Reinstalling the iTunes that I liked

I use computers, but I don't claim to understand how they work, so please excuse what may seem like a dumb question.
I liked Snow Leopard more than Mountain Lion (the missing scroll arrows) and the older version of iTunes more than the current one, and its recent predecessors. Therefore, I'm going to start using the Snow Leopard side of my hard drive. That will solve half of the problem, but I still have a problem with iTunes. How can I reinstall an earlier version of iTunes that existed before Apple ruined it? I suppose I can just uninstall iTunes when in the Snow Leopard side of my hard drive, but how do I obtain an older version of iTunes to install? Also, I'm not sure when iTunes went wrong, so which version should I install? I want a version that allows me to type an artist in the iTunes search window to produce one continuous list of all of the recordings by that artist in my iTunes library. Similarly, I want to be able to type in the title of a song to produce one continuous list of all of the versions of that song in my iTunes library. Of course, if this can be done with the current version of iTunes, I'd appreciate knowing how to do it.

The "Show Sidebar" option was in my VIEW drop down menu this morning, but clicking on it didn't help. My iTunes search bar stil only shows one 40-second recording by Karen Carpenter, but I know that there are at least two more because I can retrieve them by typing their titles into the iTunes search bar. I also played them.
I'm wondering if it might help to completely uninstall iTunes and then reinstall it. For years I complained about the lousy quality of so many websites. There were so many ways in which they were defective, or so I thought. Then, someone had me trash certain of my Safari preferrrences, and I found out that the problem had been with my browser, not the websites. Could it be that my problem with iTunes is simply that some of its preferrences have become corrupted? If so, that won't help me, because I'd get lost trying to find the right ones to fix.
Finallly, just to make sure that I'm not wasting my time, are you saying that if my version of iTunes (11.02) was operating correctly, I would be able to do the things I have mentioned, i.e., produce a continuous list of all the recordings of a particular artist in my iTunes library by typing that artist's name into the iTunes' search bar?

Don't know if ubuntu had repartition everything but you could try pressing F11 repeatley after power on button is pressed.

Did you place the iPod in recovery mode? That is required for a disabled iPod

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

well i have found that i needed to not just uninstall itunes, but also apple mobile device support, bonjour apple software update and apple application support - uninstall all these and then install itunes - that seesm to have fixed it, though now i am sync fail - that's a different matter perhaps

I have Windows 7 on my computer and was able access itunes until just recently. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes multiple times and that does not work. That message is usually a sign that you tried to roll back to an earlier build of iTunes, but occasionally I've seen it connected to a new upgrade. This technique should fix things.
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

I have uninstalled and reinstalled 4 times now and the music that was purchased is "dead in the water" unless I can move it into my PC library. Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:

I have asked iTunes to print a cover and get a Windows failed and it shuts down iTunes. The iTunes support asks for a serial number. My previous iTunes won't print CD cover is what started this. I have removed and reinstalled the iTunes, Quick Time etc

I received this instruction from "http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923. I reinstalled Version 11 and it still will not print the CD covers and shuts down sometimes when I ask it to print. I hope they will find a way to make it work.

Well my first guess was wrong. The line that failed is the one that writes out the image to disk. I've not revisited the code for that script for ages, but it seems I did add in an extra test for missing files a little while later, then forgot to upload the change. I can reproduce the error message if I deliberately rename a file to confuse iTunes so that seems the most likely reason for your problem with the script. I've uploaded a new build of CreateFolderArt which should work better.

When I selected the Itunes store on my win PC today-the program was closed by windows with windows saying there was a problem. I tried a couple of times and then uninstalled the itunes software and reinstalled it with the same results. The program has always worked before but I have not used it recently since the Ipad now receives it's software updates right off the router. I am running Win 7 with IE10. Anyone with the same problem?

My post has been viewed 24 times, and yet have had no answers. I have always like adobe products, however if this is the type of support they offer, I will never purchase another product of theirs. Troubleshooting after reinstalling the software that came with my macbook

Hi, I'm a new user of mac products and my macbook crashed refusing to start up (it would just turn on and keep loading till froze).
I followed exactly the steps "Problem meet solution" in the little manual and had to use the Mac OS X Install Disk 1.
The disk utility repaired the HD volume (error found: incorrect block count for file flatfile.db - should have been 708 instead of 354), then still couldn't start up on HD. Did it all over again, repaired HD again (this time error: incorrect block count for file .store.db - should have been 5202 instead of 2601), but this time went further selecting "continue" and reinstalling Mac OS X from the discs that came with my macbook. Reinstalled - successfully finally - by chosing the option "previous settings archived in new file".
The only problem i had was at login ... it would not recognize my user password... which was the same one since i first turn on my new bought macbook. Anyways, i used again the disc 1, selected change my password and this time i managed to sign in with the new one (same old user).
1)NOW, question: do i have to re-update my software? Because before I had Mac OS X 10.5.2 (i always kept my computer up to date) and now, after reinstalling the software I have Mac OS X 10.5
or i should be able to reactivate them from the Previous Systems file (in this case how do i do that?
2) Can't figure still out my master password that unlocks the file vault plus i can't activate again the root admin user from Directory Utility ... i click it but doesn't do anything. Why is this and how can be sorted out?

1) yes, i will take all the updates. and ok, i won't touch the previous systems file
2) in regards to master password ... i tried all the passwords i ever used. not sure it's just "forgetting". Reason: as I mentioned before: The only problem i had after reinstalling the software was at login ... it would not recognize my user password... (and I add, nor the master password) which was the same one since i first turn on my new bought macbook.
As i couldn't sign in, used again the disc 1 to reset my administrator password and it did save but with the notice that i should "use the keychain access to reset the password for users login" .This time i managed to sign in with the new one (same old user). Then I went to the keychain clicked login and changed the password for keychain login. Did i do good? do I have to change something else. please let me know as don't really know.... i just follow help advice.
3)in regards to root password ... i had it also before ... using help on "security" issue ... as i connect to different networks ... i read that one could help ... please understand that i'm learning as i go, as this time i don't have someone else to do those things for me. so why doesn't it activate anymore? and why would it be better not to activate it?
4)speaking of learning, from my initial post where i posted the errors that my disk utility found ... what do u think caused my computer to freeze? i was browsing on safari facebook as well as I had both yahoo messenger and skype opened... first the messenger froze, then crushed, then i restarted it , then froze, then all the rest froze, without responding to force quit.
5) after reinstalling the software, i still have yahoo messenger and other applications.... is that safe to use now? they are still in my applications
and last 6) did I do everything correct when my computer would not start up?
