Reinststing iPhoto back-up

I  have an iPhoto Back-up of 7 discs from 2010.
I want to re-instate the Back-Up on my eMac OS 10.5.8.
I believe that these photos were under OS 10.3,9 and  iPhoto 6 whereas I now run iPhoto 9 and OS 10.5.8
Will this Back-Up over-write the photos that I already have in iPhoto?
Or, can I feed this 2010 Back-Up into a new iPhoto Library?

Cannot remember how I made the Back-up. I made it in early 2010.
The eMac will not accept the Back-Up Discs - it spits them out. An ongoing disc problem since my 10.5.8 upgrade. I didn't think it would spit out my Back-Up discs though.
Some time ago I upgraded my eMac to OS 10.5.8 and that’s when my troubles started.
First I lost all my emails, then my ability to burn DVD discs (but not CDs) then I got a new iPhoto meaning that I had 'lost ‘ all my photos and folders etc.
However I did have three iPhoto libraries and two iPhoto applications on an external HD.
When I opened iPhoto app I got the following message:
“You can’t open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto.
You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto.”
So I clicked upgrade and the app immediately crashed.
As I have iPhoto Buddy (but I don’t know how to use it) I thought it may be able to enable me to access my iPhoto Library and allow me to view a library so I clicked the iPhoto icon in the bottom of the Buddy window - by this time I have lost all sense of what has happened to what, and in what order, and am quiet gung-ho - So I now have this app with 5000 pics - very good - and so being in an adventures mood I choose Import from another iPhoto Library and voila I have, through sheer luck, got my recent iPhoto library importing like mad - but it will take 16 hours  - so I go to bed and let it get on with it.
Iused to be able to Gdet Info to see where my iPhoto Library was but it is now greyed out.
At last - a question - I have 36,000 photos and 598 Events - How can I put each of the continuos Year Folders into their own Sidebar Year Folder - and the same with the Events -?
No one seems to have a solution to sitting out of discs or inability to Burn DVDs but am able to Burn Audio CDs

  • How can I get my iPhoto back after installing Yosemite OS X 10.10.3?

Can I have iPhoto and Pictures (Yosemite 10.10.3) both on my iMac?  How do I get the iPhoto back on screen and compatible with Yosemite 10.10.3?

Where is the actual instructions to getting my iPhoto back on my iMac?  I can't stand this new OS X Update 10.10.3 for the new photo's app!  This community page only talks about the 10.10.2 but no instructions on how to retrieve the previous version back?
The new display is awful, not appealing at all, can't label the pictures with names anymore, editing pictures, cropping and etc?  Not user friendly!  I don't like anything about this new change!

  • How can I get iPhoto back on my iMac?

My Mac died so I'm now using my brother's old iMac running Mac OS X version 10.5.8.
He didn't give me any disks to do a reinstall so I used a friend's to wipe the data and start new with mine. Unfortunately, I didn't think about all the programs that were on it. Luckily, I had my software disks still for Microsoft suite & Quicken. But, iPhoto isn't on here and now I can only view my massive amounts of photos using preview. Nothing is organized in folders, I can't edit, and generally is making me very sad.
I can't purchase iLife or iPhoto because I'm running an older version of OS X.
I don't can't upgrade to the newest OS X because I'm running too old of a version of OS X.
I can't find anywhere to buy or download from Apple any version of OS X but the newest one.
    What gives?
Any suggestions on how to get iPhoto back?

Well, you can purchase and upgrade the OS o Snow Leopard here http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard and then run software update to get to 10.6.8 to access the Mac App Store and purchase iLife.
Or you can just go here http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_5?url=search-alias%3Dsoftware&field-key words=ilife&sprefix=Ilife%2Caps%2C183 and purchase iLife

How to get photos from iPhoto back onto a SD card. I have a MacBook Pro with built in SD card slot. I have tried "Export" but this does not work.

It's best to export the photos to a folder and then drag the folder onto the memory card.  Memory cards are usually formatted for PCs, FAT 32, which doesn't permit more than a limited number of files in the root directory. Putting the photos in a folder gets around that limitation.

  • How do i get Iphoto back?

I deleted Iphoto and now i have no idea how to get it back.
I recently changed apple ids and deleted my old one which i first used on my macbook pro about 3 months ago. Now i have i have accidently deleted iphoto and whenever i go to the app store to reinstall it i get an accept button instead of a buy/purchase button and then this error message once i click on the accept button:
"These apps were already assigned to another Apple ID, and they will be available in that Apple ID's Purchases list. If you don't have access to that Apple ID and want to receive future updates, you will need to purchase the applications."
So i dont have the apple ID they were first assigned too and i dont want to purchase this application. So i was wondering if there is any way to reinstall it or recover it because my macbook pro came with iphoto already installed.

iPhoto is part of iLife, not OS X. You'll need to either reinstall iLife from your original disks (not sure what version you have or if it will even work with Leopard) or get iLife '08 (probably the most straightforward way to get iPhoto back.)

  • How do i get my iPhoto back?

How do i get my iPhoto back, once i deleted it?

    Reinstall it.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Importing iPhoto Back Up from DVD - Duplicate Event Issue

i'm trying to transfer the iphoto back ups (created in iPhoto) from DVD to my external hard drive. with the disc in, i create a new iphoto library, name it and import the "iPhoto Library" file from the DVD on to my laptop's hard drive. When i do so, it imports over 3,000 photos, whereas it should only be 2,623. when the import is done, i have duplicate events; it looks as though the events are the original and modified versions.
i don't want to have to reorganize my photos after importing them back in (there are 11 ). am i missing something?

doesn't keep the name, but dragging them one by one keeps them separate. guess that's not too bad; at least not as tedious as having to weed through all the photos.
is there some kind of automator i can use?
why don't the events transfer over? this particular back up is Jan. 2009 thru Jun. 2009. I bought iLife '09 in April. could it be because half the photos were organized with a previous version of iPhoto?
Thanks for your help btw. i really appreciate it.

  • How do i get iphoto back after it has been deleted

my mac deleted my iphoto app and now i cant seem to get it back and i dont have the system start up discs anymore so how can i get iphoto back?

Phone Apple Support and order replacement disks, or restore it from backup, or if your computer supports it, upgrade the OS and buy iPhoto from the Mac App Store.

  • My iPhotos have disappeared completely.   How do I get iPhoto back?

My iPhotos have disappeared completely.   How do I get iPhoto back?

    1. Your Library should be in the Pictures Folder, not the Applications folder. Are you sure that you're not looking at the Application?
    2. If it is in the wring folder, move it to the Pictures folder. That's inly in the case of the Library not the application.
    3.
    Couple of things to try:
Restart your mac and try launch iPhoto again.
    If that fails:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a file called ‘iPhoto’Lock.data or similar. Drag it to the Desktop. Make no other changes. Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If not: Where is your iPhoto Library stored? If it's on an External Disk, what format is that?

  • How do I get iphoto back after Yosemite 10.10.3

I have just added the Yosemite 10.10.3 security update to my macbook pro and found that iPhoto has been replaced by a piece of software called Photos.
The replacement application was not wanted and has been forced onto my machine without asking.
Question is.... How do I get my original iPhoto back and the photographs without resorting to a full restore?
    Any ideas..... please.....
    Andy

Yes as you already now know iPhoto can still be found in applications,,, HOWEVER, be warned that apple just informed me yesterday that it will eventually disappear  and you will need to have all of your iPhoto albums transferred from iPhoto to new Photos pgm just to be prepared for eventual shelving of iPhoto,
I found this out because immediately after updating to os x 10.10.3 and as well after updating to the new photos pgm, my iMac all of a sudden no longer shows my camera under Devices in the Finder, and worst of all would NO longer recognize .jpg downloads from my camera (specifically Canon Powershot G6), I have spent 2-3 hours per day for last 2 days on phone with apple techs and they made me do a sh L t load of tests, and file caches adjustments etc… etc…, including a recovery re-install of these recent updates, but it still does not work, they have decided that the issue is definately not a problem with my camera as I was able to download the pics to an old laptop successfully, and then transfer them to a thumb drive and then was able to successfully transfer the .jpg's to my iMac using the thumb drive,(a long and painful process), plus all jpg's that were already in my iMac are still recognized and usable, it's when i try to download jpg pictures from a camera to either of the following pgm's; "image capture", "iPhoto", and even new "Photos" pgm, computer does not recognize .jpg's and gives error (-9937).
    they said that problem is with one of 3 issues;
    1) new OS X 10.10.3
    2) Application specific ("Image capture", "iPhoto" or "Photos") - not likely that all 3 now have issues at same time.
    3) Compatibility issue (specifically that the new OS system is no longer compatible with my specific camera)
They refused to pick one, and the specific tech dept. "photos team, image capture team" would not speak with me and simply told this tech guy to tell me to do a recovery re-install of these new updates and OS, which did not work.
BTW, this tech guy i am talking with is a senior tech who claims he does not know everything about image capture issues. he is supposed to call me back today (Day 3) (LOL are we having Fun yet??? LOLL) to find out if re-install worked,,, IT DID NOT!
MOST IMPORTANT PART OF STORY;;; I have found online that jpg downloads not being recognized occurring immediately after an OS update/upgrade go back as far as 2009/2010. on a hit and miss occurrence.
I am going to take a guess and say that there is a bug in new OS or somehow the proper Drivers incl. in update for my camera have a bug. Canon web site says drivers are not available on their site for OS X 10.10.3 and are included in iMac OS software. Also Canon's Image browser software is no longer available for OS X 10.8 or higher.
They said senior tech who is calling me back today says if recovery re-install of updates do not work(it did not) he would take some pertinent info from my computer or on their end, (he was vague about that) and report it to appropriate dept. to see if they can get back to me shortly with a fix, (not holding my breath), or a future Bug fix/OS Update which he said could take 3-6 months.
They also recommend that I buy a memory card reader and every time I wish to transfer pictures from my camera to my computer, that i should remove the compact flash card from camera and put into memory card reader and transfer it to my iMac that way (for me thats 2-4 times per day, as I sell on eBay, Kijiji and Craig's List.), No more simply plugging my camera into my iMac using USB.

  • How can i get iPhoto back?? I accidentally deleted it!! :(

  • I delete iphoto incident . how can i get iPhoto back?

    i want iphoto back
how can i get this ?

How did you delete it? (not a silly question)
If all you've done is removed the icon from the Dock, go to the Applications folder, find iPhoto and drag it's icon to the Dock, being careful not to release the mouse until the other icons in there move out of the way for it. (if you release too early, you'll leave the application on the Desktop and will have to drag it back to Applications and try again.)
The icons in the Dock are only aliases, so can be replaced easily.
If on the other hand you've somehow deleted it from the Applications folder, there are two possibilities -
If the trash hasn't been emptied, open it, right click on the iPhoto item and select 'Put Back'.
If the trash has been emptied, you'll need to reinstall it from the software restore disc (disc 2 of the grey discs that came with the Mac), or from the iLife DVD if that's where you installed it from, or if on Lion, I believe you'll need to go the App Store and re-download it (but someone may correct me on that).

  • I HATE PHOTO, CAN I GET iPHOTO BACK?

The last time my OS software was update (4/8/15) it also installed Photo and erased my iPhoto.
I have honestly tried to make Photo work to my advantage, but I absolutely hate, hate, hate it.
Is there anyway I can get my old iPhoto back in operation.  iPhoto is in my applications FINDER folder.
However, when I try to launch it I get a pop up menu asking which library I want to use.  Only one is
listed and that is photo library.  I select it and nothing happens.  This new Photo simply *****.
I am using a Mid 2007 iMAC with OSX Yosemitee 10.10.3 installed

iPhoto is in my applications FINDER folder.  However, when I try to launch it I get a pop up menu asking which library I want to use.  Only one is listed and that is photo library
Do you have a backup copy of your iPhoto library that was made before the last system upgrade?  If so restore it to the Pictures folder and open it with iPhoto 9.6.1 (that is the iPhoto version you have, right?).

  • IPHOTO says photos saved with newer version of IPHOTO. How can i get the new version of IPHOTO back on my system?

I loaded IDVD on my IMAC. Now IPHOTO will not open pictures due to pictures saved with a newer version of IPHOTO. How can i restore the newer version of IPHOTO back on my system?

Sounds like a possible damage library.  Give this a try: make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
