Reinstalling version 4.0

Question

I need to reinstall Acrobat 4.0 on a Mac PowerBook G4 in order to print documents created in system 9.2 on printers that accept only system 10.6 or later.  The later versions of Acrobat recognize the .pdf created in 4.0.  But without being able to install 4.0, I'm unable to print my new or existing system 9 files.

The problem is that I can't seem to reinstall Acrobat 4.0 (the version I've been using successfully for several years).  Here's the background.
The hard drive in my PowerBook G4 was showing signs of aging (slowing up and giving unusual icons when starting the computer).  I replaced it with a solid state drive (OWC Legacy), which I was able to install successfully.  I tried to load Acrobat 4.0 from the original CD, but it wouldn't install.  I tried to transfer the previously installed 4.0 on the older hard drive, but it too would not install on the new SSD.  All my other applications for both System 9 and the newer OS 10.4.11 installed without a problem.
I also installed Acrobat 9.0 (for OSX) on the solid state drive.  However that version is not useful for my main application, which is to print word processing documents made originally on Fullwrite Professional (a program I started using with my original Mac, bought in 1984).  I "print" these documents with Acrobat 4.0, creating a .pdf that can be transferred to a newer MacBook Air that in turn connects with a printer compatible with system 10.8.2, the system on the MacBook Air.  I cannot transfer a Fullwrite document directly to the MacBook Air because Fullwrite is compatible only with the old system 9.
When I now try to print a Fullwrite document, it designates Acrobat 9.0, but that version cannot read a file created in system 9, and so nothing prints.  Any advice on how to remedy this problem, other than to reinstall the old failing hard drive, would be very much appreciated.
