Reinstalling iTunes onto a new computer?

Do I have to reinstall iTunes onto my new computer in order to access the music store and download music? If I do, does that mean I will have two separate music libraries on the two different computers?

Yes, the only way you can access the iTunes Store is through.... iTunes.

These are two possible approaches that should work to move the existing library to the new laptop.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase are reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your library or a backup of it then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

My issue is just with itunes....not my ipod... They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

I have just uninstalled CS3 form my Macbook pro and want to install it onto my new iMac. The image doesn't have a cd slot. i have tried getting support form Adobe support chat.
They checked my serial number and then gave me a download link,
The download link does not work and now they have referred me to this forum where i have to go round in circles searching for my own answers.
Why can't i just talk to a consultant who can answer my question.
I am now very frustrated.

That's what ProDesign does if you simply click on the download link. It does that for me if I do the same.
To get it working you go to the link in the instructions and click on the download for Photoshop Elements 13.
As soon as you see the download box, click cancel, and go back and try your CS3 download again. This will be two files.

Can't download the itunes onto my new computer...

I was using my husbands computer and have mine set up finally. I try to setup and download so I can download music and use my files on this computer. It says on the main screen thank you for downloading, but nothing else happens. I can't figure out what's going on. All I want is to set up my ipod on here so I can switch plays...

Cannot download iTunes onto my new computer with IE or Mozilla, pop up blocker is off and so is antivirus.

I just got a new HP TouchSmart and I cannot get iTunes to start the download. Mozilla doesn't even open the pop up, even though the pop up blocker is off and IE will open the pop up, but it won't load, just says "Internet Explorer is unable to open this page." I turned my McAfee off to try to start the downloads again and even that didn't help.

Look at my other reply and follow my lead. This process worked flawlessly for me. I got an old version
to install, authorized my device, synced my ipod, no problem. AS A BONUS, iTunes realized it was out of date
and installed the latest and greatest on its own with no glitches. If you need more help reply to one of my messages, and I will do the best I can for you.
One request, if you get it up and running come back with any final advice, and make that this solved your problem, so others can use our experience.

It doesn't say anything. It runs through the sync process like normal and tells me all of the songs that it's synking. But then when it says I can disconnect it, nothing actually synked.

I downloaded ITunes onto the new computer, plugged in my Ipod, and a box popped up asking to either erase or transfer what was on my Ipod. I'd read before we put up the new computer that all you have to do is click the Transfer button and it will put all the music, ect. onto the ITunes account. Well, it didn't work. The page where it shows the bar that shows the memory is on the ITunes and shows exactly what it did on the old computer, but that's it. There's no music, nothing. I logged on to my ITunes account, that did nothing. What can I do? There has to be SOMETHING. Thanks so much!

1). Connect your iPod to your new computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive
