Reinstalling catalogues from Elements 4

Hi, my PC motherboard recently died so I had to upgrade the whole lot. I did a fresh install of XP (as it wouldn't boot with new Motherboard, cpu, gpu etc) and reinstalled PSE4 (And a trial version of PSE7). I let both find my images (now on a different HD) to build my catalogue but obviously I dont have all my Tags and collections (albums?) that I had previously. I did manage to import some tags but I mostly have collections (Holiday 07 etc). I still have the original installation of PSE4 on my now spare drive - is there any way of copying over a config file of some kind to get my collections back? And will it work now that my photos are on a different drive? I have a few plugins as well but these are not so important - I can always download them again.
Thanks, Liam.

You have to find your catalog file from the old hard disk. The default name is My Catalog.psa. It may be in a hidden folder.
If you can find that, put it on your new computer's hard disk. For it to work, your photos have to be at the exact same location as they were on the old computer. In other words, the drive letter, folder location and file name must be the same. If that is the case, just double click on the My Catalog.psa file, and you should be up and running.
If the files are not in the exact same location as before, you need to move things around so now they are in the exact same location as before. (Alternatively, you could try the PSE command File->Reconnect, but I prefer just moving the files/folders back to where they were.) Once you have your catalog up and running, you could move the photos to wherever you want them, using PSE commands.

Thanks for your further interest. I have installed the Beta 3 version and imported the catalogue as offered at initial opening.
As I haven't gone through this process, could you please explain EXACTLY how you imported your PSE8 catalog into LR3 beta?
All the keyword tags have been imported but only about one third of the thumbnails have  tags attached.
Did you import the photos, or import/convert the catalog? There is a difference. Please specify exactly what you did.
I believe the thumbnails will have been imported from "my pictures" rather from the elements 8 cataolgue. I cannot see that there is any facility to do this but maybe I will need to await the final version.
This statement leads me to believe that you imported the photos, not import/convert the catalog.

  • Can I upgrade from Lightroom 3 to  5 and then move a catalogue into it from Elements 10?

I currently have Lightroom 3, Elements 10, and just bought CS6.
Is it possible / advisable to upgrade to Lightroom 5 and then move the catalogue from Elements into Lightroom? it would consolidate photos in one catalogue, at a minimum...
    any help appreciated.

Yes it can be done and is advisable!! Upgrade your Lr3 catalog in Lr5. I would then creat a new catalog in Lr5 and import the Elements one, then Open your original Lr5 catalog and import the one with the elements images. Just to keep the importing from elements separate.

  • How do I move Elements 11 photos and catalogue from iMac to new iMac both running Yosemite?

I've been researching best way to move my photos and catalogue from my current iMac to my new iMac.  I'm using Elements 11.  Both iMacs running Yosemite.  I know I need to deactivate the current computer's version of Elements if putting it on the new one runs me over the license limit - I don't think it will.  I have read enough to be pretty sure I have to NOT migrate the Elements 11 program to the new iMac because it won't work properly - I'll have to reinstall it from my installation disc on the new iMac.  So far, so good.
Now, I want the easiest way to get the photos on the new iMac, in the same folders, and preserve the catalogue and my current ratings on the photos.  I am unclear on how the catalogue works with its backup and restore function.  Should I move all my photos in their folders in exactly the same locations on my new iMac before installing Elements and trying to restore the catalogue?  I read about the ways to restore the catalogue and I am unsure about whether it just looks for the pictures in the places it expects to find them (which will be the same if I copy everything on to the new iMac first), or whether it restores the pictures where it thinks they should be (in which case I should NOT put the pictures on the new iMac before restoring the catalogue or I'll end up duplicating everything).   Also I have read - and been confused by - the options about restoring catalogue in new location, old location, etc.  I don't want my folders changed.  I have my pictures stored where I want them and I want to keep them there - and I'd prefer not to add some extra layer under the basic My Pictures on my iMac.
I have stored the most recent version of the catalogue, with all photos reconnected, on an external drive.  All the pictures in the catalogue have their meta-data associated with them.  I hope that this will allow me to preserve ratings.  Going through thousands of pictures to find the really good ones again is a time-consuming mess.  When I went from Windows to Mac 3 years ago - I lost the catalogue and all ratings.  When I upgraded from Elements 9 to Elements 11, I lost the catalogue and all ratings.  I do NOT want to ever go through that again.

I appreciate your answer and agree that it is correct, but you told me nothing I did not know.  There is an Elements technical paper which says this in much greater detail, but still does not answer the questions I was trying to ask.
The catalogue file seems much too small to include my thousands of photos.  Are you telling me that it has magically reduced the size of all those photos - from 64 GB to 33 GB, and added the catalogue information - so that the photos will just appear out of nothing but that smaller catalogue file when I restore catalogue?  If so, will you explain the options of same location, new location, new location with existing file structure, etc?
I understand installing the program.  I understand that I should backup the catalogue (I've done it).  I understand I will use restore to restore the catalogue.  I found all this on other sites.  I need someone, somewhere, to explain to me if I need to copy the photos themselves to their new location before I restore catalogue - or not.  And which option in restore to use.  I thought I explained this in my original question.  Any help on these questions about matters I do not understand will be appreciated.

My Mac crashed. I got a new hard drive. I reinstalled Lightroom. Fortunately ircats are stored on an external drive. How do I import all of the old catalogues from external drive into a new LR catalogue. I have done it before. It has just been many years and I can't recall how.

If you had stored your catalog files on an external drive, then all you have to do is double-click on them to open them and use them.
Or you could move them to the internal drive and double-click on them once the move is completed.
To create a single catalog file from multiple ones, you could use File->Import from Another Catalog

Ononecorefoundation.dll Is Missing From Your Computer- Error Message
This error can occur if there are older plugins lingering in your plugins folder of Photoshop after installing Suite 8 and trying to launch Photoshop. To correct the error go to your: [Local Disk (C:)]\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CSx 64bit\Plugins:Delete
PS:   I only deleted the old obsolete OnOne plugins, and left their  newer plugins, That worked and now Elements 10 is working just fine

  • Import catalogue from adobe photoshop elements

How can I import a photo catalogue from adobe photoshop elements (9.0) into Aperture?
    Thanks for every hint,
    Penibel

Yes, use File>Write tags and properties to file and Elements should pick up the metadata keywords this creates. However, if you have raw files or tiffs from an epson scanner, the metadata creation can be unreliable.

  • Moving Photoshop Album 2.0 catalogue to Elements 13

All my photos are on Photoshop Album V2.0 on an old PC running windows XP. I've moved to Macs - OS X Mavericks and want to try and copy my Album catalogue over. I've downloaded Elements 13 free trial on my Mac and am happy with that.  Adobe help says my Album catalogue can be exported to Elements using backup/restore but both machines have to be running the same version of Elements. But Elements 13 won't run on XP according to the spec. I assume if I have Album and Elements running on the same computer I can move the catalogue from one to the other? So I've looked for Elements 12 free trial and can't find it, only Elements 13 free trial appears to be available now.  Downloads of earlier versions look like you need a serial number. So I'm in a catch 22 situation. I don't want to buy Windows 7 for a machine I'm going to scrap, particularly as what I'm trying to do might not work. Where can I get a trail version that will run on XP? Or is there another solution.
    Thanks on advance

  • How do I Reinstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 on Windows 8

How do I Reinstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 11

You could try downloading from here
    https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/photoshop-elements-10-11-downloads.html
Download and save both files to the same folder then double click on the file2 (a .exe file)  to start the unpack of the other file. May take a little while to get going.
Or you could copy the contents of the DVD to a memory stick on the PC with the DVD drive and then use that.

  • Edit In Lightroom, catalogue in Elements 10. Can this be done?

I have 55,000 images catalogued in Elements 10 (took me three months to finish the job) and I now want to switch to Lightroom for editing whilst retaining my PS catalogue. Can I therefore, import initially into Lightroom (from camera), edit, then export to Elements?
Alternatively, would it be better to simply save my current catalogue of 'destructed' images and begin a new grand catalogue in Lightroom?
    Cheers

In my opinion, the only sensible choice is to upgrade the PSE10 catalog to a Lightroom catalog, and then do your organizing there. There really is NO smooth easy way to allow photo from a PSE catalog to be edited in Lightroom. The PSE Organizer was not designed to send photos to Lightroom's Develop Module. (However, the other way around, Lightroom's Library Module was designed to work with the PSE Editor.)
Can I therefore, import initially into Lightroom (from camera), edit, then export to Elements?
This is takes extra work for each photo, and I discourage you from doing this, since as stated, there are much better options. Furthermore, I don't see any benefit of doing this, compared to import into LR, edit in LR, leave in LR. What benefit do you see?
Alternatively, would it be better to simply save my current catalogue of 'destructed' images and begin a new grand catalogue in Lightroom?
Absolutely not. You don't want to lose all the work that you have already done and then re-do it. And you want all of your photos in a single catalog (and in my opinion, that should be the Lightroom catalog).
As I said, the easiest choice is to upgrade the PSE catalog to a Lightroom catalog, and then do your organizing and editing in Lightroom. Use PSE as an auxiliary editor for those situations where you need more power than the Lightroom editor. What objection do you have against this?
I have read just the opposite of what you say - that Lightroom is a 'light' version of Photoshop Elements
This is baloney. Lightroom was designed to be different that either PSE or Photoshop, it is a large set of capabilities and strengths, and is not a "light" version of anything. Furthermore, if your thought process was based on this non-truth that Lightroom is a "light" version of PSE, then you will be led in the wrong direction (which apparently, you have been). You need to evaluate each software based on its capabilities, and determine which one meets your needs the best, rather than evaluate the software on misleading words like "light version".

  • Lost serial number and need to reinstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 11

After wiping my computer clean, I had to reinstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 but realized I no longer have the box with the serial number. I purchased the softward from a camera company called B&H Photo but they don't do anything but ship. I have the external box with barcode but not the internal box with serial number. What can I do to reinstall?

I finally found the correct download page through exploration. I'm sorry I didn't keep track of my path. Anyway, I've got it working!
Ned, the page you just gave me is where I started. Clicking on "Adobe Elements 12" opens a table describing the product with links because of the way it's set up, I thought the table was inviting me to download the Japanese version or the German version, but no English!
    Thank you so much.

  • Can not login to Revel from Elements 12.

My pictures are not uploading to Revel Premium.  The option to "Sign IN to Adobe Revel" on File menu from Elements 12 is greyed out...so it appears we can not login.  Any ideas?

I do not know how to paste a screen print to this message.  I pasted it to a Word doc but can't find a way to attach it to this message The inability to sign into revel to sync my account is just one problem I am having, not sure if that is why my pics won't go to my revel account or not. (By the way, I am not using an iPad app, I am using my Macbook Pro to sign into Revel via internet.) I was signed in a couple of weeks ago just fine and the pics still would not sync to Revel. (I read on a forum to disconnect then to shut the program down and then restart and sign in to get it to work.  Ever since then it has not worked.) Before  I upgraded to a paid subscription, pics would upload until I met my free # of uploaded photos. Since I upgraded to a paid account, no more will move to Revel.  I have created mobile folders in Elements and Revel will show the 4 folders I have created but they are grey boxes with titles, but no pics inside.  The only pics that are on my Revel site are the few I was able to load when it was a free site.  No more.
I REALLY need help and have spent countless hours reading every forum, blog post, and problem solving site.  Last week I chatted with adobe customer service who had me look at every setting and I apparently have every setting the way it should be to work correctly (except that now I can not sign back into Revel from Edit > Preferences > Adobe Revel -- "Sign in to Adobe Revel" option is greyed out.)  They told me that I could call the help line and I would not be charged for the call because I have purchased the software.  (A lie.) I called the phone number he suggested and they told me it would be a $29.95 charge for receiving any help with this matter.  I told him I am not paying another $30 after I have spent $100 on the Elements software and another $60 on Revel and can't even get it to work.  He suggested I chat with someone from Revel department.  He walked me through to get me to the right place to chat. The new person on chat was unable to help because he was in "customer service dept." and did not have ability to help with technical problems.  He said I could post my problem in the forums but since I had posted another problem 7 days before that was never answered I was reluctant. So I ask, what am I to do??  I can not get the software to work. I spent around 3 hours that afternoon trying to get help.  I spent at least 5-6 hours before that trying to fix it myself by reading all the helps and "work around" solutions on the adobe site.  I have since then been trying to find a way to save my pics to an external drive because my husband noticed that when on my Elements program under Help>Updates that a error message pops up that says "Adobe Photoshop Elements 12-Your application install seems to be damaged, Please reinstall the application."  Unfortunately I am scared to death about losing all my hours of editing pics, organizing photos into folders  that I have already done because the program will not allow me to "back-up my photos" on an external drive when choosing that option.  I'm currently saving each folder to the desktop and then manually saving individually to an external drive because that is not working either.  I am not sure any of this is necessary but I feel I must be prepared if I have to call and spend the ridiculous $30 to get help to finally use the software I purchased a month ago, and they tell me I must uninstall and reinstall the program.  By the way, an Adobe Technician installed it for me "remotely" when it would not install the paid version after using the trial version , so if it was done incorrectly It is not my fault.  I just need some help and am beyond frustrated.  If I had not already sunk so many hours into editing and organizing, I would demand a refund and find another software program that actually works that also has a physical person I can talk to if I have a problem.  I mean--any company should at least supply help for a short period of time to make sure it is working after installed. I am so short on time to work on this and just really need help to get this working.

  • Reinstall of Premiere Elements 11 Freezes

I had both Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 working on my Windows 8 machine.  I uninstalled Premiere for troubleshooting reasons.  I am trying to reinstall from disc.  The disc spins a lot, I select the Premiere button and then the installation process freezes.    wal1.

    Hello ATR,
I checked that the Adobe Premiere Elements was not installed.  I verified on the on the uninstall screen in control panel.  I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and 10 installed. When I uninstalled the Adobe Premier Elements 11 I asked it to keep its settings when prompted.
I downloaded the ccleaner.  (backing up the registry settings) last night.
This am, I tried to connect to the internet to check email and such.  My cisco Linksys E420 wifi router stopped talking to my cable providers Motorola Surfboard modem.  Only the top four green lights were on and the yellow blinking PC/activity light failed to light.   Cisco AnyConnect says it can't do anything because there is no internet connection.  I connected  my laptop via Ethernet cable to the cable modem, bypassing the router to get web and email connectivity.
My priority now is to restore function with my wifi service to the household.
The reason that I was troubleshooting and uninstalled the Adobe Premiere Elements 11 was that I have Pixela ImageMixer SE 3 that came bundled with my Canon Vixia HF20 and was trying to restore functionality to the Pixela video library and video editor.  I like the way that it renames sequential .mts files to the format (folder=YYYYMMDD and contained within is the YYYYMMDDTTTTSS.mts) format,  it makes it easier to find files manually through File Explorer.  The Pixela SW was locking up after reinstalling it and gave a window  that said updating files then froze.  The SW is light and simple and provided an alternative to the heavier Premiere.  Pixela Support suggested a SW conflict with another CODEC and suggested uninstalling the Premiere Elements to see if that worked and then reinstalling the Premier Elements from disc. No guarantees that it would work correctly with Windows 8 though.  Premiere Elements then failed to reinstall.
I may be on and off the air until the wifi is working properly.
How do I revert to the old registry settings.  Or, am I better off trying to get the CiscoConnect going by its smart key or other settings.
