Reinstalling CS4 on new mac

Hi, I am having several problems reinstalling CS4 Design premium on my new mac with Mountain Lion. Time machine backup reinstall didnt work I kept getting licensing no longer works 150:30 error. So I contacted Adobe and they told me I had to reinstall from the original disks which I tried to do. However, I keep getting a Adobe Air error where it prompts me to download the new version and then the installation hangs and it tells me this version is not compatible with CS4 and I have to contact the vendor to get an older version.
I went back to Adobe and they sent me Air2.7 which has now helped - although I still get the error it comepletes some installation. I now have dreamweaver and acrobat pro working. However, I would really like to get flash and fireworks working. However, when I try and install on the setup menu I cannot scroll down the setup menu and cannot view any of the lower options in the menu. It just won't let me view them cannot tab or arrow down and no scroll bar - Any ideas ?
I have also tried uninstalling everyything and doing a full reinstall - running clean up tool in between but then I have the air problem again ! It seems if I have air installed already I go to a different setup menu screen where I have to choose which options I want to install and am unable to choose anything lower down the menu and there is no choose all option.
Any ideas how to get CS4 installed on a Mac with mountain lion successfully ? Any ideas how to view the whole of the setup menu - no option to pull the box bigger on maximise it as far as I can see.
Thanks
F

Franniehhk the behavior you are currently experiencing is fully expected when trying to restore from a Time Machine backup.  To attempt to recover from this action you can try running the uninstallers located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers followed by using the CS Cleaner tool.  From your original post it appears you have already done this however.
This leaves one last option.  Format, reinstall your OS, and then restore only your documents and settings from the Time Machine back up.  You should then be able to install the software successfully from your installation files.
Adobe Creative applications are not designed to be copied from one computer to another which is basically what the Time Machine restore is doing.  This is why the applications are not behaving properly on your new Macintosh.

  • Problem installing CS4 onto new Mac OS X

    Can someone please help me?!
I have just tried to install my Photoshop CS4 Extended onto my brand spankin' new Mac computer and when I tried to open the application this message comes up:
"You can't open the application 'Adobe Photoshop SC4' because it is not supported on this architecture". What exactly does this mean?
I have the latest IMac so I don't see why this would be a problem.

    Hi Cherry!
Usually this happens, when Photoshop CS4 was not successfully installed.
    Reinstall it.
If the option to install Photoshop CS4 is not available, de-install it first. Either use the installer or manually remove the Adobe Photoshop CS4 folder.
    Cheers,

  • Need to reinstall OS on new Mac Book air

I purchased a new mac book air and migration assistant overwrote the whole hard drive.  I want to red o migration assistant and select only some applications.  How do i reinstall mavericks and all the applications to the original state? Computer came with no disks??

What you are trying to do is erase the storage and reinstall Mac OS X.  To do that, restart the MBA and hold the Command and R keys.  That will restart you on the recovery hard drive partition, what Apple now uses instead of an install DVD.
From the menu bar, select Utilities, then Disk Utility.  Highlight the internal storage name in the left side bar, usually Macintosh HD, and then select Erase in the button bar top center of the main window pane.
After the storage is erased, Quit Disk Utility and from the Utilities on the menu bar select Install Mac OS X.  That will download the Mavericks installer and reinstall the operating system.  This will take some time as the installer is about 5.1 GB...you need a good internet connection because this is downloaded from Apple's servers.  Also, be sure you are plugged into a wall outlet and not running on battery power.  You do not want the machine to shutdown during this.
After you have reinstalled, you are at the out-of-the-box form of the MBA and will have to resetup all of your information from scratch.

  • How to activate CS4 on new Mac which does not have CD/DVD drive?

One answer to this elsewhere in the foum was to copy the discs to a thumb drive, then copy them to the new computer, then use those to install CS4 (or any pre-Cloud version) on the new machine. This works for disc-1. But there's no way to "install" disc-2 or to make the half-complete installation process pick up disc-2. How can I install CS4 on my new Mac?

Download the installation files and use those to install.

  • Installing InDesign CS4 on new Mac computer

I just purchased a new Mac computer with the OS X 10.9 software. I'm trying redownload my InDesign CS4 from the adobe site and it's not letting me download the program? Any suggestions?

CS4 would definitely not be supported in 10.9, but it may work. The user will be on their own because it's an older, untested version.

  • Reinstall OSX on New Mac Pro

    Hi,
I have a new Mac Pro and I want to rebuild it. I have a bootable USB Key that I made with the 10.9 installer from the App Store. This installer works as a bootable image for the old Mac Pro's and for MacBook pro's, but I can't get a new Mac Pro to boot from it. I think the issue might be that it is a different 10.9 revision that the new Mac Pro requires. Has anyone successfully done this yet on the new Mac Pro?
    Thanks
    Dave

You would need to do a full Internet Recovery like so:
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
    1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    2. After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.

some one tell me new MAC os is clone software..not stable
and he tell me i need to reinstall os X to new MAC
then the new MAC will become stable ??
SO??did i need to do that?

    Hi chill2k;
It has been my experience that the factory install of the operating system by Apple is generally good and it is an extremely rare occurrence when a reinstall is required.
Anyone that will not accept that fact doesn't deserve to had time wasted on them. Forget about them. There is better things to do in this life.

  • How do I deactivate my existing photoshop on an old mac and reinstall into my new Mac?

how do I deactivate photoshop cs% from my old Mac and reinstall it into my new Mac?  thanks!  guy

You are allowed to have the software installed and activated on two machines so there is no requirement to deactivate on the old one... but you can.
If you do not have the discs for CS5 and need to download it, then you can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site or else the download will not work properly.

  • Reinstall CS4 on new computer

I have Education version of Adobe CS4 and have installed on my desktop and laptop.  My desktop hard drive has corrupted and has to be replaced and I have to reinstall all software.  Can I reinstall Adobe CS4 on new computer or do I need to request deactivation of one of my 2 permitted installations somehow first?

You had the software on two machine on your desktop and laptop , hence you used your 2 activations , then your desktop hard drive got corrupted and is replaced , hence you never got the oppurtunity to de-activate hence you can install the software but will not be able to use on the desktop , however everything will work fine on your laptop.
Contact Adobe , get the activation count resetted and then you will be good to go.

  • Reinstalling CS4 after upgrading Mac OS

I have CS4 student edition installed on my Macbook
I am currently running OS 10.5.8 on my Macbook and need to upgrade.
Will CS4 run on higher versions of OSx ?
Will I have to reinstall CS4 after I upgrade? If I do have to reinstall does Adobe allow multiple installations on the same PC?

cs4 is listed as compatible with lion, mt lion and mavericks: http://roaringapps.com/apps
you might be able to upgrade your os and have no problem with your installed apps including cs4.  but the safest way to proceed is to deactivate your current installation (help>deactivate), uninstall and then reinstall and reactivate after your os upgrade.

  • Error: 6 after reinstalling CS4 on new Macbook (Mavericks) from back up drive (no CD-rom drive).

My old Mac died. I purchased a new Macbook Pro with Mavericks. I had purchased CS4 installation discs, but cannot use them to reinstall the software since the new computer does not have a CD-rom drive. I tried to reinstall the Adobe software from my back up drive. When I try to open the software, I receive an error message: "Error: 6." The steps listed on other postings for correcting this problem do not work, and I obviousuly cannot reinstall the software without a disc drive. Is there a way to reactive the license?
Things I've learned while trying to remedy this problem:
-- There is no FlexNet Publisher file to delete -- it doesn't exist in my file system.
-- License Recover App won't open (isn't supported by my system)
-- Changed all permissions to "Read and Write" -- still get Error: 6
    Now what?
