Reinstalling mac os x 10.5 and not havving leopard

Hi, im new with mac. This is my situation
I bought a Macbook that cam already installed with leopard.
I had to reinstall it and did it with the two disks that came with the mac.
Now, after doing this, leopard didnt install. Do i have to download it from some where? how do I get it back?

It won't say "Leopard" which is just a name. If it says 10.5.x you are running Leopard
I tried to install a soft i had installes and i couldnt because it said i had to have leoprad installes. Thats why im assuming somethings mising.
You are running Leopard if it says 10.5.x but you should update to 10.5.6 - - that might be the problem. Some new software requires the very latest Leopard version which is currently 10.5.6

Hello, I am trying to reinstall Mac OSX, but my computer does not read installation cd. After restart, I hold C but either eject cd or doesn't read and computer boots up normally. Possible solutions:
You need to hold the c key down before booting
You need to use the built in keyboard, you have other hardware connected
You need the machine specific 10.6.4+ disks for that machine, the retail 10.6.3 disks won't work
There is a firmware password on the machine preventing the at boot key command functions
Try the option key for Startup Manager to boot from the disk, right after the "bong"
Your Superdrive lense is dirty or not operating, other hardware issues
You have malware of some sort

Can you open Applications by navigating to the Applications folder via the Finder? When you write that your computer doesn't show icons, do you mean your Dock icons? Can you see the Dock as all?

Is this creative suite or leopard causing my mac pro to freeze, quit and not sleep?

I hav recently bought a high end mac pro and leopard and I am lucky if I get 30 minutes before the whole system freezes. Tried re-installing in a different hard drive on the pro - same problem. If I put the computer to sleep, 80% of the time when I return, it has shut down. Actions in CS3 are deleted. Everything is a bit random and I can not work it out. Running disk utility, from the computer and disk produces this:

Sounds like the logic board is malfunctioning, reading and writing in the wrong places to the HD. Try a Safeboot [hold down shift key] and see if the problem persists. If not, then you have a plugin problem most likely. Also, do this first: boot holding down cmd-S keys. When you drop into Unix, at the prompt, type fsck -fy keep the space between the commands. Let it run and see what happens, but because it happens on both drives, it sounds more like the logic board or wiring in the system is on the blink. If it is new, should be under warranty... Iolo System Mechanic app failed and has caused FF not to act right - not loading buttons and some web pages to be a list instead of what the UI should look like.... I have reinstalled but still have the problem and not sure what to do

Basically certain web pages are not loading proper since app Iolo System Mechanic failed. I have reinstalled FF but still not loading right. Buttons are not showing and some pages are in a list instead of the GUI view.

I recently attempted to " update " iTunes and received the missing .dll and Windows error message it seems everyone is posting. I had to delete not only Itunes, but the Apple update and other associated file in order to get my Pioneer DVD DVR 218-L to work. The driver would not work and Microsoft had no fix for this. It told my registry was corrupt. Apple should certainly fix this problem. Now I cannot run iTunes at all unless I do not want a functioning DVD drive?

I am having the same issue with Vista 64 bit: After many failed download attempts ("network error") the Progress Bar briefly appears and that's it.
Searched for solution that led me to running "Microsoft FixIt", deinstalling iTunes, Apple Software Update, Mobile Dev Support, Bonjour, and Application Support - even manually deleting common files that were left over (tough with Vista). No difference. FYI, I was able to get rid of the Apple folder in Program Files (x86)/Common File, but not in Program Files/Common Files ... but that shouldn't make a difference as I am installing iTunes64Setup.exe, right?
I even tried iTunes 10.7 and 10.6.3 from Apple's support page ... same differnce.
Had a lot of security updates on 1/22/14 (all related to Office 2007 (including SP3), though). So I tried to restore past this point, but an "unknown error" occurred and I am stuck where I am ... lovely.
So now my system is chopped and I seem to not be able to get iTunes even close to my computer ... :-(

Mac battry flickering between detected and not detected

I had a question about my macs battary. Recently it started showing it was not being detected by my comp then suddenly it was being detected a few days later then it was not being detected again. Has anybody had a similar problem before?

Intermitantly my Mac Pro will just click and not start.

If I unplug it or press the on button and hold it it will come back. I noticed that when this happens two little red lights are blinking on the system-board a PT A and PT B . I can see them between the memory boards. Any ideas?

It was the power-supply supply. A bit concerning for a new Mac since it happened from new but I am very grateful I bought the maintenance agreement since they broke the door opening it and had to replace the cast. Thanks for all the wonderful help!

How do i set my mac to boot into ios and not windows

After having used Bootcamp to install windows8.1. When i restart the mac it automatically boots into windows, unless i use the option key to choose mac-ios.
I require mac-ios on a daily basis so I want to change this so that the computer automatically boots into mac-ios first, as i only require the windoes programs occasionally.

Can I still click once on an event and see header and notes in Leopard iCAL

I noticed after I upgraded to Leopard that iCAL doesn't seem quite the same.
For example, I click on an event and it doesn't expand off to the right
like it use to in order to see the header, edit dates, and accompany notes.
Do I have to double click on everything now and hit edit all the time to
gain the usual routine as was the case in Tiger or
is there a feature I can actuate to bring back this older feature resident
in Tiger vs the new way to do it seems to be the order of things in Leopard?

I've noticed this too and am INCREDULOUS! So yes, apparently it's just gone now. Can't figure out why on earth Apple would add clicks to doing something vs. taking them away. I HATE that this window is not available any longer. Why on earth not just make this a user option? We all work differently and I would MUCH RATHER have this info window up than the to-do items. I would keep all my itinerary information in this window. Now it's a command-i or double click, then click inside! I'm so angry I'm having a hard time not cursing the person/group who made this awful decision. I would actually switch to something else if I weren't locked into this with the iPhone and all.
I guess we'll just have to wait for some merciful developer to hack this feature back unless Apple would be kind enough to give us back something we've grown accustom to by making it a user option. Maybe Aaron Harnly of Letterbox fame can answer the call. If not, PLEASE DO THIS ICAL TEAM.

You need to first install the OS your Mac came on the bundled gray disks. Assuming it's Snow Leopard, you could then login into the App Store using your same Apple ID and password to download and install Lion.
If your Mac is a bit older and came with Leopard, 10.5.x, you can bypass that and install Snow Leopard from your retail disk. The only software you'd need to install separately from the gray disks would be the optional software, such as the iLife suite and other titles not included on the retail SL disk.

Printing/creating PDF problems with Mac OS 10.6.4 and word v.X

In my job at university I use Word 2003 (version 10) in my new iMac. Since I updated to MacOS 10.6.4 I have problems with the printing menu. That means that I can not print or convert to PDF or even generate a preview. When trying to print or obtain a preview, word freezes and I have to force quit. When trying to generate a pdf file it does, but the generated file is unreadable (it says is damaged) and word freezes again. I have played with the preferences, change user and it didn't help. I checked the Font Book and indeed they were many duplicated fonts. I sorted them out, but the problem persists. With very short files it works, but with longer ones word invariably crashes when trying to print or make a pdf. I took one long .doc file and I copied into my laptop (MacBook pro, 2008) that was running 10.6.3. I printed it and converted to pdf; no problems at all. Then, for the sake of knowledge, I updated the system to 10.4.6 and then I couldn't print or create a pdf with the very same file, so it seems that certainly the update is reponsible. So now I know cause but I can not print from any of my computers. To me convert to pdf is an important functionality so I would appreciate any help. I have some ideas: reinstall Office 2003? reinstall 10.6 from the disk (and not update)? use Time Machine to restore the system as it was before the update?
I didn't detect problems in Office 2004, or any other programs in my macs. Unfortunately, I need Office 2003 for compatibility with some other software. Thanks in advance!

I updated my MBP to 10.6.4 last night and today I was printing fine from Word 2008 (v12.2.5). I haven't used Office vX since Tiger so I cannot comment on its stability with the latest update. But I suggest that if you haven't done so already, try opening Disk Utility and running Repair Disk Permissions on the 10.6.4 partition. Once this has completed I also suggest that you reset the printing system, restart your Mac and then add your printer queues again.
*How to Reset the Printing System*
1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
2. Move your mouse over the Printers list
3. Hold down the Control button and click the mouse (or right click if supported).
4. Click "Reset printing system ..."
5. Restart your Mac

With your phone plugged in, open Image Capture and see if the iPhone shows up. If not, you are having a sync problem. If it shows up in Image Capture, but not iTunes, I'd delete iTunes and reinstall it.
