstall it and now I cannot print from Illustrator, it freezes Illustrator.
I already uninstalled using the Uninstaller and reinstalled it three times and the same problem remains.
If I open the Illustrator file in Photoshop CS4 I can print with no problem.

Illustrator acesses different parts of the .ppd so possibly could be part of the problem. Look at your print settings, try bitmapping everything, by sliding raster balance to rasters. Will say custom after you click ok, not medium resolution. Then check the Graphics tab above advanced and what postcritpt level you have set.
Is your iMac that works using the same exact .ppd?

Reinstalling Adobe Acrobat for Mac

Please can you help me - I have Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard on my mac, Acrobat is not working and I cant find my disk, but I do have my serial number, is there anywhere I can find it on the internet to reinstall.

How do I de-install Adobe Premiere CS4 for mac so I can re-install it? I think you have to do more than just throw it in the trash right?
I'm on a mac OS X version 10.5.6

I have not done it yet for if you want to reinstall Adobe CS4 Premiere for Mac you have to reinstall the entire suite. ALSO I purchased Quick Time Pro and it will NOT open MPEG files so that I can convert them to MOV files to get my timeline back up and running.eeeerrrrrr
thaks gueys for the previous messages...In short my MPEGs in my timeline are all Pending (they were working fine for months. My .mov files in Adobe Premiere are fine still. I just don't want to lose all of my editing! I need help trying to get my MPEGS working again and don't want to have to re-edit.

Problems with BBC iPlayer Desktop and Adobe Air for Mac

I would be grateful for anyone who can help me with a problem I have on my Laptop running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3.I am having difficulty running BBC iPlayer Desktop and I suspect it is caused by Adobe Air.
Recently I was prompted to update Adobe Air to the latest version (as of February 2012) and after I successfully updated the program, this began to cause problems when I used BBC iPlayer desktop.
The first problem I noticed was that I was unable to play any downloaded programmes in full screen - only the sound played, not the video.
Secondly, a few weeks after this problem began, all my TV programmes mysteriously disappeared.
My final problem is that everytime I launch BBC iPlayer it is unable to download new programmes - when I am connected to the internet, the application still says it is "offline".
I have tried to resolve the problem by restarting my computer, uninstalling and reinstalling BBC iPlayer, disabling and re-enabling my firewall, connecting to the internet in different locations but this has not resolved the problem.
I tried to uninstall Adobe Air, but the installation package tells me it is 'corrupt'. So I tried to download and reinstall the application from the adobe website, but the computer already recognises that the app is installed. i.e. - I can't uninstall or reinstall Adobe Air.
I contacted BBC iPlayer support and they were unable to help - directing me to your website. I have read several other discussion topics posted on this website but not found the solution I am looking for.
Please can some help me to solve this problem, by helping me uninstall and reinstall Adobe Air for Mac?
I am not very technical minded - for example - I don't know what log files are or how to find them - so please explain it as simply as possible.

Just had the same thing happen AGAIN. Suddenly - a blank iPlayer Desktop which failed to download new programmes. All previous programmes were still in the repository folder. This time the sequence I outlined previously didn't work.
What eventually got things working this time was to reinstall Adobe Air as part of the BBC iPlayer Desktop installation process - and not separately.
So:
a) Move iPlayer to trash.
b) Find and delete the following folder: Users/Yourname/Library/Preferences/BBCiPlayerDesktop.61DB7A798358575D6A969CCD73DDBBD 723A6DA9D.1
c) Find and delete the following folder:
Users/Yourname/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AIR/ELS/BBCiPlayerDesktop.61DB7A798358575D6A969CCD73DDB BD723A6DA9D.1
d) Find and delete the following folder:
Users/Yourname/Movies/BBC iPlayer/repository/cache
e) Find and run: Applications/Utilities/Adobe AIR Uninstaller
f) Empty the Trash. I found that bits and pieces of BBC iPlayer were still running despite having been quit and dumped in the trash - and so it wouldn't allow me to complete this part. Restarted the computer, then empty the trash.
g) Find the folder: Users/Yourname/Movies/BBC iPlayer/repository and rename it repository2
h) Reinstall iPlayer. It will tell you that you have no programmes to view. Quit the programme.
i) Find and delete the folder: Users/Yourname/Movies/BBC iPlayer/repository
j) Find the folder: Users/Yourname/Movies/BBC iPlayer/repository2 and rename it to repository.
k) Relaunch iPlayer
It would be terribly nice if the BBC or Adobe stopped buggering about with this . . .

Trying to re-install Adobe CS4

Trying to reinstall Adobe CS4 Design Premium, but it keeps hanging at "preparing to install". The disk is in good shape and everything.
P.S. My operating system is Windows 7.

make sure antivirus/antimalware programs are suspended and right click the setup file and click 'run as administrator'.
if that fails, check your log files to see if an error is listed, Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC
if not, check your running processes during installation to determine what part of the installation is hanging.

Problems Installing Adobe Illustrator CS4 on Mac OS X Yosemite

Hi all,
When trying to install Illustrator CS4 on Mac OS X Yosemite, I receive an error: "required resources are missing."
Previously, I had problems using Illustrator CS4 when I upgraded to Yosemite, due to an error with the plugin "photoshopimport.aip." I had attempted to uninstall Illustrator, but the uninstall also gave me errors. I ultimately used the CC Cleaner Tool to remove Illustrator.
Now, however, I can't reinstall Illustrator CS4 either! I use the version provided on Adobe's website, so it's not a problem with a physical DVD.
Any ideas for potential solutions? Many thanks!

I don't have an Adobe installation log, and it's not hidden either. I tried installing Illustrator CS4 again, and I noticed that the install fails while ~80% through an "initializing" step. So, it fails before it even starts to generate an install log! I re-downloaded it and had the same error.
I did notice that I have some errors in the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool when I was removing Illustrator CS4. If you look at my first post, I couldn't use it, or uninstall it, so I simply used the Cleaner Tool to remove it. There are some errors in the Cleaner Tool log, such as this one:

Any other ideas? Or am I simply stuck??
