Reinstalling Vista Basic

Sorry if this has been asked before. I have a ThinkPad T61 that I purchased over 5 years ago (August 2007). I've been running Linux on it, but now I want to reinstall the original Windows OS. It came with Vista Basic, but no OS disks were included in my package, and I can no longer locate the recovery disks I created 5 years ago. I have the Vista Basic license and activation code on the bottom of the laptop, but no software. I am kind of stuck, and I found no relevant help on the Lenovo website. Does anyone know how I can reisntall Vista Basic without the recovery disks? I did pay for the OS, so I am hoping there is a way to recover it even though Lenovo didn't ship them with the laptop.

Reinstall Vista Home over XP PRO SP3. XP Pro SP3 was installed over Vista

MY Dell Inspion originally had Vista Home Basic 32 bit installed.
At my request vendor installed XP PRO.
Subsequently updated XP Pro to SP3.
As you know, XP Pro support has ended.
Have Re-installation DVD for Vista Home 32 bit.
Question: May I reinstall Vista Home without having to perform a CLEAN Install. IF yes, please give me definitive step-by-step instructions. IF no, need ALL the specifics so may replace XP Pro with
Vista Home.

Satellite L300-19U - How can I reinstall Vista without working DVD drive?

I have a big problem with my notebook Toshiba Satellite L300-19U.
I did installed 1month ago Windows XP on it and now is my DVD-ROM broken, it didn't read DVD just CD's. So I can't use my Vista recovery DVD to reinstall Vista. Did anyone had the same problem?
I heard there is a partition (hiden) where the recovery is on it. How I can find this partition? And if I find her, can I boot directly from the partition to recover Vista? If no,is there a other chance to recover it?
Please help me to reinstall the Vista recovery partition!

Hi!
The hidden partition that you mean is a Windows Vista feature but you cant restore Vista with this partition. The point is that the partition is also deleted because you have installed Windows XP on it.
Restoring Vista without recovery disk is only possible if Vista is still installed on it. Then you can go in the advanced boot menu and select repair my computer. Then you can choose the Toshiba HDD recovery option. This is a feature that restores Vista from the second partition.
But as I said only possible with installed Vista.
Just one question: Why do you dont go to an authorized service provider? If your notebook is still under warranty you should get a new CD/DVD drive for free. Normally it should only take few days and then you are able to install Vista again! :)

Installing EBS R12 on Windows Vista Basic

I am trying to install EBS R12 media pack on my computer having Windows Vista Basic.
I could have the installation pass 2 steps out of 5.
But while performing the third step, it is failing with the following error:

XL Reporter with Windows Vista Basic and Excel 2007

Hi there,
I am facing a problem with my SAP Business One edition. I am using XL Reporter with my Windows XP Professional Edition and Microsoft Office 2003 and/or 2007, and it works perfectly, but when i try to connect my laptop, loaded with Windows Vista Basic edition and Microsoft Office 2007, it does not support.
When i try to add IXXLReporter.dll in Excel 07, it does not work, it neither shows me any error or any confirmation message. When i try to run XL Reporter from SAP, it starts process and hangs.
Can anybody tell me perfectly that whether SAP B1 is compatible with Vista Home Edition or not ...???
If it works, what changes i have to make in my SAP or Vista or Excel, please inform me soon. . .

Host credentials problem in Vista Basic

Dear All,
I am using Vista basic OS. I have installed Oracle 10g. I have to use import functionality to import the data. In order to use that in enterprise manager,It asks to enter Host credentials. I tried with DBA credentials, It gives invalid password error. I also tried to add ora_dba group,but unfortunately I cann't add in vista basic as it doesn't support adding Local security group snapin. So please help me how and where to add host credential in order to access import functionality in enterprise manager.

As you already know Vista basic and home premium not supported but you can give a try by going to
First create a user with a password (hope you can do this vista basic)
control panel --> adminstrative tools--> look for local security policy (if it exists in vista basic) --> local policies and search for user assignments--> log on as a batch job , add your new user and apply changes. Then use this new user as host credentials.

How to reinstall vista in L 305 - S 5919 from recovery partition

hi,
when i take the recovery partition it shows a "system recovery option" dialogue box. but it is not showing any OS in it. so i clicked on "load drivers" which prompts me to select drivers from the installation media. there i can see my prmary hard disk with 140gb, a 35mb boot drive, 1.46gb toshiba recovery drive, none of which is helpful in selecting the driver. Can anyone help me in selecting the OS?
One more thing is that, when i take disk management from "my computer" properties, there it is showing a drive with 7gb which i am not able to access from anywhere?why is it so?

but, my problem is still unsolved...
i have gone through the link u provided(http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/bulletin.jsp?ref=EV&soid=2222431&ct=SB) and also through the userguide. My system is in the second category with 3 partitions...140GB, 1.46GB, 7.22 GB.
And so i suppose all my recovery files and images will be in the 7.22GB partition.
When i start my system i pressed on 0(zero) to go into that partition. But there is no option which provides a recovery. The options present were "select OS" and there windows vista basic is present. If i click on that then the system will boot normally, and no recovery happens. The other option being "check for memory errorrs". That also wont provide any recovery option..
please help me in resolving this problem.

Have got a Windows Vista basic and had run a a trial version of LR4 on it - just purchased an LR5 without checking out the complete system requirements. Can I get a complete download of LR4 so that the money I've spent is not wasted. I am not interested in upgrading to Windows 7 currently.

There are still retail packs of LR 4 to be found out there - for example, on EBay. It's just important to be careful whether it's a full version, an upgrade, or a student + teacher version. And to be certain it's genuine, and has a serial number which has never been activated before. The serial number that you get with that, should work with any 4.x version of LR, on either MacOS or Windows. And it will almost certainly be heavily discounted compared with the previous price direct from Adobe.
Of course the other way is to upgrade to Windows 7 SP1, which should also be available discounted, and thus eke out the life of an older PC (I personally would not go to Win8 in such a case). Maybe pick up some RAM also, if that's a problem, provided you can do so cheaply (since that will be simply thrown away in due course, when you get a newer PC),
Using LR4 instead of LR5 you do miss out on a few nice features, as well as potentially the Raw support and lens profiles for more recent camera equipment.
LR 4 is obsolete as far as Adobe is concerned. They will not sell a Serial Number for it.

T61p upgrading Windwos Vista Basic to Ultimate

So I finally got my laptop on July 29 after ordering it on the 15th, and i am VERY happy with it. The build quality is amazing!
Anyways, when i ordered the t61p i always thought of downgrading it to xp pro, so i orderd the windows vista home basic, but i just found out that if i downgraded to xp my intel turbo memory will go to waste so i guess no downgrading for me! so instead i might as well upgrade to Vista Ultimate. So before i upgrade i assume everything will be wiped and i need to burn recovery discs/drives? unlike other companys such as HP since i have a hp laptop it has another drive that is the recovery drive, IBM does not. and when i pres thinkvantage and do Backupnow i hve to back up my harddrive as well? i want to just back up my system vista basic incase i mess up. if i have to then do i just do a backup and plop everything in a DVD and burn it? after that i put in my vista Ultimate and follow onscreen instructions right? any help would be great! i don't want to do anything until i get replies from somebody that has more experince than me at this..!

Help with moving iTunes files from windows.old to reinstalled Vista.

I had to reinstall Vista and iTunes. I have found what I believe are my iTunes music files (.lib)
When trying to add these files to the newly installed iTunes, they will not add. Please help me. I do not want to sync my iPhone or my wife's iPhone and risk erasing all the songs we have on them.

Had to reinstall vista on pc. won't recognise any backup files.any ideas how to extract back up files?

I had to reinstall vista on my pc. Did a backup of everything onto an external drive using the windows backup system. Tried going into windows restore function but it says it can't find the files. If I go into the backup through windows explorer I can find the mobilesync back up files but don't know what to do with them as I don't know that much about computers etc. I have independent back up of all my music and photos etc. so not bothered about them but would like to be able to get my podcasts back and of course my Apps! Does anyone have any advice?
Did wonder if I transfer my purchases to the newly loaded iTunes will this solve the Apps problem?

He recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop that's running Windows Vista Basic. He has a Dell desktop computer at home as well that's running Windows XP. I had him purchase a Linksys WRT54GL router. We want to network the laptop running Windows Vista Basic and the desktop running Windows XP. Is there anything we should be aware of? Anything to know before hand that will help the process go smoother? Will I face any issues being that his new laptop is running Windows Vista Basic and his desktop is running Windows XP? No not very much ... if you are using wired connection then make sure that the IP address on Local Area Connection should be 192.168.1.X ...... try to ping the Gateway address 192.168.1.1 ..... then 4.2.2.2 & at last yahoo.com....
If you are using wireless connection .... then make sure that the wireless network name should be same as in the router ......
