Reinstalling Lion Progress Bar Jumps Backwards

Anyone have this problem?  I'm reinstalling Lion, and I get to "less than a minute," then all of a sudden the progress bar jumps backwards to "21 minutes left!" WTH????

The first part is downloading what will be installed. The second part is the actual installation.

  • Anyway to smooth out a progress bar?

I'm using a Timer with an event to update data on a page.  I'm also using a progress bar to indicate the next update (every 30 seconds).  Currently I'm using a manual progress bar with setProgress() to increase the value by 1 (max value 30) every second to match the 30 second Timer.  This works fine from a functionality standpoint, but I don't like how the intervals on the progress bar jump in chunks to the next value instead of smoothly progressing to the next value.  Basically the progress bar shows 30 "jumps" instead of smoothly filling in.  I have been looking through documentation as best as I can to find any type of transition or smoothing renderer, but no luck.
I'm using Flash Builder 4 if that helps with suggestions.
    thanks

Thanks, your comment just cleared up my thinking a bit.  My timer was set to Timer(1000, 30), making it 30 counts.  I adjusted it to Timer(100, 300), making it 300 jumps, which is much less noticeable for the progress bar's size.

  • Reinstall of Lion Failed...progress bar frozen...what recourse?

Multiple system freezes lead me to a Lion reinstall on my mid-2007 iMac with 4gb ram. I downloaded Recovery Disk Assistant to external drive and went through reinstall process. All went normally until Lion began to install. Progress bar froze at 6 minutes remaining the first attempt and 24 minutes remaining the second attempt.  Am I screwed or what? I don't appear to have any options except continued attempts at installing.

My reinstall saga did have a somewhat happy ending.  I took Linc's advice and went to bed with 24 minutes remaining on the frozen progress bar.  Upon arising (8 hrs later) I checked my Mac to find 24 minutes remaining.  I forced shutdown and restarted again.  This time (3rd attempt) after only about 35 total minutes, the install was 'successful.' I put that successful in quotes because it took 3 more restarts for my Mac to successfully load.
I believe the moral of the story is don't give up too quickly on your Mac.  When at first you don't succeed, try, try, and try again.

  • Recovery Bar During Boot Up And Won't Reinstall Lion

The about 2 weeks ago while connected to my girlfriend network, my Macbook crashed for no reason. When I restarted it, it game me the grey reboot screen. I fixed that without a problem. Fast forward to now. Starting about 2 days ago, my mac keeps booting up with the loading bar/recovery bar. I was worried but thought it was only one time, but it's been doing it for every boot up. I looked online to find out why, which lead me to the recovery HD. I tried to do a HD repair but it kept running into errors that said " Should be 645077 not 645078" or " should be 158079 not 158080". So I couldn't repair it; then while trying to reinstall Lion...it can't find my Mac HD...it only locates the Recovery. I tried restarting and doing it again. Same problem. I have no idea where to go from here and worry about using my MBP in fear of the drive just crashin and I lose whatever work I am working on then. Does anyone know whats going on and what I can do ?

I did the Apple hardware test or have tried to.
    I get no error messages.
If I run the short version of the test, it gets to a certain point about 90 seconds in and does not progress any more. It still looks like it's running the test, but the progress bar never moves again or the time the test is running never changes.
If I run the extended test, it does the same thing as in the short test, but it happens after 53 minutes.
For both tests it stalls at the same time every time the test is run.
This does not look good. IMO

  • Lion 10.7 gray progress bar appears under Apple logo on startup.  Slow to boot to login prompt or Finder

iMac Troubleshooting topics section shows this topic for SnowLeopard10.6 and suggests that there may be a hard disk problem.  Recommendation was to startup iMac from the 10.6 install disk and use Disk Utility to attempt to repair the hard disk.  Lion 10.7.2 was downloaded so there is no disk to attempt this repair with.  Any suggestions or experience with the gray cloth screen in Lion and a progress bar under the Apple logo on boot up?  It seems to take a lot longer to boot up now to get a login prompt or desktop than when it was fresh out of the box in July 2011 with Snow Leopard 10.6  Thanks for your help!

    Hello
    just an idea
first shut down your mac then , unplug your keyboard if is a wired one , or remove battery from your wirless keyboard then power up your mac , does the progress bar appear again ?
or more simple try an other keyboard if is possible , preferably a wired keyboard

  • I cannot seem to get iTunes to contact software update server. Seems to only give a progress bar which but never seems to contact.  running latest version of Lion and latest iTunes

I cannot sseem to contact the iphone software update server.  Only get progress bar, but never seems to contact.  Am running Lion 1-.7.3 and most recent version of itunes(10.6).  What is up?

The servers have been jammed with everyone trying to get the new version of iTunes and iOS, so you may just need to wait a day or so until things calm down.

  • Mac OS Mountain Lion Shuts down at Apple logo with a progress bar appearing under it.

Last Night there were two updates available which i downloaded and after that it asked for a restart, when i restarted the Mac, it gave me a progress bar for the updates at the middle of which it said, Installation of Updates can not be Completed and My mac book froze. After that i Shutdown my Macbook Pro by holding the Shutdown button for a little while.
When i restarted the Macbook Pro, it gave remained at apple logo for a while then a progress bar appeared after which it shut down itself and it is doing the same since then.
I have got windows over Boot Camp in my Macbook Pro and i can boot into Windows which is running fine and i can access all the data on my Main Partition through Windows as well but i am unable to boot into Mac os Mountain Lion.
I have tried Repairing the Partition by going into Recovey and it Fails, I have tried Resetting the PRAM and that hasn't worked either, i have tried re-installing the Mac os Mountain Lion from Recovery but that says that all my Partitions are Locked.
I haven't got any backup of my data through Time Machine so i was thinking as i can boot into Windows and access the data and as all this is because of the Installation of Updates Failure so there should be some way to manually edit the Boot Files to trick the Mac book into thinking that there weren't any updates or to simply clear the data from Updates.
Can anyone please help me if you have any better suggestions.

If it's still under warranty or with AppleCare (even if it isn't, really) take it in to an Apple store.  If you can get at your personal files from Windows, copy them to an external drive first.  That includes anything you have in Windows that you need to keep.  Sounds like the drive is going south and if it has to be replaced, you'll lose everything if you don't have it backed up.

  • I purchased lion osx 10.7 and it has just said "installing" where you click to "buy now" for the last 2 hours.  There is no progress bar or anything. What is going on?

I purchased lion osx 10.7 and it just says "installing" where you click to "buy it now" and it has been doing nothing for the past 2 hours.  There is no progress bar or anything that says its being downloaded.  I was sent an email by apple confirming I purchased it but nothing is happening.  I tried restarting the internet and clicking on download and the same thing happens.  What is going on?

Mine says it's going to take 10 hiurs to download or something daft. I'm guessing the servers are being hit pretty hard right now. Like the poster above said, check in the 'purchased' part of the app store to make sure it's actually ticking along and then just...wait.

  • How to solve mountain lion not start downloading(white progress bar)?

    Dear All,
I cannot install Mountain Lion with this error "This Copy of the Install OS X Mountain Lion Application can’t be verified"
Then I delete it and redownload and downloading never start. In App Store->Purchase tab, "DOWNLOADED" is shown for mountain lion.
But in Luanchpad, the white progress bar at Mountain Lion icon is shown.
    Please help. Thanks in advance.

Restart your modem and router. If you can connect with an ethernet cable, try that.
If there is an icon in LaunchPad, hold down the option key and click the x over it.
    Then, try to download again.

  • My iMac will not boot up.  I  have a 3 year old iMac running   Lion.  When I push the power button I get the Apple logo, then the circular thing made up of small lines revolving iin a clockwise direction, then a progress bar which never fills in.

The progress bar then disappears and the system never boots up.  How can I get this machine to boot without a start-up disc?
Are there any keyboard shortcuts available?

I think you'll need those grey original install disks as it sounds like your harddrive is corrupted.
