Reinstalling Windows after harddisk failure.

Hi, a month ago my laptop (on the back it says its a P300 M18) had a critical harddisk failure, now i finally got it back with a replacement harddisk but i have no clue how to reinstal windows vista which originally came with it again. (i don't remember it being on a cd or dvd) When i opened the laptop up i thought i was going to see the same installation process as when i first got the laptop, instead i get a black dos-like screen apparantly under Windows 98. the only thing i get is "C:\>" asking me for a command or filename. I'm lost, any help is appreciated.

Loss of TACACS key after harddisk failure

Our WAE/WAVEs in the field are configured for TACACS Autherntication. During harddisk failures we could not access the devices. The ACS logs a invalid TACACS secret. In running-config the "tacacs key ****" statement is missing. The statement still could be found in the startup-config.
Is the "tacacs key" statement dependent on the harddisk?

The internal WAAS TACACS setup causes a vicious circle. Authentication is required to access a devices for troubleshooting. But Authentications fails with a strict TACACS policy. In the meanwhile we find out the we can access the WAVE/WAE when authentication failover is disabled. With this change the WAE switches to the backup authentication method even when the password is wrong. This workaround allows access during disk failure situations. The workaround is in conflict with a our security policy and we now are checking via TAC if the WAE behavior is a feature or a bug.

Hi,I have a Lenovo V570 laptop. It is 3+ years old. I recently had to change the HDD. After the HDD change, local technician loaded Ubuntu. However, I wanted to go back to the installed Windows 7. I have the Activation Key. However, not sure from where I can get the Windows to dwnload.I tried Microsoft site. After validating the key, I got a message as the key is part of OEM and I need to contact the manufacturer. look inside your /User/Library/Parallels folder if the .hdd file that is your Parallels Windows VM is still present.
To my knowledge the uninstall of Parallels does not delete it.
Whether or not VirtualBox can use is for import is beyond my knowledge.

I just dropped my Athlon 64 and the K8T mobo in the case plugged in the PCI cards and started up. Running Windows XP ... bootup is slow and on occasion the computer will restart on its own, and even sometimes lock up ...

Reinstalling Appleworks after HD failure

Long story, but my HD died on the mini and the DVD that came with the mini was NOT an OS installation disc. I had to pay Apple $17 to get the correct DVD to get the mini running but the DVD had ZERO applications that came preloaded on the original HD. I don't care about anything but Appleworks and wanted to know how I get that back on the mini. I really don't want to have to pay Apple again and I am a bit concerned about pulling the file off the old HD not knowing if it is corrupted and if you can simply drag and drop the file out of the old Applications folder. Any suggestions?

OK, was it the Applications installation disc? If so AppleWorks would be on it.
You can't buy AppleWorks from Apple any longer:

Before buying it try dragging the AppleWorks program from your old HD. There are no special installation utilities for AW. Just drag its icon to your Applications folder.
If the file is corrupted it simply won't work.

Reinstalled windows and lost all playlists

Hi,
I reinstalled Windows after a virus and all my files were recovered from my backup system just fine. However, when I went to the Apple Store it didn't recognize my computer. I had to log in several times. I purchased some new music, synced my ipod nano and then when I went to my music library all the music was gone except for the newly purchased songs. Same goes for the ipod.
I panicked.
I was able to recover all the old songs but lost all my playlists.
I am not sure if I can recover the playlists. Is that part of the old Library file? What will happen to my new music if I import the old library?

Harddisk failure

Hi,
I have a HP Pavilion dv7 notebook with Windows Vista 32-bits and had recently a crash which was solved without any problems.
But suddenly I get a windows message harddisk failure, backup your computer on the C and D.
C is my windows drive and D is my Rescue partion created by HP.
If I restart my laptop I also get this message.
If I run a diagnostic with the bios he doesn't find any errors.
Should I replace my disc or can it be repaired and if I should replace it, is my Rescue partion lost or can I create one on the new disc.
I have got the restore discs created when I installed the laptop.
The laptop is if I am correct bought in May 2009, I have no warranty anymore, I think, is it cheaper to do it myself or by HP ?

and D drive are actually two primary partitions on the same hard disk. Certainly you can do that. You can also try making an image of the D: partition before the hard disk stops working and then clone it to your new hard disk.
Or can I only use the restore dvd's and will this install all software which was originally on the laptop such as Vista ? The Recovery dvds will install the operating system that was originally on the notebook
And should this restore be done on a disk of the same size or can this also be one larger. You can use a larger hard disk.

should be no problem.
Best case is you can activate online via Internet.
Worst case is you have to call Microsoft and explain that it is the same computer after a mainboard failure.

Can't access my apple lossless files on external hard drive after reinstalling windows 8.1

Hi guys
New to this. I reinstalled windows 8.1 after windows continually asking me to change my password after not recognising it despite it being the right one. All my apple lossless tunes are on my external hard drive. Windows keeps saying 'I don't have access to this file currently'. I tried right clicking on hard drive, clicked properties, and tried assigning administrator rights to everyone but still no luck. Contacted windows who said it was an apple issue so here I am.
Can anyone help. I've got 900 albums on this hard drive and the thought of ripping them all again is stressing me.

Changing the path to the media folder doesn't change which database iTunes opens. If your original database is on the external drive then shift-start-iTunes and use the choose option to open it. If you no longer have access to the original database shift-start-iTunes and create a new empty library at X:\iTunes, where X: is the external drive letter, ensure the media folder is set to X:\iTunes\iTunes Media, move all of your content inside X:\iTunes\iTunes Media, use File > Add Folder to Library > X:\iTunes\iTunes Media. See also Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. There are some scripts near the end that can extract ratings, play counts and playlists from your device and the rest of the tip explains how you backup and restore the device with the new library to avoid losing data.

I already purchased PSE12 from this site and installed it on this PC, but I just found out that I need to reinstall windows 8.1 (to switch from 32 bit to 64 bit). Will I be able to use the same license on the computer after I reinstall, or will I need to buy a new copy of PSE?

Can't open PSD file after reinstall windows 7 64 bit

After reinstalling windows 7 stopped opening some files PSD files. I try to open them with Photoshop version 6, it does not work. I tried to open them on the laptop, same garbage. Tell me what the problem is. And how to fix it.

If so, it is quite rare in my opinion. You are very unlucky. Try reinstalling photoshop. Then check these files were opened or not. If not. Then the only option is a special software. I would use on your site this program
