Rejected podcast

Last month, after more than a year with out incident I received the following message from message from apple:
"Dear Podcast Owner
The podcast located at the URL shown below has been blocked or removed from the iTunes directory as a result of technical problems with the feed."
I found a few small mistakes in the RSS feed and fixed them, but I have not been able to reactivate my listing at the iTunes store. When I follow the instructions in the email I received, it just say that the listing has already been submitted. Any ideas?

I have a similar problem, except iTunes seems to have rejected my podcast for no apparent reason. It claimed 'technical problems' but we can't find any. The feed validates perfectly, etc.
I keep re-submitting it to iTunes but nothing happens. It doesn't even say it's already been submitted, instead I get a 'thanks for submitting' message but it never gets listed.
Any clues anyone?
Guy
PS John, are you sure no one else has a podcast with the same title? I had the 'already submitted' problem for quite a while when I was trying to submit a video podcast with the same title as my audio podcast. It would have helped if they'd told me that was the reason why!

  • Procedure for fixing a rejected Podcast?

I had my podcast rejected, but without an explanation only a list of what the possibilities could have been. I've make sure everything is correct with the feed and the tags and when I go to resubmit it I am told that it has already been submitted. I have replied to the reject email 3 times, but have received nothing to indicate what the problem could me.
This is getting very frustrating and I'd like to see my podcast listed in iTunes. I've had no problems with any of the other directories.

The same thing happened to me. How do I get my show
    back on line?
    feed://feeds.feedburner.com/SexIsFun
My problem turned out to be that my iTunes feed was redirecting back upon itself. In other words, my direct iTunes link had replaced my RSS feed link so that iTunes was caught in a loop. I got it switched back, pinged iTunes and it was fixed.
    I hope this helps!

  • Re-submitting rejected podcasts?

I had a music podcast rejected because I forgot to note in the information that all tracks were used with permission. How might I go about re-submitting it to the iTunes store? It just keeps telling me that the "feed has already been submitted".

Sorry I can't help you with your problem, but can you help me with mind. How do I publish my podcast into iTunes? Some instructions I read said to click the "publish a podcast" link on the main Podcast Directory pag. But I can't find such a link. Would appreciate help.

  • How do I resubmit a rejected podcast feed?

I submitted my podcast RSS feed and failed to put the Explicit tag on the feed - I have corrected the feed since the rejection but see now way to resubmit the feed to iTunes.  The feed works fine and episodes are showing correctly - however when I go to submit it to iTunes so we have have a page for the Podcast - it says "Looks like this feed has already been submitted"
What are my options from here?
    the feed is: http://feeds.feedburner.com/InterracialJawn

You've fallen over a bug in the automated part of the submissions process whereby you are told a feed has already been submitted even if it was subsequently rejected or removed. The workaround is to change the title slightly - you can change it back once accepted provided doing so does not change the feed URL. If you can change the feed filename, and hence its URL, this is also a good idea, as is changing the URL in the 'link' tag (this can easily be changed back afterwards).

  • Why did my podcast get rejected?

    Hello,
I received a rejection notice on my podcast submission and I can't figure out why. My artwork meets the minimum 1400x1400 pixel format, all files are MP3 format. I've never had these issues before, but this is my first time using SoundCloud as a host server. Any information would be extremely helpful.
    RSS: http://feeds.soundcloud.com/users/soundcloud:users:142715932/sounds.rss

When you enter the URL of your media file in a browser it downloads instead of playing within the browser as it should. This means that although it works in the iTunes application, the Store can't play it within its own page.
You need to set each file not to download. eiznem has posted the process:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/26564459#26564459
This issue will get you rejected, though usually with a notice saying 'We had difficulty in downloading episodes from your feed'. If they didn't give any reason there is another possible difficulty in that you've made use of a trademark ('Marvel') in the image. I don't know whether they would consider this a concern but they've been known to reject podcasts for this reason before. You may want to consider changing the image to something which doesn't infringe the trademark.
When you resubmit the feed you may fall over a bug in the system which will tell you it has already been submitted. If this happens you will have to change the title slightly to get round it - you can always change it back afterwards.

  • Re-Submiting Podcast

Hi there, very new to the podcasting game and I've been up and down searching the discussions for a solution to re-submit my podcast feed when it was rejected but now it's giving me the "The feed has already been submitted". My problem was obvious, the title had the word '****' in it so I changed it to 'F44K'. I also found a solution here that changing the title name would work but either I guess it didn't work or that the change wasn't significant enough. Any help would be greatly apprciated. Thanks!
    http://feed.podcastmachine.com/podcasts/10796/mp3.rss

The automated process when a podcast is submitted will bring up this message if a rejected podcast is resubmitted. The usual workaround is to change the title, even slightly. I can't say why it wouldn't work in this case - you could try changing the feed filename as well.
I should still be cautious about the title - though you have taken evasive action it's still quite clear what the word is supposed to be, and this is likely to get you rejected again. The use of the 'explicit' tag will allow you to use strong language in the content of a podcast, but not in the title or main description since these are immediately visible. You may want to consider finding a new title which doesn't suggest the F-word (which even if it's only suggested can upset some people).

  • Help, I need to know about copyright, soundbytes etc

Hello, clever people. I need to know answers to the following questions:
    1. can you use music from unsigned acts on your podcast if you have permission?
    2. can you use clips from tv and film that do not contain music?
    3. can you download material (songs, radio shows etc) from anywhere other than itunes onto an ipod??
Any help with any of these questions will be greatly appreciated.

    1. can you use music from unsigned acts on your podcast if you have permission?
In order to use copyrighted material of any type you need written permission from the copyright owners (which should make clear what use you have permission to make) or a licence from a recognized authority. Apple will reject podcasts which it suspects are breaching copyright (there are a lot of podcasts out there just playing copyrighter tracks without clearance) so if you have clearance you would probably need to inform them: I don't know if there is a procedure for this - you could try iTunes Support.
    2. can you use clips from tv and film that do not contain music?
The absence of music doesn't come into it: if the material is still in copyright you still need permission to use it.
    3. can you download material (songs, radio shows etc) from anywhere other than itunes onto an ipod??
You can load any legally downloaded songs into the iTunes application (unless they come from a source which in some way prevents this and ties them to another player), or copy CDs which you own into iTunes and from there sync them to your iPod.

  • Podcast rejected, can't get it to resubmit...

I have had a podcast on itunes for the past 3 years.  I recently switched servers, so I stuck a HTTP 301 redirect on the old feed to send it to my feedburner page.  Almost immediately I received notice from Apple that my show had been rejected from the itunes market, with the link to all the possible reasons why.
Now or course, I cannot resubmit the feed.  I have tried submitting the new feed that feedburner points to, the feedburner feed, and the old feed address with the 301 redirect.  Sometimes it says the feed has already been submitted, sometimes it tells me it "appears" the feed has been submitted.  I went into the feedburner page and changed the title slightly, but still get same message.  I have also gone into the main rss and changed the title there, but again no luck.
The feeds I have tried to submit are:
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/jafmp
    http://www.jafmp.com/?feed=podcast
    http://jafmp.com/podcast/podcast.xml
Is there something I am missing?
    Thanks!

Although the 301 redirect has been seen to work, the correct way to redirect iTunes to a different feed is described here:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#changing
However as you've been rejected this is no longer an option. The feeds themselves seem to be OK and can be subscribed to in iTunes. There is a bug in the Store whereby if you resubmit a feed which has been rejected you are told it's already been submitted (which is true but irrelevant). The way round this is to change the title, which you say you've done. You could also change the filename of the feed (if possible - the feed URL in Feedburner may depend on the title of the feed, so it will change anyway).
If neither of these works the only thing I can suggest is iTunes Support, but I have to say you are unlikely to find the helpful: mostly they just send back form answers which don't address the problem. Go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'. You will see a link to either 'Express Lane', which will guide you eventually to some contact options, or you may see a link to email them.

  • Podcast was accepted, then rejected 9 weeks later. Why?

About nine weeks ago, I submitted my podcast to iTunes. It quickly was accepted, and it was even featured in the New & Noteworthy section of the Tech category all along.
    Podcast Name: Let's Talk Jailbreak
    Feed URL: http://idownloadblog.libsyn.com/rss
Then on Tuesday, out of the blue, I received an email from Apple saying my podcast hasn't been included in the podcast directory. After doing a quick troubleshooting, it appeared the feed had a very small problem, which apparently wouldn't even be a problem for iTunes. We fixed the small error anyway.
Since the rejection had started after Episode #9, which was titled "Like Justin Bieber says...", we thought that having "Justin Bieber" in the title could be a problem too so we changed the title to something different, and resubmitted the podcast.
I also replied to the email I received from Apple saying the podcast was rejected, telling them we had made some changes to fix the feed and changed the title.
I haven't heard back from them and I am wondering if the whole topic of our podcast could be the problem.
Our podcast is called "Let's Talk Jailbreak" and focuses on everything jailbreak. We do not endorse or even talk about app piracy. We just talk about jailbreak applications released for iOS devices. My blog, iDownloadBlog.com, is undeniably the best blog on this topic, and our podcast was just an extension of the blog. The podcast was downloaded over 30,000 times per episode, and was professionally produced. It also had 85 ratings in iTunes, most of them 5 stars.
From your experience, do you think Apple could have removed our podcast because we talk about jailbreaking?
I look forward to hearing your thoughts. We were having so much fun doing this podcast. Apple's unexplained decision really is a downer, especially because they don't give us any hint as to why the podcast was rejected all the sudden.

Having the name "Jailbreak" in your podcast is what got it removed.
Change the title / description / tags to remove any mention of the word "Jailbreak" and then you should be able to get it back in.
email me rob (at) libsyn (dot) com for more info.

  • Why was my podcast rejected?

So I recently submitted a podcast for myself. It was a DJ podcast and was accepted just fine. The other day I submitted one for my partner in my DJ business. I got an e-mail today saying his was rejected and I am not sure why. Mine is EDM and his is Hip-Hop, but I set the Explicit setting to yes for his, because of the language. Can anyone help? The feed is http://frozenphoenixent.com/itunes2.xml

From the description I assume that your podcast consists of a 'mix' of commercially issued recordings? This is a breach of copyright, and consequently your podcast will not be allowed in the Store. You can't use such recordings in a podcast without specific written permission of the copyright owners (which you are not likely to get).
There is a certain amount of music available as 'podcast safe' - where you would have permission to use the material: you could search on that term in Google if you wanted to follow that idea up.

  • Please help, podcast rejected

Our podcast was approved and running for 3 weeks, 4 episodes, and we just received an email saying we were rejected. Not sure why this is, our feed validates fine.
    Title: Ruby5
Description: All your ruby news in 5
    Feed URL: http://feeds.feedburner.com/Ruby5
iTunes URL (no longer works): http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=327234205
    Podcast Homepage: http://ruby5.envylabs.com
This is a news podcast which doesn't contain any questionable content.
Please help, would like to get this resolved ASAP so we don't lose any listeners.
    Thanks!

I'm afraid I can't offer any suggestions. I wondered whether the fact that the latest episode is in effect an advertisement for a paid-for service might be an issue, but apparently this is permmitted - see
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/whatson/podcasts/creatorfaq.html
which also lists likely reasons for rejection, none of which would seem to apply here. There appears to be no technical problem. You could try contacting them:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/podcast/
though they don't seem to have a good record for detailed helpfulness.

  • Podcast Rejected

Itunes is not upload my podcast, so i thought my feed may have some problem, so i  decided to change the feed. I send a e-mail to itunes, it is about i want to remove the current feed, and upload a need feed. After one day, my podcast has been uploaded. But i recived a e-mail which is iTunes Store Podcast Rejected Notification e-mail yesterday,it seems like my feed has been deleted. After it, i deleted that feed and create a new by using feedburner. Both feed use the same source, but when i try to submit my new feed to itunes, it rejected, it said it has been submit already. What should i do now? Thanks for any advise.

You will need to change the title slightly to avoid this error message, so that it looks like a new feed. However you should try to identify the reason it was removed to make sure it won't be rejected again. This page listes possible reasons for removal or rejection:

  • How to appeal a podcast rejection? Please help

Hello to all. I recently submitted a podcast to the iTunes directory. It was rejected. here is the note I got from them.
    http://tinypaste.com/79144f8f
I clicked the specks link and it all looked good. In fact I have submitted many podcasts of this nature and the feed validated ok. So how do I get this podcast in to the       store? Who can I talk to and when I try and resubmit the link it says it already has been submitted. A bit of advise would please be nice.
    Thanks all.

If that's the case that make sense; how ever I have 4 or 5 other podcasts up there all that have this kind of stuff. see: ActionCountry tcjwb TGU and SolidGoldSundays all of which are archives of shows we do. so should I try emailing the podcast address you gave and show these as links like I'm doing here? I want to try and reach the widest audience I can and iTunes for me is the best bet.
    thanks and take care..
