Reinstalling iTunes 6 help

I installed the latest version (7) of iTunes and could not get it to show the music on my iPod. I tried to reinstall version 6 of iTunes that came with my iPod Nano by uninstalling iTunes 7. The reinstallation of 6 SEEMED to work ok until I tried to open iTunes. When I did I got this prompt..
The file " iTunes Libaray.itl " cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.
Is there ANYONE that can help with getting iTunes 6 back so I can manage my iPod again???

  • Reinstalling itunes help ASAP

While trying to update iTunes on my laptop, I'm being hit with an error that reads
"An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3 b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x800736b
I've constantly tried to troubleshoot it and it's still not working I even uninstalled my previous iTunes and now I'm left with no iTunes at all please help ASAP

It's a broken Windows Modules Installer then.
We've had some success with that one using the SCENARIO III treatment from the following document:
    [Vista - Windows Update Error 80070424|http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/258701-windows-update-error-80070424 -a.html]
I'd *strongly suggest* setting up a System Restore Point prior to doing that, though.
After doing the fix, stok up on Windows Updates. (The iTunes installation trouble is sometimes the first indication for folks of an issue that may have been going on for months, and with a broken Windows Modules Installer no Windows Updates will have been installing.)
(You may have to do your updates in several batches ... if your SP2 didn't install due to the Updates trouble, there's a bunch of updates that you won't see unless you get SP2 installed. So after installing updates, keep checking for Updates until you don't see any new ones showing for you.)
After you're stocked back up in that regard, try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

    Hello Sean,
It sounds like you are constantly needing to restore your phone because it keeps going into recovery mode. Usually putting a device into recovery mode and restoring it can help isolate an issue to your iPhone hardware if an issue persists afterwards. I would try manually putting it into recovery mode and restoring it 1 more time:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If that does not resolve it the symptoms indicate to me that it is a hardware issue causing this to happen and would seek service for it:
    iPhone Repair - Other Repairs
    https://www.apple.com/support/iphone/repair/other/
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • My itunes will not open on my computer! I've uninstalled/re-installed my intunes 10.4 and quicktime countless of times, and nothing is working. Everytime I try to open my itunes it says "Quicktime error 2096", then tells me to reinstall itunes. Help?!...

Title pretty much sums it up. I'm getting very frustrated. I've tried turning off the compatability of my Quicktime, and nothing is changed. Can anyone figure out the problem? I can't find an answer anywhere.

Open up itunes hey hey presto it open up alrighty only problem i lost all my music but lucklie at backed them up on another hardrive, on my ipod & Cds...Hopefully this will help you out or anyone else...

  • I am trying to reinstall iTunes but everytime I try to reinstall it, it is telling me that I can't because I have a newer version of Quicktime installed. The problem is that I cannot uninstall this, please help.

I have just purchased an iPhone 4, but it wasn't connecting to my iTunes, so I took advice and uninstalled iTunes. But when I am trying to reinstall iTunes, it keeps telling me that I cannot because I have a newer version of Quicktime installed. I cannot find this newer version anywhere, and have gotten rid of the Quicktime folder, but it is still refusing to install iTunes.
Please help, I have tried everything.

But when I am trying to reinstall iTunes, it keeps telling me that I cannot because I have a newer version of Quicktime installed.
That's usually caused by damaged QuickTime installation configuration information on the PC.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

    Hi inharmony35,
If you are having issues with iTunes after an attempted update, you may want to try the steps in the following articles:

With your phone plugged in, open Image Capture and see if the iPhone shows up.  If not, you are having a sync problem.  If it shows up in Image Capture, but not iTunes, I'd delete iTunes and reinstall it.

i had to reinstall itunes and now I get an error message when i try to open it please help

Please make sure to post the error message here, then we can help you decypher it.
You may want to make sure you're installing the right version of itunes.  If you have a 64bit system, you will need to make sure to download and install the 64bit version of iTunes.

Can anyone help me? The iTunes update corrupted my program. I uninstalled, and then reinstalled iTunes; only to find an error message about iTunes Helper. After several fruitless, repeat attempts, I am at a loss. Please help…

    Many thanks.
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • My Itunes will not communicate with either of my ipods. I have unistalled all Apple products from my computer. Completely reinstalled Itunes, however still it keeps telling me to reinstall Itunes to correct the software issue. Please help me!

Please help me. I have an Ipod Shuffle and Ipod Nano both the latest versions. I can not get them to communicate with my ITunes. I have tried the troubleshooting and I have tried completely taking all Apple software off my computer and reinstalling Itunes. I could really use someones help. My ITunes keeps telling me reinstall Itunes to correct a software problem, but I have reinstalled it three times and the issue has not been corrected.
    Thanks a bunch in advanced!

I cannot find "Other" devices. I found Apple Mobile Device under Universal Bus Controllers but cannot see "recovery mode" or any other status. I use Windows Vista.
When I try to restart Apple Mobile Device Service I get the following message: "The Apple Mobile Device Service on Local Computer started then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs". What does this mean?
During the last 48 hours I was able to see my iPad in iTunes only one time during many attemnpts to connect . I haven't been able to see it during the llast several attempts.
Any suggestions? The standard suggestions have not worked: i.e. stop then start AMDS; tuurn off iPad and PC, then restart both and reconfrom iPad to PC; reload iTunes.
