Trying to reinstall Design Premium 5.5 on a Mac OSX 10.7.5 - once downloaded to my computer it will not install due to error message "Install" can't be opened. You should eject the disk image.

no, redownload using a different browser from prodesigntools.com
if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here: Download Adobe CS5.5 Trials: Direct Links (no Assistant / Manager) | ProDesignTools
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a problem starting the download, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com or initiates the download of an incorrect (eg, current) version.

I get this every time i try to open the installer. I went to the tech support desk at my university and they spent an hour and a half going through these procedures with no result:
Disabled GateKeeper
Repaired permissions and verified startup disk
Fully updated OS 10.8.5
Downloaded same image multiple times-same issue
Cleared hard drive space from 4.5GB available to 26GB available

I used migration to send photos form my Mac Book to my I Mac now i get an error message "iPhoto can not be opened because of a problem" Check with the developer to make sure iPhoto works with this version of Max OSX. You may need to install any available updates or reinstall IPhoto.
I tried installing Iphoto it said it was downloaded successfully. I still get the error messafe, and can not open any photos of program, any suggestions?What version of iPhoto do you have on the Macbook and on the iMac? What systems are you running on the Macbook and on the iMac?
Does the message only refer to "a problem" or does it specify what it is?

I updated my itunes to 11 and found out my phone and ipod were not compatible. I uninstalled it and reinstalled 10.7 but now I get an error message when I try to open itunes saying "the file cannot be read because it was created by a newer verison" What do I do?

i have ouight a new mac and i need to install my design premium education edition onto it.
i have been advised by an adobe chat representative to copy the contents from my original disk to my usb and then copy the contents from the usb to my mac hard drive since there is no disk drive.
I have done this but the intall and run icons are not recognised and say that they are for a windows app.
the representative assured me it was as simple as copying over and installing.
i have been asked for a serial number, but i can not find this on any of the packaging or disks. i only have my activation key, and my product code which is a 2 digit code with numbers and letters.

thank you for your reply. i have started the download, but as i said before, i dont have a serial number on any of my packaging which is where the 'find my serial number' page sugests to look.... what should i do, as when the download is complete it says in the notes that i will be expected to enter my serial number?

My Macbook Pro will not start anymore after the update.
When I try to Reinstall Mac OS X Lion using the Recovery by choosing the partition, I got an error message saying that it protected. What should I do?Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS. -

Manually download the files to your computer (right-click on the url). When the file is downloaded to your computer do you get the same message when you try to open in Reader through the File->Open menu? What about when you open the file in Mac's Preview application?

You may want to make sure you're installing the right version of itunes. If you have a 64bit system, you will need to make sure to download and install the 64bit version of iTunes.

I have a Mac Pro OS 10.7.5 and have a DVD+R disc with files on it, but it ejects the disk after about 10 seconds--what to do? How can I get the data off this disc? I can see it has been already burned, so files are on there?
Try cleaning the lens and see if that will restore functionality to the DVD drive. Use a DVD lens cleaning disk, if you have a can of compressed air, shoot some into the slot or wrap a fine microfiber cloth (eyeglasses cleaning cloth) around a business card and insert it gently inside the slot.
If no success, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and get a free diagnosis from them.

I just used stellar phoenix mac data recovery and it seemed to work but now my files won't open. Even though they are "jpeg, mov" files, the error message is "could not be opened". The movie's file format isn't recognized. " Any help or are they corrupted?
Sounds to me like the file is probably corrupt. If you had hard drive corruption or damage, that could easily result in recovered files not being fully intact. If you were trying to recover accidentally deleted files, it's possible they might have been partially overwritten before recovering. There are never any guarantees with file recovery.
Without more information on the circumstances that led you to try recovery, it's hard to give advice on what to try from here. You could always try another file recovery tool, like Data Rescue 3. Just be sure you're taking appropriate precautions when doing recovery. See Recovering deleted files. -
My system is a Macbook Pro running Mac Os 10.6.7 with a 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 duo processor with 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 ram. The upgrade downloads fine, but when I try to drag the firefox image onto my appication folder, I get a dialogue box that says...Cannot install application because "libsmime3.dylib" is in use. I can run Firefox fine from the disk image.
Nope---didn't work. I've owned Macs for about 12 years so although I am brain dead on some things, I do have a working knowledge on most things. I only say that to say this--I did try holding down the mouse and choosing empty trash. It asks if I want to permanently delete what's in there. I say yes--and then I get the same identical message again-----'The operation can't be completed because the item "Firefox 8.0.1.dmg" is in use I can then click stop, or continue.' So apparently that complains the same way it does if I click it up on the menu :)))
As for item owned by---that's not an issue and isn't coming up. User is not a problem either as I am the only user on this system. There is only ONE file in my trash at the moment at that is this dmg file. Nothing Mac. Nothing owned by anyone other than Firefox. The problem seems to be that the dmg file and the original 4.0 FF file are working in tandem with each other--even though I have already drug the new 8.0 globe into the Apps folder and it updated the FF app with the new stuff. If I could force the dmg file to go away, I would do so, but at every turn the system is telling me it can't be done because it seems to think that dmg file is in use---even though everything is shut down and/or ejected. Hey--I'm getting ready to head out and won't be back till evening. I'll check back in this evening. Thank you again for your help. -

I have recently run across a very similar issue and wondering if you ever got to the bottom of yours.
I have been using an iMac for 2 years with a Synology drive and no issues. A few days ago I bought a new Macbook Air and when I connect to the Synology server some files are greyed out and will give the message above.
What is strange is there does not seem to be a pattern. I have two excel files in the same directory one is fine and the other is greyed out. The greyed out file is only a later copy of the OK file.
Everything is still working fine on the iMac it is only the Air that has the issue. Both machines are on the latest patches of Lion. -
Tried to buy Aperture 3 and got an error message Aperture can’t be installed on “Macintosh HD” because Mac OS X version 10.7.2 or later is required. You can update Mac OS X using Software Update. Problem is, I had already updated my IMac to Lion OS
iPhoto 9.3 requires OS X 10.7.4 now. You can use your actual version of iPhoto or upgrade to Lion (or wait to Mountain Lion)

I have downloaded "Lightroom_5_LS11_mac_5_7.dmg" for Mac to update my Lightroom 5.6 (build 974614) but when I attempt to open it I get the following error message "Lightroom_5_LS11_mac_5_7.dmg can't be opened as the disk image is not recognised". Vk2mh it sounds like the download was not complete or corrupted. Where are you downloading the update from? Have you tried downloading again?
