How do you install CS5 onto a new computer without Time Machine/file transfer

I'm not getting a new computer, but my current one is getting a little old (Macbook Pro V. 10.6.8) and I'm afraid it might crash if I download the newest Maverick system, which is why I want to make absolutely sure I'm able to save and transfer all my old files and CS5 Creative Suite programs if this indeed happens. I don't trust Time Machine to do it; my boss had this happen and Time Machine did not transfer the Adobe programs. I also don't want to rely on Time Machine and any other file transfer (which all new Macs offer) because I've had brand new computers crash because of old corrupt files from my old computer converting over, and the Apple people said it's a bad idea (which would have been nice to know BEFORE the computer crashed and everything. . .) I've been told you can only use the CD to install CS5 onto your computer twice, which I've already done (thanks to my brand new computer crashing once already). So I would like to know how it's possible to install the program onto a new computer should this one crash, without the use of file transfer or Time Machine. I have no interest in upgrading to CC.

Avoid using Time Machine for re-installing Adobe software. It rarely works and usually breaks the activation mechanism.

Not quite.
You can install the software as many times as you like but you can only activate the software for use on a maximum of two computers at the same time.
To re-install you will need your CS5 serial number.
Download the installer from Download CS5 products
Install then enter your serial number when prompted.

I purchased cs5 in 2011 and am currently trying to download it to a new computer. I downloaded it directly from the Adobe website and do have the serial number (but not the disc) but cannot find a way (link) to download it onto the new computer without Creative Cloud. Where can I download CS5 only onto my new computer?

Illustrator CS5 onto a new computer

Hi,
I bought the adobe creative suite some years ago, maybe around 2009, and have it on my stationary computer. However I need to get illustrator (CS5) onto my laptop. Its been so long since I purchased this so I don't know where on earth my serial number is, what should I do!? I have a log in to Adobe, but there are no links to 'products purchased' or such.

Your best bet would have been if you registered your software. Then when you logged into Adobe with your Adobe ID, it would be listed.
You'll probably have to produce some proof of purchase, I imagine. You'll need to contact web chat. Links here:

I've swtiched from and old Windows XP to Windows 8. The new computer does not have a facilty for disks. Can I download online from Adobe?

I just reinstalled my PS7 onto a new computer, Vista, and now I keep getting an error message which says "photoshopelementssyncagent.exe-no disk. I turned off Firewall, allowed Firewall to let in program and nothing works. I can't even get into

photoshop at all with this. I am about ready to get rid of this stupid program! Does anyone know how to fix this? Does this not work with Vista?

DURIM - Okay. I would expect the "Cache Warning" message because your default directories would not be the same as the ones in the settings file I generated.
If you go back to the "7.0" directory and open the "Logs" folder, can you copy the "Audition Log.txt" file and send it as an attachment to [email protected]? We'll take a look in that logfile and see if it gives us more information about why this is failing now.
Also, do you have any other Adobe applications installed on this machine, such as Premiere Pro? If so, do they launch as expected or fail as well?
I do have the trial Pro version of Adobe reader, but I have not activated it, because I fear the same thing will happen did it. I cannot afford to activate the subscription for that product and take the chance of it not working either. I depend on those two programs religiously. Here is the files that you requested. I appreciate any help you can give me to get this audition program started

I downloaded cs5 onto a new computer. How do I open it?

It is asking for an app to open the download. I have no apps.

If you have downloaded it for Windows then you must have downloaded the .7z file.
Please install winrar on your computer, after installing winrar right click on the downloaded installer and select/click on Extract Here to extract the installer.
After extracting the installer install the software using setup.exe

I transferred CS5 to a new computer using PC transfer program. CS5 started up on the new computer OK, but now does not recognize raw files. Should I uninstall and reinstall again?

I transferred CS5 to a new computer using PC mover ultimate. CS5 appeared to start up normally, I had to insert the serial number from my original CD. However, now the program does not recognize CR files and Adobe bridge is not working properly. I get messages that CS5 needs to be updated, but the updates fail. What should I do? Should I uninstall CS5 on the new computer, uninstall CS5 on the old computer using the original CD, and then reinstall CS5 using the CD on the new computer?

Transferring programs does not work well with Adobe applications. You should install them.
As far as having the program on different machines goes, you are allowed to have two activated installations so if it is working on the original machine there is no reason to remove it unless you need the space.
