Reinstalling Contribute 3

Hello, we just got a new pc and successfully re-installed
Contribute3. However, when I go into Windows Explorer and hilite a
file to delete, Contribute 3 starts to load. I need to cancel in
order to finally get the usual "do you wish to delete this file and
send to the recycle bin". Of course, version 3 is no longer
supported by Adobe so they wouldn't help me.
Can someone tell me how to configure or disable this
sequence?
Thanks,
Steven

  • How can I reinstall Contribute CS3?

I'm having problems with my Adobe products. At first I couldn't uninstall CS3 so I've downloaded Revo Uninstall and managed to delete the programme but I still can't reinstall it. My cd will open, begin to run then just go quiet. I've also bought a copy of Elements 8 which will not install either. Please can someone help ......Please.

Without exact system info, including your network configuration, nobody can realyl say anything. Specific ports being blocked is not a generic failure in teh Adobe software, it's more likely that some security setting or your Internet Router use that same port and things go boom...

  • Reinstall Contribute (CS3) - needs Updater Manager 5.1

Here's my problem.  I had to re-install Contribute on my Mac G5, but when I attempt to do that, the installation stops and asks me to insert Adobe Updater Manager 5.1.  That is not in the installation disk.  I've looked around on my app folder as well as on the Adobe web site.  I cannot find such application.  I cannot get passed that screen.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I wrote Adobe already, but even though the site says I'll hear within 24 hours, I have not received a word back at all -- not even a canned response!
    Egídio

Among random OTHER 'insert disc' requests I got while installing InCopy CS 3 (for Mac), I got this one.  While it DOES ask for Update Manager 5.1 specifically...
Try DLing and MOUNTING the Adobe Updater 5.1.1 update disc image...

  • Contribute CS4 reinstall - import previous site settings

I have reinstalled Contribute CS4 Mac from DVD after a disk crash.  I have a full time machine backup of the previous disk. How can I restore the previous Connection and Website settings?  I am the administrator and want to be able to access all the previously configured group and editor settings.
I trying restoring ~/Library/Adobe/Contribute CS4 which appears to contain my old site settings but they don't show up in the new installation.
    Thanks,

    1) Quit Contribute
    2) Restore "~/Library/Adobe/Contribute CS4"
    2) Also restore "~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Contribute 5 Preferences".
    Hope this solves your problem.

  • Trouble displaying A drop down list in Contribute

I am having trouble with a client that has downloaded Contribute onto their windows computer. The page in question contains a drop-down  nav- bar which I coded using CSS. I have had the page certified by W3 CSS and the html also went through at 100%. It displays perfectly in all browsers and also in my version of Contribute 6.5. My client is also running the same version of Contribute, however the drop-down menu won't render properly in their version of contribute unless they try to edit the page. This is a problem because they rely on the navigation bar to navigate the site for editing. On their version of contribute the navigation bar appears as a lengthy unordered list instead of a smooth drop-down list which appears on all other browsers and versions of Contribute. I have changed the name of the CSS file and its location several times. This hasn't solved the issue. Any suggestions please???

    Hi Dominic,
         Thanks for showing interest.
I spoke to Adobe staff today who were very helpful. They put it down to a bad installation of Contribute. I have suggested to the client to clear the cache and reinstall Contribute tomorrow morning. IE is working fine on my clients machine and shows the page correctly. I will keep you posted on how it goes.
This is how it displays on the same version of Adobe Contribute on my Mac and all browsers.

  • IMac hard drive dies - new one installed - Contribute on Time Machine won't install....

I am looking for help because I've now used up a trial of Contribute on my desktop and laptop.
It's frustrating because I thought I could reinstall Contribute from the backup on my Time Machine drive but in the "Installer" folder it has some images of the logo a few text files and that's it. I've tried to load the program from that drive onto my new drive and no dice.
I now have clients freaking out and I don't know what to do. Had no problem with other programs that were backed up, this has been the only one.
ANY help would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

  • Dreamweaver & Contribute Administration Problem

I've got an odd scenario for a client site that I
inherited after several other developers were involved over the
past 2 years... I fear that the one who created the Contribute
Administration interface is the one where there are some other
legal problems involved, and there is no relationship left. If I
contacted them, they would not cooperate. Sad but true.
What I want to do is remove the previous Contribute linkage
and then reinstall a new Contribute site administration that I can
drive henceforth. I use Dreamweaver MX 2004 (still) and have no
problem at all in accessing a client site via FTP, but the second
problem is that I don't actually have total access to the hosting
server panel as usually is the case. So, if this is going to
involve deleting specific files, I'll need to know what to look for
(if it's within my view) or what to direct the hosting contractor
    to find & delete.
I presently update all content on the existing site design,
but that's not very efficient and it's expensive at my rates for me
to doing the day-to-day content update that the client could easily
manage themselves via Contribute. Every time I first access the
server via Dreamweaver FTP to upload new files, I'm prompted about
enabling Contribute connectivity. I have Contribute, but don't have
this client's Contribute Administration keys or details. Those are
    forever lost, I'm afraid.
I've recently redesigned the site, and it would be ideal to
enable my client to use Contribute. However, I'm caught in a loop
since there is no way to access the orignal Contribute site keys.
How can I find and remove the existing Contribute Administration,
then reinstall Contribute with new Contribute Administration of the
site? If I try to administer the site via Dreamweaver (Manage Site
    - Contribute tab), once it checks through the cache, I get an error
that says "Could not find a page at the specified site root URL.
Please check the site root URL." I'm wondering if the previous
developer may have actually deleted something just to be nasty...
they were pretty vile and unprofessional about a lot of things.
This is far from the typical scenario I'm used to where I
always have total control over the hosting environment, too.
However, relative to an e-commerce component of their site, when
I've had issues and knew what to ask for, the site hosts have been
pretty responsive. I might be able to ask for specific files to be
removed if I could only know what to direct them to do.
    Any ideas? Many thanks.

    > open up a third-party FTP client and log into the remote
    server.
    > Look for a folder named _mm that contains a file named
    contribute.xml
    >
    > delete that file and folder.
    Alternative:
download the contribute.xml file and open it in a text
    editor.
There is a way to reset the contribute Admin password if you
    get this far
and want to leave the setup as-is but don't know the
    password.
i can google for the answer i've given in the past, short
    version of what i
remember, look in the .xml file for
    password="randomcharacters" and change
it to password="" meaning password has no contents.
upload the contribute.xml file to same location on the remote
    server.
then login using contribute admin, and when prompted for
    password don't type
anything, just hit enter key. Then reset the password.

  • Contribute CS4 problem

I have used several versions of Contribute. The most recent install is Contribute CS4. The computer I have been using suffered a hard drive crash and had to be replaced. In trying to reinstall Contribute I am unable to get beyond the 30 day trial because I don't have the serial number of the previous install. Please help me. I use this product to update a website for a non-profit arts group.

You will most definitely need the serial number to go beyond the trial. If it wasn't neccesary, everyone would be doing it.
That being said, if you registered the product with Adobe (you did register, right?), they will have that information available in your Adobe account. Sign in at https://www.adobe.com/account/sign-in.adobedotcom.html?returnURL=http://www.adobe.com/.
If you did not register, a call to customer support (be ready to prove that you own the software) may be in order.
    Good luck.

  • What will happen to Contribute in the future?

I think Contribute has been discontinued or will not show up in the next CS. Reasons:
In the CS5.5-to-CS6 free upgrade offer, It listed a few products that are not eligible for the upgrade: Acrobat, OnLocation, Flash Builder, Flash Catalyst and Contribute. Among them,
OnLocation cannot be purchased individually (so there should be no real reason for it to show up in the first place). Also, OnLocation is dead.
Acrobat and Flash Builder don't follow the CS release schedule (FB4 was out slight before CS5, close enough but still different).
    Flash Catalyst is dead.
Since Contributeis an individual product that follows the CS release schedule, its exclusionmeans either it is excluded from CS in the future, or is outright killed.
In the downloads report found in the Marketing Hub, assets for Ps, Ai, Id, Ic, Fl, Dw, Fw, Pr, Ae, En, Au, ExtendScript, AME, Extension Manager are all found, but not Contribute. Source
But then, the weekly downloads report mentioned the EOL of Device Central and OnLocation, but not Contribute.
And that is leaving me with the question on whether Contribute is still alive, and what is going on there.

    AGP_Philly,
I have been using DW CS6 for a couple of weeks on a site where I still have users making updates using Contribute version 3. The "Administrate this site in Contribute" button in the DW CS6 site manager still opens the dialog after which Windows Task manager reports that Contribute.exe in the CS5.1 folder is running. Of course, I have the server set to use "Transition mode" and we do not use the Contribute Publishing Server.
The major difficulties in this environment with old versions of Contribute is the now-antiquated web client in version 3 not being able to display things as regular users see them. Version 5.1 is better, but not perfect. Using the browser plug-in helps some.
I am annoyed to have to reinstall Contribute from the CS5.5 Master Collection and not have it in the CS6 Master Collection. I had been hoping to entirely uninstall CS5.5 from this computer and just run CS6. As a developer, I'm not inclined to purchase my own copy of Contribute separately from CS6 just to be able to send clients screen captures for documentation. Unless Adobe restores Contribute's place alongside Dreamweaver for the CS bundles, I will probably steer future projects toward database-driven content management rather than using contribute. In fact, I have such a decision coming up this month that could go either way...

  • Dreamweaver can't 'see' Contribute

I have DW8 and Contribute 4 (trial) installed, but DW doesn't
    'know' Contribute is there.
When I try to "Manage Site from Contribute" in DW's site
management dialog box, I get the error message "You must install
Contribute 2 or later, want to do so now?" I've tried reinstalling
Contribute. Nothing. Is there a config file I can tweak, or delete,
and let DW rebuild that will fix this? Tnx much, Neil

Actually, Adobe support did call me and I finally got this
issue resolved. Basically, I needed to uninstall DW and Contribute
in a certain way. This Tech Note,
    http://www.adobe.com/go/4e7826b7,
walked me through that. I then installed DW and Contribute as per
    this Tech Note,
    http://www.adobe.com/go/d2b5934d.
So I first uninstalled DW & Contribute, according to
    http://www.adobe.com/go/4e7826b7.
I then installed DW 8 & Contribute 3, according to
    http://www.adobe.com/go/d2b5934d.
And then I installed the DW 8.0.2 patch.
    Hope this helps.

  • CS5 Contribute crashes with Mac OS 10.9 Mavricks

Any ideas about fixes? I have unistalled and reinstalled Contribute. It continues to crash upon opening.

Update: The uninstaller clearly does not uninstall everything. Something is left on or in the flies is corrupt. I have trashed everthing I could find after an unistall and even things that Apple support helped me find. Still crashes after uninstall and fresh reinstall.
Good News: I found a work around for now. I logged into another user account on the same computer. Contribute CS5 opened, I enter the Key and information, and I have access again. At least I have one way in. The trouble is most of the content I want to add is in the other main user account, so I have to put all files/photos into a shared folder so I can get access.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks

  • Re-installing Contribute 3 onto new PC with Vista

After I've moved all the folders and file across to my new
Pc, and then double click the 'Contribute' icon, the program
doesn't run, but I get an error message "MMxpt has stopped
    working".
    Can anyone help me?

Craig, simply moving your files across to the new pc will not
work, you still need to reinstall contribute using the install
    discs.

  • Adobe Contribute v.6 for Mac keeps crashing

    Hello,
I have Adobe Contribute v.6 for Mac and it keeps crashing.  Here are the troubleshooting steps I have taken, none of which I have provided a permanent resolution.
    1. Trashed the preferences and rebooted - did not help.
    2. Uninstalled Contribute using the uninstaller.  Reinstalled Contribute.  The program launched successfully and worked for a little while, but is now crashing again.  The application looks like it is going to open and goes to the first screen, but then it crashes.
Any help you can provide would be much appreciated!
    Thanks!

Could you please attach the crash report file?
