Reinstalling Windows--should I uninstall Adobe products first, prior to reinstalling?

reinstalling Windows--should I uninstall Adobe products first, prior to reinstalling?

If you are wiping your file system then you should deactivate the programs so that you retain the ability to reactivate without wasting an extra activation.  To deactivate Adobe programs usually you just need to open a program and select Help -> Deactivate.  Suites usually deactivate by deactivating just one application of the suite.

  • Uninstalling Adobe products, acrobat 8.0 especially.

I am really frustrated with the Adobe products right now.  I have a brand new tablet coming and wanted to upgrade to CS4 so I could use it to the fullest - so I tried downloading it to try it out and see how I liked it first.  It worked fine, but somehow messed up my pre-existing CS3 and was giving it problems.  I figured the easiest way to fix this all would be to just start from scratch...uninstall it all and then just re-install what I wanted.  Not so much.
The CS4 is gone and I removed my old Photoshop 7 with no problems, but I am having problems with Acrobat 8.0 and CS3.  Neither of them show up on my control panel for an uninstall and I've tried the 'clean-up' program that is supposed to help remove CS3.  It does nothing.  I've also tried removing it manually...all of my Adobe at this point but keep running into problems.  I fixed the problem with acrotray.exe and a few other small issues with the help of google but am stuck at contextmenu.dll and am just TIRED at this point.  I just want to remove every trace of Adobe products from my computer and start over...how can I do this?
    PLEASE help

Have you tried the Windows UnInstaller Repair Tool? If not, that would at least get rid of some installer info that may allow you to reinstall. otehr than that I don't know what else to advise at this point, since you did not provide any system info or other details.

  • How to correctly uninstall adobe products

Hello. I am about to uninstall my old versions of my adobe products (ill 10, photoshop7, acrobat, etc). what is the correct way to uninstall these items? i am going to be installing CS after this. Thanks in advance!
    Dayna

Look in the application folders and on any CDs you may have gotten with those products for an uninstaller; if you find an uninstaller, run it. If not, drag the application folders to the Trash and empty it.

  • I just got installed an update from Firebox on a Mac with OS X. I got a message that I should install another adobe product right away, but I don't remeber which one. Does anyone know

I just installed an update from Firebox on a Macbook with OS X. I got a message from Firefox telling me to install an adobe update right away, but I don't remember which adobe product it told me to install. Do you know which it was?

It was probably Adobe Flash. You currently have version 10.1, the current version is 10.2
You can get the latest version from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

  • If i install new version of Firefox with standalone installer instead of using built in updater, should i uninstall older version first? Would i lose my datas?

As part of end of year maintenance program, i clean my computer and update softwares. I'm currently with Firefox 4.0.1, and want to upgrade to 8. However, the built in updater downloads horribly slow and demands the browser to be active. Most of the times it stated failure and asks me to download the installer myself.
I'm okay with this. Firefox has always be my favorite. But before i do 8.0.1's installation, should i uninstall the old one? Or will it be rewritten automatically? Would i lose my bookmarks and extensions this way?
    Win7 64 bit
p.s: (if someone could tell me how to back up 'Scrapbook' data i'll be so thankful)

You can install latest version on top of older version, and if you install on top of older version, your bookmark will restored

  • Uninstall adobe products?

How do i unistall adobe creative suite 6 from my macbook to put it on a new machine?

I assume that the new machine is also a Mac? Won't work otherwise.
Launch any Creative Suite app and Help > Deactivate to free up an activation.
    That deactivates the entire suite.
Then uninstall as usual from the old computer and reinstall on the new computer.

  • Should I uninstall Adobe Acrobat 4 before I install Abode Reader 9.3 ?

My PC is desktop, Windows 7, 64 bit operating system. The browser is Internet Explorer. Is it a good idea to install Abode Reader 9.3? Would I have to unistall Abode Acrobat 4 before installing Abode Reader 9.3?

Acrobat 4 is not even supported on your configuration. Does it work on WIN 7 64 bit? I'll suggest uninstall it and install reader 9.3

  • Should I uninstall elements 12 before downloading photoshop CC?

i am getting an error whilst downloading photoshop CC. Should I uninstall photoshop elements first?

    Hi Dm606,
You don't need to uninstall Photoshop Element 6 before installing
    Photoshop Element12.
However, it is totally your decission to uninstall PSE6 but it won't give you any
    problem if both version co-exist.
    Hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any other question.

  • Do I uninstall adobe reader when I install Acrobat?

Should I uninstall adobe reader when I install Acrobat? or is there a reader program embedded in acrobat?

    Hi Bill@VT,
The application installing 2nd (or later) always asks "whether the user wants to provide default PDF ownership or not" during the installation. (Please also refer to Image attached)
I would like to understand, if there is any common use case where the system decides by itself about the PDF owner when both Acrobat & Reader are installed.
    Thanks.

Have you tried to reset preferences?  And no you do not have to start Bridge to do this.,
Hold down the Ctrl key and start Bridge.  You should get a reset window with 3 options.  Choose all 3.

I uninstalled Adobe Acrobat Pro due to Windows 8 malfunction with starting up. I am trying to reinstall as I am an owner of the Creative Suite CS6 and I cannot access my serial number. I purchased the software in 2013 and never registered i, apparently. When directed on Adobe's site to access the serial number, it takes me to an outside 3rd party site, which I tried but it does not actually work. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey beccac85068042,
Adobe will provide you the serial number only if you are a registered user.

  • Hi, I have recently got myself a second hand computer MAC OS X Version 10.4.11,Processor 800 MHz PowerPC G4. Have only used windows before. Unfortunately I managed to uninstall Adobe but now can't seem to reinstall as this an older computer

Hi, I have recently got myself a second hand computer  MAC OS X Version 10.4.11,Processor 800 MHz PowerPC G4. Have only used windows before. Unfortunately I managed to uninstall Adobe but now can't seem to reinstall as this an older computer and is not compatible with the new versions. Sorry to sound thick but really have never used Apple before. Would really appreciate any help at all. Thanks..

Windows or apple it makes no difference, if you don't have the install discs you can't install.
Did you buy the machine with Adobe (you don't say what adobe program you're talking about) installed? If so the vendor should have given you the discs or else it's technically a pirated copy. If you're talking about acrobat (which is free) then you should be able to find older versions on the adobe site.

  • Should I uninstall older adobe products before downloading CC?

should I uninstall older adobe products before downloading CC?

It's not necessary. It's your choice.
Most Adobe apps install into separate folders alongside other versions so you can safely have multiple versions installed.
In some cases, features in earlier versions have been dropped in later versions, most famously Photoshop:

If you don't use those features then obviously that won't affect you. But it definitely affects some people so they keep earlier versions installed to access those features.
