Reinstalling golive 6

I am having a problem installing Go live 6 on a clean XP install
it keeps giving me an invalid serial number issue
I have checked with Adobe and the serial number is a valid number
but they no longer will support golive 6
I have golive 9 but I am not allowed to upgrade to the new version
untill I have all of the other sites upgraded also (I support over 150 other sites that are currently running golive 6)
does anyone have any ideas on hot to get my copy of Golive 6 installed?

Ralph,

Sites are not running any particular website creation application: they just reflect the current html. If you have a legitimate 9, you can just install and use it.
Strange thing about the serial number, though.

  • Cant reinstall GoLive 6.0.

I just did a clean install of Windows XP, and I cannot reinstall GoLive 6.0. I get the message "Invalid Serial Number". I saw the thread posted a few months back, but no solution was posted. I just spoke to knowledgeable Adobe Technical Support representative. He confirmed my serial number was valid, but he could not find a fix. However, something he said made me think this could be a Windows or Internet Explorer 7 issue. I have three computers, but unfortunately all are up to date Windows-wise (SP2 & I.E. 7), and I get the same error on all of them.
So, has anyone else hit this problem, and more importantly figured out how to solve it? This is really hurting me. Aside from the cost to upgrade, I dont have time to learn new software right now. And I really need to edit my site.
One more question: Will GoLive 5.0 work on Windows XP? (And would I be able to open and edit the site I created on GoLive 6.0)?

I'll join in here, but take all my details as possibly wrong and check behind me...I'm having a similar problem and have run it through tech support w/o resolution yet, either. I thought I might do an experimental workaround, because I have it running fine on another computer with XP Home, so I copied my 6.0_ENG from Program Files >> Adobe>>GoLive 6.0_ENG, made a duplicate folder on the second computer (XP Pro)and pasted it in. I launched via GoLive.exe (It's actually 6.0.1.0) directly and I got an error message, "Cannot Retrieve Serial Number Information." I thought, well maybe that's stored in the preferences file, so I went to copy/paste that, too, into the Doc & Settings Application Data>> but what's probably my 5.0 preferences file was already there, and (inside an Adobe folder, not an Office or Outlook folder) the .prf extension was assigned to open with MS Outlook. Maybe the .prf extension has been reassigned/overridden???? Changing it to open w/ GoLive through Control Panel >> Folders just messes up Outlook. I don't know if that's even where the serial number is stored, but perhaps the problem might lie with the confused extensions. Anybody else showing a potential conflict like this?
(And to the above, mine is an upgrade from 5.0 Educational version but I am not following a clean XP install, just trying to add GoLive to a computer that has other issues that I'm trying to unscramble so I can just work on one (Large) site). I installed 5.0 with no problem and can use that v.

  • Reinstall Golive 8.01 (Upgrade/ download) to iMac 10.6.3

How can I reinstall Golive from my old iMac 10.4.11 to the new one 10.6.3?
I copied GL from the application folder, but after starting it tells me:
"Bei einer erforderlichen Programmbibliothek wurde ein Fehler erkannt; die Anwendung kann nicht weiter ausgeführt werden. Installieren Sie die Anwendung neu. (-8)"
"With a required program library, an error is detected, the application can not continue running. Install the application again. (-8)."
I have only an old GL 6.0 on CD, but my 8.0 files cannot be opened with this.
    So what can I do?

That is not always a good idea. Running the installer is better.
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/golive/mac/
Tryout versions are here. These accept serial numbers to become full versions. I do not know how they behave as upgrades.
You're probably better off keeping your old iMac to run GoLive. As you introduce newer hardware and operating systems, more quirks may appear in GoLive. GoLive was never intended for Intel processors or Snow Leopard.

  • Golive crashes on opening website

I have been using golive 6 on my machine for two years now and just recently it started acting up. I have windows vista basic, and plenty of ram. Now what happened yesterday is that it was crashing when i would try to open particular pages but it got worse. Now it crashes when I try to open the website itself.
I did all the stuff like clearing temp files and cookies. Also I reinstalled golive and even updated to 6.0.1.
It created a whole bunch of back up sites after crashing so many times. I think I have about 50 backups now. I really don't even know which one to click anymore.
I even got so desparate that i used system restore and went back to an earlier date.
I'm at my wits end with this anymore. Golive has always been very buggy in the past but this is rediculous. I'm thinking that I'm not going to be able to open my site which I worked on for a long time now.
    Please help!
    Bob

First, what are your sequence settings and clip settings?  Are your scratch disks formatted macosextended?
Try opening the latest version of the project with your scratch drive disconnected.  Does it open?  If so, the problem is probably that one of the renders is corrupted.  You're probably going to have to rerender as it's almost impossible in my experience to reconnect renders.
Has anyone every successfully reconnected renders?

  • Error When Publishing "no access to internet (internet module not loaded)"

When publishing a site in GoLive 9 I get the message""no access to internet (internet module not loaded)".
i've never had this problem before, this just started happening and cant figure out how to get it to work again. it's weird because i can connect to my ftp server from the file menu and the internet module is checked on in my preferences. i've tried creating a new site file for my webpages and reinstalling GoLive and nothing has worked.
has anybody had the same problem? thx!

ha, ok i just figured it out. i didn't have the proper ftp setting in the publish preferences. i hadn't changed the info in the "server name" from the place holder text that was automatically inserted. that's a strange error message to display for that!!!

  • Help menu help loads After Effects 7 Help

Using Golive CS2, when I go to the help menu and choose Golive Help, After Effects 7 help opens instead, with a dropdown menu that has no listing for Golive Help. I just reinstalled Golive CS2, the update, and a help update to no effect.

First, ensure you have the latest help centre and Golive Help package:
    Help Centre 2.1:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3171
    Help Package: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3091
*Ensure the file GoLive_8.0_en-us.zip is in the Adobe Help
    Centre\AdobeHelpdata\Packages folder.*
There are a couple of Techdocs relating to the Help Centre:
331717 Help window doesn't appear when you start Adobe Help Center
    (Windows XP, 2000)
    http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/331717.html
319210 Adobe Help Center is missing content or returns the error, "The
topic you want to view applies to a CS2 product you have not installed."
    http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/319210.html
    If those don't help:
    1. Try deleting the Help Preference file by holding down CTRL+ALT+SHIFT
    whilst starting Help.
    2. Assuming ahc.exe is located in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center,
    delete the following folders
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData\Cache
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData\Database
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData\Preferences
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData\Search
The only folder under C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData
you should have left is one called packages.
    Run ahc.exe
What should happen is that your help centre database should get rebuilt
(you will see progress messages as it process each help package) and
    everything should work.

  • Getting CS2 to open files on double-click

I searched for a solution to this annoyance assuming it must common but wasn't able to find a thread. Apologies in advance if I missed it.
Photoshop CS2 has been on this notebook for a couple years. It is activated and registered and runs perfectly. I believe when I installed it that, being a chicken, I did for a while leave a prior version of Photoshop, maybe CS or even v7, installed, but lated uninstalled.
I'd like to be able to double-click on a file, like a .TIF, and have Photoshop CS2 open it. They always come up on the Windows Picture and FAX viewer.
I've gone to Windows Explorer, right-clicked on a .TIF and chosen Open with. . . then Choose Program. . . (CS2 isn't even on the "Programs" list in the Open with dialog.)
I browse to the CS2 folder, choose the Photoshop CS2 program .EXE file, and then the file is oped in the Windows Picture and FAX viewer! I've tried everything I can think of, other than a complete uninstall and reinstall.
When I run Photoshop CS2 I can open any compatible file and everything in every way seems fine with it. I also have CS2 on a desktop and that install has no problem.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Wayne

Sorry for the delay, been on a heavy assignment.
I ran the Photoshop CS2 (actually Creative Suite CS2) Installer again. I reinstalled (uninstall followed by install) all key components, but this time actually didn't reinstall GoLive and Version Cue which I do not use.
After 30 minutes of the uninstall and reinstall and going through 4 discs, the problem still is there. If I try to add Photoshop CS2 under XP's "Open With" it is still not on the list and when I browse for it, and select the Photoshop CS2 .exe file, and click OK, it has NOT accepted it. No error, it just comes back acting like a spoiled child. Grrr.
However, understand I can run Photoshop CS2 and open the same file or drag files from Windows explorer and drop on Photoshop CS2 and it opens them fine. OK, I did choose to keep user preferences, but I didn't think that meant that the software was to continue to act in a relatively brain dead manner :-)
bTW, this behavior is true for .TIF, .JPG, and .GIF files at least.
    Again, any help appreciated.

  • Components unavailable?

Recently had to reinstall GoLive CS... I can see all my Files in FILES tab, but in EXTRAS tab I used to be able to see my Components, but they are not showing up...? At the top, it shows the correct .data folder, and if I click the "UP" folder, I see the Components and other Extras. How do I get them to show up in the window? Do I use "Add Files"?
    thanks!

Hmmm... where's your current .site file? Usually that's in the same directory as the .data and .settings folder, but I don't see it in your screenshot. Maybe that's part of the problem?
Otherwise, may as well go through how to re-build the site file, since it's a good troubleshooting step for site-wide issues. I'm using GoLive CS2 on a Mac, so pardon any slight differences, but should work something like this from the top menu:
File > New > Site > Create Site
Then, from the first screen of the site creation wizard, choose "Site from Existing Content".
On the next screen, choose "From a Local Folder of Existing Files"
On the next screen, it'll ask where the main site root folder is (your "studio3d" folder). Point to that folder, and you also may need to specify which is the home page for the site. Then let the wizard do its magic, and when prompted, save the new studio3d.site file right beside studio3d, studio3d.data and studio3d.settings so they're all in the same directory level.
Then quit out of GoLive, and re-open by double clicking on the new .site file (instead of however else you're getting the site open). Any difference?

  • Crashing When Editing Pages

Everytime I go to edit a page on my website through GoLive it freezes. I can't type anything without it going not responding and closing.
I've tried reinstalling GoLive as well as opening a backup copy and nothing works. Please help! I need to add things to my website, but can't.
I've also tried disabling my firewall and antivirus and nothing works.
    Thanks!
    Dave

Does this happen with any site and any page? Try, for example, creating a new site and editing a blank page in it?
If its only one page, then there may be something specific to the page causing GoLive to crash. Try opening it in source mode and doing a Check Syntax on it.
If its one site, try recreating the site file using Import from Folder
If that doesn't help, try removing GoLive's preference files:
    Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe GoLive\
Try removing the *.prf file on its own first, and if that doesn't work, try removing the entire contents of that folder.

  • I can't reinstall my Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 Upgrade (which was bought against Adobe Golive 6)

I worked with it since 2009 and now following a crash I need to reinstall on Windows 8.1 but impossible as Golive is not anymore in the options proposed as fromer version. No possibility to contact customer service. Any idea how to manage this and recover my software back...I am completely stuck
    Thx for help

I think you're right, you're stuck. Neither GoLive or CS3 are supported by Adobe anymore and I've never seen anyone install GL on Windows 8, which is what you would need to do first in order to install the CS3 "from GoLive" Upgrade version.
I think your only real options would be to pick up a copy of DWCS6: Creative Suite 6 (outdated and not receiving updates, but still available from Adobe)
Or get a subscription to the Creative Cloud (you get a discount on the first year as a previous owner of CS3): Creative Cloud pricing and membership plans | Adobe Creative Cloud
Through the CC subscription you can install DWCS6, CC and CC 2014.1 all as separate installations.

  • Cannot install GoLive 8.01 0n new MacBook Pro/Snow leopard

Purchased a brand new MacBook Pro (with the new Snow leopard) so I could leave my house and still work.
The most important application I use is Adobe golive CS2 8.01.
I have the 6.0 disk, and the upgrade registration number but they will not install in the MacBook Pro/Snowleaopard. I've tried 50 times. It will allow an install of the 6.0, but says my registration number is invalid for the upgrade.
Adobe doesn't support the product anymore on any level. I'm beside myself. The laptop is worthless to me without that application.
I've tried replacing the keylogin, prefs reinstalls etc... nothing.
I'm desperate. If anyone has any ideas, please help.

Downgrading, install GL, then upgrade sounds like a good move. Let me know if it works... if you do it. I understand the frustration of having to go to all this trouble. I've had my share of problems lately. First my MBP hard drive went bad. Had to reinstall everything. Then I took it on a trip so I could keep up with client work, and it died again. Took it to Apple in Portland, Maine. They had to ship it off for repairs again. This time the Logic Board and Video Display. Now my G5 is acting up again. Often too busy to deal with it.
I'll follow along to see how things go for you. Keep us posted if you would.

  • I am having problems reinstalling Acrobat 7

Hi, I'm an owner of ancient G5 Mac and CS2 Premium, which I had to reinstall this week. This means also GoLive2 and Acrobat7 in the package. The links you provide are apparently CS2 Standard. I can download GoLive2 separately, but I can't see ANY possibility to get a Macintosh version of Acrobat Pro 7. I don't care much about GoLive, but Acrobat is a crucial tool for me. Could you please add a new link or give me a precise instruction if I miss something? Thanks a lot.

Well, your hint misses the point, because I have no problem with Photoshop error massages themselves but with the special incompatibility that occurs when Photoshop and Acrobat are installed as parts of two different Creative Suite copies (in this case one is Standard, and the other is Premium).
But I found a solution. I deleted the copy of Photoshop that came with the suite and instead downloaded and installed a standalone version.
So to complete a Premium set:
    - Acrobat Pro comes from the original media
    - Illustrator, InDesign (also Bridge and VersionCue if you use them) come from linked CS Standard images.
    - Photoshop comes from linked standalone image.
    - GoLive comes from linked standalone image.
Kind of patchwork but tried and true.
BTW, there's one more issue related to those versions with disabled activation - AutoUpdater doesn't work for them either. Fortunately, the complete update history with corresponding download links is still there on adobe.com so no problem to install all the updates manually.
    Best,

  • Installing GoLive CS2 with Master Collection CS3

I have just taken possession of a beautiful new system with the full Adobe Master Collection already installed by my computer guru man. The new system is very fast etc but I kept with XP 'cos had heard too many horror stories about Vista.
After getting the computer home (I live 2 hours drive away from the guru) I remembered that I forget to ask him to install my old CS2 GoLive with menumachine. I need to have GoLive (and the wonderful Menumachine) to update my GoLive sites. For a while anyway.
He thinks I should be very careful about just installing GoLive with the new CS3 collection because it could cause problems like "some of the shared components may overwrite the new CS3 versions" (whatever that means) He said I should have installed the old version of GoLive before installing CS3 to make this less likely. He said I might be best to uninstall the Master Collection. Start again and install GoLive CS2 first and then the CS3 next. He suggested I ask you.
Has anyone been down this path?
Also I still have GoLive CS2 installed and active on my old PC, will I be allowed to legally install it on the new one too? Or will that count as piracy and cause problems? I also have it on another little computer I have that I use (very rarely) as a kind of laptop.
My new computer has a two hard disks a C-drive and a D-drive - I was wondering if it would help if I installed GoLive CS2 on the D disk - everything is currently on the C disk.

If it were up to me, I would only have GL on two systems per the license
    agreement.
Then, I would try installing GL CS2 and if everything works, great. If not,
then uninstall the Adobe stuff and reinstall it as your guru suggested.

  • CS2 Reinstalled - Now Won't Open

Several weeks ago, iMac G5 crashed.  Reinstalled Mac OS (archive and install) and updated all the way back to 10.4.11.  Moved files from Previous System to new System.  Clearly didn't get 'em all moved.  Photoshop CS2 was a  little erratic, but it worked.  (Illustrator CS2 worked fine).
Several days ago, a handful of fonts totally disappeared from Suitcase Fusion, which, until then has been quite reliable.  (Fonts couldn't be found anywhere on computer.)  Suitcase Fusion support recommended reinstalling the application and then recreating Suitcase Fusion's Font Vault.  Successfully completed.
Then Photoshop wouldn't open.  Decided it was time to uninstall CS2 and reinstall it.  Followed Adobe's enclosed pdf of uninstall instructions.  Clearly didn't get me totally installed because the installation DVDs wouldn't allow the reinstall.  Detective work led to removing more obtuse files.  Ah-ha.  Now, CS2 DVDs would allow installation.  Installed successfully.  Ran all upgrades.
Now Photoshop and Illustrator won't open.  (I don't use InDesign or GoLive.  Haven't tried Acrobat.)  Both Photoshop and Illustrator go thru almost all their process of opening and then, just before opening should be complete, they crash.  In the "Report to Apple" window, both reveal almost the same problem:
    PHOTOSHOP
    Exception:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
    Codes:      KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0xbf7ffad0
    ILLUSTRATOR
    Exception:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
    Codes:      KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0xbf7ffaa0
Suggestions to get me back on track would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Bill

Thanks for the suggestions, but still no luck.
    1) Photoshop failed to open in an alternate user.  Same error message in the "Send to Apple" window.
    2) The machine is maxed out at 2GB RAM.  I've not opened the case in more than 6 months.  "About this Mac" says there's 2GB RAM.
A thought -- should I try to uninstall all of Photoshop and Illustrator again and then reinstall only these two applications?  (Acrobat and InDesign open just fine after the reinstall of a couple of days ago.  I didn't install GoLive b/c I don't use it.)
If yes, can someone point me to better instructions for uninstalling Photoshop and Illustrator than the incomplete information in the "How to Uninstall" on the first disc of the CS2 installation set?  As I wrote earlier, when I use these instructions several days ago, all the applications were grayed-out in the installer b/c components were still scattered about.  Using Spotlight, I searched for every single file that seemed to have something to do w/ the various CS2 applications, deleted those files, and then the installer showed the applications as active.  That's when I executed the reinstall that has only half the applications working.
My continued thanks for any guidance ...

That is Co-Author, a much stripped-down tool based on GoLive, but not GoLive. You have probably installed using the Co-Author serial number rather than the GoLive serial number. Features are switched on based on the serial number. If you have the CD, there should be two serial numbers, one for GoLive and one for Co-Author. Reinstall using the GoLive serial number.
