As an update, suggested route from Adobe Care was to use CC cleaner to clear off the installer and re-install it (see here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5418705#5418705).
I did this (someohow wiping out Photoshop in the process!!) and re-installed Creative Cloud Installer.  Still the same issue of 'Unknown Server Error' on log in.
It should be added I am on a broadband network through my company.  While the IT here always say they dont really do much in the way of a Firewall I do have problems with some connection types (such as email programmes, radio apps and Dropbox can be a bit funny too).  But the intallers had all worked without issue before this update.
Awaiting a call back from Adobe now.

  • No more download of Creative Cloud after new installation Windows 7.

I had several blue screens due to a lack of the battery. Therefore I reinstalled Windows 7 on my harddisk. I wanted to reinstall Creative Cloud but the code I have bought was an activation code and this code has been used. So no more download possible of CC. What is wise to do next?

    Hi All,
I also encountered the same error on my Apple Mac Book Pro running OSX Version 10.9.2 (Mavericks). First I encountered the "Error 13" where the Creative Folder was unable to complete the Installation and came up with a message "Error Starting Creative Cloud" Cookies Dir Cannot Make Folder /Cookies Permission Denied (Error 13). First I followed the below procedure :-
Completely Uninstall the Adobe Creative Cloud from the Applications.
Click on the Finder and Go to Folder ~/Library/Application Support
Right Click on the Folder and Click on Get Info (cmd+i) and refer to the "Sharing & Permission"
Unlock using your Password the Sharing and Permission Control.
Add the Username that you have logged in and make sure it has "Read and Write Access" Refer to "Sriharshaa Prabhakar"
Click on the "Small Settings Icon" and Select "Apply to enclosed items"
    Click on Lock
    Install the Adobe Creative Cloud.
I also encountered an error while logging into the Creative Cloud after successful installation. I chose the below method to resolve the issue"-
Quit the Adobe Creative Cloud from the Task Bar above.
Click on the Finder and Go To Folder ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Right Click on the Folder OOBE and Click Get Info.
    Rename the Folder to OOBE.old
    Launch the Adobe Creative Cloud
Loginto to the Adobe Creative Cloud and chose the Application that you want to Install.
Thanks for all the help and hope the procedure above helps people who are looking for step by step approach to solve this silly installation issue.

I had creative cloud installed in a parallels deskto virtual machine on my mac, I delete the virtual machine without deactivate the creative cloud. after reinstall a new VM running windows 8.1. pro 64 bits, I downloaded the creative cloud installer but it does not install ang give an Error code 72, it is assuming that I already are using the Creative cloud in 2 computer, but itis no the case, how to solve this situation?

Dave: I did the Microsoft Update two days before this happened, and rebooted as required.  I just created a new restore point and lauched Creative Cloud.  Now I get the famous white screen:
It just sits and spins (been 10 minutes now).
Fortunately, I saved away this command (which I've had to use 4 or 5 times already):
    del %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE\opm.db
Unfortunately now, I get this (even after closing the above window):
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
So I killed everything that said "Adobe" in the task manager and this time, the command succeeded.
Fortunately, the current apps seem to still work.  I can't seem to find the "Creative Cloud" app in the applications on my system, but I launched Photoshop CC, told it to look for updates, and got a list of the 5 prgorams that need updates in the Adobe Application manager:
I will proceed with the updates, holding my breath.

  • Creative Cloud update fails with "the download appears to be corrupted" when tried through our company's firewall, but succeeds if the computer is taken outside the firewall

Creative Cloud update fails with "the download appears to be corrupted" when tried through our company's firewall, but succeeds if the computer is taken outside the firewall. The IT guys have opened up the ports and URL's specified in the Adobe documentation.  I have also captured the network traffic of both the failed and successful downloads for IT to examine (using Little Snitch), however they can find nothing to account for the problem.  Adobe just seems to "give up and die" after about 2-3 minutes.  Why is this?  How can I or IT fix this?
Can I send the above log files to someone familiar with these issues for examination?

  • Acrobat keeps crashing after installing through creative cloud and Im at a loss!

I had Acrobat installed before I purchased creative cloud and it worked fine.  Ever since I installed it through creative cloud I can't get it to work. It launches, and lets me scan though a few pages with the page down and then just quits unexpectedly.
I've updated all the software as it has come through application manager. I need to be able to get into the software and edit some PDFs for a client but Im at a loss as to what it could be.
Hardware: Macbook Air 11" 1.6 Ghz 4GB ram
    Mac OSX 10.7.4

Thanks Cathrine, looking forward to what you find out.
We have purged the system of all adobe files using adobe cleaner and have re-installed after fixing permissions and other minor disk issues, and then running a full course of maintenance and cleaning tasks with Oynx but still no luck.
We too have no real use for Reader, but in the moment all we needed to do was open a pdf but Reader had the same sympoms as Acrobat, thank god for Preview!

  • Creative Cloud Desktop App installer crash (Mac OSX)

I wanted to update my existing CC Desktop App, but that didn't work out, so I uninstalled it, and tried to reinstall. But that brought me into a whole other world of pain and tears.
Basically, when I finally worked out where I could download the .dmg (hint: if you try to download the desktop app installer through chrome on mac, you'll get the .exe), and I ran the installer, and just says this: "Downloading Creative Cloud Desktop App" and then promptly crashes, leaving no trails behind. I cleaned my mac from old logs and whatnot, did not work. I ran Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool, that just deleted all my existing CC programs so I can't even work with those anymore, but the cleaner provided nothing to let the Desktop app installer actually work.
I have a Mid 2012 Macbook Pro "13, Mac OSX 10.9.5, 2.5 GHz i5, 8GB RAM. I've had virtually no problems with Creative Cloud, except After Effects 2014, which could never complete an update.
I suspect I need some kind of "offline" installer for the Desktop app.

SkyOtic if you are being offered an exe by Chrome then I would recommend reviewing your web browser settings and add-ons.  It appears that Chrome is currently identifying your computer as utilizing a Windows operating system.
Please download and install the Creative Cloud Desktop application from Creative Cloud Help | Creative Cloud for desktop.  I would strongly you recommend the use of a different web browser unless you have corrected the behavior occurring within Chrome.
If you continue to face difficulties then I would recommend reviewing Error "Failed to Install" Creative Cloud Desktop application - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/failed-install-creative-cloud-desktop.html.

  • I cannot reinstall the Creative Cloud Desktop Application

Yes, I have checked similar questions!
I have a CC Photography plan and am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.
I wanted to update Lightroom to Lightroom CC from 5.71 but the Creative Cloud App failed to run. I attempted to reinstall it but it fails with error code 50.
I have attempted to remove the app through Windows Control panel which failed and so I downloaded and ran the CC Cleaner app. Creative Cloud app will not install
I have researched this problem on this forum and the Adobe site and believe that I have tried everything over the past week.
To add to my problems, I originally had a standalone version of Lightroom 5 which I considered may be causing a conflict. I have logged out of my account and attempted to re log in and my serial number is not accepted!
I am totally confused. There appears to be several others experiencing similar issues but none of the suggested solutions that I have seen appears to work for me.
Adobes help seems somewhat lacking. Can any users suggest a solution? I have considered a total uninstall and reinstall but am loathe to go down that route blindly.
Can anyone offer a solution please?

I had this same error and managed to get around it by running the .msi file that the CC app downloaded to a temp folder on my own. Steps were:
    1. Find the location Adobe_Lightroom_X64.msi (in a a temp folder)
    2. Run it and install (serial number was already pre-filled out)
    3. Restart the CC desktop app
It then appeared as installed under ‘Your Apps’ and works as usual.
