Reinstalling Vista on the Idea Center K210

Hey,
Hope you are having a good day. I have just decided to reinstall Vista because of too many things that are an issue. I am NOT infected, But I believe my registry is screwed, because after I did some scans like Combofix, and AVZ, and HIJackThis. I did this trying to find out what the picky little things are that keep nagging. After I did the computer went crazy. IE 7 got messed up tried to upgrade to IE8 and when I got it installed could only run as administrator with the protected mode off. Could not turn it on, tried resetting the default settings, did not help finally did a system restore. Appears okies now BUT I think it is ony a matter of time.....NOW
My question....can you give me simple tut's for a One Key Recovery Install. I have everything backed up, but in reading the book it is a bit confusing. I know there is a recovery partition in on the hard drive, and the harddrive is sufficient to handle the recovery. The only reinstall I have ever done is with XP and a recovery CD. Would appreciate any assist with this.

Thank you very much for the quick reply. Sorry I am a little late getting back, as I have had things at home distracting me. I got a prompt to enable UAC, which I did. After that my IE 7 got the Protected Mode back, which I was unable to do in IE 7 Internet options. I was having to run IE 7 "as Administrator" and I can't surf around with the Protected Mode off all the time. Everything right now seems cool, but I still think I will have to do a system recovery. One of the scans showed where some windows updated were interrupted when they were being installed. I did not interrupt them, but may have had a shut down because of power surge or Power was interrupted, I have no idea. I only know that I know better than to do anything when I am d/l and installing windows updates. I do nothing until it goes through it's thing and reboots.
I will run the computer for a few more, because right now I have too many things pressing to do a reinstall. I have never done the recovery in Vista. I reinstalled windows in my Dell Computer 3 times at least, and my son's a few more times. Thanks again for the info about the one key recovery.

PS: I did not disable the UAC, BUT My friend may have when he was checking on something. I ask him, but have no reply yet.
LOL! Vijay had no intentions of PM'ing ya, but thanks for the input. I do think Lenovo needs to get someone on this board answering some questions. (IMHO)

Idea Center K210 on a Domain

We recently purchased a K210 that came with Vista Home installed. We upgraded to Windows XP Pro so we could put the machine into our Active Directiory. We have all of the drivers for XP from the Lenovo site but we have an intermittant issue where the K210 can't find the domain after a reboot. I remove the computer name from the Active directory and we successfully add the k210 back to the domain. Is there anything that can be done to prevent this?

First thing first moving from Vista Home to XP Pro is a downgrade (now that I got that of my chest)
Second your problem is not a hardware problem because you stated "I remove the computer name from the Active directory and we successfully add the k210 back to the domain."
That leaves you with a configuration problem. You mention that you got all your drivers for XP from Lenovo, because of the limited information you gave us I can give you three options
1. Go to http://www.versiontracker.com/windows/xp/drivers/network which will help you check your network drivers (Information Pack which can take some time but very throw,)
2. You can down load a program called Driver Updater Pro by http://www.ixitools.com There is a cost but more then worth it.
3. This will cost you in man power, however I think it's one of the best options. Every system on your network keeps an event log of everything that happens. <Right click "COMPUTER" this will bring up a sub menu pick "MANAGE" this will bring you to "COMPUTER MANAGEMENT" in that window you will find "EVENT VIEWER" open that and you will get a listing of all administrative event. This should give you a clue as to what is going on on your network. I would still do option two, i install iot on almost all of my clients and they enjoy the inproved proformacethis!

iTunes starts fine, and I can do stuff, then within a minute or two or three it gives me an error message pop-up.

I've chosen both items, neither does anything but close the program. This problem is new with iTunes 10.5; I did not have it before.

I had to reinstall vista on my pc. Did a backup of everything onto an external drive using the windows backup system. Tried going into windows restore function but it says it can't find the files. If I go into the backup through windows explorer I can find the mobilesync back up files but don't know what to do with them as I don't know that much about computers etc. I have independent back up of all my music and photos etc. so not bothered about them but would like to be able to get my podcasts back and of course my Apps! Does anyone have any advice?
Did wonder if I transfer my purchases to the newly loaded iTunes will this solve the Apps problem?

Idea for the Notification Center

Wouldn't it be a good idea, if you could get the notification center to send you a notification, every time you got a notification on Facebook?

Looks like that happened in OS X 10.8.2.

Windows vista, I did a reinstall but only the latest emails appear, how do I get the remainder in my inbox?

The reason I reinstalled Thunderbird was, because I read somewhere in the community forums that my problem might be solved. The original problem was computer related, I accidentally erased all network protocols on my wife's Japanese PC and we had no internet connection for sometime. When I finally unravelled the connection dilemma and got things working the wife was in shock because her inbox was empty. I reassured her that the emails resided outside the programme. Hence the try at reinstalling Thunderbird. Well, I didn't get the result I was hoping for. The reinstall only fetched the messages that were waiting on the server. Now I'm not sure of what exactly the problem is. But I'm confident it is solvable but can I do it? Am I able?

According to your Question Description, you used POP3 mail in Thunderbird. If you didn't remove the OLD Thunderbird Profile, you can get the data.

my Laptop (Dell Vostro - running XP SP3) neither recognizes my iPad 2 nor my iPhone 4!
Both devices are working correctly with my desktop PC running Vista with the same USB cable!
I followed trouble shooting guides, checked that the drivers are present, installed, removed and reinstalled the latest iTunes (in the correct order together with the other Apple software components) etc. but nothing works! The interesting thing is that when I plug the iPad or the iPhone in the laptop's usb-port for a second Windows correctly shows the devices either as iPad or iPhone in the "Device Manager" with an exclamation point !!! But then after a split second Windows allways switches the devices to Digital Camera and the correct iPad or iPhone disappears !!! => That is why I guess that this is a driver problem!
Does anybody have any idea what else I can try?
Is there a manual way to install the drivers for the iPad 2 or iPhone 4?

Cannot reinstall PS5 on the same PC

Last week I have reinstalled my PC with Win7 Ultimate (clean install)
As I was having some problems after installing PS5 as well, I uninstalled it from Programs and Features to reinstall it.
Now I cannot reinstall it any more.
I checked with the 'Advisor' and it keeps saying I should first uninstall CS4 or CS5 though I never had CS4 and Photoshop has been uninstalled and the PC rebooted.
I do still have a LR3.6 installation, though, which I finally got working properly after trying twice as well and do not want to uninstall that.
The error I get:
Can somebody please advise?

No, the problem is not solved at all...
Sorry if I sounded a bit grumpy but this thing is really giving my nerves a workout.
And - I did not expect a crash either... I have uninstalled and reinstalled my previous version CS2 several times under other Windows versions, among others on a Vista laptop to see if it would be ok - no problem at all. Same with PS5. The only differece now is that my Win7 is 64 bits and I start wondering if that is not the problem... PS installed the 64 bits too as far as I could see but something has gone awfully wrong...
Windows is fine now and everything in and around it working fine too as long as I don't go anywhere near PS. After the last repair of Windows mentioned here I tried the Clear Tool again - and all went down again... Another repair...
At the moment I am giving myself a break from it all but to me PS and LR are the most important things on the PC. All else I could do from my laptop as well... I am playing with the idea that reinstalling Win7 all over again will be the only way to get rid of it and reinstall (and see if it goes any better)... but well - all that work all over again? Not an attractive idea...
If you have any more ideas what I could try, I'm open to suggestions...

Persistent Boot Problems in Several Idea Center B320's

Purchased an Idea Center B320 several weeks ago. During first week suddenly was unable to boot and a "...unable to locate hard drive partition" message (or something similar) appeared. Lenovo tech support was ineffective, first having me restore original settings (and losing all my data) and then suggesting I return the computer to retailer where I purchased it. I exchanged unit for a new B320. After two weeks use, upon attempted restart, got same message and despite repeated tries, was unable to boot. I unpluged machine, replugged it in, and then was able to boot. Since then this has happened one more time (upon restart) and disconnecting then reconnecting the power supply worked again.
My questions are:
1. Any ideas for a more permenant solution?
2. Anyone else had a similar problem? I am wondering if this is a widespread product defect?

I've got the same issue after couple of weeks of use.
It doesn't boot any more. I reinstalled the OS ans he restarted just for a while. After some reboot, it suddenly stopped with a message saying that no OS was found and bla bla...
By installing the OS I saw that the HD was strangely partitioned.
One partition 100Mb
the main partition more than 900Gb and a third partition around 10Gb named OEM.
Any idea about the purpose of that ?

Satellite L300-19U - How can I reinstall Vista without working DVD drive?

I have a big problem with my notebook Toshiba Satellite L300-19U.
I did installed 1month ago Windows XP on it and now is my DVD-ROM broken, it didn't read DVD just CD's. So I can't use my Vista recovery DVD to reinstall Vista. Did anyone had the same problem?
I heard there is a partition (hiden) where the recovery is on it. How I can find this partition? And if I find her, can I boot directly from the partition to recover Vista? If no,is there a other chance to recover it?

The hidden partition that you mean is a Windows Vista feature but you cant restore Vista with this partition. The point is that the partition is also deleted because you have installed Windows XP on it.
Restoring Vista without recovery disk is only possible if Vista is still installed on it. Then you can go in the advanced boot menu and select repair my computer. Then you can choose the Toshiba HDD recovery option. This is a feature that restores Vista from the second partition.
But as I said only possible with installed Vista.
Just one question: Why do you dont go to an authorized service provider? If your notebook is still under warranty you should get a new CD/DVD drive for free. Normally it should only take few days and then you are able to install Vista again! :)

3rd party app alerts no longer show up in the notification center

I upgraded my iPhone 5 to iOS7 last week and ever since alerts for 3rd party apps (like gmail and others) haven't been showing up in the notification center. I've checked my settings for both the notification center and for my individual apps to make sure they weren't reset, made sure my apps were up to date (not all of them have had updates since iOS7 was released but some definitely have), tried toggling them on and off and rebooting, but so far nothing has helped. The banner alerts work, but nothing pops up in the notifications. Has anyone else experienced this or have any other ideas how to fix it?
I've generally been pretty pleased with the new version of iOS, but I'm hating everything about the changes made to the notification center. Even if I do get my notifications to work again, I hate that we're forced to have that "Today" tab even if you switch the summaries off! I like the unified page from iOS6 much better.

IW41: automatic update of activity type when changing the work center?

Hello colleagues,
when doing a time confirmation with IW41, we have following problem:
In the PM order the operations are assigned to a neutral executing work center, as it not known which individual technician is completing the operation later on.
Now when the individual technician is entering the time confirmation with IW41, system is proposing the work center indicated in the operation from the PM order, then technician is overwriting the work center proposal with his own individual work center ID (and pressing Enter), but the activity type is not getting updated automatically. So the technician must jump to field "activity type" and choose the correct activity type.
Is there any solution (hopefully with user exits!) to have the field "activity type" automatically updated with the one indicated in the work center, which was entered manually?

yes, as usual all PM work centers have only 1 activity type assigned in the costing tab.
We also checked the settings of the activity type (KL03), but we just found one difference: the price indicator was set on 3 "Determined manually" - we've changed to 1 "Plan price, automatically based on activity" (..same setting as for the act. type of the work center with working update of act.type).
We tested already all possible constellations and scenarios, but we have not found any good reason for the behaviour.
