Reinstalling iPhoto (or other preinstalled apps).
Weird thing; my iPhoto and Garageband that came preinstalled have just decided to stop working suddenly...
There must be a way around this, but the only solution I can come up with is deleting both apps then reinstalling them from the App Store.
However, I want to make sure that if I do this I wont have to buy the apps i already purchased with my Macbook Pro.
If I delete and reinstall iPhoto and Garageband, will I have to rebuy them in App Store?
Thanks in advance.
If you bought your mac after Lion, all the pre-installed apps are in the app store under purchases. Mine are there and I have a macbook pro. If you bought your mac before this feature started, you received two disks with the computer: Mac os install disk and application disk. Your iphoto/garageband.. are located in the application disk.

I had to re-install OS X recently and lost iPhoto and other ilife apps. Do I have to buy them now?, I had to re-install OS X recently and lost iPhoto and other ilife apps. Do I have to buy them now?
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
This is normal. OS X doesn't come with iLife apps, so you have to reinstall them after reinstalling Mac OS X.
If your Mac came without DVDs or you purchased it after July 2011, you have to install the iLife applications from the Mac App Store. Open the Mac App Store, log in with your Apple ID, go to Purchases and download GarageBand, iMovie and iPhoto free of charge.
If your Mac came with DVDs and you didn't purchase the iLife apps in the Mac App Store, insert the Applications DVD and install the iLife apps. Then, open > Software Update, and install the latest iLife applications version -
Hello! My App store and some other preinstalled apps wont open. Please help!
I've recently started to use my Macbook Pro, and some apps won't open. I've tried to update the software many times, but it still won't open. I really wan't to buy Lion from App store, but (once again) it won't open.
I've also tried to use the Application Disc that comes with every Mac, put that doesn't work either, and when im trying the Software Update option it says no updates are availible.
When I last used my Macbook Pro, I started to delete some programs that took space on my harddrive, and some of these programs were App Store, iPhoto and iMovie etc. When I use the Application Disc, only iMovie and iPhoto(etc. other programs) are updated.
This shows up when I try to open App Store.
Thanks in advance for helping
Cheers, CarlAnd when I try to reopen, the same thing happens over and over again...

New to Apple, having fun with ipad Air, but geting frustrated with its weird ways.
Deleted the iphoto app to clear out photos (yes, really). Now cannot download it again. Other deleted apps download exactly as the manual says but not iphoto. Can anyone suggest how to fix please? Also, cannot delete test photos from"photos" app, brought in from Dropbox. Can anyone tell me how to do this please?
All help gratefully received. You should be able to redownload it via the Purchased tab in the App Store app on your iPad - if it's not showing there (you haven't changed countries since buying the app ?) then check to see if it's hidden : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919
For the photos, if they are in the Camera Roll album in the Photos app then you can either delete them via the trashcan icon in the bottom right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the Select button top right in thumbnail view. -
IPhoto and other iLife Apps not working
About a month ago I was having serious problems with my iMac. Ended up needing a new hard drive, so Apple sent it away, put in a new hard drive, and sent it back. I've had it for two weeks and am just now using some applications (probably should have checked everything when I got it back, oh well), and some iLife stuff and programs that come installed are not opening. I am running Mac OS X 10.4.11 FYI
What works: Mail, Safari, iChat, Address Book, Itunes, iMovie, iCal, Quicktime
What doesn't work: iPhoto, iDVD, Garageband, iWeb, Photo Booth
Just a note, iWeb is the only one that prompts me and tells me that I need to re-install iLife. When I went to download latest iLife update it told me there was nothing to update and I needed to reinstall iLife.
Also just went into the applications folder again and realized I have both Spaces and Time Machine installed, except they do not work with my OS, so I don't know why they are on there (when I try opening them just to see what would happen it says "does not work with your OS X). Also, Senuti and iPodRip also are not working, so anyone have any ideas as to programs that would let me get my music off my ipod and back on to the computer?
The programs that don't work just bounce out of dock once then go back down immediately, and do not open at all. I tried installing the software bundle package from my OS X install disk but while the install was seemingly successful it did not change anything. So AAGGHH what do I do???
Thanks in advance!I have the Core 2 Duo in the white case, released late 2006. Definitely have been running Tiger on it (just checked and I am running 10.4.11), sent it away, got it back, and just noticed that these programs don't work and I have programs native to Leopard inexplicably on the computer for some reason. I don't really want to remove them though cause I would like to have them on in case I have to go to the Apple Store so I can point it out to them and ask some questions about why Tiger (the OS installed on the computer) applications are not working while Leopard applications are installed even though they don't work and shouldn't be on there.

Accidentally deleted photo booth (and other preinstalled apps) on ipad
I think my little one deleted FaceTime, Photo Booth, Camera, and a couple other apps on our new iPad. How can I get them back?
I'm puzzled why Time Machine didn't work. You can open the Photo Booth app from the applications folder in Time Machine ( it took a long time for the folder to start operating, but after about a minute wait the applications folder worked just like the on on the current desktop) from your last good system. You don't have to completely restore the whole system. Just open the app in the Time Machine folder, and you should be good to go. I accidentally deleted Photo Booth yesterday, and restored it today by opening the app from Time Machine of a few days ago.

I am going to pass my computer down to my daughter. Don't want to loose apps i have put on it but would like set it up as her computer any suggestions?
She will need to use her own Apple ID which means she needs to set up the computer from scratch.
Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer. Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the "C" key. Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.) Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. After you finish Setup Assistant will complete the installation after which
you will be running a fresh install of OS X. You can now begin the update process
by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your
installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1. Download and install Yosemite if the computer can run Yosemite. Otherwise, she will need to purchase her own copy of Lion and install it as an upgrade to Snow Leopard.
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
Lion System Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
or Xeon processor
2. 2GB of memory
3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
4. 7GB of available space
5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply. -
Preview, iPhoto and other Apple apps not working
I upgraded to Lion. My Time Machine backup disk saved me. Lion has been fraught with issues from the beginning of my experience with it. Why even release it? If this level of inconvenience and disruption was even remotely foreseeable, more tutorials should precede such an important, far-reaching software upgrade. How disappointing and how much more agravation is in store? I hope not much
I have the Core 2 Duo in the white case, released late 2006. Definitely have been running Tiger on it (just checked and I am running 10.4.11), sent it away, got it back, and just noticed that these programs don't work and I have programs native to Leopard inexplicably on the computer for some reason. How can I delete preinstalled apps in iOS 8?
The iOS 8 terms and conditions state:
"If you do not wish to use a Preinstalled App, you can delete it from your iOS Device at any time." [1]
However, I am unable to delete the Newsstand app or other preinstalled apps from my iOS device.
Why?
[1] last sentence of section 2. (c): http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/iOS81.pdfThanks.
I noticed you bolded "Apple-branded apps" from the first sentence of section 2 (c).
What is the definition of "Apple-branded" in this context?
For example, "Apple Watch" is now a preinstalled app, and would seem to fit the definition of "Apple-branded", but I can't uninstall it.
Ingo2711 wrote:
Not all apps can be removed, for example Safari, iWatch, Weather,... they all come with the iOS software. Only some apps made by Apple that are available in the AppStore can be removed again, if preinstalled on your iPhone 6, for example Pages, Garageband and some others.
You can remove those and install them later again by downloading them again for free.

I downloaded updates to iphoto and computer erred on install. A report went to Apple.

Before removing iPhoto (latest update crashed the app), I accidently removed it from my purchased Apps from the App Store. I accept iPhoto when I search for it, but does not put it back in my list. How do I get this back so that I can reinstall iPhoto?
Thank you.I found the answer just after posted this. Thanks to a user named CloudWalker. Solution is to go in AppStore, View Account under "Store" Menu and unhide any purchases.

iPhoto app won't down load because My mac is a lion 10.7.5 I need 10.10 ? how do I download iPhoto, and other apps that won't download? They were uninstalled by mackeeper (with me as an unwitting accomplice Thanks
I've reinstalled lion os 10.7.5 and got the app store app back.
Even though iPhoto etc are purchased by me in app store, theres no way they'll download.then
reinstall from the original source
Could be
1 - the restore disks that came with the computer - if it came with CDs and you do not know where they are then contact Apple to see if they can be replaced
or
2 - the iLife DVD that you purchased
or
3 - the app store - log in under the Apple id used to purchase the software or to set up the computer - look under purchases - you might have to unhide or accept the Application first

Some programs do not run: update software, mac App Store, Calendar, ibooks.V the same time, the program iTunes, iPhoto and other work normally. What to do?
Hello JohnnyChin95,
You absolutely can just reinstall OS X Mavericks without having to erase and install. The steps to do that are almost the same as the only thing you do differently is that you do not go to Disk Utility to erase the drive. Just go to the Reinstall OS X option and pick your Hard Drive and follow the on screen instructions to get it going. Check out the article below for the step by step process.

Your iPhoto software needs updating to 9.4.3
Open System Preferences > Software Update then click Check Now.
Restart your Mac after all updates are installed.
That will update all your system software, not just iPhoto. -
Every time I try to update iPhoto or other apps it says I can not because I bought them under a different account but I didn't.
So the Mac you have did you buy it new or used?
If you bought it used you have to contact Apple and have it removed from the original owners name and Apple ID and then register it under your Apple ID.
The iLife apps on newer Mac computers, ones that came with Lion or newer version of OS X , are now tied to the Apple ID of the original owner. No other Apple ID and password can be used to do any updates on them or Re-Download them if you wipe the drive. That is until you have that Mac's serial number removed from the origiinal owners Apple ID.
