Reinstalling Lion OSX in MBP Error

Hi all am, when I tried to restore and reinstall the Lion OS X that comes with the MBP bought a month ago. My first try was done in my office where it just truncated half way. I shut it down and went home to do it.
When I tried to do the same again, this time I encountered a prompting to key in the AppleID and Password. When I key in, they prompted saying this AppleID did not purchase the Lion OS.
I call Apple Support and they send me a set of instruction to use the Disk Utility to erase the HD and reinstall. Before I did that, I went to the local Apple Service Centre and funny thing is when they tried to reinstall, there is no request for AppleID...very weird. I said never mind and I will reinstall at home as the installation indicates 5 hours to install.
I just tried reinstalling and the AppleID request appears again. I followed the instruction to erase the HD using the Disk Utility before reinstalling the Lion OS. After exiting the Disk Utility, I am suppose to click on reinstall Mac OS X. The AppleID again appeared. Cancelled it and I tried another network using my iPhone Personal Hotspot.
This time there is no AppleID request appearing but after a minute or so, a msg box appears, "Can't download the additional components to install Mac OS X" appears.
Since the erasure, I could not do a normal boot up. It kept going into the reinstall screen.
Anyone can help? Now I cannot access my OS and cannot reinstall. Why the AppleID request kept coming out when I used my cable network?
Thanks and appreciate.

Had to reinstall lion because of my error, but now a lot of apps. are showing up on my dock as question marks and will not open.

Ive gotten the question mark icon thing, and I just took them off the dock and redragged them onto the dock from the Applications folder again and they worked fine.  Mine were a couple of game type programs nothing major yet.  Just wanted to throw that out there though since I had that happen with a few dock icons.

What is the capacity of the flash drive?
You might also be able to reinstall Lion without a flash drive, by booting up the computer holding the Command + R keys, and choosing Reinstall OS X.

  • How to reinstall Lion from new MBP?

Hi guys. I just bought an Early 2011 MBP with OS X Lion pre-installed. I just want to ask how to reinstall Lion? Just in case I want to reinstall the OS. Thanks! If you could post different ways of doing it, the better.

OS X Lion includes a new feature called Lion Recovery that includes all of the tools you need to reinstall Lion, repair your disk, and even restore from a Time Machine backup without the need for optical discs.

  • I've gotten a kernel panic 4 times in a row while trying to reinstall lion osx from a flash drive to a reformatted hard drive.  How is this possible when there's "nothing" on my computer?

My SSD failed and I was instructed to reformat my hard drive and restore my files.  I erase my hard drive using Disk Utility and reinstalled Lion from a flash drive. While Lion is installing, I get a kernel panic.  That's happened now four times in a row and I'm befuddled because I don't have anything on my computer to conflict right?  Please help.

Do you think it's ram related?
No way to tell unless you test it.  Like I said kernel panics are usually hardware related.  Since your Macbook Pro is from the "2009" era, run the Hardware Test disc which you should already have - Intel-based Macs: Using Apple Hardware Test
Apple Store diagnostic testings are FREE.  It's the repairs you are responsible for if out of warranty.

  • I have the following problem: "no se pueden descargar los componentes adicionales necesarios para instalar mac os x" How I can install LION OSX from a hard storage (HD, PenDrive)?

After more than 10 times i have the folowwing error "no se pueden descargar los componentes adicionales necesarios para instalar mac os x" when I try to REINSTALL LION OSX to faftory reset while WiFi. I try in 3 differents routers and nathing change. Can I install from a hard copy in a DVD, HD, PenDrive?? Can I download LION OSX and install without WiFi?
My MacBook Air is new one, come with LION but I want to reset to factory default, but I can't.
    Thanks.

  • What's the best way to erase and reinstall Lion?

I'm a little confused by the various posts I've read about erasing and reinstaling lion.
My MBP is about 4 years old.  I upgraded to lion last summer and it never worked great, but over the last 3-6 months its been dragging.  I want to start fresh.  I've uploaded all of my personal files to a sky drive and then copied all of my extremely irreplaceable photos to two other hard drives.  Now I'm just fuzzy about my next step.
I've read I need to make a boot disk, or a thumb drive or I can do it right from my system.  I don't care which way or what I need, but I want it fresh with no chance of curroption.
Thanks for any and all direction.
    Josh

While we all have MacBooks in this forum most of us don’t run Lion. There's a Lion Support Community where everybody has Lion. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer. https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mac_os_x_v10.7_lion

  • Reinstalled Lion and trying to sync iPhone4.

I have reinstalled Lion on my MBP and about to sync up my iPhone4 to iTunes(there is no connect in iTunes but I have made a backup of the iTunes folder before reinstalling Lion). I have connected my iPhone4 to iTunes but it gives a notification that all the content on my iPhone4 will be replaced with what is in iTune Library). Do I need to restore the backup of the iTune's library before proceeding or will this be ok and the iPhone and iTunes should sync with no issues?
    Thanks
    Sam

    Hey Sam,
Where did you put your back up files? I mean before you fire up the reinstallation process, did you move the back up files to another ext hdd or they were on your main hdd?
Did you back up on Time Machine?

Hello! Tried unsuccessfully to restore my MBP, running the Mac OSX Lion, to factory settings. I keep getting the "can't download additional components for the Mac OSX Lion" error when reinstalling the OSX Lion. Any tips on how to resolve this problem?

    Hi
Given that your answer to 1. is 'pre-installed' and 3. is 'No', I think the only thing to do is to take it to an Apple store (ideally the one you bought it from) and have them reinstall it for you.
The intended solution in cases like yours is that you should be able to reboot and install even a wiped disk by using Apple's servers over the internet (you do this by restarting with 'command-r' and choosing 'reinstall Lion'). However if this isn't working for you then you need to get the store to do it. Don't let them fob you off with 'go home and try again'. Have them do it in the shop (you're still covered by Applecare warranty so it should cost you nothing save the inconvenience of the trip and possibly leaving the machine there while they fix it).
A reinstall should leave all your own personal data and programs in place.
Note for future: when you get it fixed, first thing to do is buy a cheap external drive and start keeping a backup (either Time Machine or clone with Carbon Copy Cloner).

  • Error code 150:30 on Lion OSX 10.9.2

    Hello
After I upgrade my mac to Lion OSX 10.9.2, I am keep getting an error code 150:30.
I have tried downloading License Recovery, but it didn't work.
What should I do to solve this problem?

    I'm having the same issue.
I purchased CS4 in January of 2009 and have used it on the same MacBook Pro until yesterday when the machine crashed. When I migrated my  files from my external backup to my new machine I received the same 150:30 error message noted above.
I have spent two days on the phone arguing with Adobe's "customer service" center. No one understands the issue. I was directed to the same page listed above and I too found that none of the suggested solutions work.
When I escalated the issue cust. serv. told me that CS4 is not compatible with OSX versions above 10.5. This is incorrect as I was using 10.7, 10.8, and 10.9 for the last few years with no issues.
I have not yet tried to reinstall, but most likely will soon. This is a painfully simple issue. I just need to reactivate the license on my new machine. Surely someone knows how to accomplish this.

  • Re-install Lion, reinstall 10.6.8 combo, error running Mac App Store

I need to re-download and install Lion. To do so I need to get to the App Store.
To get to the App Store I need the App Store installer for Mac OS X 10.6.8, the
    latest Snow Leopard.
I cannot go to the Mac App Store because the App Store program I have is for
Lion, not Snow Leopard. I moved the Lion App Store application out of the
Applications folder and deleted it and ran Software Update, SU says I'm up
to date. So I download the OS X 10.6.8 Combo update.
I try to run that Mac App Store application and got a memory dump looking
dialog that says I had an unknown error and it may be because the version of the Mac App Store
I tried to run is for the wrong version of OSX. This  the error I got when I ran the Lion version
of the Mac App Store application resulting in my deleting it back before I installed the Combo update for 10.6.8.
Perhaps I missed deleting another component still hanging around from Lion?
Any ideas of what to try next?

I was on the delevoper's list for LIon and have now had to put a new hard drive in and want to reinstall Lion on my new hard drive but when I go to App store and sign in, under purchases it says I have not purchased anything.
Any ideas as to how to get back to Lion?

  • Sarafi won't start up. Hard drive crashed, reinstalled Lion from Safe Mode. and Safari still won'topen. I get an error message. There are no files in the extensions folder.

How do I clear the error in Safari? I've reinstalled Lion 3 times and the error won't clear.

Well Apple Suupport is still tops in every book.
The fix for my problem was so ridiculously simple, I can't beleived it worked.
But somehow the mouse install disk (stuck in the drive) was disrupting the start up. I was instructed to take the batteries out of the wireless mouse.
    IT WORKED.
Not sure if anyone that's had this similar problem is using wireless devices, but take the batteries out of them, use plug in devices to work around the problem, eject the CD and if you luck out like I did, it'll work
Thanks Apple my faith is renewed

2011 MacBook Pro, 64 bit i7 quad core, upgraded to Lion OSx, Bootcamp installed with Windows 7, wanting to install Windows 8 (don't ask), tried downloading/installing bootcamp 5.0.5033 (both on the mac/windows partitions (actually using a parallel to run Windows)), error message something similar to bootcamp doesn't support this Windows
So the question is am I doing something wrong? Should I just try and install windows 8 through my windows 7 partition and see if I can use the bootcamp 5.05033. Or do I solely have to use the bootcamp to install Windows 8? I'm not too familiar with bootcamp and how it runs.

if you're using parallels and full bootcamp then you're making it 100% more troublesome for youself then it needs to be
bootcamp is running windows directly on the hardware this give full memory and cpu and 3d video game power
running windows in parallels is running a virtual machine where one can't run powerful games and the like but one can have it in a window and change fast between osx and windows
parallels as the only virutal machine (as far as I know) support not have the operating system as a file on the osx harddisk but can access a bootcamp parition as virtual machine but without the benefits bootcamps provides
it's a service parallels provide for those who want both to play games in normal bootcamp and sometimes use windows in a virutal machine
just install it like a normal virtual machine and you need not worry about bootcamp drivers and the likes
plus it would mean that the windows part would be a part of the timemachine bacup of osx
which it is not when it's in bootcamp
