Reinstalling CS2 in Vista SP1

I have recently used CS2 in vista with no problems. After installing SP1, CS2 will not continue until I log in with proper credential, I'm the admin? Anyone else having these problems?

Try right clicking the Illustrator icon on the desktop then select run as adminisrator.

  • Safari 3.04 Beta and Windows Vista SP1 Beta

I recently had to re-install my system because of a hardware problem. After I installed Vista Ultimate I then installed Vista Ultimate SP1 Beta.
Previously I had just Windows Vista installed without SP1 and Safari worked. Now that I have installed SP1 Beta, Safari will not load. I get an immediate error message that Safari has stopped working.
Has anyone else encountered this problem. If so, can it be fixed?
    Thanks.
    Roy

Exactly the same issue here. All was working fine until Vista SP1 beta was installed. I updated from 3.03 to 3.04 but still no go. Also tried uninstalling then reinstalling to no avail.
Apart from this have not seen any other issues relating to Vista SP1 Beta.

  • I need to reinstall CS2, downloaded from Adobe but when run get serial nr missing, even if I use the one Adobe is providing

Lost my laptop, and now I need to reinstall CS2, in order to install CS3. I downloaded CS2 from Adobe site but when I run the program I get an error message: Your Adobe Photoshop user name, or serial number is missing or invalid. The application cannot continue. I was using the serial nr that Adobe is providing on the CS2 download page.
    Any help much appreaciated

You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
You can make '''Firefox 7.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. • DEP error on CS2 in Vista

I've done some googling and troubleshooting but can't seem to find a fix for this. We've recently "upgraded" to Vista at work. We run Photoshop CS2 (with unfortunately no plans of upgrading in the very near future). Installation of CS2 appeared to be fine, but didn't seem to activate properly. I closed it out, made sure the old copy of CS2 was deactivated on our previous computer. When I reopened CS2 on Vista (64 bit), it asks me to register. Whatever I do with the registration fields doesn't seem to matter, photoshop immediately shuts down with the following Date Execution Prevention error:

I've gone into the DEP settings and manually set it to ignore photoshop and run it without DEP oversight, but it's made no difference.
I thought I'd read that CS2 generally ran fine in Vista (32bit or 64bit), but obviously it's not working here. Any thoughts?

With Vista you have to run the .exe file as Admin.
Also insure that in msconfig, that in the start up tab, Adobe CS2 Service Manager is checked. (least in CS4 it is called that so it should be the same or close to it.
Also if you google PS CS2 and Vista you will see that on a lot of systems there are issues running it.
Edit: also when you do get it up and running to update CS2 and also if you have video card driver problems to update those too.

  • ITunes always crashes on close Vista SP1

I'm running Vista SP1 with the latest version of iTunes. Everytime I close iTunes I get an error message that iTunes has stopped working. I've tried reinstalling itunes and I've reinstalled Vista, but this only briefly fixes the problem. After the first time that iTunes crashes after the new install I get this message again. I would appreciate any help.

If you don't have an itouch or iphone, uninstall AppleSoftware Updater and Bonjour from Control Panel > Add/Remove programs. SOme folks have had luck with that.

  • Vista SP1 - CF Service will not start

Running Vista Business. Life was good, I was productive! (CF 8 btw).
After installing Vista SP1, CF service will not start. Digging a little deeper, turns out JRUN can't fire off "coldfusion", one of the servers listed. Here is the error:
04/06 11:49:20 error Failed to create new connection
    java.net.SocketException: select failed

    at java.net.ServerSocket.accept(ServerSocket.java:421)
    at jrun.jms.core.kernel.mipc.MultiplexConnectionServer.run(MultiplexConnectionServer.java:15 4)
Some digging turned up the possiblity that the jndi.properties file isn't being read. Changed permissions on it to let everyone in. Heck, you guys can probably get at it right now form where you are its so open!
More digging, turns out Windows Firewall like to block port 2930, which is apparently used for internal communication with jndi settings or some such. Opened that up. Found evidence of further internal communication on port 900, opened that up to.
Found this very useful and a bit scary info about missing DLLs and so forth:
    http://www.communitymx.com/content/article.cfm?page=6&cid=224AA
Found reference to the updated Vista TCP/IP stack being a culprit in some cases, which often seemed to come down to, get this, a new host file entry for localhost: ::1  localhost. Commented that out, still no joy.
    Tried reinstalling. Still no go.
Pretty much exhausted all possibilities I was able to think of or find info about.
Any ideas or similar experiences? Or, failing that, the address of a tall building to jump off? Thanks!

Read the manual?!?! No way, never! That would be like... stopping at a gas station to ask for directions!
But seriously, I did poke around there a bit. I do tend to forget that there is more to there is more there than the language reference.
Never been stuck like this though. Probably done over 100 installs dating back to CF4 on just about all windows flavors but have never had to dig in to the guts of the underlying Java like this.
Thinking it has to be something unique to this machine; I have done other Vista installs of CF8 with only minimal issues (typically having to set the service to run under an account that has permissions, maybe even set jrun.exe and jrunsvc.exe to execute under an admin account, but thats about it). Unfortunately, partially because of the environment we operate in, a fresh workstation install is a good day and half to two day ordeal.
Help me Obi Wan, you're my only hope!

  • Vista SP1 Acrobat 8 Pro Freezing

I've had this issue ever since I installed Vista SP1 on my PC. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and updated Acrobat 8 Pro to 8.1.2 - the latest update. As soon as I open the program I have about 5 seconds until it freezes on me, similar to how it did right after Vista came out (before 8.1 update). I've checked my system and I have nothing running that would conflict with it running, other than SP1. I am running Vista Ultimate x64 SP1. If anyone has any ideas, that would be great!!!!

    Hi Errol,
    I share your frustration -
There seems to be a really long thread about this a little further down the topic list.
The problem is that I've spent an hour looking at msgs - finally started at the end (where the topic was XP(!) even tho started out Vista).
Here's a promising link I found somewhere about the middle. The computer I'm having trouble with is at work (and I'm at home on spring break) so I don't know if it will help.
My BIGGEST frustration is that I've been poking around the Adobe site since last November and NEVER found this download!!

Good luck to both of us!

  • Vista SP1 installation aborts

    Hello,
i am using Bootcamp and installed Vista on it. After having BSODs, I installed the nVidia beta mobile driver. That fixed the bluescreens. Afterwards, I tried to install SP1 for Vista, but that seems to be not possible.
The installbar in Vista reaches the end and tells me to reboot. When I hit "reboot" he tries to install it in 3 steps. The first step counts up to 98% and stays there for 5 minutes. Then it says, "Installation not possible. Undoing the changes made to Vista, after reboot I try again."
He reboots, reaches again 98% and fails again. Then SP1 undoes all changes and fails to install.
Any ideas what to do? I searched the internet for a bit, but there seem to be enough people who have the late MBP with vista sp1 on it, and no people having my problem.
    Regards,
    haizhung

    OS X should be fine.
There have been issues with Apple Boot Camp and foreign languages and an issue in the registry - which is outside of what I've dealt with, but others have.
I have to use Google when I run into unknown errors or check Vista newsgroups and forums.

Have you got restore points manually set and automatic? helpful.
Tried booting from Vista DVD and System Repair?

I had to learn as I go and reinstall Vista numerous times since its pre-release as I made mistakes and waiting for better support. And it did get better each time but is time consuming.

  • Vista SP1 -- Driver issues with T61

Vista SP1 is now avaibale through automatic downloads. However, it is not available for my T61. A quick search on the net reveals that there appear to be some issues with the drivers -- finger print and Intel integrated video drivers.
    Are there any workarounds available?
Any idea where one could download the new drivers?
Is anyone else also experiencing these issues?

    Hello,
I have installed the slipstreamed DVD containing Microsoft Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 from MSDN on my T61p and reinstalling the latest downloadable versions of the Lenovo-provided software without any problems, however, that was with a retail installation of Windows Vista and not the Lenovo-provided OEM version.
It could be there is something about your T61's operating environment which prevents the service pack from being displayed on in Windows Update.  Microsoft knowledgebase article #948343, "Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is not available for installation from Windows Update and is not offere..." explains the eight most likely reasons for this, along with steps on how to troubleshoot them.
If none of those seem to apply and you are ready to proceed, here are links to the download pages for Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1:
Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language Standalone (32-bit)
Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language Standalone (64-bit)
Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Release Notes
What you might want to do is back up any valuable data, make sure you have any other files available for software you might need to reinstall in case things go badly, and then try applying the service pack.  I wrote a short note in my personal blog here about some steps to take before installing the service pack—nothing that should really surprising, though.

  • Help CS2 and Vista

    Hi,
I’ve been running CS2 on Vista for about 4 years on my laptop with no problems. Last weekend  I got a Malware virus that had to be removed by McAfee. They made some changes to the Vista OS and also installed Service Pack 2 for Vista. Now CS2 won’t load- it asks me for an authorization code and asked that I activate by phone. The Adobe rep directed me to a support page on the Adobe website and to remove the .DAT files in the program licenses file. I tried this – no go. Also tried to run as administrator- no go.
When I looked thru my hard drive folders, I saw that I have adobe program licenses folders in TWO PLACES
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe Systems\Product licenses
    And
    C:\Qoobox\Quarantine\C\ProgramData\Adobe Systems\Product licenses
I’m guessing here, but It seems like McAfee uninstalled CS2 and then reinstalled it and tried to protect my license in a quarantined folder. In any case, the files in each of  the License folders are different. Should I try to move my “quarantined” files to their original folder? Would this be safe? Would this work?
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions here? I didn’t get much help from Adobe on this. They said that CS2 is too old to give phone tech support. ( even though I bought Photoshop CS5 extended and Lightroom to run on my home computer 2 months ago)
I really would like to get this back because without reinstalling from disc. I have customized many CS2 programs, brushes, actions, printer settings etc, that would be lost if I reinstall and from other forums, It seems that a lot of people are having problems installing from disc to Vista.
    Help!!!

My suggestion is to forget about CS2 and Vista and give serious thought to upgrading...NOW! CS2 is totally unsupported under Vista is the earliest version eligible for upgrade pricing. Why now? Because CS5.5 has already been announced and in the mean time you can get the CS2 to CS5 Design Premium upgrade for $768: http://amzn.to/ekY9fa. That will make you eligible for a free upgrade to CS5.5 when it ships in the next few weeks. http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/153/tn_15304.html
The CS2 to CS5.5 upgrade will cost about $200 more. By buying CS5 now you'll save that $200 and get a free upgrade as well as having a supported combination of software and operating system. You'll also keep yourself eligible for upgrade pricing for the foreseeable future.

  • Help missing for PS CS2 on Vista

I installed both Premiere Pro 2.0 and Photoshop CS2 on Vista. The Help files are available for Premiere Pro 2.0 but not available for Photoshop CS2. Tried all steps outlined in Adobe TechNote 319210 for cases when Help Center content is missing. However, none of these steps solved the problem. Help for Photoshop CS2 is still not listed in Help Center.
Thanks for any tips or directions on getting Help to work for Photoshop CS2 running on Vista.

Thanks for the replies. Tried the following, as suggested, but no success.
    1) Looked in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Help\en_US\ but no Photoshop or Premiere folder. There was an Adobe Reader folder with the Help.html however.
    2) Went to FAQs and followed steps provided in post there. Cleared the Help Preferences, then deleted the Cache, Database, Preferences, and Search folders under ...\AdobeHelpData\. Left the Packages folder with the Photoshop_9.0_en-us.zip and PremierePro_2.0_en-us.zip files, then double clicked the ahc.exe file. Help Center appeared but no indication that rebuilding was taking place, and the Help Center content was empty (not even Premiere Pro). I looked at the directory structure under ...\AdobeHelpData\ and Help Center did rebuild the folders previously deleted.
Restored folders under ..\AdobeHelpData\ to original status and executed Help Center again. As expected, Premiere Pro appeared in the content but not Photoshop CS2.
The product version of Help Center I am using on Vista is 2.1.212002.0.
Tried to reinstall Help Center (using download from Adobe), but installation was aborted. The error mesg only said that a problem occurred, but gave no details.
I do not think this is a Vista problem since Help Center works fine with Premiere Pro 2.0. However, not sure.
Is there anything else I can try?

  • Error 1935 - unable to install Reader 8.1.2 on Vista SP1

I know that others have posted on this issue, but neither of the suggested fixes have worked for me. The 'fsutil' command prompt had no effect, and Ghaurav's suggestion of defeating the uninstall by copying all the files from the directory and replacing them resulted in an 'invalid plugin' error every time I tried to start Reader.
Is anyone from Adobe monitoring this forum? Any others out there having this problem, or have a fix?

OK, the final chapter. Microsoft tech support had me run a system file checker utility. The command line is 'sfc /scannow'. The utility reported that I had corrupt system files, but I still have no idea how that happened. I was unable to roll back the installation of Vista SP1, so I ended up reinstalling Vista (and every other program I have) from scratch. It took a full day of installing, upgrading restoring my backed up files, but I ended up with a clean version of Vista SP1, and the adobe problem is gone.
Does this story have a happy ending? No. I decided to run SFC on my laptops. I have corrupt system files on my office laptop, and it's interfering with installing XP SP3. No other symptoms, so I'll ignore XP SP3 for as long as I can.

  • Outlook 2003 on Vista SP1

    Hello,
    I've just installed OCFO 10.1.3.0.9 on a freshly-reinstalled system (Vista SP1 + Office 2003 SP3), and I've noticed the two following problems:
    * My "Inbox" folder is updated properly as I start Outlook (either headers or full message bodies, depending on my Send/Receive settings), but after this, it is merely impossible to update any other folder!!!
This means: when you click on a subfolder, the content is not downloaded and the folder remains empty. Nothing more when you click on Send/Receive (even "Inbox" is no longer updated). Nothing more when you "Reset" the folder.
    * In Control Pannel > Mail, when I try to delete a profile, the control pannel Mail dialog (rundll32.exe) just crashes as I click on the "Delete" button.
These two problems — and especially the first one — are seriously annoying. Have you already experienced them? Any workaround or solution to solve them?
    Thanks for your help!
    ArnaudG

I too had this problem, and rolling back to 10.1.3.0.7 has allowed me to manipulate profiles again. Sadly, I am still having an error concerning: "The Oracle Connector for Outlook could not connect to one or more servers in your profile."
    Still playing with it.

  • OS X not booting after Vista SP1 upgrade

Ok, so I have this really bad problem with my OS X drive.
It's stuck at the grey screen with the loading thing continuously loading without starting OS X.
This all happened after I upgraded my Vista to Service Pack 1.
When going back to Vista a pop-up appeared (from Mac Drive 7).
    http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/2734/capturehu8.jpg - The Pop-up.
Also had a pop-up that said the drive was corrupt.
I've tried using my Leopard install Disc to use Disk Utility, but it can't verify/check or repair my OS X drive.
Tried to reinstall OS X, but it asks me where I want to install it on, but doesn't show me any partition.
Now what can I do to fix it? (preferably without erasing anything)
Also, I've been thinking about completely removing OS X and replacing it with Vista...is it possible and could I still reinstall OS X later if I wanted to?

I've read bad reviews of MacDrive causing corruption.
I use Ultimate and its complete backup PC and file backups so covered there. And same for OS X with multiple SuperDuper clones along with a TimeMachine backup. Covers that side.
Vista SP1 needed to move files around a lot and some 5-7GB (depends on version etc) temp space during the process. So I ran CHKDSK and System File Checker before hand. And boot from Vista DVD and see if you can do anything if those two don't help.
One of the biggest problems is getting too low on disk space.
For OS X, I swear by Disk Warrior 4.1. I would install OS X on an external drive rather than use the DVD, make it your "emergency boot drive" and run DU and Disk Warrior from there.
Those that have backups are ready. And always backup your OS X volume before you apply updates and patches on it as well. You may never need to if you plan for and do some maintenance.
I'd dump MacDrive though. And for OS X, I feel safe / okay with NTFS from MacFUSE 3G.
