Reinstalling os x problem

After accidentally setting my internal hard drive on read-only, the only way I have been told to solve it was to format the drive and reinstall os x.
1st step: formatting, done (7 passes option).
2nd step: reinstalling os x, impossible. I get an error message and the system only allows me to restore from a backup, that I don't have.
So how can I reinstall Mac os x 10.6 on my MacBook air?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Thanks.

I stumbled upon the solution. In addition to downloading Creative Cloud, I needed to go back to the website and  download trials for the programs I want to use--Photoshop and Lightroom. Once I did that, I was in business. Would save trouble if that was made clear on the download site.
    Thanks

    doodlebug,
Am I just out of luck until I find those?
You may try Adobe Support (phone),
    http://helpx.adobe.com/adobe-connect/adobe-connect-phone-numbers.html
and talk to them about your registration, but I am unsure whether they can help you with anything pre CC (There was a Customer Care option with chat which seems to have stopped working).
If you are still out of luck, please report back, and I will try to ask someone to find the right someone to help you.

  • Reinstalling Mountain lion problem

Hello! After erasing all the data on my computer, it wants to reinstall the Mountain lion OS. With my apple ID, with which I haven't been purchasing anytning before, I went to the apple shop and bought Mountain lion OS (and the order status says now - complete). But when I try to start the installation again - it says that this ID was not used to purchase lion....Does that mean - I need to purchase Lion OS as well?
Even if it is so, the problem is that Lion OS is not available in my country's store anymore....so I switched to the US store and bought it there...
I have Mountain lion purchased in my country's store, and Lion os - purchased in the US store.
For some reason that's also becomming a big problem, because when I try to start the installation and login to my ID - there is no connection between the apple stores in different countrees....so if in my ID I choose US as a country, it goes to the US store and says- I did not purchase Mountain lion os, If I choose my country in my ID - it goes to my country's store and says - I did not purchase lion...What now????

"Although you can browse the iTunes Store in any country without being signed in, you can only purchase content from the iTunes Store for your own country. This is enforced via the billing address associated with your credit card or other payment method that you use with the iTunes Store, rather than your actual geographic location."
The policy is the same for both the iTunes and Mac App Stores.

  • Had to reinstall windows 7 - Problems syncing iPhone with new iTunes

    Hello everyone!
I've recently had to reinstall windows 7. Now I am having issues syncing my iPhone 4 with my new iTunes. I've look online at several forums and webpages but haven't found a workable solution yet.
My issues are that when I attempt to sync my iPhone with the new iTunes, it tells me that it will erase everything on the phone and replace it with what's in iTunes. Well there's nothing in iTunes so this is a problem.
Now I don't purchase anything through iTunes, except for a few apps, and the only thing I really want out of syncing is to get some class recordings, done by Voice Memos, from my iPhone to my computer. The files are all around ~30 Mb so I can't email them.
Is there anyway to do this?
    Thanks,
    Greg

What gets erased is the iTunes/App store purchases on your phone, replaced with the contents of your iTunes library on your computer - in this case nothing.  Voice memos sync only from phone to computer - they don't get deleted.
To avoid losing your apps, music/media:
    1. Defeat automatic syncing on connection to iTunes:  ITunes preferences > Devices > Prevent .... from syncing automatically
    2. Connect phone to computer with iTunes open
    3. ITunes menu > File > Devices > Transfer Purchases
    4. iTunes menu > File > Devices > Back UP
Now OK to sync voice memos to iTunes.

  • Reinstall Mountain Lion problem

I have a Mac Mini (cira 2011?) that I want to clean up and reinstall OS X 6.  I screwed up the process or so I think.  I put the OS X disk in the DVD drive that is built into the Mini and rebooted.  I got a message that no boot was in the drive and that I should put a bootable disk in and reboot.
The first problem now is that the OS X disk is stuck in the drive and I can't seem to make it eject, either by pressing the eject key on my keyboard or rebooting.
Short of a Genius appointment, anyone know how I can eject this OS X 6 program disk or the correct key strokes to hold down when trying to boot this computer to the install disk or making the disk eject from the Mini?

Further update, I was able to remove the OS X 6.x.x Mini Install DVD from the Mini by hooking up a wired mouse and holding the right mouse button down while rebooting.
With the disk out of the computer, the computer will now NOT boot.  I'm getting the same "no bootabe disk found, insert a bootable disk and hold down any key."
Apparently the hard drive got screwed up with the install disk in the computer.  Any ideas as to how to proceed now?

  • Can only open FF one time without rebooting. Have reinstalled. Same problem

Firefox worked fine until 5.0 on this pc. Now, have to reboot or even uninstall/reinstall to get it to open. Then it will only open once.
5.0 works fine on my laptop, just not thid desktop.

I am not having the same issue, and I am running 10.5.2 OS and 6.0.2 FCP. I also have FCP 6.0.2 on a computer running 10.4.11 and I have duplicate media on both systems, and bring a file back and forth and don't have to connect the media one at a time. This was a wide spread problem with 6.0.1, and the 6.0.2 update fixed that for most people. Why you are still having that problem is odd. Try trashing your FCP prefs with FCP RESCUE, and also try repairing your permissions with the Disk Utility.

  • Reinstalling Adobe CC problems

  • Reinstall 10.3 Problems

I recently tried to upgrade to 10.5 from 10.3 using the Archive and Install method. Unfortunately it did not work and the installer quit about a third of the way through the install. After several more attempts, including a simple upgrade install, I gave up and decided to return to 10.3. I also found out that some of my programs will not run on 10.5, so decided to stick with 10.3 for now. Since there were some files on the hard drive which had not backed-up I tried an install of 10.3 using archive and install. It installed fine and everything seemed to work, but I was not able to find the files I was trying to save. I subsequently reinstalled my programs and restored files from my last back-up set. I then discovered things in the application folder which were unique to 10.4/10.5 such as photo boot, front row, automator, etc. I simply trashed them. I also found things in the utility folder which didn't work and seem unique to 10.4/5 such as ODBC Administrator, PODcast Capture, Grapher, etc...I assume I can also trash these. Now to my real problem, System Profiler does not work. When I check it in Get Info it shows it as a 10.5 application. Is there any way for me to get the 10.3 Profiler back on the computer short of doing an erase and install of 10.3? HELP

I did a fresh install on the same hard drive. It simply boots from the fresh install. The old files which exist in the old OS will have to be 'cherry' picked and installed into the 'fresh' install.
The old OS still exists and if I was really into self torture I could probably spend a few more weekends trying to figure out which corrupt file was causing 20 hours of grief. I took action which allowed me to get a system up and running. Its simple....I got a new horse, now I need to find all the documents and programs , so as to get the new horse trained for my simple applications. The reason we back up files is to allow us to take drastic action when systems get hoplessly messed up.
The Itunes 6.02 install was likely the infection causing the DU to 'lose contact' with disk management. I'll fiddle with the old system a bit, but in the mean time I have a perfectly functioning...up to date system. The message files I read , recommended removal of all Itunes PKG files in the receipts folder of the main library. It recommended not deleting a Itunesphonedriver.pkg and itunesx.pkg.
A few other authors were recommending some disc utility programs. The three I saw most common were:
Macjanitor, Tech tool pro and Disc warrior. I would also recommend a duplicate file removal utility, I saw one in the utilities download section at Apple website.
The knowledge I have of Mac systems is limited. I have a small library of OS books (7) and that was very helpful as well, as it helped me understand the concepts that I wanted to define more clearly.

  • Reinstall Elements 10 problem

Windows 7 64 bit did not have an uninstall for Photoshop elements 10 so I deleted all the files from explorer and then did a registry clean. Now when I try to reinstall the program it trys to uninstall and there is no install option. How do I get the installer to reinstall my Elements 10 program?

Did they copy over your programs and settings to the new disk? You can't do that with PSE (unless you do a total system clone).
If that's the situation, you need to download and run this:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
And then go around and manually remove all the bits you can find from applications, hard drive>library>application support>adobe, and your username>library preferences and then reinstall from scratch. Note that spotlight won't help you with this, you have to do it yourself since spotlight is programmed to skip the files you want to find.

  • Help...help...help! Uninstall/reinstall/account-access problems with my Suite

    To Adobe support staff:
I'm having great difficulty trying to find the help I need and would really like to talk to someone at Adobe for which I seem to be unable to do anywhere. I spent great money on my products and nothing here or anywhere will help. This really bugs me here that we are being forced to have to go through this damn forum as I can't get the direct help I need and this delays my progress.
In particular, I've been having trouble trying to uninstall my product as it keeps looking for files that don't exist anywhere and so refuses to uninstall. I had the problem in the first place because when I set up other computer accounts, my Adobe products refuse to operate under them (non-admin account) and recommended uninstalling and reinstalling, a drooling and burdensome process. But I am unable to uninstall all remnants for whatever reasons.
I tried using the adobe clear program too and the same thing occurs and so doesn't complete. I tried removing anything 'adobe' in all my registry files. I tries looking for the msi files that it demands in my installation package to no avail.
Please contact me, Scott Mayers at my account email I provided in my personal account. If there are more than one of me under my name, I'm the one from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It is annoying that I even have to publish this much just to get the help I need. I'm disappointed with Adobe for not giving us appropriate and direct customer help phone numbers when we purchase this at great expense.
    Thank you.

I've been corresponding to someone who responded in email and they are only trying to convince me to upgrade to CS6 at a cost to me. I do NOT want to upgrade as I've already spent a large expense on the CS5.5 Master Suite and the Lightroom edition at the same time of purchase. Whoever is responding to me in email appears not to speak English clearly.
I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate and the above apps. As I mentioned to the guy in email, I am having trouble operating my product in non-administration accounts where I prefer to function for security reasons. There, the Adobe products are giving me an "Error 6" and insisting that I uninstall and reinstall again. I assumed that maybe this was due to me setting up my other accounts after I installed the Adobe Suite. I also was moving files away from the C drive in order to secure the files separately.
I tried the uninstalls and most of it worked except for the Adobe Acrobat and other remnants. I managed to remove as much as registry markers of Adobe and then also used the download that Adobe suggested to completely clean all Adobe material. This failed as it keeps looking of msi files in odd locations that don't exist.
I only have three remnants left: Adobe Content Viewer, Adobe Community Help, and Adobe Story. The windows uninstaller will not work nor does the cleaner. These are the indicated problems:
Adobe Content Viewer unable to uninstall.
    Windows Installer:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resourse that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'setup.msi' in the box belolw.
    Use source:
    C:\Users\(main admin account)\AppData\Local\Temp\flaAC337.tmp\
X The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it.
Adobe Community Help unable to unistall.
    C:\Users\(admin)\AppData\Local\Temp\fla7002.tmp\
Same as above but upon clicking okay instead of 'cancel':
!The path 'C\Users\(admin)\AppData\Local\Temp\fla7002.tmp\setup.msi' cannot be found.
Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'setup.msi'
in a folder from which you can install thie product Adobe Community Help.  [OK]
    Adobe Story

  • Reinstalled windows now problem

first the specs:  rs480m2 motherboard,  amd 3700, raptor, 4 512mb corsair ram, ati x800.
I wanted to start off fresh so I reinstalled windows via the emachines disks i had. I installed all the drivers from msi update live and flashed the bios to the current one.  Had a couple problems.
    1) couldn't verify windows correctly
    2) whenever I play an mp3 or a movie,  or get on a game,  I would get a sort of video lag and audio popping.
So, I thought maybe the emachines disk was the problem,  went out and bought Win Xp.  I installed it and now windows runs fine except for the same popping and lagging.  I updated all the drivers from msi update live.
Its weird cause if i go into a game like battlefield 2, it will lag and pop for a while, and then clear up and run fine,  and then ten minutes later will do it again constantly.  When I first get on the cpu I can play mp3's fine, but after something intensive like a game or movie it will start doing it again.
I don't know what could be the problem, all the drivers are up to date, windows has all the updates,  the only thing I did differently this time was flash the bios,  I flashed the bios again to make sure it was all good and it flashed again fine.   Think I might try to flash back to an older bios, anyway I can do this using the windows flashing program from msi update?
    Sorry so long,
    Any help appreciated

This may well be due to flashing the Bios back to a standard one from MSI. Most OEM's make changes to their Bios and Windows installs to make the machine proprietary. Now that you have an MSI bios you may have to use a normal Window and not the one from eMachines.
Just my best guess as I am not sure what eMachines has setup with your machine.
